Skippers unfamilar with this landfall should read their 'Coastal Pilot' before entering Gordon Pass.

Caution NOTE: When running Gordon pass with an outbound tide and westerly winds and seas, boats over 5 feet draft risk bottoming out on the bar which lies just between Markers 2 and 3 to 6 and 4 channel markers. Deep draft boat should consider laying off for tide help before entering Gordon at times other than calm seas.

Gordon is in a constant state of dredge maintenance. Inside the cut there will be a lot of dredge quipment that skippers should remain alert to when making landfall at night.

Caution: The Naples waterway between Gordon and the town has few lighted marks. On moonless nights the channel is very dark. Keep a strong flashlight handy to pick up marks as you go. The channel has more than one unexpected wiggle that will be encountered.

Reviews for Naples City Dock
Felt Like Coming Home, 2016-06-16
Captain: , cocoa beach (40)

We arrived April 1st (fools ?) after a 6 month cruise in The Bahamas. Marlene, Deborah, and Don couldn't have been kinder or more professional. They put us in a monthly slip and helped us tie up.

This is a working marina, with several charter operations working out of it, as well as private vessels. All the charter folks were super friendly, and because of the traffic, we felt very secure. Additionally, the staff walks the docks twice daily and checks the boats.

The diesel at the dock was the same price as at a gas station. In June I paid $2.28 / gallon. Water and electric (30 or 50 amp service) was included in the dockage.

It's Naples, so it ain't cheap. Our month-to-month dockage was ~$550 for a 35' boat. But it was worth it.

They also had on-site waste oil disposal.

All in all, a terrific experience.

Comfortable stay, 2016-03-17
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (190)

Busy marina in the heart of Naples. Staff was competent and professional, and aided us in docking. Most boats around us were bow in, and we had no boarding problems even at low tide. Many wooden planks on the dock had been replaced, and we did not have a sense of disrepair. Men's head was clean and modern, but only one shower and no private dressing area except in the shower itself. The trip north from Gordon Pass was like a superhighway, and our sailboat doing 5-6 knots was continually rolled by passing powerboat wakes. Excellent access to shops and restaurants.

Nice but old fixed docks., 2016-03-12
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (768)

No internet. Competent dock hands. They were there to help us tie up in a challaging crosswind. No problems. Well lighted and secure. I've watched the dock hands walk the whole marina twice a day. A lot of the pilings are substancially rotted and the walk ways have some very rough wood. Still $1.50 per ft with BoatUS. $15 per ft per month with a $25. discount with boat US.

Old outdated wooden dock is it really Naples?, 2016-03-02
Captain: , Delaware (90)

One of the richest city in USA with outdated dock? don't walk bare foot it is dangerous. Despite that the crew is great and very accomoadating. Then why destroying the scenery with the abandon slips just beside the Marina. These abandon slips belongs to the richest family in Florida? Naples isn't proud enough to do something with this ugly showcase. Then how about the internet that is provided by the motel beside? Very poor signal at the slip. Please tell the administrator of the city that it is time for modernization. But the question is do they really want us there?

Naples: a vibrant, walkable town, 2016-02-05
Captain: , Sewickley, PA (10)

Naples City Dock is an excellent location from which to explore Old Naples on foot. From the marina, it is a 10 minute picturesque walk to the Fifth Avenue South retail district, Sunday afternoon concerts at Cambier Park and the Saturday AM farmer's market at theThird Street business district. For fresh veggies, meats, fish and bread, one can walk or bicycle to Oakes Farm Market on Davis Blvd using the bridge underpass at Tin City.

Dockmasters Marlene and Ozzie were very friendly and helpful. Dockage fees and fuel prices are quite reasonable. During our visit in January, 2016, the City was in the process of planning a complete renovation of this dated but highly utilized public facility.

Fun place to stay. Hard to get on/off the boat., 2015-12-17
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (748)

We stayed here a week. The city dock is close to all the action in downtown Naples; it was easy to get most places (Tin City, 5th Ave galleries, Ace Hardware, and Publix) with short bike rides. Gulfshore Drive provides a low-traffic, scenic bike ride for several miles.

The staff was friendly. Everyone was very laid back and helpful.

Dockage: They required that we back in to the slip. With fixed docks, this made it really challenging to get on and off the boat. The finger piers were not long enough to reach our side doors so we had to get creative from the swim platform. We got a lot of stretching in and did not fall in the water once. Win!

Bathroom: There was one stall and one shower in each. The bathroom was public. The shower had a code on the door.

Also of note: they had recycling bins! (This was one of the very few marinas where we have encountered them.)

Good Stopover to Key's, 2015-11-07
Captain: , Florida (110)

Been traveling south for a couple weeks. Decided to grab a slip and rest for a couple nights. The docks are old but very safe. Slips are really skinny. I'm 12'6" beam.
Good dock hookups but no cable, no internet. No worries, they have a work around. A good digital antenna can fetch a dozen or so TV stations. Good restaurants around. As you might expect, pricey! Great pizza place right next to the ship store. Very nice park. Dock staff very friendly and competent. All in all a great place to make the jump south.

great people, 2015-04-20
Captain: , pensacola (30)

The marina is in need of some repair but the marina staff more than make up for that. They do everything posible to make sure you and your boat have a safe and pleasent stay. Would recommend to anybody.

Very friendly staff, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Clayton, NY (645)

8 blocks to the west is the beach, and you pass 3rd st on the way which has lots of restaurants. 8 blocks to the north is 5th ave with lots of stores and restaurants. The Best of Everything is my favorite store for buying seashore jewelry. Bathrooms are clean. Laundry was out of order.

Very Accommodating , 2015-01-31
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (392)

The boat was in Marco Island and we drove to Naples to search for a slip in Naples. We lucked into the City Dock. They are very attuned to the beam restrictions of their slips as well as the length of their finger piers as it relates to a bow in single engine boat. Donnie was our initial contact and he relayed all of our requests and concerns to the person on duty upon our arrival. It was a pleasure! The wash rooms and showers are upscale and kept very clean, and the charm of a downtown city marina.

Good Value, 2015-01-18
Captain: , Stuart, FL (909)

Stayed here three days. Very convenient to the shopping in Naples. Walked to the Naples Pier (8 blocks) and walked the beach. Beautiful beach.

Docks are old and slips are narrow. $1.50/foot with Boat US discount - and that includes electric! Dock hand and manager are super nice people.

Ate a great meal at the Boat House nearby.

Only complaint was birds who sat up in the sailboat masts and crapped all over the boat. Black stains everywhere. Otherwise, five stars.

Great location, 2015-01-02
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1055)

Busy marina with all the charter boats, but wasn't an issue. Couldn't be in a better location if planning to walk 3rd street, 5th Ave, Tin city and end up back at the marina. The Dock resturant (on site) has very good food, drinks and service. Ship store has a good selections. Very frindly Marina staff. Short finger piers so plan stern in. We enjoyed the 2 night stay but should have planned more time. Will Return.

great location and prices, 2014-09-02
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Walking distance to downtown Naples restaurants and shopping, good stores within a long walk or bike ride, Gulf beaches about a mile away, great beaching, terrific bike riding all around Marina . Get 10% off if u buy 200 gal of fuel. Do it yourself open 24x7 Pumpout at fuel dock. Friendly staff but not really staffed to assist much with arrival or departure. Good clean restrooms and showers. Several restaurants right at docks. Charter boats at docks. No crime or security issues. No cable TV or Internet but good cell coverage. Docks are old but in good shape, lots of parking one block from Marina . Not fancy but really good prices for Naples

Great Find, 2014-05-09
Captain: , North Fort Myers FL (45)

Stopped on way back from Marathon with fouled headsail. Found the marina friendly and more than reasonable.

Naples City Marine - May 2014, 2014-05-09
Captain: , Grand Isle (96)

We spent several days here and highly recommend it as a great place to visit - the marina and Naples. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and cost was reasonable. The only setback is that it is dated and the dock spaces are tight. The water and power were excellent with great places to eat very near by. We really enjoyed our visit here.

Naples City Dock, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Naples City Marina a complete disappointment. Docks are old wood splintering docks. Commercial fishermen clean their fish at the docks attracting every bird in SWFL and when done eating leave bird droppings everywhere. Bathroom facilities are public bathrooms open to everyone to use; needless to say a challenge to keep clean. Then the non-stop noise of boat owners%u2019 use of band saws, sanders, grinders and power washers from sunrise to sunset made for a most unpleasant dockage. Once ashore beautiful.

Come to Naples!, 2014-03-01
Captain: , Chesapeake (261)

We've come up from Marathon and pushed by Marco Island to Naples. Wow, what a find. First the marina is run by the town of Naples. I'm fairly sure they don't have a huge amount of transcient berths. The facilities are old, but everything is there. And you are "there" also. We extended out stay and must confess we'd be here another day or two if we had planned it right. A spot not to be missed.

Convenient location, 2014-02-25
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Good location in historic distric. Was lumpy during day due to traffic in river, but settled down after dark. Restroom/shower were clean, but only one for entire marina. Charter boat fleet operates out of marina-lot of traffic on piers during day. Piers in poor condition. No cable- TV reception was poor.

Very Plesant Stop on moring ball, 2014-02-24
Captain: , Earth (561)

Mandatory Free pump out before taking a ball, good staff. Great location. $10 a night is a great price for a moring ball.

Visit the ships store just off the docks, the Lady there was EXTREMELY helpfull when I needed it most!

Nice location , Good people, 2014-02-15
Captain: , Tennesse (20)

Great location, Good services, Enjoy enjoyed our 3 day stay. The best part is the staff. Friendly and helpful. 5th ave. a short walk away. Cost were more than fair. Feb 2013

Pleasant Working Dock, 2014-02-13
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

Naples city Dock is in a good location, within walking distance to 5th Ave and other shops/cafes/etc. There are many fishing charter boats and sunset cruisers located here, so the place is very public. Docks are fixed and in decent condition. Staff is super friendly and knowledgable. Price is good. On the downside, the head is public and has one seat. Shower is locked, but located in the public head. It is like showering in a McDonald's toilet.

Older fixed docks but OK, 2013-12-01
Captain: , Orange, MA (70)

Stayed here on November 23, 2013. Could only stay one night as they only had room for us overnight. Good location for walking to Tin City and other areas of Naples including the Pier. Bathrooms and showers were OK.

Turned away, 2013-04-30
Captain: , St. Petersburg, Fl (264)

I did not stay here, so review is limited in scope. They advised me on the radio they had a slip for me, but it's location required two 90 degree turns in very tight fairway. Couldn't be done with my full keel sailboat. I requested to tie up to the fuel dock since it was closed and was robustly refused. They were very short with me, it was 5PM and they wanted to leave. Forced to go find an anchorage in fading light.

Good marina in a great location, 2013-04-23
Captain: , Washington, DC (435)

The City Marina is well run and in a great location. Only it's limitation on stay keeps it from getting 5 stars. Good dock staff, adequate facillites, nice locals. The "Dock" restaurant there is very good and the two (2!) French restaurants are within a block and really get into the cruising kitty. The Coffee Shop on the corner is great also. Shop at Wynn's Market (10 blocks) for fresh produce and a great butcher.

Good marina in great location, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Anna Maria, FL (165)

This marina has always been friendly and helpful at the dock and at the dock house. Water and power at the slip. There are laundry and shower facilities. Probably the greatest asset is its location. Lots to do that can be reached by foot or bike. Next door to marina is a good ships store where you can rent a bike.

nice people, 2013-03-17
Captain: , Buffalo (832)

very protected from the wind and easy to get onto a ball. I question if a number of 36' boats could each be on a mooring, though. Only $10 and diesel was $4.21 on 3/17/13.

Great people, perfect location, 2013-03-10
Captain: , Oriental (321)

We stayed on a mooring ball for 4 days (max stay). The price was right, the people helpful and friendly and the place was uncrowded. They offer free pumpout. Within a 5 minute walk to two happening retail and restaurant corridors. A little too convenient to the awesome wine bar Avenues.

Vaughan Taylor, 2013-02-08
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (401)

All of the staff here go out of their way to take care of you and your boat, even if you are just staying on one of their very protected moorings. Naples is a true gem of a small city with great restaurants, shops, and galleries.

we found a new home, 2012-11-06
Captain: , Flat Rock In (21)

the staff has been the most healpful and friendly we have encountered in our travles going the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable

Great stop with morring balls, 2012-09-27
Captain: , charleston (761)

There are only 7 morring balls but the price is right -- $10 for a mooring ball. We were the only ones there. Dingy dock very accesible but must climb ladder to dock. Free pumpout if on mooring ball.

Great Stop!, 2012-03-07
Captain: , Mattituck, NY. (371)

Can not say enough about the staff. We arrived on an extremely windy day and they went out of their way to help. Roger, Marlene and Jim, thank you.
Showers have security code but bathrooms do not. Docks are fixed.
Lots of fabulous restaurants, but pricey.
Would come back.

Great people but tight slips, 2012-03-04
Captain: , Tampa (10)

I can not say enough about the people here. I was towed in, and the entire staff was very helpful and understanding. The slips are tight and need some work but they make up for it in hospitality.Very helpful getting in and out of the slips and the fuel dock.Say hi to Marlene the assistant dock master, she is wonderful.

An unpolished Gem, 2012-02-21
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

Too bad the City of Naples does not see what they can do here. The docks need some repair, there is one public bathroom for each gender, however there is a code to get into the shower. Bathrooms are open to the public and can be cleaner. The staff are friendly and helpful, but are not knowledgable about the trolly or public transportation. Local restaurants are plentiful. Shopping for groceries and supplies are a little distance. The closest grocery called Wynns is a little over one mile away. It is a little pricey, but they have great stuff plus a hardware store with boating supplies. There is plenty to do around town. Get the local (free) paper at the end of the dock and they list all of the activities for the week. Transient slips are minimal, so call ahead. I would come back.

Fixed dock - short piers - tight fairway, 2012-02-02
Captain: , Galena, MD (1826)

Staff can be helpful. Jay stayed after closing to help us operate pump out and get into slip. She was great.
Some staff help boaters dock and some don't, so don't expect help. Request help if you want someone to help with lines.
Docks are fixed. Finger piers are short so a back-in was necessary on our boat. Fairway is narrow, so any wind will make it difficult.
Restrooms are open to the public, and that is where the showers are located. Transient slips located on dock with tour boat at end. Three sailings per day and people coming and going.
Great town to visit. Nice walk to Old Naples area with many shops, restaurants and bars. Very active art community.
Just one block walk on 12th are two very good restaurants. Chez Boet is a wonderful French home cooking restaurant, excellent food and ambience. Bleu Provence accross the street has good "early bird" offering for $25, including a glass of wine.

Good Moorings, 2011-12-03
Captain: , Shell point, Fl (190)

The moorings are reasonably priced, but they do have a four night maximum regardless of weather. The staff is nice but not very helpful. It is very close to downtown although not any grocery stores. They have showers and laundry.

Good Fuel Stop, 2011-08-29
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (539)

Note that both gas and Diesel fuel are discounted 10% for 200 or more gallons. Today the price for Diesel was $4.06, but that disclunted to $3.65 on 200 gallons. That is a good price in today's market.

very helpful and plesant staff, 2011-06-28
Captain: , Wanakena, NY (588)

Excellent help from staff for our (still learning) docking skills. About a 10 block walk to beatiful beach. Bicycle rentals available.

great fuel dock people, 2011-03-20
Captain: , englewood fl. (20)

stayed overnight in the commercial row it was too noisey in the morning otherwise a nice place

Friendly Knowledgable Staff, 2011-02-18
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (651)

Made a fuel stop here for for diesel and gas for the dinghy. The staff was helpful and knowledgable. Great place for local knowledge.

Great Place to Visit Naples, 2011-01-21
Captain: , Cleveland (2062)

Staff was excellent and very helpful with local informaton. Old town/pier was a bike ride away - probably too far for most to walk but sufficient restaurants within walking distance. Tin City not close but could dingy to it easily. Many restaurants there as well as some fun shopping. Cove Inn next door had a great breakfast. Really good ship's store right near the docks.

Could be improved: only one restroom/shower each for men/women.

Wonderful staff, very close to downtown., 2010-12-15
Captain: , Naples (23)

The staff is very helpful. The marina is in the heart of old Naples, and close to everything.

Beautiful city and decent place to stop for a night or two, 2010-11-04
Captain: , Nassau Bay (185)

The city dock is a fine place to tie up for an evening or two. We layed side to on a t-head after fueling and the lady working was delightfully friendly and very helpful. The 7 block walk to all the shopping and dining was very easy, safe and pleasant. Will return.

price for moorings very reasonable, 2010-08-27
Captain: , Marathon, FL (121)

the price for moorings is very reasonable. minimal facilities. if you tie up to the dock, be aware that it is not secured access, so you will need to lock up your boat. Pizza place nearby is awesome

Great central location, 2010-05-13
Captain: , Stuart, FL (232)

Contrary to other reviews, we found the staff at the City Dock to be quite helpful and friendly. We decided to stay on a mooring ball for the night ($10). The ONLY complaint I could offer is that the mooring balls are too close together. They have a floating dinghy dock that was convenient to the mooring field. This spot is within good walking or dinghy distance from restaurants and shopping. I'd definately stay here again.

Sliding Down Hill, 2010-03-22
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (121)

Came in simply for fuel last week %u2013 it seems to have weathered poorly since was last year (3 years ago). Facilities have a %u201Crun down%u201D feel and staff is less then friendly. Watched a sail boat captain come in behind me at fuel dock and was astounded at the poor line assistance/chastising that he received from the dock attendant. She also counseled me that I had to shut down my engines/genny to fuel (diesel mind you) and then was of no help and anxious for me to get off of the dock as I tried to diagnose a starter that of course caused problems as I tried to restart one of the engines. For a city like Naples, this is a big disappointment.

Naples City Dock, 2010-03-22
Captain: , Oshkosh , WI (194)

The male staff was very friendly and helpful. We used a batter board due to the tide changes when at the dock. Windy yet protected at the marina dock as well as on the mooring balls.

Long in the tooth, 2010-03-19
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

Reasonable fees but the docks are a little old and shabby. Still nice walking distance from town however.

A Little Shabby, 2010-02-26
Captain: , Ft. Myers (376)

Stayed there on Feb 19 while waiting to get into Naples YC. You would think that the city of Naples could come up with a better city marina. Old fixed docks, primitive bathrooms and not much docking help. Tourists constantly walking the piers.

city marina, 2009-05-03
Captain: , St.Pete (76)

We arrived at 4;00 A M And tied up to the first open dock we found. At 9;00 we was shown a slip we needed to move to .Pee Wee my dog was treated as a celebrity.the entire staff was friendly however I would not go out of my way to use it again without good reason.

Pleasant surprise, 2009-02-26
Captain: , Charlevoix (62)

very comfortable older dock in the " olde town" section of Naples. Walking distance to the pier and Tin City as well as the old downtown section of Naples. Four days maximum stay, $ 1.50 ft with Boat US membership.

Naples City Dock, 2009-02-19
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

An OK stop. Not very convienent for shopping.

Didn't have any problems with the staff.

good place to stop, 2008-02-27
Captain: , Miami, fl (3544)

We stopped there feb 08 while delivering a 54 up the coast, nice stop. We came in late but they gave us instructions to a T dock and left an enveloppe on the office door with shower codes if needed.

Had a little issue with the morning guy who insisted on writing down a credit card nr even though we were paying cash and leaving right away... on the other hand the dock attendant I spoke to on the phone the day before (Lisa) was very friendly and helpful

great location, a short ($5) cab ride to 5th avenue with plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars. The ride into Naples from gulf is nice, with beautiful homes lining the shore. There is a restaurant at the marina, along with a pizza place and another store.

a good stop.

Naples City Dock, 2008-01-22
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (822)

The city doks limit you stay to four nights. The docks are average and at times(weekends) the ride can be a bit rocky.

City Run!, 2007-06-30
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (22)

Don't expect any help. Dock Master doesn't leave air conditioned office. Instruction over VHF was "after you tie up, come to office and sign in". Unfortunately about the only game in town.

Good Spot but is an open public pier, 2007-04-25
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (258)

The City Dock is just north of the Naples YC (private, Florida Council) and slips have good water. I've stayed here several times and have alwasy been put in slips around the gas dock at the T-Head. The piel is public and there are frequent strolers passing by. The local LE keep their bots at the Gas Docks as well so the police are alwasy around going or coming.

At the foot of the pier is a pretty good local restruant which is popular with locals and lines form around the eary bird hours.

Naples is an interesting little town that is growing up fast. You'll be able to get around easily by bike, or taxi. Rental cars can be arranged the the airport which is pretty close by.

City Docks are protected from Wake and surge is nominal, but there is an open fetch of water that lets the wind from the SE keep things rocking frequently.

The doscks are not considered quiet until after 9:00pm

This is good spont, with minimal service and no luxury facilities.

I do not know about pets.

Best price in Nales, 2007-03-12
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

The staff is only there to man the fuel dock. They will not help you when tying up. The restaurant is good but a wait should be anticipated.
