Reviews for Munising - Bayshore Marina
A great little marina, 2017-06-02
Captain: , Bayfield, WI (340)

We stopped here on our way to Sault Ste. Marie. We were planning to anchor on the south side of Grand Island, but it was too cold and rainy. We're glad we stopped here. The harbor master, Eddie, was extremely helpful with both the marina accommodations, and also what to do in town. It's an older facility, but well taken care of and very clean. This marina does not have diesel, but there's a gas station only a block away. No issues with depth - we saw 9ft at the dock. Lots of tour boats and tourists to see Pictured Rocks. The docks have a locked gate and video cameras, so we didn't worry much about all the people around. The town is really nice, with grocery, restaurants, hardware, gift shops, gas stations, and drug stores all within easy walking distance. We enjoyed our stay, and were happy to spend an extra day here.

Its an okay place, 2017-01-12

Tour boats to Pictured Rocks shoreline make this a busy spot. If you're making a transit of Lake Superior you will be going out of your way to put in at Munising. Its a likable enough town with plenty to offer within walking distance and the staff at Bayshore are accommodating and thorough. You won't find diesel here.

Adults manage the marina. Good wifi. Cost is $45 for 36 ft. Laundromat is about 5 blocks away.

Great staff, 2014-07-20

These folks went out of their way to fit us in, even though they were pretty full. Bathrooms were clean and separate from the general public ones used by dozens of tour boat passengers. Great concert in the park right above the marina. Easy walk to restaurants. Try to time your cruise past pictured rocks for the afternoon light.

We love Bayshore Marina, 2013-06-13

We stayed here for a week in June, 2013. I had been through about four years earlier and we chose Munising to stop and pick up a passenger from Minneapolis because everything is within walking distance of the marina. There is even a local bus service that took us as far as Marquette for $6.

Good showers/bathrooms are in good working condition and there is a nice park/community gathering spot adjoining the marina with a farmers and artist market once per week.

Dawn, the harbor master, is a former cruiser and very sensitive to the needs of boaters. Her partner, Randy, was also very helpful. They were nice enough to take me to the lumberyard and loan me some tools to help get a repair done.

We struggled getting on and off the dock in strong southerly breezes. Dawn says she has applied for and money has been approved for an expansion of the marina. If this happens Munising will be one of the best stopping places for boaters on the south shore of Lake Superior.

This is a good marina that has a friendly and helpful staff. The only transient dock is a tie on the side. It is on the east side of the long dock. All the finger docks are for transients. Gas and pump-outs are available but no diesel. There is a gas station with diesel nearby. This is a great place to provision, with groceries, hardwares, autoparts stores providing some marine needs, and a Radio Shack. All within a 10-15 minute walk.
