Reviews for Montauk Yacht Club and Marina
A Big Marina with Amenities, 2017-08-06
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (1089)

We found the Montauk Yacht Club (which is only a "club" by name) to be very accomodating with some nice amenities. The marina is quite large so depending on where you docked it can be a bit of a walk to get to them. That said, having a pool, restuarants, bar, courtesy shuttle, bicycles, etc. were a real plus. Only donwside for us was fixed docks with no finger piers so getting on and off the boat was from the transom with a ladder. Depending on the tide, that was a challenge.

Side note: The Harvest on Fort Pond is a great restaurant, very large portions (you can share), fresh local seafood and great bar. Best place we dined.

Love Montauk, 2016-10-13
Captain: , Westport CT (484)

First class marina ...dock hands very on the ball...they were very accommodating in giving us a slip that worked for our old creaky dog.

Town has tons of great places and spent a perfect afternoon on the beach (ridden there on marina's complementary bikes).

However the great marina is attached to a so-so hotel with lots of hamptons attitude. Staff there a mixed bag other than the shuttle drivers who could not have been more helpful.

Definitely a return location for us.

Top Notch Facility and Staff, 2016-09-08
Captain: , Wickford, RI (421)

Montauk Yacht Club is an IGY resort with loads of amenities.
Dock staff is the best we've seen, both knowledgeable and attentive.
Fixed, sturdy docks. We had 13 pilings surrounding us, making secure tie-up for Storm Hermine.
3 heated pools, complementary towels. Bay beach on prem, complete with sand toys, paddle boards and kayaks, chaise lounges, cabanas, towels.
2 restaurants and outdoor bars. Pizza made all day. Bands play in the afternoons.
Dependable shuttle into town and Gosmans dock. Very accommodating. Besides the restaurants at the resort, others that we recommend:
BIRD ON THE ROOF. Great breakfasts
Homemade ice cream:
THE MONTAUK BAKERY. Have to get the jelly filled croissants, but everything is great including take out breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
The one thing needing improvement is the wifi. Slow.

Resort Marina, 2016-09-01
Captain: , Huntington (465)

A true resort marina with tennis courts, pool and very elegant restaurant. Marina facilities are top notch. We try to make it every year. The downside is that you need transportation to make it to town or the ocean beaches. It is on the expensive side but it has more than other places. A great spot for fun with the family.

Van will take you into town as will cab or enterprise rent a car onsite. Restaurant is top of its class in the area. You also can ride bikes into town or to the beaches...all are pretty close. Gym, first rate facilities, spa and tennis make this a special place to visit.

This is where its at!, 2016-07-13

As you probably have realized, no where in the Hamptons is cheap! But this place lets you get the most bang for your buck. We stayed on a mooring ball, used our dinghy to get to and from the marina, and soaked in all of the amenities that come with the yacht club for a fraction of the price of a transient slip. Showers are clean, laundry takes credit cards, both pools are well kept and there is FREE ice! Not to mention, the area is fantastic. Several great dining options within walking distance....Swallow East was hands down the best meal we've had in a while. Small plates to share and great cocktails. The Dock was also a fun experience and is also within walking distance

lots of amenities if that's what you're looking for, 2015-08-19
Captain: , Rochester, NY (200)

Awesome marina, great restaurants, great taxi service, even had an Enterprise rental facility at the marina. Short drive to the Hamptons.......lots of traffic though, give yourself lots of extra travel time.

Pricy by Nice, 2015-08-05
Captain: , Croton on Hudson, NY (93)

Despite the name, this is a resort, rather than a traditional private club. Tons of resort-like ammenities such as restaurants, a spa and two pools. Easy dinghy ride to the other spots on Lake Montauk, such as Rick's Crabby Cowboy (family-friently honky tonk seafood). They run a free shuttle into downtown Montauk. It's $3.00 per foot for a mooring ball, which is a ton, but we were able to call up on a beautiful summer Friday at noon and they still had availability.

Great stopover, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Ossining (20)

We travelled from Ossining to Block Island and back with several stops but none as well run clean and comfortable as this club. Abit pricey but at leaast you get a good product for the money

Good, all depends on who is running it, 2015-02-24
Captain: , Wantagh NY (601)

Lived on Long Island 50+ years and Montauk Yacht Club has changed hands many many times, so never really sure what you get year to year. They do have a nice location and the grounds are excellent with two pools and restaurant. Heavy current through the marina so just take notice when docking. This place is not cheap, so if you stay for a while you will need to see the loan officier!

Big Professional Marina, 2014-08-30
Captain: , NYAC Pelham NY (171)

Huge marina catering to sport fishing boats and large motor yachts. Out of >250 slips we were one of 4 sailing vessels. Like most places on the east end of LI (the land of 2-3 foot tides) docks are fixed. We pulled into a very tight slip with the help of a solid dockhand crew. Your boat will be against raw pilings so be prepared to hang some horizontal fenders. Facility is otherwise topnotch with a Pool and two good restaurants. No fuel dock though. Place is nice...but didn't feel 'homey'

Poor Shore Power, 2014-07-18
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (604)

The marina staff is very helpful and professional, and the shuttle service provided makes getting into town a breeze. Unfortunately the shore power voltage is running at 202 to 206VAC with just a few boats on the dock mid week. Any load on the 50 amp service dropped to voltage to less then 200 VAC. We had to run the generator most of the time because the boat's voltage booster was OOC. We were not the only boat operating a generator and some of the local captains said this was not a new problem. The marina manager was notified of the problem but after 5 days nothing had been done to improve the voltage. Hard to beleive this is an IGY Marina.

good marina , 2013-09-13
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1007)

The marina is very nice, clean and friendly staff. Loved the shuttle into town. Ate at the Harvest restaurant in town both nights we were there so cannot comment on marina restaurant. The only disappointment was the SPA
What a joke. No locker rooms, showers were ok at best, massage person (not therapist) has no idea what she was doing. Did not feel like I was at a SPA at all, more like a football locker room.
We will definitely go back to the Marina and skip he SPA

Nice facilities & staff., 2013-09-04
Captain: , Perth Amboy, NJ (220)

Stayed here for two days ( and a day on a slip at star island). Staff was fantastic. facilities were nice. Didnt eat here but if the quality matches the ambiance, will be a fine place to eat and drink. There are a couple pools, tennis courts, and a complimentary shuttle into town. Use Star Island marine store for any supplies.

UPDATED: Great Destination - Needs Hospitality Training, 2013-08-19
Captain: , East Coast (184)

From 2012: Spent several days here for the second time this season. It is a great destination for what the resort has to offer. It would truly be fitting of the "world class" description if the young dock staff received some hospitality training. It does not take much to be welcomed in a friendly way when you enter the office to check in or settle up your very large bill. On each occasion I encountered dockhands, save the older more experienced one who brought us in, they couldn't have seem more disinterested in addition to a few other "misses." Our traveling companions experienced the same thing. I will return for the amenities but it would be nice if they addressed this with their staff. They could learn a lot from the Nantucket Boat Basin where everyone you encounter is smiling, friendly and eager to please.

Just returned from our first stay this year and while interaction with the dock staff was minimal, what a difference over my prior experiences. They were responsive and proper on the VHF, the dockhands were friendly and adeptly tied us up and the individual in the dock office was courteous and helpful.

Favorite destination, 2013-08-10
Captain: , new rochelle ny (50)

We have been coming to the MYC for the last 8 years and staying longer each time. The facilities and staff are top notch. 2 pools, barbecues, plenty of clean restrooms, excellent laundry facilities.
Very pet friendly with large areas for dogs or kids to play.Resturants are good with selections in all price ranges. Some of the staff has been here for years which is also a good sign of a well run facility. They have a new shuttle that will run you to town or beach and it runs constantly. This is about as good as it gets if you are a looking for a clean well run place to relax

Very nice amenities, 2013-07-25
Captain: , Bay Shore (44)

With 2 outdoor pools and one indoor pool, health club, tennis court, volleyball, saunas, spa (we have not tried) and a couple of good restaurants, your not slumming it to stay here. Water is good and deep coming in (better than 9 ft coming in on a low tide). Show outdoor movies on the lawn while we were here.

Definately a place I would come back to.

Montauk Y.C., 2013-06-12
Captain: , Oriental, NC (220)

We opted for a mooring ball after a long run up from Cape May, NJ. The club has, maybe, a dozen mooring balls located just off their docks.

The dinghy dock is easily accessed from the mooring field, maybe a few hundred yards. The facility is first rate; the showers were very clean and quite nice; there is even a suana bath to ease old and tired bones. There are several restaurants at the club, pricey but good enough. The only issue is that the club is about three miles from town.

We rode out tropical storm Andrea there in early June, 2013 and weathered it very well, a sufficient endorsement.

Good marina, 2013-03-28
Captain: , Newport RI (83)

well protected, not very deep, strong docks, lots of sport fishers

Great facilities, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Stamford (130)

What a great spot! The facilities are nice, showers clean, 3 pools and a beach with chairs. There were shuttles that ran into town the day we were there, I'm not sure if that is normal. They had a laundry room with several machines.

The dockhands were very friendly greeting us and tying us up. Then they disappeared for the rest of the time. Tipped each deckhand $10, so it wasn't that we didn't take care of them. I guess that is just their way of doing things there. My girlfriend thought it was great that we got privacy and didn't have them around at all. I'm sure we could have gotten one if we needed one, they hang out in the little shack with A/C.

We got our own drinks at the pool, the service was a little slow. I guess the waiter had to do all the pools himself and he routinely dissappeared for 20 min at a time.

Still 5 stars because truthfully, I like the privacy (of no deckhands walking around) and I don't need someone to get my drinks when the bar is 20 feet away. I will return, despite the high nightly rate.

Oh and the French toast there was to die for!!! I'm still dreaming of it....

High end large marina, 2012-08-06
Captain: , north kingstown (341)

Had a great time here 3 pools health club good restaurant band outside and inside posh seating , helpful staff, Site of reality TV show, shuttle to town, free ice... what more could you want for a $75 mooring

Great Stopover, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Island Heights (340)

Stopped for a night from The Vineyard and had been here 3 years ago. Not much has changed with the exception of new heads and showers. Beautiful marina where the big bucks like to hang. Non-floating docks are a drag at these prices, but you do get free ice in the office! :) Great pool and free shuttle to town makes this a great stopover or destination.

rude marina personnel, 2012-07-07
Captain: , New York (160)

We anchored on Lake Montauk not far from the Montauk Yacht Club, took the tender to MYC for dinner and entertainment, returned to our boat for the night, next morning I took the tender with my dog to go for a walk. i was told in a very rude manner that I was not welcomed to land at the MYC. First time that any marina has not allowed me access.

Top Notch Marina, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (274)

This marina is a true resort. If you want to really relax, in a five star facility, this marina provides a first class experience. If you rent a car, the Hanptons have outstanding food and entertainment options. All this service comes with a price tag but we find it worth it when we visit.

High End Resort Marina, 2011-07-13
Captain: , mamaroneck (140)

If you are looking for a top end resort to which you arrive by boat, you have found it. The resort has all the amenities; three swimming panels, bbq facilities, spa services, restaurants, shuttles to town. What it lacked is a mechanic on site. The staff referred us to Star Island Marina across the road. If you are in need of a mechanic, ask for George. He was professional, courteous and I highly recommend him to anyone in need. If you do not wish to avail yourself of the resort facilities, there are less expensive marinas. All in all it was a good experience, but we were not interested in the resort facilities. I think next time we will try another marina.

Upscale Marina, 2011-07-08
Captain: , Bayshore (173)

Great location on East Lake. It is truly a resort marina, and being so it is expensive...most in montauk. On premise pool and grill as well as restaurant. Very helpful and courteous staff. Need transportation into town, but walkable to other side of lake by Gossman's dock.

Upgrades and The Best Location of All, 2011-06-11
Captain: , Kings Point, New York (80)

The Montauk Yacht Club is incomparable. Recent renovations and upgrades have brought the place up to snuff. And nothing can be better than spending time at a true resort marina. There is every conceivable service and a very knowledgable staff. And nothing could be better than the Montauk beaches. The Yacht Club runs a shuttle to town, beaches and the supermarket all day long and into the night. Montauk is the unHamptons but it is now chic, hip and chock full of great restaurants. Don't miss Harvest on Fort Pond.

Bottom line is that this place is great for a night or a month.

Great East End Destination, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Greenport, NY (156)

good for a day trip if within your range or overnighter. Good jump off spot for longer trips, too. Excellent services/amenities. Good food, good service. Not inexpensive. Always busy. Geo Washington commissioned Lighthouse is interesting and worth a couple of hours.Need to take a shuttle if you want to go to Montauk town, which is the most throwback of all 'Hamptons'.

classy all the way, 2010-08-04
Captain: , Bay Shore, NY (550)

A first rate yacht club with an excellent restaurant. If you want luxury, this is the place. Just don't be surprised at the bill!

Very nice resort marina, 2009-08-20
Captain: , Portsmouth, RI (10)

Not quite a 5 star rating but close.
Shuttle to town is great. Service by the pool is awesome. Dock service is excellent. Showers and rest rooms need an upgrade.

Really nice Marina, 2009-07-21
Captain: , Lindenhurst, NY (161)

Little pricey but its a nice marina with all the amenities.
Free shuttle to town and a nice town.

A bit run down, but still very decent, 2008-07-28
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2311)

On first site it appears to be a 5 star marina, but when you start to use the facilities you quickly realize that some upkeep is needed.

For example the showers near the main pool have no hot water (even after complaining), sauna does not work. Markings in swimming pool have faded away, etc.

It is still much much better than most marina's (note hot water is avalable at the other showers), there is lots of service staff, and the slips are well spaced to make every slip a good slip to manuever into.

Great Place, 2008-02-07
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (232)

The location is great. It's more like a resort than a marina. It is expensive but has everything. The pools are great, the heads and showers OK (there are3 locations of them). The staff was very helpful in docking / tieing up the boat.

Great stop-over, 2007-07-24
Captain: , Greenport, NY (427)

This marina has a few more cruisers than the others in the area. Dock service was very good but restrooms/showers need attention. A local information packet would have been a nice addition. Reservations and Docking were easy and efficient.

Wow, 2007-02-02
Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

This is a great marina with wonderful service and something for everyone. We enjoy the pools and the good, but expensive restaurant. This place is the least fishy of all the marinas in Montauk, but with a full service hotel it's a great spot for fisherman who want to leave family ashore for a day or over night.

They provide shuttle service to town during limited hours. We sometimes take a taxi back, but it's not a long walk either.
