Reviews for Montour Falls Marina
This Marina is appropriate for boat 20 feet or less ONLY, 2016-08-23
Captain: , Willsboro Bay Marina (2401)

We, with our 40 foot Trawler, had adventurously engaged ourselves in the small channel.

We had an old version of Skipper Bob. And I suggested to Lise to go to the Montour Falls... Mile 33.5 which said: " Tie up in the large marina at the end of the 2 mile canal.

Free Dock. " Historical note : Montour Falls was the terminus of the Chemung Canal that connected the southern end of Seneca Lake with Waverly on the Pennsylvania and New- York border, some 10 miles to the South.... Lise was eager to go for a swim after a long day... I said lets go down to see the Montour Falls and dock for free and bicycle to the Watkins Glen....

ERROR : Then we got all the way to the End ! an we noticed that it was the end of the Canal wide enough for boat 20 feet or less.

Our Pilgrim 40 was quite impressive to the locals... When we found out that we were at the End.

Our practice in backing-up approx. 60 feet in a narrow channel in 6 - 7 feet of water was a spectacle of Cirque du Soleil (without music).

Lise and I managed to turn around using our bow thruster and hard port rudder technique. Slow is pro they said well we did it like pros!

We met both owners Micheal and Brownie. They are really helpful and will do their best to accommodate you.

Extremely boat friendly and pleasant. They made our day considering the error I made. Meeting these extraordinary people was genial! Kudos to both!
