Additional info:

Despite what the charts say, it is reported that there is 7 to 8 feet of water all the way to the docks at MLW. Stay about 100-150 yards off Black Point as you head due west towards the outer face of F-dock (the furtherest east set of docks). The charted magenta restricted area dashed line is pretty much the course you want to follow in once clear of Black Point.

Between F-Dock and the T-Dock (western dock) there are a few spots that are right at 6 feet MLW. The bottom is soft mud, so really isn't a problem.

The ends of the floating docks open to the south, with slips to east/west. The easternmost dock being A with docks lettered to E running consecutively to the west. Even number slips are on the east side of the dock, odd numbers on the western side of the dock.

E dock has a gasoline pump, and a sewage pump-out.

Reviews for Mulberry Cove Marina, MWR
Wide Open Exposure, 2016-06-25
Captain: , Beverly, MA (1130)

This is a great place to spend some time, the base has all the amenities needed although quite a long walk. Laundry is free at the Camp grounds. Biggest downside is that the marina is totally exposed to most weather systems and is quite rocky. Docks are very nice and mordern but the openess is disconcerting. Don't be here in a south blow.

Great if the weather is right, 2015-05-06

Beautiful grounds surrounding marina. Floating docks. 30amp power (there are a few 50 amp around, but they are hard to find) Understand it gets rough with a south or southeast wind.

Water smelled of high chlorine levels, guessing recently installed lines hadn't been flushed yet.

The pumpout is dock E is barely functional.

A 35 min slow walk gets you to the commissary and NEX, both of which are huge. There is a smaller convenience store about 1/4 mile

Can't beat the price! Beautiful area to walk around. Big trees, picnic facilities, grass. Was there on a Sat afternoon 'til Sunday noon, and it was a very quiet place this time of year.

We love NAS-JAX, 2015-04-09
Captain: , The Villages, FL (368)

We love NAS-JAX! Must be military or retired military to stay here. Two restrooms that have showers with lots of hot water. Another newer restroom-only (no showers) building contains 2 men's and 2 women's stalls.

Subway subs and small grocery/convenience store very close ... less than 1/4 mile. Farther down is a full PX with a large food court....all types of food. And FREE laundry facilities if you are willing to walk a bit to the RV FamCamp.

No problems with electric or water.

The marina office is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We were entertained by the constant stream of Navy helicopters and jets performing training missions on the water in front of the marina. The helicopters would hover, someone would jump from the helicopter into the water, then they would drop a line and retrieve the person. They did this constantly for over 8 hours. It's dark now and they are still doing it. We enjoyed the show but the noise could be bothersome to others.

Only gave it 4 stars because it does tend to be a bit bouncy. Not really choppy but a little more movement than we would like. Try to get a slip as far away from river as possible to avoid the chop.

NAS Jacksonville Marina, 2014-02-12

Beautiful new floating docks but I would only use in winds out of the northern quadrant. No protection from the south. Coast was $10.00 per day including electric. Nothing within walking distance on the base.

Nice layover, 2013-12-15
Captain: , Mayport Florida (292)

Excellent new concrete floating docks but exposed to southerly winds/waves. New pump out facilities appear to be underpowered, not creating enough suction to empty holding tanks. Heads and showers are old but relatively clean. Found staff to be friendly but lacking basic boating knowledge on more than one occasion.

New docks completed and a big disappointment., 2013-09-07
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (471)

The new piling and the floating docks are well built, but the new design has failed miserably to provide any protection from the fetch when the wind is over 15kts from the south to southeast. It's hard to believe, but the conditons were now worse with the new floating dock than they are with the old wooden fixed docks.

In moderate storm with 20-30kts of wind from the south in June this year our 42' sailboat was moored on dock "C" with the docklines all doubled. During the storm five of our 3/4" docklines had been broken. At least four other boats also experienced broken lines at the new docks.

The heavy outer docks were supposed to act to reduce the waves, but were not up to the job. All of floating docks were rising and falling 3-4' and were totally out of synch with the boats, putting tremendous strain on the lines. Luckily no boat sustained any major damage.

The marina manager, Phil Collins, suggested that the lines should be snubbed tight to the docks. In my option that would have broken the lines even quicker.

It is a real dissapointment that this convenient and reasonably priced marina was designed and built to the limited funds available rather than with the safety of the boats and boaters in mind.

It is good marina with a very friendly and helpful staff for a short stop in fair weather, but if the winds are forecast to be over 15kts from the south, I strongly recommend moving the boat to the Ortega River or to Jacksonville Landing downtown.

I will not be putting my boat in danger there again until some kind of breakwater is built to protect the marina.

Great Staff, 2013-01-02
Captain: , Mulberry Cove Marina (10)

This marina is located at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville which means that you must be affiliated with the military to use it. With that being said, I would like to write a review about the staff and facilities. The staff members, Jon, Zack, "The Mechanic behind the scenes", and the marina manager Phil Collins, are 4 of the most helpful individuals I have ever come across while out and about sailing. Not only will they help you with docking, minor boat problems, and checking on you to make sure things are alright when you are out sailing, but the marina manager is also a very knowledgeable fisherman and is always ready to assist you with any fishing adventure you plan to embark on. This place gets a 5 star rating from my wife and I because every single time we walk in there, we can count on quality service.

Construction commencing, 2012-06-20
Captain: , Eglin AFB (150)

The docks were severely damaged in the unnamed storm in May 2012. They are scheduled to be demolished and construction of new floating concrete docks to begin on June 28th 2012. I was told by the dockmaster that there will be no transient space available until construction is complete near the end of 2012. I reccomend calling prior to heading into the marina for current status updates.

Great unless strong winds from south, 2011-11-15
Captain: , Annapolis (602)

For those that can take advantage of it, great marina. Mooring field to be rebuilt at some point. 15+ mile open water fetch from the south down St Johns River can be serious in a blow. Great staff, best base marina store we've seen, fabulous price, Enterprise Car Rental nearby, PAX terminal, and oldest Navy Yacht Club - NJYC.

Mulberry Cove Marina, 2008-12-03
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

Very friendly staff. Large mooring field. Most of the docks are too small for cruising size boat. Dockage on the T heads is usually taken up by larger boats belonging to active duty personell. Charged a daily rate of $8.30. No charge for dink dock.

People R Great, 2007-11-15
Captain: , orrs island maine (57)

The friendly people are the best asset. If there was a breakwater to the South and floating docks it would be 4 or 5 star
