Reviews for Midway Marina
Nice place to dock for the night, 2016-10-18
Captain: , Baltimore (389)

Some of the rating is because - there are not alot of options. Fuel dock, courtesy car (Walmart, Grocery, etc) within 5 miles. Docks are fixed but the water level does not change with tides, etc. The dockmaster George was helpful getting us in to a facedock.

The laundry in the boaters lounge looked like new machines.

The wifi needs some attention but the local teleco seems to be the blame.

If you want to go to the James Whitten Tenn-Tombigbee Museum, call and verify they are open. The marina's directions to get their are a tad brief and apparently the Museum closes when things are slow.

The marina's resturant burned down and they talk like it will not be rebuilt.

Great Marrina, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Slidell LA (42)

We stayed here twice and were very happy with the service provided by Shane and marina residents. It is unfortunate that the restaurant burned and is closed, but there is a courtesy car available. Pizza delivery to the dock was excellent and prompt. The entrance channel is well marked and Shane provided a watchful eye as we entered.

Definitely Not a "1st Choice" In Our Book, 2016-08-23
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (496)

We are not aware of the criteria for selection as a 1st Choice marina but in our opinion this is not one of them.

You are instructed to contact "the attendant" for docking instructions. The attendent is just a guy who lives on a houseboat in the marina. Not sure whether he is an employee or does it as a quid pro quo for dockage. Never saw an "official" employee.

This is a most friendly place. We were helped onto the dock by "the attendant" and a couple of other boaters and got us tied up and connected to power without delay or too much effort.

The ship store is only open when the "the attendant" opens it. It seemed well stocked but wasn't really "open" regular hours like most marina stores are.

There was no cable TV at the pedestal and we had to run our cable across the dock to the private splitter of "the attendant" in order to get connected.

The WiFi signal was so weak as to be unusable at the transient dock. There was a "hot spot" in the lounge which could be used if you wanted to drag you computer up there.

There was only one mens/womans bathroom/shower available.

The restaurant . . . burned down some time ago.

It was nice to have a courtesy car and we did use it to go into town for lunch and shopping.

Stopped, had no choice, 2016-08-09
Captain: , New Port Richey (310)

Ok no other options if have to.

Wonderful layover, 2016-06-22
Captain: , Warsaw KY (30)

We came in at 10:30 pm on May 16 and had radio contact with one of the dockmasters George. He was a great help and had us secure in no time. George also helped arrange a ride into Tupelo to return rental car the next day. We will surely stop in again, and pass on great reviews about this marina jewel.

Definately Worth a Stop, 2016-05-24
Captain: , Oshkosh, WI (212)

Afficient, friendly staff (George), available 24/7, go above and beyond to assist. Courtesy car and map with nearby locations including WalMart, Grocery stores, restaurants and even a vetrinarian. Free Wi-Fi and cable. Boaters' lounge is one of the best one's I've seen with books/games/puzzles; tv, coffee maker, microwave; laundry and showers. Easy in/out to fuel and transient docks. Reasonable prices! Definately worth an extra stop.

Great Stop, 2016-04-27
Captain: , League City, Texas (252)

The Marina staff is very friendly. Great help with the lines and very accommodating with an after hours arrival.

A must stop marina., 2016-04-17
Captain: , Tellico Harbor, TN (49)

This is a great marina, and the staff are outstanding in terms of friendliness and help. The on site restaurant is very good as well with very reasonable prices. Fuel dock easy to access and lots of easy layalong dock to tie to.

Great place to stay!, 2016-04-11
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (20)

Well marked channel entering marina. Great staff actually came out in the pouring rain to assist. Courtesy car to provision at nearby stores. Been here many times and it is always a pleasurable experience. Never disappointed!

A Great winter stop!, 2016-04-06
Captain: , Superior, WI (10)

I stoped here foir fuel back in early December, and folks here are asum. ending up here all winter and great prices on slips. There's good dock water and power to 50 amps., and a few cable channels. they have a new ship's store that just opened since i have been here and lot of choice beverages. nice showers (2) and laundry. i haven't been to the Restaurant , but I hear the grub is great. there's also van for use to get supply's, just put a couple a bucks in the tank. Everybody has been really nice here and i will come back again.

Good stop over on this stretch of Tenn Tom, 2016-01-23
Captain: , Blue Springs Marina (79)

Good service. All new ship store with walk in cooler. Staff very accomadation. Courtesy car available. Everything we need even in January and 20+ degrees. It will be our stop when passing through.

Great marina!, 2015-11-07
Captain: , Jonesville, VA (80)

We stopped here because of a transmission problem. The harbormaster guided us to our slip. He recommended a local marine repair shop who came to us right away. Problem diagnosed and repaired in short order. We lengthen our stay and rented a car in Tupelo for return trip home. Our boat was safe and secure at this facility. Almost felt like home!

Great folks and a welcome stop, 2015-11-07
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

One of the few decent marinas on the tenn-tom. Expert, friendly staff, courtesy car to reprovision or for dinner, good power and water. Docks are in OK shape but not great. Some long term boats don't look so good, but don't let that take anything away from the people and the place. As another poster said, those boats are someone else's dream. Would definitely return.

Nice friendly stop, 2015-11-02
Captain: , Portland,Oregon (270)

This is a great marina. The channel is well marked and we were talked in and our lines were caught upon arrival. We were only going to stay one night but ended up staying two as we were invited to attend their Halloween Party. Courtesy van, restaurant open on the weekend, friendly people all around.

Good marina for transients and live-aboards , 2015-11-01

This is a great Marina is a great place to stop. Plenty of room for six or more larger boats. Marina staff were excellent at guiding us to our slip and handling lines. We didn't buy fuel, but they had diesel for $2.59. The restaurant on site has great catfish and hush puppies.

Good Stop And Pleasant, 2015-10-14
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

Easy to find. Dock Master talked us in as one Red Marker was off station. Many amenities. Town was great Big Walmart and NAPA also super Mexican Restaruant. Spent 2 nights Waited out super FOG conditions before departure on 10-11-15. Enjoyed front porch rocking chair conversations with locals. Very friend people.
Local MTOA member Charlie McVey was a gracious host.

We Will Be Back, 2015-10-08
Captain: , Mobile, AL (30)

Stopped at Midway Marina on our way from Decatur to Mobile. The owner was EXTREMELY helpful in finding some parts I needed to repair an overflowing commode onboard my vessel. There was an eclispe that night and he came by several times to check on us and remind us to come out and enjoy the show. We were greatly impressed at the friendliness and helpfulness shown to us. We will recommend to others, and we will be back on our next trip.

Great Stop - Super Friendly and Helpful, 2015-10-07
Captain: , Prattville, AL (280)

Great place for a brief, one or two night stop.

Whether you're heading north or south, the approach is clearly marked and easily accessible. The easy in and easy out transient dock is a just a straight shot in.

There's nothing fancy about Midway Marina, but Pat the Dock Guru is as helpful and friendly as anybody we've ever met. He is a genuinely nice guy, he has a great sense of humor, and he alone is worth the price of admission.

Nice community and friendly owners & liveaboards, 2015-07-12
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (301)

We took a covered slip for a week at $5.50/foot including water, electric and wi-fi. They also have a courtesy car for use and a nice captains lounge with washer/dryers @ $1.00 each and a hot-tub. Superwalmart close by and a great place to stop if you have doggies too!

Call on the radio and they will direct you in off the main channel; it is a little tricky the first time.

Respite from brutal heat of summer, 2015-06-27
Captain: , charleston (761)

Pat, the dockmaster, was wonderful to accomodate our request for a covered slip to escape the brutal heat of June. Made all the difference in the world to be out of the sun. Courtesy car available, small pool/spa to cool off in, nice lounge with tv, clean bathrooms. Great stop.

Customer service to the max, 2014-11-08
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (600)

Follow the dockmaster directions as you enter. Stay inside the well marked channel. I draw 4 1/2 ft and had no problem. Staff was waiting on the dock to take our lines, plug in electric and tv. This is how every marina should welcome transients. Pat, dockmaster and his two assistants Josh and Shane were great. Nice, clean facilities. Dont be put off by some of the boats close to where you dock. They are someone's dream also. Great time. Wish we could have stayed longer.

wonderful stay It Takes Two, 2014-10-23
Captain: , Moses Lake , Wa (50)

Great place to stop, 2014-10-17
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (100)

Wonderful place to stop. Courtesy car with access to super wal-mart. Great laundry facilities, two showers and tv room. Ice is available at,2 dollars a bag. Has diesel, and gas. If you draft more than 6 feet pay very close attention to the harbor master as he guides you in or you will run aground. The people there are wonderful, especially George.

Excellent Marina, 2014-10-16
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (983)

A quick response on the radio, help with the lines, and a secure spot to wait out a front. Very friendly. The manager was very helpful. Recommended. Creekside Vet in town was great when our dog became ill.

Nice friendly marina, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

Arrived early on 10-7 and was met by Pat the manager. After helping us tie up he briefed us on the area and ammenities then insisted we take the courtesy car into Fulton for lunch. They are several restaurants, a grocery store and WalMart. The marina has a nice boaters lounge with laundry and 2 seperate bathrooms and showers.

All the Basics, 2014-10-02
Captain: , Wickford, RI (550)

Friendly, helpful staff; nice rec. room with TV, books, washers... We had 12' all the way to the transient dock. WiFi worked on the boat. Courtesy car only allowed into Fulton - can get groceries, hardware, fast food - can not be taken into Tupelo or anywhere else out of Fulton. No way to get to Tupelo from here. On-site restaurant only open Th - Sun so we can't speak for that.

Always been a good stop., 2014-02-18
Captain: , Cuba Landing Marina, Waverly, TN, Nashville, TN (184)

I had dinner at the restaurant just a short walk from the docks and was pleasantly suprised.

Wonderful folks!, 2013-12-05
Captain: , Satellite Beach, Fl. (125)

Real southern hospitality here. Everyone is very helpful and friendly-both the staff and the liveaboards. Weather kept us here longer than anticipated and Pat the dockmaster could not have been more accommodating. We were invited to Thanksgiving dinner put on by the owners and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the weather (18 degree days). Highly recommend stopping here on the way up or down the Tenn-Tom.

Southern Hospitality at it's best!, 2013-11-03
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

Owners Ginger and Gerald, manager Pat, and everyone who works there is friendly and helpful, making you feel more than welcome. But what makes this place really special is what happens when you walk down the dock. Midway has a large liveaboard population and any transient who walks down the dock will be greeted. And not just a simple hello. They'll engage you, ask where you're from, and offer any help you might need. We were there just after Halloween with the boats still decorated adding to the strong sense of community. I can only imagine what it's like at Christmas!

Everything is clean and well maintained. There's a comfy boater's lounge with a large deck where boaters gather throughout the day. A courtesy car takes you to groceries or dinner out. Do not miss the Mexican restaurant - we had a great meal. We found a large field were our canine crew could have an off leash romp. The whole crew enjoyed our visit so much that our planned 2 day stay turned into 4. Do not miss this stop!

Midway Marina, 2013-10-28
Captain: , Chicago, IL (958)

George was waiting for us at the dock as we approached, caught our lines and helped us tie up. Boaters lounge/laundry area is clean & maintained; courtesy van available, grocery stores & restuarants 5 miles away in Fulton. Marina restaurant was closed when we were there.

Nice stop well worth the visit, 2013-10-27
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

Spent last night there. Plenty of depth coming in (our draft 5'6") and we were able to turn around at the fuel dock to leave no problem.
Boaters lounge was very nice, on site restaurant had some good food but be careful ordering prime rib from a fish restaurant !!

very friendly, 2013-10-24
Captain: , Chattanooga tn (281)

Rustic Overnight Stop, 2013-10-23

Pat met us at the dock, accomodated our need for his lift for an oil change to our outboard, loaned us a van ... a top notch experience.

Would like to have stayed longer. 7-14-2013, 2013-07-15

Really nice place. Vegatation in water pretty thick. Great boaters lounge and shower rooms. Great assistance at fuel dock. Price not bad either. Lots of interesting boats at marina. Hot tub outside boaters lounge. Good laundry facility. Will stay here again on next trip. Restaurant on site closed down.

Good facility, easy in & out, good dock, good power. Loaner vehicle available looked pretty nice. $1.00 per foot plus tax. Good water on approach and at dock. Pat met us after hours and assisted on doccking. He was very cordial. Absolutey no wake problem through the night.

Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Lots of help guiding us in after sunset, plenty of help on the dock to help with the lines. Very nice boater's lounge, clean showers. Passed on the offer for the courtesy van. Lots of grass to let the dog get some exercise.

Midway Marina, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Mystic, CT (382)

Extremely helpful dockmaster. Meets & greets you on the dock to assist w/lines and electric hookup. Has cable tv and free internet. Courtesy car available for local restaurants and shopping but not for travel to Tupelo. This was disappointing as we had hoped to go to Elvis Presley's birthplace. Restrooms clean and boater's lounge very comfortable.

Good ole Midway, 2011-11-04
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

Great dockmaster; good facilities. Good amenities on site. Best laundry on the Tenn-Tom. Stayed there in 2010 and 2011.

They work hard to help you, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

We stopped here on our way south, along with 7 other boats. The owner met us all at the docks and helped with everyone getting into their slip. Although the marina is not new, they have worked hard to make it a nice stop. We had plenty of water at the transient dock, and the shoreside facilities were very clean and nice. I would not hesitate to stop here if you are moving up or down the Tenn-Tom.

Midway Marina, 2011-11-02
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Stopped here for the night. The dockmaster, Pat, was nice and helpful in getting us to our assigned place. Nice clean lounge and restrooms.
Can walk at the adjacent Corps of Enginners campground just south of the marina. Pat will tell you how to easily get there. Nice walk by the water, a three person swing overlooking the water and a fishing dock to get a look at shallow water.

Midway Marina, 2011-10-29
Captain: , Plattsmouth, Nebraska (130)

Just add to Capt. Fisk's comment the nice lounge and laundry facility. Hot tub on the deck, but a bit windy and cool to try this time of year. Local live aboards warn that drinking the water may make you want to stay.

A Nice Place in the Middle of the Locks, 2011-10-27
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2153)

We stopped at Midway in June and then again on the way south in October...both times it was a pleasant experience, but nothing fancy. The dockmaster, Pat, was exceptional - great info on local stuff - the courtesy car is a bit rough, but it gets you around. The biggest drawback is the wakes that come across the lake almost constantly...either from the local boats, the barge traffic or the cruisers...and the waves caused by the wind. It is a nice place, other than the wind/waves, to stop in between all of the locks.

Ditto NativeTX - again, 2011-07-25
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (235)

We stopped overnight on 7/23/11 and arrived a little later than we had planned due to some mechanical issues on the boat.

We called them on the cell (not a lot of strong cell signals in this part of Mississippi) saying we'd be a little layter than the 5:00PM original ETA.

"Not a problem, we'll wait for you" was the answer. It began getting late, we called them on the radio after clearing the lock (about 3 miles from them) and they sent a boat out to meet us and lead us in.

Even though we had a great experrience with them in early June (prior entry), I want to assure any readers this is their custom, not just a lucky night for us.

Well worth a visit on the way north or south!

Nothing fancy, but clean and friendly, 2011-05-17
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (362)

Dockmaster was helpful and friendly; boaters lounge and laundry looked clean and cozy; easy walk up grassy slope to restaurant (average food); new covered slips up to 80' just opened; approach to transient (fuel) dock was shallow (6' in spots); dog friendly (watch where you step in grassy areas); lots of room for dog to run.

Midway marina from the Griffin, 2011-05-15
Captain: , kentucky lake (10)

We feel Midway marina is one of the Best. Ivan had lost his credit card at walmart parking lot. By the time we were back to the Marina a Contractor from 20 miles away found it with the dock slip wraped around card. He called Marina spoke to the owners Gerald & Ginger, they made arrangements to meet him and then contacted us to let us know about the card. Gerald and Ginger drove Ivan to get the card late that night. That is way above normal service.

Midway Marina, 2009-12-09
Captain: , Perdido Key Florida (460)

Very nice and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Easy to get in off of the main channel.

Midway Marina, 2009-10-13
Captain: , Grand Haven, Mi (2283)

We have been here several times and it is still a very friendly and helpful marina. A courtesy van is available to go to Fulton and Super Wal-Mart. The facilities are clean and my wife says the laundry is clean and VERY NICE. $1.00 a load. When we called for reservations they told us they would “get us in” no matter what. This is one of those places where boaters stop for a night and never leave. However, it is waaaay to far north for us.

Midway Marina, 2009-06-12
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (452)

Friendly people and a Walmart near by with the use of a courtesy car. The approach is shallow with only 7 feet and there are a lot of weeds which fouled our props.

Midway Marina, 2009-02-19
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

A little scruffy, but otherwise helpful and friendly. They have a courtesy car (limited to Fulton). Plenty of liveaborads. Good place to leave the boat if you must travel home.
