Mores town (Government) dock., 2012-02-12

The government dock is used for larger fishing boats and the mail boat and has ladders on each side which can be used by dingies or smaller fishing boats. Pastor Nixon Simms, wife Jennifer, runs a little resturaunt just south of the dock which offers good food at a reasonalble price. They also have a small dingy dock. The building is currently painted yellow and the majority of the people take their food away but they do have a dining room. There are several small groceries on the island and the people are very warm and accomodating. The anchorage north of the Government dock has good holding in about 10 feet of water and offers good protection to NE and E winds. A hurricane hole with deep water is on the north west side of the island which is surrounded by mangroves. Some shallows are present iin the entrance to the hole but I am sure one of the very friendly locals will help show you the way. I was lucky enough to meet Johnathan Dean, an old wooden boat builder who showed me the entrance.
