Reviews for New Bern City Free Docks
Exposed to Southeast Winds, 2015-05-11
Captain: , Philadelphia (331)

Tied up to the west fixed dock during TS Ana, lots of wave action with boat pressed against the dock. There are no cleats on this dock (middle dock has them). the 2 x 4 cleat rail is in poor shape (rot) was amazed I did not pull it off completly. Nice town to tour, restaurants where packed & had long waits on Friday night, Mothers day?

Nice place downtown, 2015-01-23

We stayed here a few nights while we explored New Bern. There were no signs stating how long you can stay, so I'm not sure how long we'd officially be welcome. The floating dock didn't look very sturdy, so we chose a fixed dock. Looks like you'd have good protection from the NW, but be very, very exposed in winds of any other direction. We enjoyed very light southerly winds, but moved to the Trent River anchorage as soon as winds were forecast to increase.

New Bern is one of the must see places in NC, 2014-08-25
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (686)

Stayed here for 2 days and had a harrowing experience with thunderstorms one night. Probably best to tie up left of the floating dock. There are 3 fingers and the 2 left ones are fixed. Plenty of crab fishermen to compete with all night long. People here very friendly. The Tryone Palace is a must see. Excellent $5 meal at the medical facility opposite the Piggly Wiggly.

Enjoyable Stay, 2013-06-30

The wind was really kicking up when we arrived in New Bern. We were thankful to be met by two knowledgeable dockhands who worked hard to get us safely on the dock. The marina is right next to a nice park where we enjoyed exercising our dog. Mitchell%u2019s Hardware Store in the downtown area is a step back in time and a truly fun place to browse. You never know what you might come home with!

One of these docks is now a floating dock

Overexposed, 2011-05-24
Captain: , vero beach (508)

Finger piers are about 40' long and it shallows near wall so cannot back in. VERY exposed position, but easy walk into town if you are sure winds won't pick up while away. Not recommended for overnight.

Awesome stop must do!, 2010-10-11

If you are a full time cruiser looking for an easy place to get ashore to provision, shop, walk the dogs or purchase specific needed items this place is it! everything is within walking distance.

Nice docks with deep water. Please note that these are only free for 4 hours then you must pull off, no overnight mooring. Great docks to tie up to and go see the town and have lunch!
