Reviews for Mt Clemens Municipal Marina
Mt. Clemens Municipal Marina. Meh........., 2016-06-04
Captain: , Belle Maer (10)

Traveled in for the day on June 4th, 2016. I was somewhat disappointed. This "marina" doesn't appear to be a priority for the city. Every dock was covered in goose poop, and the wood on a few of the docks needed some attention (and, by 'attention', I mean 'replacement').
It would've been easy enough to grin and bear the goose poop situation if I could've simply hosed off the dock, which I was willing to do. Unfortunately, the water was turned off. I also wanted to run the A/C on the boat. No joy there either, because the shore power wasn't turned on.
The slips contained an alarming amount of "stuff" along the seawall (logs, tree branches, partially-submerged trash, etc), making it somewhat difficult to dock, particularly when docking stern to.
Also, while the river itself is plenty deep, there were depth issues in the slips themselves. My boat drafts 34", and I buried the outdrives in soft mud about 7 feet from the seawall while trying to set my lines.
The Downtown area of Mt. Clemens is pretty nice these days. lots of little shops, abundant dining and drinking options are within an easy walk of the boat slips.
The bottom line: I think it's unlikely that we'll be returning. The facility simply doesn't justify the 3-hour round trip from open water. If you must go, don't count on power being available, and look carefully for debris and for sufficient depth when docking.

1.5 hour senic ride up river, 2013-11-24
Captain: , Clinton River (372)

The previous poster is wrong. It's only 7 miles from the lake, and takes about 1.5 hours at 5 mph (no wake speed). Decent depth all the way, as the Army Corps of Engineers has done several dredging projects all the way from the lake, to this facility in downtown Mt Clemens. River is also decently wide enough for 60 footers to pass each other, just don't get too close to shore. It's not for sailboats due to 2 bridges you must cross under, both over 20 ft high, but not quite enough for even a small sailboat mast.

They've had lots of live weekend concerts there with land lubbers lining the shores along the river, in conjunction with many of the walkable bars & restaurants also joining in with weekend specials.

Highlight of the season, is a fairly large fireworks display around 4th of July. Downtown streets are even closed completely down & although I won't say it's the Mardis Gras of the north, it does offer a nice family type venue.

If you want dockage for the 4th of July festivities, you better get your boat there a couple days in advance. Even if you find the wells completely full, there's pretty good & safe rafting along a long seawall

For the last two years there has been yellow tape accross the docks closing them due to shallow water. It will take you 3.5 hours to get to this habor of refuge from the lake. As the whole river is no wake.

Marina Improvements, 2013-03-29
Captain: , Lake St. Clair (17)

This marina is up river 7 miles from Lake St. Clair it is a nice scenic run to the marina.
It is going through a renovation of sorts a new harbor commission is looking to improve it
over the next year. This marina has full service well and seawall dockage with rafting available. There is a facility for showers and restrooms. This marina is a great destination, for boat clubs, with plenty of restaurants, bars/clubs within close walking distance this marina makes for a great overnight stay.
