Reviews for Nantucket Boat Basin
Water very pricy !!!, 2017-08-08
Captain: , Propriano, Corsica (20)

We refueld for the x-Atlantic crossing (50 gal.) and needed to top up water. 6 ft. from the fuel pump there was a water hose that we could have used for the purpose, but were firmly denied it's use. Instead, they offered to sell us a 1/2 day docking place at $50.- with fee water !!! We found this unbelievable, but had no choice, since there was not enough depth for our boat (6 ft. draft) at the public dock. No negotiation possible : take it or leave it !

Terrific as always ...., 2016-09-25
Captain: , Key Largo (152)

Even in the "off season" Nantucket remains one of the top Marinas on the East Coast. The staff very pleasant and clearly happy for a slower time of year. The town and its shops and restaurants equally so ..

Always great at the boat basin, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Bass river (10)

Best marina within 100 miles of Cape Cod. Great town, restaurants, and night life. I always start and end my boating season with a night there.

Very pleasant and met all our expectations as usual

AUGUST 2016 TRIP, 2016-08-09
Captain: , Danvers MA (60)

Extremely well run marina. Expensive but first class service.
Dockhands extremely available and nice. As I said it is not cheap but worth the price.

Excellent Service and Location, 2016-08-03
Captain: , Newport (41)

We had a great 4 might stay here. Steps from the main drag, great people watching and our boat neighbors were good too (that can make or break a stay). Dock hands were always there to help you, bring ice, whatever you needed! My only caveat is that the bathrooms are pretty basic - clean, but old and in need of renovation.

Supply and Demand Pricing, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (1089)

I am one of the last people to complain about pricing. In fact, I am happy to pay top dollar for the best places to dock. But the marina has to earn that with a great location, exceptional service, and quailty amentities. The Nantucker Boat Basin is certianly in a great location right in the middle of town, near shops, restaurants, grocery store and a wealth of history and charm (5 stars). The people there were friendly, helpful and competent around the docks. (5 stars). But the docks are in marginal condiiton and the head and showers were really sub par, open to the general public and not the cleanest of faciliies. (2 stars). Every marina can't be perfect, but at these prices, the Nantucket Boat Basin might want to consider investing in upgrading its facilities. One final note -- the fariways are narrow and very busy so be patient and ask the dockmaster to give you the "all clear" before entering or departing the basin.

Exceptional Service, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Orleans (20)

Staying at NBB was a pleasure. The staff was most professional and attentive to detail. We really enjoyed parking our Island Packet 31 there for the whole time.

Questionable Value, 2016-07-12
Captain: , Barrington RI (137)

With their new in-season rates of $7.25/ft this place may be the most, if not the MOST expensive marina on the east coast. But it's a uniquie location and the only game in town so I'm not surprised they comand these kinds of prices. But based on a stay during this 4th of July I think they're pushing it. This place is location location location. But beyond that you don't get much. Docks are in marginal condition with lifting boards and trip hazards. Young dock hands are a mixed bag of helpful and not so helpful. Bathrooms were in poor conditions with clogged toilets and other "dirt". On the plus side, the consierge was helfpful with dinner reservations and the in-slip pump out is quick and convenient. Nantucket is great and this location is super but for the eye popping price it seems like they could deliver a bit more.

Stay in June 2015, 2015-07-01
Captain: , Baltimore (180)

Clearly rebuilt after last winter's storms, the lower level facilities look and probably are new. This includes the laundry and bath house. Good service, great location and pre-season ($2/ft) rates. Wonderful!

First Class Operation, 2015-06-09
Captain: , New York, NY (470)

First Class Operation... at first class prices in season. However, I docked in early June at a bargain rate of $1.95 per foot. A very helpful young lady asssited with the lines. We docked stern-to between fixed fingers with pilings. All of the staff were professional, competent, and exceedingly pleasant. Good showers and clean restrooms. Once secured to the dock, you are in the heart of Nantucket, with a myriad of great restaurants and activities. Great beaches within a few miles bike ride, or there are convenient buses. Also, a huge plus--a large Stop-n-Shop grocery store immediately adjacent to the marina.

Location, location, location, 2015-06-02
Captain: , Boston (40)

Top notch service, friendly staff, and hey, you're in Nantucket. The only negative is the non floating permanently fixed docks so you have to check your bumpers and lines a few times a day.

Worth the trip - 3 visits in last 6 years, 2015-02-22
Captain: , Huntington (465)

It is far and expensive but there is only one Nantucket Boat Basin. It has everything and is the middle of everything. We had the best family vacation there as the weather cooperated. Jeep ride on the beach is worth it.

The marina is right in the middle of town and a short walk to a real grocery store. The town itself is absolutely charming with many dining and shopping options. Pearl is our favorite but the Boarding House a close second. We have enjoyed the stage productions as a nice evening entertainment alternative. Bike riding is easy and can take the whole day without hills.

The marina itself is extremely well maintained. It has pumpout access within the docks and service by marina staff was excellent. There is a small marine store (Brant Point Marine on 32 Washington Street) almost hidden a quarter of a mile from the marina and a modest priced spa (Life Message at 13 Amelia Drive) about a twenty minute walk out of town. It can get hot in the summer and not all restaurants have a/c. Peak season can be very busy.

One bad apple, 2014-09-10
Captain: , Jersey City (506)

Not a fan. The dock hand could not have been less helpful as we were fitted into a slip too small for my length in a stiff crosswind and current. Left us to our own devices to try and figure out spring lines and some way down onto the fixed docks six feet below and three feet away. Door to the men's shower room was broken and hung open. Expected very different based on AC reviews.

The Chandlery - out of business, 2014-08-26
Captain: , Hertford, NC (215)

The Chandlery listed in Embassy guide closed last year. Brant Point Marine store is small and very limited. Unless there is a marine store we missed, don't count on marine suipplies on Nantuckett. But do rent a bike and tour the island on the bike paths. john

one of the best marinas, 2014-07-13
Captain: , Milford (530)

superb staff, fantastic location, and a Super Stop N Shop is right at the end of the dock. Free pump out at your boat, everything in great condition (though fixed docks). Lots to see and do all around the marina, or grab a town bus and ride the loop for $2 and see the island.

We had a few repairs to make and the staff referred us to great technicians who came right to the dock. we ended up staying 4 nights it was so nice there.

ACK Boat Basin, 2013-11-19
Captain: , Nantucket (10)

Hands down one of the best marinas I have ever been in. The service is great, the people are great, and you will not regret your trip.

allways great, 2013-09-08
Captain: , ft lauderdale (90)

this is allways a stop for me when in new england. I just wish they would put in some floating docks.

Off Season - Just very expensive vs outrageously expensive, 2012-09-26
Captain: , Boston (104)

Outstanding facilities with very wecoming and accomodating staff. Plenty of available slips in late September despite significant discount from regular season rates. Avoid slips #'d 1289 to 1292 unless you like to hear and smell the onsite restaurant's kitchen exhaust fan. Clean restrooms and showers. First class operation.

Top Notch Staff, 2012-08-21
Captain: , East Coast (194)

What a pleasure to stay in a place where the staff is so universally friendly, professional and eager to please. From the moment you hail them upon arrival (and their radio traffic sounds like air traffic control at check-in time) they go the distance to make sure your arrival, stay and departure go as smoothly as possible. They will even move the dock ladders to best accomodate your vessel's setup. Congrats to NBB for running such a well-oiled machine.

Very Nice Place, 2012-07-27
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

The staff was very very helpful. the Docks are fixed wooden docks. The facility is right in town so resturants and bars very close. The place fills up with all size of yachts. There is a ferry you can take to Marthas Vineyard and Hyannis. Will return next time for sure.

Very expensive..., 2012-07-27
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

But...what a location. The town is literally right there. And all around the marina are shops, restaurants and bars.
When we tied up, the docks ladder is about a foot away from where we would step off the boat. Instead of sliding the boat back a foot...they sent someone to move the ladder! We also got a welcome beach bag with Nantucket magazines. Great stop!!!

It doesn't get better, 2012-06-30
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

Wow! We were impressed with the dedicated staff on hand for each of the docks, the dock side pump outs, concierge service and the setting amongst guest cottages on the piers. Right In the downtown action, this place is almost magical on a Friday night when the weekend crowds arrive and the marina fills with boats. Our favorite of the places we visited this summer in New England.

Great place, 2012-05-23
Captain: , Bristol RI (80)

The dock was very close to town large choice of places to eat, drink, shop, and just sit around. Wanted to get into the whaleing Musem But ran out of time. Maybe next time. Electric was quite high along with fuel. The restrooms and showers were kept clean. But could use updateing like a shower dressing area.

Wonderful dock, Great experience, 2011-10-02
Captain: , Newport Beach, CA (100)

9/28/2011: Called for a slip for our 48' power boat and was assigned 1210. Dock hand (Ricky) met us at the slip and did a great job getting us secured. Very close to town and everyone friendly. Off season rate of $2/ft. helped us make the decision to stay 4 days. Elect is high @ $50/day so we chose to run the Gen when we needed it. Will be back next year!

Extremely accommodating dock service, 2011-05-16
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Cost was $25 for 6 hours to dock for day only. Pleasant time spent shopping and eating. Clean & well maintained facility.

Great way to see Nantucket, 2011-02-25
Captain: , Waretown, NJ (354)

As previous reviews stated, the staff is fantastic and could not help you fast enough. Came through the area late October and though out of season the transient pricing seemed a bit high. The huge benifit is your on the back of of town and within walking distance of the restaurants and shops. Facilities were exceptionally clean.

Go for the off-season dicsounted pricing., 2010-06-23
Captain: , MA and Southwest FL (538)

We took advantage of their June pre-season discount, so price was very reasonable for this stay. It is the only game in town, so you won't have other options short of going on hook. Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Location is fantastic. The restrooms were well maintained and kept clean throughout the day. In fact this is my only complaint, as the cleaning staff are not shy and will not wait for the facility to be vacant before entering to do cleaning In season rates don't add up to me though. I've stayed at facilities just as nice, but with more ammenities for far less. Don't plan on buying fuel there either...$6/gal is ridiculous.

Awesome, Green, and Dog Friendly Too, 2009-07-08
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2311)

This a very large docking facility that is well designed and well run. It is all fixed docks, but you would hardly notice. They unbolt, move, and rebolt the ladders to line up with you boats egress, and the tide change of just 3 feet and the generous arrangement of pilings means dock lines need not be adjusted at all during your stay. And ... fixed docks allows them to have an integrated waste management system where a golf cart with a pump and hoses can easily pull up to your boat and do a pump out any time you need.

The environmentally friendly focus of the owners requires that all recyclables are seperated, and all remaining garbage is deposited in clear plastic bags to provide verification that they are absent recyclables. Want to clean your boat ... make sure your cleaning supplied are on the approved list, or puchase a replacement at the local store at the end of the docks.

Awsome applies to both the immacualte and well designed facilities, dock management, and the town itself. The shopping and available activities is really extensive. The dedicated bike paths (paved) are not to be missed, neither are the numerous high end eating options. As best we could tell, requirements to dress well have been waived in favor of getting any customer possible.

I don't know what this town looks like in a good economy, but in a bad economy it is really a hopping place filled with many people, laughter, and good times ... unlike other nearby Islands that are near desolate.

Although you can see 4th july fireworks right from the docks, next time I am going to take the bus or walk to the beach to get to see these tripple A fireworkds up close.

Note: Lisa Flanagan is a local doctor that makes house calls, even to boats. This is much better than visiting the local hospital

the best staff in the NE, 2007-10-04
Captain: , Cape Cod MA (4)

The Best?, 2007-08-07
Captain: , Nantucket and Miami (67)

If it weren't for the fixed docks this would be my pick for Best Marina in the world. And even so, I can't think of a place that I like better. And, yes, they are happy to move the ladders around to suit your boat.

The location is spectacular - right in the heart of Nantucket. All of the necessities of life are very close at hand. In addition to a couple of good restaurants and an excellant bakery right on the docks, there are several excellant restaurants within easy walking distance. The Boat Basin concierge will be happy to make recommendations and reservations.

George Bassett, the Harbormaster, makes sure that everything runs like clockwork. His staff, including the "dockettes" who are so helpful with lines and whatnot, are delightful.

Great, 2007-04-18
Captain: , Greenport, NY (437)

Some of the best and most attentive service in the area. Expectantly expensive.

Worth the trip, 2007-02-02
Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

Nantucket Boat Basin is the best destination marina in the Northeast. Service is over the top with on-site concierge, dock hands who know how to handle you dock lines - and they even moved the dock ladder to accomodate our boat.

This marina is in town for easy access, but you also get a steady stream of tourists walking the docks.
