Reviews for Mud Island Marina/Memphis Yacht Club
Great staff; facility needs refresh, 2016-12-10
Captain: , United States (3142)

We spent two weeks here in November. First let me say that dockmaster Andy Andersen was a consumate host and his staff treated us well. Andy gave us a good rate for our off-season two week stay, and we will certainly stop here again if we again come down the river.

A few things keep me from awarding more stars; unfortunately these things are outside of the marina's (yacht club's) control.

First is the condition of the docks. The wood is old, weathered, and in some places rotting; I put my foot right through in one spot. We stepped gingerly on our way to and from the boat, carfully avoiding several bad spots. Andy tells me the city owns the docks and they are not high on the maintenance budget priority list.

Second is the incessant music, which comes from loudspeakers on the Tennessee Visitor Center across the channel. It plays 24/7, and ruins what would otherwise be a peaceful night. Fortuntely we were running our heat most of the time, but if we wanted to have some windows open, it would be miserable. We talked to the visitor center about it; they claimed it should be on a timer and stop at 11pm, but it most certainly did not.

The final issue is lack of access to downtown. There is a pedestrian bridge, with a tramway underneath, but it is seasonal with the Mud Island Park that hosts the marina. It was closed while we were there; even in season, it closes too early for dinner. Keycard access to the walkway would add a star just by itself.

We have scooters so had no trouble getting around. Even without, there are several restaurants and even a small grocery store an easy walk from the marina, in the on-island Harbor Town community. Some of the restaurants there are among the best in all Memphis.

If you go in season, the Mississippi River model at the Mud Island Park is not to be missed. Even though the park was already closed for the season, the model was still running when we arrived and we enjoyed it very much.

Kudos to Andy and his staff, and here's hoping that the City of Memphis will put some money into the docks and Mud Island access.

Nice facility, friendly staff, 2016-11-02

Stopped here for diesel fuel on our way to New Orleans on 10-18-2016. Access to Memphis and the River Park. Wish we had time to stay awhile. Tom Ray on Raydiance

Great location for visiting Memphis! Extra nice night view of the city., 2014-10-25
Captain: , Russellville, AR (133)

Stayed about a week and enjoyed every day. If you walk up to Mud Island and cross over the pedestrian bridge, you can be downtown in less than 20 minutes or spend $4 and take the tram over. Mud Island is an excellent tour and should be seen. Marina is very secure. A 20 minute walk will take you to Harbor Town with nice restaruants, river walk, and grocery store. The night view of the city from the Marina is pretty. Marina staff are very helpful.

Happy mooring!!!, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Memphis, TN (13)

The facilities and amenities do not leave much to be desired. Gas and diesel fuel dock (89 octane, non-ethanol), dry dock, sanitary pump out services, shower and free laundry facility on-site, free wi-fi, cable or satellite and phone capacity, water hook-up and free usage, two security gates, two marina personnel on-site 24/7, Memphis Police Harbor Patrol on-site, reciprocity with various yacht clubs around the country, mechanics and technicians, as well as cleaning services are available by appointment only. In addition to fuel, the marina store provides, groceries, alcohol, cigarettes, merchandise and some parts and accessories.

The first choice to visist Memphis, 2012-10-13
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Stopped to visit Memphis and pickup mail. Memhis has many attractions but cuation is needed as there are many aggressive street huststers around the main attractions. Water level was falling so we had to leave early to get out of the harbor which is due to be dredged soon (no date gjiven) Park at top over marina is well worth seeing and the River Model. Enterprise will pick up and parkinig is convenient to the marina. The pedestrian bridge monorail to Front St downtown across the channel stops at 5:00 pm!!! Check to be sure of operating hours otherwise it is a cab ride back.

Good people, 2012-04-06
Captain: , Absarokee Mt (1228)

This stop at about MM 735 is the first Marina you can tie up since Hoppies about 350 miles upstream. The staff were very helpful, gave us a ride to "Tugs" a good resturant/sports bar about 1 mile away. A groc store is adjacent, in the same block for resupply. A visit to the Peabody Hotel was on our list so we could see the famous Ducks walk from the lobby fountain to the elevators. Great tourist stop, good rib resturants downtown. Diesel fuel was $3.99 as previously posted.

Facility ok, town terrific stop., 2011-10-13
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)
