Reviews for Muscatine Municipal Harbor
Dont Stop Here!, 2015-10-27
Captain: , Red Wing, MN (45)

Was delivering a 45' Carver from Florida to Red Wing, and stoped here third week of October, 2015. Called a day ahead of time to check on diesel and slippage. Was told harobor was 4' to 6', and they had diesel. Harbor was 2' with 4' of silt. Was sitting in the mud, and plugged the strainers. Barely got out in the AM.

Was told attendant would be at fuel dock at 8:00. Showed at 8:45, forgot keys, and came back at 9:30. Diesel nozzel was pluugged solid with spiders. He did not know how to run the credit card machine, could not get it to print a reciept, so wrote me a reciept that said: 882 gallons diesel - $882.00.
This harboe should be closed or better maintained.
DO NOT STOP HERE!!!

Lonesome, but good, 2015-09-09

Enter the marina thru a cut in the levee wall. Docks immediatly to left in front of a big building are for Transients. Power and water on the docks, free no charge. No restrooms or showers. There is a port-a-potty near fuel dock. Fuel dock on river just up from Marina. For fuel call the city parks dept before 4 pm and someone will come down and serve you. Took plastic for pay no problem. We found good local resturants just a few blocks away from marina.
Past floods and a poor local economy have put restrictions on funding for site. Over all appearnce no bright, but the adjacent park is well kept.

Minimal Marina just dockage staff not knowlegeble or on site, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Stopped for day and found that the Park staff did not have knowledge of the slip sizes. Tried to put us into a 15' slip inspite of being told repeatedly that we are 16' beam. Harbor is shallow and is being dredged. The only slips that could hold our beam were double wide courtsey slips each for two small boats. $1.00 a foot power and water included. Found 5' at entrance but only 2' to 3' in slip along the finger piers. Found 4-5' in middle of slip... all at normal pool.

Oct 2013, I brought a house boat down from Red Wing, MN. & diesel was $3.61, every other stop was over $4.00 to a high of $4.25. It's on the channel but we had no problem on a day that the wind was 20+ out of the south.

We have had problems twice in this area. Very difficult to identify who might help. Best bet is in the Quad cities. When the river is low the entrance can be a problem

Protected harbor, is usually free because no one collects from the city. Docks need maintenance. Downtown easy access to city
