Reviews for Mitchell Park Marina
Mitchell Park - great location, value, 2017-08-02
Captain: , Lincroft (184)

Stayed two nights in July, No need to worry about ferry wakes, they are non-existent. Marina is clean, showers clean, well located and a great bargain with floating docks and side t's. Convienent to town, restuarants, large IGA grocery store within 5 minute walk away. Train to Manhattan and Ferry to Shelter Island right next to marina. Town puts on concerts in park right a t marina on Monday nights in the summer.

Must stay when in the north fork, 2017-07-24
Captain: , Mount Sinai, NY (61)

We have stayed her every year now for many years. It is always a favorite of ours. The cement docks are sturdy and in great shape and the dock staff is very attentive and very trustworthy in assisting in tie up and settling in with electric hook up, etc. the restaurants are plentiful and for sure there is one for everyone's pallet. Shops are unique and if you love ice cream...Ralphs is a must! My only 2 negatives have more to do with town bureaucracy and red tape that should really be addressed: 1) about half of the electric pedestals lights did not work leaving the docks rather dark at night. I would imagine this would be a liability for the town and should be a concern of theirs. 2) the pump out boat is in need of a new pump. I have heard that the town does not want to spend the money for this... Bad move... with all of the regulations on direct discharge, towns such as Greenport need to maintain and facilitate an infrastructure to make it feasible for boaters to pump out. It took over 45 minutes to pump out about 50 gallons...unfortunately this type of neglect seems to be in many other towns as well.

GREAT STAY, 2017-07-21
Captain: , staten island (551)

Great floating docks ,clean ,good dock hands , nice friendly natives , and in the town of greenport no long distance walk to resturants or shops
Park grounds surrounding where great for my dog , and had a live show that was very entertaining on monday nights
We will be back

I'll be back.., 2017-06-29
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (110)

Great location in center of Greenport. The dock staff communicated on channel 11 and directed us into our slip / floating dock. Two guys helped in gusty conditions (25kts). They knew their job. The heads are nice and have a combination. The wifi reached our boat. Looking forward to sampling the bakery tomorrow morning. There is also a laundromat a block away from the dock/ park.

Quiet Marina Right in Town, 2017-05-31
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

Stopped here for a few days. Arrived on a windy Sunday and Claudio's was going full tilt! Dockhands were most helpful as we took a slip to drop our dinghy in the water and then moved over a slip to tie up. Grabbed lines and helped us out. The marina was relatively empty with only five or six boats. A few more came in the next day. We opted to stay three nights to get the fourth night free.

Dockmaster's office was helpful with directions and brought a package of mail down to our slip. Greenport is a great little town with a nice IGA grocery store a five minute walk and a laundromat nearby. Good shops and nice people.

We ate at the North Fork Oyster Company. Pricey but tasty.

Great town marina, 2016-09-08
Captain: , Huntington (465)

Dockhands were a plenty to help on our recent visit. Concrete floating docks are in great shape. There is a sporadic modest swell based on boat traffic. The new ferry to Sag Harbor is a great addition and greatly expands the things to do list. We will still stay at Sag Harbor Yacht Club but Mitchell Park is a great deal.

We visit Mitchell Park Marina several times a year due to its ideal location for East LI trips, Greenport activities and other things to do on the North Fork. The marina is relatively new and the staff is great. The facility does not open until April 15th and yet they allowed us to dock in the first week of April this year. You do need to be careful on approach and exit as the Shelter Island Ferry is next door. So pay attention and have a ball in Greenport.

We returned this September and were put on the fixed dock. Two very experienced dock hands took our lines and made sure the lines were set right. First time away from floating docks but it was a nice change since it was a shorter walk to town. It was provided a nice atmosphere with people walking the docks. This remains the best town run marina in my view. Greenport is a great place to visit. 1943 Pizza Bar serves outstanding thin crust pizza and salad and is worth a visit and Triangle Sea Sales is one of my favorite stores.

Went back again in 2014 and marina remains a jewel. There is no ferry service to Sag Harbor.

We stayed two nights this August (one of which was a Monday night when they have live entertainment). This is a great town marina and a great town. The people are friendly and we had a nice time mingling with everyone on Monday night. During the day we took our tender to Crescent Beach on Shelter Island. The people, the seaplanes and the yachts keep you entertained while you read in the shade. Good food at Sunset.

Great spot for a visit to the North Fork, 2016-09-03
Captain: , Portsmouth NH (681)

This is a very pleasant marina pretty much in the center of a fun little coastal town with some very nice restaurants and none of the $$$ madness of the South Fork. The staff are helpful and it is remarkably empty for high season. The only problem we had was it was impossible to get a rental car at short notice so book ahead.
Watch for the ferries when going in. They don't give way to sail.....
That being said, we were not at all bothered by roll from the ferry wake once moored up. The bathrooms are code entry and maybe some locals have the code but they were completely clean and usable when we were there. there are public bathrooms in the park not far from the marina facilities.
The pumpout boat was only $5 and MUCH less hassle than the self service on the dock.

Greenport - great place to stop for a couple of days, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Marthas Vineyard (506)

Here we are again. . . .

Big stable floating docks on a waterfront park, laundry and grocery store an easy walk, wonderful art-deco movie theatre nearby, carousel for the kids --fun shops and galleries, we didn't hit any of the restaurants -- there are constant wakes from the ferries but they were gentle and didn't bother us -- this marina has a discounted rate Mon thru Thu nights and 1 free night after 3 paid nights, check with them for details. Be aware that the nearby disco is pretty loud on weekend nights.

We stop here every few years and it never seems to change, which is good. Don't miss the movie theatre or the haphazard book store, they are unlike any others.

The only thing I wish would change is the internet -- like many marinas they advertise "free internet" but its not very good.

Its nice to stay at a transient marina when you're a transient.

The megayachts seem to be moving in.

2013 -- we're back for our 3rd visit in 7 years, we stay 4 nights, and things are great, as before, I think you can rely on a good accommodation here

Self served pump out available, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Montreal (717)

Beside the pump out boat, there is a self served pump out station available on the south break water, inside the Marina. There is no bumpers, so get fenders ready, since the ferry's wake is not far away.

Been here several times, 2016-07-07
Captain: , montauk ny (150)

We like coming to this place as it is right in town, they have cable, wifi, restaurant and shops are easy walking distance. They have music on the green in the summer and the docks are well kept. Facilities are functional but we tend to use our own. Good for biking. Some rocking from the ferry but not enough to keep us away and it stops at 11-12.

Close to town -- and the Ferry!, 2016-07-05
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (1089)

If you want good quality floating docks, very close to town (with some great shops and restaurants) Mitchell Park Marina is a good choice. HOWEVER, you are right next to a very active ferry terminal and even though there is a breakwater, you still get a fair amount of roll inside the basin. Bath facilities are pretty basic and evidently open to the public (or at least they have the code) so not my kind of place. If you want something a little more "upscale" suggest you consider one of the Brewer marina's in Sterling Harbor.

Does Not Issue Credit If You Plans Change, 2016-06-03
Captain: , Deep River, CT (251)

This town owned marina is only a few years old is in great shape. The floating cement docks are very nice. The heads and showers (about 100 yards from dock ramp) are clean and modern.

What we enjoy most is being right in the middle of all the town's activities. Greenport is jumping most of the time with Claudio's Deck offering live music most weekends. There are several restaurants within easy walking distance. The mix of people visiting Greenport range from motorcyclists boaters, and automobiles. It is an interesting mixture. The local IGA grocery store is about 3-4 minutes away.

Be sure to get reservations, particularly on weekends.

The is a little roll due to ferry traffic and the music sometimes can be heard form the dock, but we really enjoy the atmosphere.

Update May 29, 2016: We planned on spending Memorial Day Weekend at Mitchell's. Upon arrival on Friday May 27, when we checked in we paid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, before 11:00 am, we notified the marina office that we could not stay Sunday night. The office informed me that they could not offer any type of credit and I should call the marina manager (Donna) during the week. I called Donna the following week and she informed me that she is not allowed to give any type of credit, but I could send a letter to the Mayor of Greenport (Mitchell Park Marina is owned and operated by the town) who would present my request to the Board of Selectmen, who might possibly give me some type of credit. If I ever stay there again, I will pay one day at a time.

Transients Only - Great Marina, 2015-09-01
Captain: , Hull, MA (720)

Mitchell Park Marina is own and operated by the town of Greenport. There are no seasonal customers-all docks are for transient use only.Marina is great, floating concrete docks in excellent condition and claean restroon and shower facility. Marina located right in the center of town for easy access to shops, restaurants, IGA Supermarket, etc. There a well maintained park at the marina with a carousel for the kids. Dock rates mon thru thurs $2.50/ft and $3.50/ft Fri thru Sun plus $20/day for electric.
Make a reservation if you want a slip fri thru sun.
Grat Marina , well protected with a helpful staff.

Active town, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Cape Cod, MA (203)

High quality docks. Lots of restaurants. Park is pretty and well kept. Showers ok. If you have a chance tour the fireboat "Firefighter" next to the marina. Largest fireboat in the US. Being restored by volunteers.

clean and easy access, 2015-07-07
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Very clean and well kept, floating docks, all in a park setting. Easy walk to anything you need. We wanted to stay through the 4th for tall ships visit but they were sold out. Call early for busy weekends.

Nice Day Trip, 2015-01-12
Captain: , Newport, RI (360)

Ive been here a couple of times for the day.....they side tie you against the bulkhead in the "well" - the dockhands are helpfull and there are fixed ladders for when the tide is low. This marina is right in the heart of greenport, no taxi ride or long hike needed.

Nice Public Dock, 2014-07-17
Captain: , Hampton Bays, NY (51)

Nicely maintained with pleasant dock staff. Bathrooms could be better.

The Heart of Greenport's Tourism, 2014-02-28
Captain: , Coecles Harbor (301)

The Michell Park Marina was an awesome addition for Greenport. In previous years, Greenport was not nearly as groomed as it is now, the addition of new businesses really helped (in my opinion). At times, Greenport can be pretty loud. With Claudios just around the corner and the nightlife in Greenport, it%u2019s not necessarily the location for the boater that likes peace and quiet. Greenport has a lot to offer now, a variety of up and coming eateries and plenty of things to do for the kids (carrousel, museums, shops, ice cream etc.). Greenport is worth visiting and Mitchell Park is a way to do that.

Great stop, 2013-12-15
Captain: , Washington DC (150)

we had been on a mooring or anchor for a while and decided to splurge and we were glad we did. Walking to everything, great little bars, a brewery, little shops, grocery store, fun place, really friendly marina, great stop.

Greenport LI NY, 2013-09-17
Captain: , Sandwich (722)

As an intown marina adjacent to an outdoor amphitheater it can get noisy. The park is kept clean as is the marina. The restrooms could be a bit cleaner and although there is a women's pass code for showers there are no locks on the individual shower stalls. Just a curtain. Greenport is great for shopping and fresh seafood restaurants. Had a pleasant overnight but just a bit too noisy for our liking.

Great to be in the thick of it, 2013-09-01
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

Stayed here for a Ranger Tug Rendezvous. The Dock Master Jeff was great with handling a large group of 12 boats. Dock staff was very attentive bringing us all in. Convienient to town, just walk up the ramp and you are in town. Restrooms and showers are a bit of a walk, but we can use the exersise! It can get a little rolling at times because of the ferry nearby, but not very often and I believe the ferry stops arond midnight. Plenty of resturants. Grocery (IGA) store is nearby. A great stop or a long visit if you want to go to wineries etc. It is a short hop to Shelter Island either by ferry or on your own boat. A must visit desination in my book.

Well run operation, great town, 2013-08-23
Captain: , Red Brook Harbor, Ma. (216)

Mitchell Park has a well run clean operation with good docks and facitilties. Greenport is fun, lots if restaurants and shops. Front street is the main drag at your doorstep but don't overlook Main St.
Speaking of which "Main" is a great! place to eat. Check out the bar at Claudio's. Was brought to this family restaurant in 1885 on a barge from Brooklyn. Its a work of art.
Only negative was the train depot nearby where the train starts tootin at 5 am.

Location Location Location !, 2013-08-14
Captain: , St Augustine, Fl (480)

enough said, walking distance to everything, we sat on our boat and watched a free concert in mitchell park. No problem with security like the other post. Well worth the stop.

Great Location, 2013-08-14
Captain: , Amityville, NY (292)

Modern marina with efficient and experienced dock hands located in the heart of Greenport. Accept MarinaLife discounts. Wind was blowing out of the south at over 20 kts during our stay on A dock (closest to the entrance and the Ferry Dock)--did not experience much roll from either wind or ferry.

Had a great dinner at Claudio's Restaurant. Have always loved their Bar and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food & service. New Chef or Manager??

my wife loves it, 2013-07-31
Captain: , Milford (530)

Newer facility, very nice docks and excellent shower bathrooms. You can walk everywhere in the little town with lots of shops, as well as a ton of restaurants. we found a great deal on lobster dinner, and other deals by looking around. IGA store was very nice and we loaded up before leaving. The ferry is noisy but eventually they stop. Since my wife loves it here we go... it's the bait for a trip sometimes. -- as on July 2013 the heads and showers were pretty shopworn although clean.

One of the best stops on the East end of Long Island, 2013-07-24
Captain: , Mashpee, MA (541)

Returned July 2013 - still one of the best marinas around. Claudios on the wharf has very food seafood and selection. Prestons on the Wharf has ggod marine suplies. IGA market just a couple of blocks away. Entertainment at the carousel.

Returned in 7/16/2012 and is still one of the best places on the north fork. New place right in fronto of the marina called "The Greenport Eatery" just opened in July and they have great prices, large assortment of bagles, and make excellent egg and bacon with cheese on a bagle, and they were open at 6am! New owner Michael is young guy, very friendly, help him make it!

Great location, right in Greenport off the main drag. Park at the marina had live entertainment planned most nights of the summer. We were there on a windy Sunday with lots of boats moving in and out. Sitting on the boat watching "Bumpy" (senior dock hand) in action was worth the price of admission - guy is incredible how he gets around and manages the crew. Best showers of the year, perhaps any year, except perhaps Charleson in the Carolinas. Restaurants nearby, staff were very helpful, great stay.

Disconcerting Stay, 2013-07-16
Captain: , Essex (50)

Stayed overnight on a recent Sunday and the following morning had a dock neighbor tell us that they confronted a couple people on thier boat in the middle of the night and asked us if any problem...while we did not get awakened, I went back and checked my boat and actually found sneaker prints on my aft sunpad both coming and going and the cockpit refriderator open with some beverages and snacks missing. We informed the marina and they promised to look into it, and did get a follow up call that they did notify the local authorities. It is a nice facility, very convenient to town, but won't stay there again without some assurance of increased security.

Great Muni, 2013-07-08
Captain: , Island Heights (340)

Haven't been here for a couple of years, but glad we came back. The town gets better and better with things to do. Marina is still in great shape with some of the best floating docks you will find anywhere. Was there over 4th of July and the place was packed. This makes it difficult to get access to the limited heads/showers. Other times should be fine. The Admiral would feel more comfortable if there was a gate to get into the marina with an access code. Numerous shady characters seem to gather in the park at night.

Great Marina!, 2013-01-28
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

We love this marina! The docks are great, the staff can not do enough for you! Greenport is a real boating town with a lot to see, and great restuarants within walking distance of the dock. There are plenty of boating supply stores around. Just make sure they know the size of your boat when you are coming in. They tried to put us in a slip that was too small for our boat, it was change of shift and the beam of our boat was to big for the slip they wanted us in. We mean t to be there for one night and ended up staying 3 nights because we liked it so much. Also very dog friendly with the surrounding parks.

new kid in town, 2012-09-19
Captain: , Bay Shore, NY (550)

Nice clean marina right downtown. A little pricey @3.50/foot after labor Day (although it was a Friday night). Great floating docks, clean restrooms, and all of Greenport at your beck and call. Blue Canoe Restaurant right next door by the ferry; used to be the Chowder bar? is excellent. Best onion rings in town. Reservations recommended because of the location. CRight next door to Shelter Island Ferry; and LIRR. station.

Perfect Place To Re-Provision, 2012-09-14
Captain: , Bridgeport, CT (559)

The concrete docks are in great shape; the staff superb in docking assistance; the showers and toilets very clean. The rates per foot are competitive and they have a day rate if you just need to come in and so some serious re-provisioning. Only downside - you will roll a bit when the ferry comes in next to the marina.

Enjoyed ou stay, 2012-08-06
Captain: , north kingstown (341)

We usually never come in when on vacation... thought a recharge would be good $2.50 a foot is just 50 cents more than amooring at Sag Harbor and you get great staff and a nice town to visit... Jeff was helpful in trying to get help for our electronics ... eventually resorterd to just looking which was fine for exiting the area which is very well marked.
Would definitely stay here on next trip

Lots of help coming in, 2012-08-05
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7375)

Lots of help from marina staff as you come in. That was good as the fairways were very narrow and several boats were too large for the slips they were in, bow pulpits sticking way out into fairway. Help is not there if you leave early in the morning. Floating docks in very good conditon, solid cleats. Marina is close to town, grocery, post office, shopping, restaurants. Nice walkding area for dogs. Free concerts in the park on some nights.

Great place for a day stop, 2012-05-29
Captain: , Niantic, CT (337)

Just a week ago, I came by with my 19' sailboat, hailed them on VHF 11, and they directed me to a floating dock where two dockhands were waiting. They helped tie up, were very friendly, and pointed out the Marina Office as well as nearby attractions. For only $1 a foot, I was able to stay from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm. So, I went to the Office, handed them a $20, and I had full use of their heads and showers, both of which were kept very, very clean. I then went on my way in the late afternoon.

Diminished wakes from the nearby ferries kept things rocking a little bit, but I most certainly plan to go here again.

New, clean and downtown, 2012-03-29
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (92)

Probably the best place for transients in the Greenport, Sag Harbor, Shelter Island area. Brewers is nice as well, but it is in a windless hurricane hole (good in a hurricane) and a good hike to downtown. Sag Harbor prices are ridiculous ($6/foot) for a dock and Shelter Island is limited to moorings & not much by way of shopping. The Mitchell Park Marina is new, has nice clean facilities and sufficient security (necessary, given the overall makeup of the town) while being in the middle of town.

Great Marina, 2011-09-07
Captain: , Greenport, NY (17)

Stopped by Mitchell Park Marina in Greenport, New York and experienced a wonderful time. The marina is situated in the middle of the village, just a few minutes walk from all of the restaurants, shops, IGA and other stores. The 100 year old carousel at the marina is great entertainment for the kids and the movie house is just two doors down. The staff is great and was very eager to make our stay a memorable one.

Best Town Dock, 2011-07-11
Captain: , mamaroneck (140)

This newly renovated town dock boasts wide floating docks, ample power and ease of access. Located next to Claudio's, it can be rather noisy. Easy walk to town. Plenty of ice cream shops and the usual knick knack stores. Good boating store as well. Certainly could use this as your base to tour the north shore. If you don't want to be part of the "scene", eat at Portabellos, a short cab ride out of town. Well worth the trip. Overall a most pleasant experience. The one caveat, we asked to check out later, recognizing that the marina had many open slips, and the staff was less than enthusiastic about honoring the request, although they finally did. We plan to return.

Clean, safe, comfortable, reasonably priced marina, great little town, 2011-01-29
Captain: , Stratford, CT (250)

This municipal marina, newly built inside a pleasant little park, is a real gem. The docks are stable, sturdy floating concrete pontoons. There is very little wash from the Shelter Island ferry nearby thanks to a wave barrier. The marina staff is helpful and friendly, alsways ready to lend a hand. The heads are spotless and secured by a passcode, so only marina tenants can use it. There is a vintage carousel right in the marina and a "camera obscura" which the kids will love. The rates are very reasonable, especially when compared with the piratical rates charged by nearby Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. The town of Greenport is very cool and loads of fun with lots to do for families with kids. Still a somewhat salty town, it has dozens and dozens of interesting shops: antique shops, consignment shops, souvenir stands, chandleries (Preston's!), art galleries, ice cream parlors, and coffeee shops. In the evenings, you might encounter a free outdoor concert, a vintage car show with doo-wop singers, or street musicians. The "noise from the disco" is far off and not at all distracting. A family or couple can easily spend 3 or 4 pleasant days here. Be warned however that there is no longer any fuel available in the harbor, although you can refuel a few miles to the east at Brewer's, or across the Sound at Dering Harbor on Shelter Island. This is a highly recommended destination!

Great marina. Close to all. No pool.. Bathrooms and shower are to far from dock. Floating docks and utilities are the best. All new. If you have kids stay at Townsend with the pool.

Town is a rip off, marina is OK, 2009-07-14
Captain: , Stuart, FL (426)

The marina is just OK. Kind of expensive. Some of the people that work there are nice, one lady in particular is not very nice. The town is a total rip off. $20 bucks minimum for lunch anywhere you go, and most of the food is mediocre. IGA grocery store nearby and a decent but expensive marine supply also close. I won't be coming back. There are much better choices nearby.

Great facility in the heart of town, walk to everything. The staff is very helpful and friendly. All new concrete floating docks and bathroom facilities. Steps to the carousel for the kids. Be prepared for some noise since the docks are surrounded by bars with live entertainment. There are some strong currents so docking can interesting at times and the constant ferry traffic makes for some waves.
