Reviews for Midland Harbour
Nice location, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

We enjoyed this stop, location is great, walking distance to beautiful murals along downtown, plenty of pet green space. Electric and water worked great. It was a bit rolly but that rocked us to sleep.

"Off" Weekend, 2015-07-26
Captain: , Honey Harbour, Ontario (170)

Called ahead. Disinterested yoot provided slip assignment. Parked. Found it windy so walked to office (no one meets you at dock).

One of 3 employees had head in table sleeping (almost closing time in her defence).

Location itself is unbeatable.

Great for shopping-free dockage, 2014-07-12
Captain: , Hertford, NC (61)

We were on our way in to Wye Heritage Marina and knew that it was not close to the Midland downtown shopping. We called Midland Harbour Marina and asked to stop at their FREE shoppers dock for a few hours to reprovision. The dockmaster said sure and told us where to tie up. He and his assistant were there to help us tie up and gave us some tips on where to go. Very friendly and helpful.

Not at all busy on this Wednesday night. A very short walk to town for groceries and a walk-in haircut. There is a bike trail along the coast - a very casual half hour gets you to the "Saint-Marie among the Hurons" historical site. It is a delightful ride and the museum and restored village are worth the trip. The north wall, where we are tied up, is a bit rolly as others have mentioned, but it is convenient and not bothersome.

Midland Town Dock, 2013-07-19
Captain: , Traverse City Michigan (174)

OK, this is a pretty good place to stop because of the closeness of resturants and shopping. Docks are OK but nothoing top brag abouit. The staff is a little casual about customer service; the focus is on the tourists that take the cruise boat and walk the docks. No daily weather report (you are on your own there). Great laundry, but the folding table was piled with marketing materials (until we complained about that). Bath and showers OK but I've seen much better. I don't think they get many cruisers so that's not the harbormaster 's focus. "If you need help we'll do what we can, but we're not going to try to anticipate your requirements".

good provisioning, 2013-07-06
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

We enjoyed our stop at Midlland. Good laundry and if you stay 2 nights the third is free. Grocery, hardware and good restaurants an easy walk. If your boat excedds about 35 feet you will be placed aliong the north walll. Un protected from the bay so a bit rolly on a weekend. Very high dockage about 6 feet above the water to the pier. We found two good restaurants Explorers Cafe and The Library both short walks up King Street. Very reasonable and very good food. 30 amp service and water at the pier. Clean showers and rest rooms.

Enjoying the Stay, 2013-06-30

Update 6/13: Still a great place to stay. Still quite rocky :-)

Review from 8/12: This is now our second night here in Midland - it's a very enjyable place to be. Many shops and restaurants line the main street, public library nearby, wifi here at the marina is very good. Box stores are a bit out of town (not walkable but bikable) - or taxi or public transit. Just about any kind of store you need including Home Depot and Walmart.

Deck hands are pretty good although some seem inexperienced so be explicit in your instructions to them as you come into the dock.

Rocking? YES - almost all of the time during the day. Not annoying wake rocking but gentle waves are always coming in. We don't jerk against the ropes or anything but rather a gentle rocking motion all of the time. We'll be back!

Great Stop for Shopping, 2013-03-04
Captain: , Charlevoix, MI (201)

We tried up here for an afternoon to resupply. The harbor master couldn't have been nicer. He allowed us to stay for free while shopping, gave us a map, directions and arranged to have our mast stepped at Wye Heratige Marinea. This guy should train all the harbor masters in Canada. What an asset to the town. Great town to resupply in.

Above and Beyond, 2012-09-13
Captain: , Killarney (174)

Docks are in good condition and you are very close to grocery store, restaurants and marine supply store. Harbourmaster Rick and assistant Brian go above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of.

Works for us, 2012-07-25
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

Good staff on hand. Very big walls to tie up to. Susceptable to wakes from the bay. As noted in previous reviews the wharf is a favorite of the locals. Wasn't noisy. 30 amp power only. All shoreside amenities are good: grocery 2 blocks, banks, restaurants, West Marine, Walmart, Canadian Tire (a personal favorite). Town has a good transit system, and more taxi companies per capita than anyplace on Earth. Marine store and service next door. Good wifi.

Bare necessities, 2011-07-28
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

Did not like this marina. It is convienent to re-provisioning in Midland, but that is it. Washrooms are not clean, and it is not a secure marina, with the whole town seemingly down at the docks. Noisy at night. The only saving grace was a fantastic restaurant in Midland called The Explorer Cafe. It is a short walk up King Street and worth every step.

Very Civilized, 2011-01-24
Captain: , Midland, Ontario (475)

Good staff at the docks, which are in the town of Midland, which is the largest town on Georgian Bay. Walking distance to grocery stores, hardware stores, movie theater, restaurants, etc.

Great spot to change crews; lots of parking.

Right downtown, 2010-08-21
Captain: , Elizabeth City, NC (241)

Eat out at Lilly's. 4 star meal. You may need a reservation. Good place to provision.

Gets a little rough on the wall do to wakes coming in from the lake.

Marina right downtown. Met by dockhands who helped dock. Shopping, restaurants right there. Marine store next door. Clean showers and restrooms.

Very handy, 2009-06-26
Captain: , Port Ontario, Lake Ontario (410)

Marina is right in downtown. Easy walk to most anything. Nice docks in good shape.
