Reviews for New Haven Yacht Club
Very accomodating, 2016-08-30
Captain: , Perth Amboy, NJ (220)

Phoned in for a mooring and the staff was fantastic. Launch driver even stayed a bit later than usual to make sure we were settled. While the club was offerred to us, we stayed afloat. The mooring was free; not sure if this was due to club reciprocity or if it is standard procedure.

no longer free, 2015-05-27
Captain: , Haverstraw, NY (61)

Stayed two years ago and it was free. but now they charge. I am not sure how much because you have to book it with the slipfinder app. i downloaded it and registered and still couldnt book it. They didnt answer the phone or the VHF. We picked up the guest mooring, (they have 2 now) and called again. This time a young guy answered. I explained that i couldnt book the mooring on the app. He got back to us later and said it was fine if we stayed for free but that we are supposed to book on the app. he wasnt sure how much it was but thought it might be 50$. That is very steep because they dont really have any amenities and their launch is really just a skiff and i dont think there is anything nearby the club. But it was very nice of them to let us stay for free and we appreciated it.

Easy stop, 2014-09-05
Captain: , Galesville, MD (1067)

We picked up the free guest mooring ball marked "NHYC" for one night. It's at the outer end of the yacht club mooring field. No issues for our 44' sailboat. Didn't go ashore other than to check in with the yacht club.

Great Place to Moor In Heavy Easterlies, 2011-10-05
Captain: , Bridgeport, CT (548)

We needed a Harbor of Refuge as were running in 6 ft seas and 30 kt winds from the east. After pulling into New Haven harbor we located the mooring field as fog lowered. We just needed a safe place sheltered to the east after motor sailing for 12 hours. NHYC fit the bill to a T. Didn't need any transport to the club. The anchorage could be rolly if the wind is from the west or southwest.

Great free stopover if you don't require much services, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Port Jefferson NY (143)

We arrived at the New Haven Yacht Club, were given a free mooring, taken by launch ashore and back and never asked for any money (however we tipped the launch operator.) No showers were offered, not sure they existed.

Very friendly worth the stopover if you require no services.
