Reviews for Moss Marina
Great, helpful folks, 2016-10-06
Captain: , North Fort Myers, FL (10)

Stayed for three days early October 2016. Dock guys were very helpful tying up, docking too. For 32 foot boat with shore power, taxes and all was around $72/day. In my limi experience, don't know if that's high or low.
Great location, close to good food and drink, beach too.
Nice lounge area, showers, washers and dryer.

Great location, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Freeport (141)

Walking distance to many restaurants and the beach. Current can make it a little trouble tricky docking but not wasn't too bad. Dock hands very helpful getting us tied up. If you can get in at slack tide would make simple. Nice facilities.

Great place to stop and stay!, 2016-04-29
Captain: , Ennismore (50)

We arrived here Dec 12th. Docks are all brand new and not seeing any signs of the building being run down as per previous review. Location is amazing with beach, shopping and grocery all within walking distance. The staff here go above and beyond. After a day shopping or at the beach, just sit on your boat and watch the boat traffic. No wake zone so no rocking. I would definitely come here again.

Nice marina, central location, 2016-03-23
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (600)

Daily transient rate is kind of a mystery. We are 43 feet and it was $ 102.50 per day with electric. Kyle and Dan are great dock hands. Pointed out that there was a swift current running when I was going to dock. Told me to come straight into slip. Ez Pezee. Great boaters lounge, showers, and laundry.

Outstanding staff, 2016-03-02
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

Truly the staff is what makes this place so fantastic! Personable, helpful, knowledgeable, accommodating, and happy crew! They treated us like family and went above and beyond to accommodate us during our 2 month stay. New wood on docks. Ideal location. pet friendly, huge captains lounge. The Big M casino is gone, so disregard other reviews complaining about it. we will see these great folks again next year!

Has its pros and cons, 2016-01-23
Captain: , Bay City, MI (609)

No transient rate is on this site, nor is their rate posted on their website. When I called, I was told we don't have a daily rate - for the dock space for a 42 foot boat it was $108. The weather was bad and we had to say a second day. When we had a mechanical problem and asked to stay a third day - and could they give us a break, they said no. We found a way to get out of there.

Pros, great location, good bathrooms, nice and capable staff
Cons, pricing really high, deferred maintenance on docks , bathrooms not clean

Why is this a sponsor? They are not transient friendly?

Great Location, but ..., 2015-11-08
Captain: , Palmetto (412)

I%u2019ve stayed in this marina several times over the last five years and was surprised to see it so run down during my recent visit. The building is falling apart with pieces rusted through and dangling, the decking on the pier was weathered and breaking apart, the heads were fairly clean but in need of upkeep. The boater%u2019s lounge is still a nice feature; unfortunately, there was a big dog, unsupervised, and just lying around.
The dog walk areas are overgrown and contained a lot of droppings and sand spurs.

Great stop over, 2015-05-25
Captain: , Dunedin, Florida (122)

Stopped here in our return from the Dry Tortugas. Easy access from the Gulf and very close to the beach and restaurants.

I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful they were. From helping us dock and pushing off to loaning us some hose to fill our aft water tanks.

Big M Casino boat suppoesedly leaving, docks being refurbed., 2015-05-24
Captain: , Baytown, Texas (70)

Nice enough boaters lounge w/ at least one hundred paper back and hard back books (assume for swapping), washers and dryers clean and worked well. Docks are being refurbed and finger piers were about all finished, main dock planking still old and splintery-23May2015. Was told the huge, view blocking Big M Casino boat which resides at the end of A dock will be going to N or S Carolina so the view should improve. Not the cheapest place but close to restaurants and bars on the North end of Estero. Bikes available if you ask. Matt was very helpful. Ask about his semi trained Egret(?) Semi, because Matt claimed he couldn't stop him from crapping on my swim platform :(

Very friendly Staff, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Clayton, NY (645)

Beautiful boaters lounge with TV, WIFI, laundry and bathrooms. Close to the beach, stores and restaurants of Ft Myers Beach. Grocery store about 1.5 mi away. Easy by bike. You pass all of the cars who are stuck in traffic.

Great Location, 2015-02-04
Captain: , Penetanguishene, ON (162)

We stayed here for a month. It's a great location, fairly quiet, within a couple of blocks of the beach, times square and all the action. There is a trolley that will take you to publix/attractions for .75$ and it has a great boater's lounge and four private bathrooms with large showers.
One note, on our month-long stay we saw several boats get caught by the current while docking and get swept onto other boats. When making a reservation, ask for an outside dock on A or C docks. The inside docks are very tight. Also, try to time arrival during slack tide.

Greta Location, 2014-12-01
Captain: , Gasparilla Marina (30)

Stayed there one night during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to view the sand sculptures. Very courteous staff with Matt showing us where to dock and helped with the lines and shore power. Clean facilities and nice lounge. Great location within walking distance to the beach and many restaurants. We will stay there again when visiting Ft Myers beach.

Ghost Town, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (356)

We came in after close on a Sunday night, needing fuel and some rest. Tied up at the outer wall of the fuel dock. Power and water were available, but the showers were locked...all as expected. Woke up early to fuel and get underway...staff was courteous, but anxious for us to move. Easy to get to and from, just before the bridge. I'll stop there again, but take an inner slip so we don't feel so rushed.

Wonderful stay. 7/22, 2014-07-23
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (980)

We stopped overnight... They have new management, cleared out the derelict boats, and have plans to fix docks. Still a nice place for short term

We stayed here for a month, during the high season and then afterward when our boat was repaired. The staff was great, showers and Laudry facilitys clean and reasonable. There are a few applicence in the captians lounge. My only request would be to boost their Wi-Fi ablilites on the dock.

Nice Place, 2014-06-12
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (651)

Stopped to reprovision, Topps grocery is about a mile away and a cheap trolley ride.
Current could be a problem here as mentioned by other reviewers, arrived at slack tide and docked without a problem.

Great Place to Stay, 2014-05-02
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (250)

We stayed for 10 days and loved it. Friendly staff, great location (walking distance to restaurants, stores, beach), lots to do. Not really close to grocery store but can take the $.25 trolly to Publix. Wi-fi, bathrooms and boaters lounge are great. Clean. Boaters lounge has BIG screen TV and new furniture. The drawbacks are no cable, and old fixed wooden docks. We were told that there are plans to replace the docks, but who knows.
The Big M Casino boat docks at the end of A Dock, where most transients are docked. There is a parade of people boarding and unboarding whenever the Big M goes out, but we didn't find it an annoyance at all. Everything very orderly and well supervised. We wished everyone good luck as they boarded.

Would definitely come back.

What a wonderful marina, 2014-04-30
Captain: , St Petersburg, FL (65)

Relatively low cost, even for the area, but some of the best facilities. Wi-fi connection was outstanding with plenty of band width. Nothing I've seen before. The large club area has plenty of seating, free coffee for the making and a large TV (though only a few channels). The bathrooms are outstanding. Large areas with plenty of water pressure, nice size sink areas.

The location is outstanding. Short walk to nice beach and excellent restaurants. $0.50 for a trolly ride to anywhere in Fort Myers Beach including a nice publix ($1.50 for unlimited for the day). We also took the trolly north to catch a bus which will go as far north to Fort Myers. There is a nearby outlet mall after short bus ride and a bit further to nicer malls in the area. We were told that the dead mall where the Trolly ends will soon have a Super Walmart coming in - so future trips to the area will be that much more convenient.

About the only bad thing I'll say is pumpout was a bit pricey, but diesel was reasonable with a discount for those that stay - so I'll call it even.

As everyone else said, beware the strong currents. We were on an end dock and almost had hit transom hit twice by motor boaters not paying attention. Also the cruise ship put out quite a bit of wake when leaving and coming in to the end dock - so we learned quickly to not try to pull the boat up until they were gone.

All in all - highly recommend.

Exceptional staff, good facilities, convenient to everything, 2014-03-16
Captain: , San Marcos, TX (865)

We stayed here for just over a month (Feb/Mar 2014). We have a catamaran so we were docked at the end of C dock. We stayed at a marina so we could leave it for a couple of weeks while we flew back to Texas. It was safe and secure the whole time. Marina staff and local liveaboards checked on it and the facility has security cameras everywhere.

The docks are fixed wooden docks with large wood pilings, so we were glad we had sturdy fender boards. Parts of the dock are showing age, but the dockmaster told me they will be doing renovation soon. Lots of local boat traffic in Matanzas Pass, especially on weekends. Tidal currents drift north & south each day, so set springlines both ways and allow for approx 2-3 ft tide.

Marina has a separate secure boaters lounge with TV, coffee, laundry (2W/2D), and 4 private head/sink/shower rooms. They were always very clean and well stocked.

This marina has the strongest, most consistent wifi of anyplace we've been. All docks have their own antenna.

Marina is walking distance to many shops, good restaurants & live music venues, 3 blocks to Times Square and the beach. It is a short dinghy ride to repair/parts facilities in the pass. Trolley stops one block away. Publix grocery is on the north/south trolley route. 50 cents per person each way.

The marina staff are exceptional (5 star). They are all friendly, and very customer service oriented. Many thanks to Linda, Devon, GT, David & Matt for making us feel welcome during our stay.

Nice , but expensive slip rent, 2013-09-28
Captain: , Montgomery Alabama (1102)

I came here because the slip rent was less than $2.00 a foot . Got here and found it was 30 feet minimum . That knocked out any savings for me as we are 26 feet
Boaters lounge very nice with laundry and shower facilities . Got WiFi on A dock
Got very public when casino boat loaded or unloaded
Topps supermarket 1.25 miles by dinghy from here

Marina or Gambling Ship Operator, 2013-07-01
Captain: , St. Teresa, FL (60)

Overall good marina with good staff and nice facilities: lounge, showers, laundry. However, fuel expensive, WIFI not accessible at dock (you must be in lounge), strong current at times, and gambling ship workers and gamblers made for a busy dock when it came in. I'm not sure if this is primarily a marina or a gambling ship operator.

One of the few marinas on Fort Myers Beach, 2013-05-01
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

Lots of current to dock here. Docks are not that good. Nice laundry and showers. Walk or bike to Fort Myers Beach and watch the sunset. Lots of restaurants and tourist stuff. Fuel available but not best price. Casino M boat left from our dock, so we had lots of traffic a few times each day.

Definitely will do again, at slack current, 2012-11-20
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (979)

We took an end-tie on C-dock for a Saturday evening at The Beach. With bad timing, we arrived at near max ebb current, running about 2.5 kts under the bridge. At least our assigned space was a direct appraoch, albeit with a very large Offshore Sailing School cat there ahead of us. So, running sterns-to into the current, I crabbed our own cat sideways until the very helpful dockhands took lines and got us secured. One of the most challenging dockings I ahve done, next time we'll do it at slack current. They could not have been more professional nor the office staff more helpful, great people who made it vastly easier to land in such a current. As for amenities and resrouces, the prior reviews have it all correct. We are especially partial to the Matanzas Inn as great food and one of the least touristy places there. Also said to be a great oyster place but haven't found it yet.

Well run, busy place, 2012-04-01
Captain: , walpole, me (101)

The office staff and the dock staff are all very competent and hard working. The rest rooms and showers are spacious and (usually) clean. Great boaters lounge. Close to all the activity of Ft Myers Beach including numerous restaurants, bars, shopping (especially gift shops) and, of course, the beach. Easy access to the Gulf. We were there off and on for 4 weeks and the casino boat never caused us a problem. There is a busy small boat fuel dock and not all the customers know what they're doing, so keep fenders out on the water side if you're on that run.

Good for Ft. Myer's Beach, 2012-02-15
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

Dock hands are very helpful. The facilities are clean and the boaters lounge is large with a kitchen area (no stove) with toaster, microwave and coffee. Also a laundry area and 4 large bathroom/showers. The current with tide change can get strong. The tide change was about 2.5 to 3 feet so depending on your boat it could be difficult at times to get on and off. The docks are fixed finger docks, so stern in could be a better method to dock. Fuel (diesel and gas) is available, but contrary to the sign it is expensive. For diesel Ballards down the channel on the opposite side of the channel is close to 75 cents less expensive. There are some nice facilities down the channel further, but it does get narrow and shallow. For eating out Nervous Nellies and Matanzas Inn and restaurant are within walking distance as is the beach and shopping for the ladies. There is a trolly that will take you wherever you would need to go for fifty cents a ride, we took it to Publix. The post office is about 1 mile away. All in all this is a good spot and fairly nice facility.

Good value, 2011-11-27
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (30)

Friendly staff. Great boater's lounge, showers, laundry. Small store. Convenient trolley to Publix. Fixed, splintery dock. Short finger piers. Wicked current. Overall opinion above average. Would stay again.

Moss runs a great little marina, 2011-02-17
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach (276)

Fuel is ethanol free and the ship store is fairly well stocked. They do not sell live shrimp for fishing. Within walking distance to restuarants and the Fort Myers Beach pier. There is a 7-eleven within walking distance as well for supplies. The Big "M" floating casino does take on passengers there, so it can get a little noisy but then again, Fort Myers Beach is not exactly the most quiet of places.

Great Location, 2011-01-19
Captain: , Cleveland (2062)

We almost didn't stay here because of some of the previous reviews but we were glad we did. It's a short walk to the 'old' Ft. Myers Beach. Many restaurants - and the pier is here also.

Docks were fixed and in very nice condition. The casino boat was in when we were here overnight and it does run generators all night but for us it was not an issue. Nice park at the west end of the island - easy to bike to (marina rents if you don't have bikes).

RR were clean - nice large room with head, shower and sink. Definitely would stay again.

Proximity to "town"/beach, 2009-06-07
Captain: , Nashville (260)

Nice facility and people
Clean captain's lounge w/ coffee, kitchen
Clean showers, heads
Gambling boat detracts from ambiance
Some liveaboards irritable, unfriendly - as if imposed upon by outsiders/visitors
Easy walk to downtown restaurants, beach, sites

Florida prices, 2008-01-09
Captain: , Key Largo (5304)

$2.24 a foot, fixed dock. Close to beaches and dinning. Had a problem, otherwise, I would have used the mooring field.
