Reviews for Monterey Municipal Marina
Watch out for the sea lions., 2015-08-13

When you get close, hour away call the harbor master and ask for a slip assignment. Enter the harbor following the channel that is marked with buoys. At the 2nd break-wall sound your horn and enter the marina. The fairways are wide and make it easy to get into the slips. After securing your boat head to the harbor master office by going down the dock towards town and then following the water around to the right. There they will sign you in and give you keys, men & women are different which my wife likes.

Shopping is near by. Across the bike trail there is %u201CThe Wharf Marketplace%u201D which has fresh vegetables, a deli counter, coffee, wine, beer, milk. If you go to the end of the municipal wharf #2 there is a fresh fish market. Across Del Monte Avenue there is a little market that has all your adult beverage and ice needs (.1 mi, 5 minutes). A Trader Joe's is located at Munras and Webster streets (.5 mi, 15 minutes) and the furthest we had to go was to Safeway at Canyon Del Rey and Fremont streets (2.6 mi, 60 minutes).

Fisherman's Wharf is a tourist destination located about a mile down the water front and is fun to go and people watch and browse the shops. Prices are normal for a tourist destination. At the end of the wharf are the whale watching boats which are the same ones that are next to you in the marina.

Cannery Row is a hour walk (1.5 miles) down the walking/bike trail. Again it is a tourist destination but there are interesting things to see. At the end of Cannery Row is the Monterey Bay Aquarium. At the time we were there an adult ticket was $39.95.

In the marina watch out for the sea lions. They will take over your dock and the smell is terrible. Also they spend most of the night barking, fighting, and defecating. You will not be happy in the morning as they not only defecate on the dock but it will get on the sides of your boat. It STAINS! How do you get rid of them? Stomp your feet, clap hands or the best thing is shoot them with a water hose. After 1 day of shooting every sea lion that came close they no longer try to get on the dock next to us (they are someone else's problem).

We left for San Simeon at 4:00am and the marina has a person there 24 hours a day. Call the night number and they will meet you at the harbor master office.

Good price, great location, 2014-09-14

Got a single slip here for $35/night all inclusive. The management is very laid back about checkout time. Good shower and bathroom. Trader Joe's about 1/2 mile away, and more restaurants that you could possibly enjoy. Running trail to and past Monterey Bay Aquarium from marina. Sea lions abound and may be on your slip when you dock!

Location, service, and value, 2012-07-25
Captain: , Kirkland, WA (4478)

Monterey Marina is centrally located near services and attractions in Montery. 24 hour guard staff is available by phone for after hours arrival and departure. Well protected marina but still a bit of surge inside. Restaurants and attractions very close by. The only thing missing is nearby grocery. Trader Joes and Whole Foods are a long-walk from the marina. Very helpful staff.

friendly marina next to Cannery Row, 2011-06-09
Captain: , San Francisco (409)

Friendly marina with most services nearby. Boatyard (Monterey Bay Boatworks) and small chandlery located located within walking distance. Fisherman's Wharf with many restaurants is adjacent to the marina. Cannery Row and Monterey Aquarium within a short walk.

Nice Marina to wait out nasty weather, 2011-02-09
Captain: , Alameda, CA (811)

Friendly marina staff and within easy walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants.

Monterey Bay Marina, 2007-07-24

A good marina but a lot of sea lions to deal with (smell and climbing onto your boat when not attended). A nice walking and bike path you can take to Cannery Row, restuarants, shopping, etc.
