Reviews for Miami Beach Marina
Good Customer Service, 2016-04-04
Captain: , Houston (130)

Jesse at the Dockmaster Office, the young man at the fuel dock and specifically Giovanni our dockhand provided excellent customer service and were more than friendly and helpful at our arrival and during our stay. The restrooms/showers were clean (a little cold. Good A/C) Our only complaints that for the $5/ft price point the concrete fixed docks are quite the challenge with the current (we are a sailboat with 1 engine and no bow thrusters like the motor yachts around) We could have remained in Biscayne Bay for $2/ft less and the same poor docks. Second complaint is the dog poop all over the sidewalks provided by the international residents of the area. Management should powerwash the sidewalks daily. It is really bad. So bad our dog didn't want to walk it.

With this said, location, location, location is prime, walking distance to beach, SouthBeach Dining and quick access to the Atlantic.

There to make money only!!! Service is mediocre., 2016-03-28
Captain: , Montreal, Quebec CANADA (10)

Went to fuel up, fill up on water after having read on Active Captain that they will wave the 4 hour landing fee if you fuel up enough to double the cost of the fee. They do NOT honor this. The guy at the office desk told me that even if I put in a 1000 gallons of fuel they don't do that. It is a private marina in business to make money. No dingy dock available as they find dingy's are a pain. $30.00 to pump out! I have never had to pay for a pump out in Florida before.

Like a Boatyard, 2016-03-02
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (50)

Bob Cooke, Vancouver, B.C.

Stayed here for 2 days in Feb. 2016 & felt like we were staying in a boatyard. Service guys on many boats with radios blaring & workers yelling back & forth to one any other. Management didn't seem to concerned when I complained they should be vetting their vendors. For $7/ft things should be impeccable. No info on local area provided, pool is useless as stated in other reviews. Be careful where they put you as some docks cost more per ft than others. We won't be back.

great location, pricey!, 2016-01-03
Captain: , Jupiter, Fl (110)

Stayed over New Years so a minimum of three days at around 9 per foot was required. Was told it is a rolling Marina which is accurate. Tide is big and getting on off can be a challenge, finger docks are narrow. Was difficult to get a pump out, their excuse was they were so busy, difficult to be sympathetic when you are spending around 1,800 for three day stay. Staff is friendly, did get pumped for an additional 25. Lots to do within a 15 minute walk. Didn't use pool or other facilities, would return due to location.

Nice marina but...., 2015-12-18
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (506)

Short docks not for sailboats nosing straight in. Better suited for power boats. The price is $4.50/ft which is insane given the quality of the docks. Really handy for access to Gov't Cut.

Perfect for South Beach, 2015-07-23
Captain: , Miami, FL (20)

Even though we live across the causeway from MBM, we bring our boat down from Ft. Lauderdale on the ICW at least once a year. It can be rolly and the tide rips through at time and can surprise you. I personally think that a pool that doesn't allow children is a good idea, Monty's is good and a little upscale and South Beach and most of Miami Beach is a short walk. The city bus route runs less than 3 blocks away as well. A great way to see South Beach.

Incredibly convenient..., 2015-02-10
Captain: , Castine, ME (58529)

The marina is in a wonderful location and is incredibly convenient to the Government Cut inlet. We came in from offshore to get fuel and water. The fixed fuel dock is very easy to pull into and has lines on the dock itself. We were met by Gonzales who was friendly and helpful through the process of filling our tanks.

Everything about this marina gives the impression of quality and service.

Nice Facility, greate location, but don't count on the pool., 2015-01-13
Captain: , US East Coast (996)

Location is great, the marina is adjacent to Miami South Beach by walking/biking paths right along the ocean. Staff is very friendly. You're among very nice yatchs of all sizes.

Things I didn't like:
1. Pool is pretty much useless. It's located right in the middle between two bars/restaurants. The worst part was the NO KIDS UNDER 12 policy. Superwised or not, doesn't matter.

2. Fixed concrete docks have only one cleat on 20'-25' long fingers. It doesn't help securing the boat with a tender on swim platform, as the tide has 3'-4' swing.

3. Can be rolly at times due to boating traffic.

Regardless, we'll be back here in the future, just with proper expectations.

Life style of rich and famous, 2014-08-06
Captain: , gainesville (80)

The dock crew is helpfull and freindly , docks are clean and well kept. Great food, and night life in walking distance. Music is a little loud from the club but I did not mind it. One of my best vacations, Fantastic stay !!

Nice to be close to SoBe, if that's what you're looking for, 2014-08-05
Captain: , Miami, fl (3544)

some wakes make it thru the breakwater and somewhat exposed to W/NW winds (frequent after cold fronts)

Things overall have improved over the past couple of years with the staff being much more friendly and helpful. Some current thru the marina but staff is on always on hand to catch lines.

Good solid free wifi thru beacon

Moorings base, 2014-07-24
Captain: , Houston (110)

This is where the moorings base in Miami is. The bathrooms are very nice and there is a pumpout and fuel dock clsoe to the marina entrance. Location is great with lots of restaurants and a publix grocery store very close by.

great location!, 2014-04-24
Captain: , Tampa, FL (60)

Great location. Very friendly staff. Many attractions in the area. You are among the rich and famous here.

All location, 2014-04-16
Captain: , Portland, ME (14)

What brings you here is the proximity to South Beach. Friendly staff. Mediocre facilities. Laundry was a total pain - old machines that don't dry well and the marina could not provide quarters. Fun to walk to restaurants and beach from this location.

Great Location/Bad Docks, 2014-03-20
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

This marina has fantastic facilities and staff. Its location is outstanding as you can easily walk to all that South Beach has to offer. Publix/Wallgreens/CVS and stores are all within a few blocks. There are two negatives that to me are significant. One, this is right by the inlet and as such the current running through it is significant. It can also get quite rollng as well. The other issue is their fixed docks. At low tide, the pier is over 5.5 feet above the water surface making getting on and off difficult.

Poor value, 2014-01-29
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (10)

Stayed two nights December 2013. Dockage was $4.50 a foot, plus city tax, plus sales taxes ($207 for a 42 foot boat). Don't pay that much in a high end resort. Poor internet reception, even though "free". Lousy protection from wind/waves/wakes. After dark, be careful where you walk; take a bus/cab instead. Dock person was very helpful. NEVER AGAIN!! Nicer, safer at Coconut Grove area.

Best Marina in Miami, 2013-11-07
Captain: , Seattle, WA (577)

Great location, easy walk to all that South Beach has to offer. Also right off of Government cut, providing quick and easy ocean access with plenty of depth. A fun beach bar with reasonably priced drinks and a free swimming pool for the kids. Laundry and bathrooms were good, especially compared to those in the keys. Dockhands were very helpful, marina staff pleasant. Prices are steep.

Location Location Location, 2013-06-17
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (266)

Spent two nights here in March of 2013. Staff was very friendly but 'stretched thin' when we arrived. Had us standing by for nearly an hour before we could get into a slip (they were busy landing a super yacht). Be sure to have your fender boards handy, docks and pilings are concrete. I've certainly stayed better marinas, but love to visit Miami Beach. Even at $4.00 per foot.

Epicenter of things to do., 2013-05-11
Captain: , Columbia, Missouri (415)

We've been staying here years. Great location when attending the Miami Boat Show. Walking distance to some excellent restaurants and enough crazy folks around to make life interesting. Pricey and the current surge is not for the timid. Lots of transit mega-yachts.

great location on and off the boat, 2013-04-01
Captain: , miami beach (60)

fantastic restaurants, shopping, and cruising in the area.Nice days you have the ocean and the bay, not so nice days you have the bay and the icw. great shoreside showers. Alot of events are held in the marina. Fun place to be to people watch.

Excellent location, 2013-03-31
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (404)

This is the top location to enjoy South Beach and keep a eye on the action in Government Cut.
If the dockhand had been more hospitable and knowledgeable, and the the showers cleaner, it would have earned 5 stars.
Surge not an issue during our 3 day visit.

Stopped for Lunch, 2013-03-27
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL. (90)

Have not stayed here but pulled in the first time to have lunch at Monty's. Employees very helpful and had us pull into the floating docks. Had heard that we would have to pay and then get a refund if we ate at Monty's. The dock hand said they don't charge now during the week days only on weekends. We thought the facility looked in pretty good shape.

Fading Facility, 2013-03-20
Captain: , San Francisco, CA (211)

Over the years I;ve stayed here about ten times. I think the trend is down. The faciliteis and surronding businesse's are getting run down. The staff still is good but the facility needs updating and cleanimg. I;m looking for alternatives when transiting through Miami.

Stopped for an emergency crew dropoff during a delivery, 2013-03-13
Captain: , Charleston, SC (284)

Don't think you're going to just pull in for 5 minutes to drop off crew. Had to for a family emergency. Not complaining (ok, maybe a little for a truly 5 minute dropoff stop), we all have to make a living, just sayin, you get no dockage breaks for any reason.

Several Visits, 2013-01-09
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

We have stayed here several times. The staff has always been helpful. The marina has alot of surge due to its location. It is close to shopping and has alot of resturants near by. We have never had any power problems here.

Great Marina, 2013-01-02
Captain: , Colorodo (317)

The staff at the marina are all extremely nice and helpful. You can jsut call them on the VHF and they will bring you everything and anything. The floating dock is nice when trying to either go to Monty's Restaurant or to pick up friends.

Very helpful staff, 2012-11-19
Captain: , Annapolis (442)

Nov 15 2012. Final destination for delivery. Very nice crew and most helpful. Pretty swift currents and wakes from ship traffic, but not too bad. Close to everything.

Stayed here several times, 2012-07-27
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (195)

Somewhat pricey, challenging current; pool, restaurants, short walk to South Beach; nice docks (cement); watersports; casino boat/dinner cruise nearby; fuel;

Expensive, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Sarasota FL (50)

Very pricey for a slip that got rocked by passing traffic. Will look for alternative next time thru the area

Easy in and out, 2012-05-30
Captain: , marathon,fl (40)

Didn't stay there but fueled up and had lunch. The fuel dock was easey to manage. Gas was 4.09 The staff friendly and helpful. Monty's resteraunt had a plesant crew running the show. The Prices were a bit high but mind they add 18% gratuity to every check. So tipping is not required.

Great Spot to hang out for a little while., 2012-02-11
Captain: , New Bern, NC (180)

Marina is easy to get into and out of just inside Gov. Cut. You will get some wakes from the larger vessels going in and out of the inlet but nothing too noticable. Docks are concrete and fixed with short finger piers.

Facilities are good and were clean. It's a short walk south to South Beach along the water front. Walking north takes you to a Publix grocery store, Best Buy, Staples and several small shops and eateries. Several bike rental stands in the area and it's a short ride to the Art Deco district.

A good but expensive stop, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

We have stayed at Miami Beach several times when heading north to Grand Bahamas. Once stayed to make a quick crossing to Bimini. It is a very easy in and out through Gov't Cut.

nice overnight spot, 2011-08-04
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

We just passed by on way from Marathon to Ft Lauderdale. Spent one night. had nice time at Montes Raw bar. Friendly staff. Try the Pain Reliever drinks, they do just that. Docks were clean and heads mostly clean.

Overated And Overpriced, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Marco Island, Fl. (20)

We expected to pay more because it's Miami Beach but we did not think there would be roaches all over the dock. Told the dockmaster and he did not seem too surprised.

SOBE You pay for the location, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Hernando Beach, Fl (300)

Great location if you are a sport fisherman or on your way to Bimini. You definitely pay to be in the shadow of South Beach. Goos service and security.

Location, Location, Location...but that's about it., 2010-02-28
Captain: , Mattapoisett, MA (298)

We spent winter 2009/10 at Miami Beach Marina, arriving around Thanksgiving and are planing to depart in late March. The location is fabulous for those with the desire and deep enough pockets to enjoy South Beach. The marina is convienent for vessels not wanting to deal with the ICW and bridges. The docks are fixed concrete with narrow fingers and difficult for sailboats. There is a lot of current and frequent strong winds so it is best to tie off in the middle of the slip, which then makes boarding difficult. Plan on doubling lines and have lots of chafing gear available. We weathered a couple of 40kt blows here and were fine with proper planning and vigilance. The marina facilities are a bit dated but adequate. For the money I'd expect pumpout on each dock and better general maintenance (I finally gave up chasing the staff to fix things like locks on the security gates and loose cleats and just did them myself). The on site marine store which is advertised here has been closed all season. The food at Monty's is overpriced for what you get, but drinks at the bar are nice. South Beach has lots of great dinning establishments to choose from, but beware the automatically added 15-18% gratuity added to checks at most establishments. The multiuse path at South Pointe Park and the beach are wonderful and not to be missed. Overall, it's a nice spot.

Great location, but little else to make the price worth it, 2010-01-30
Captain: , Key West, FL (748)

While we were crazy about Miami, and South Beach in particular, this marina at $273/night for our trawler, was outragously expensive for a fixed dock that is too high to be comfortable for out dog. The good news here is that you are very close to some great parks, great bike riding, terrific restaurants (check out the walking area on Lincoln), and this is one truly great city. I'd consider moving here! Much nicer feel to it than most large cities. And a truly beautiful location.

Not the bang for the buck., 2007-06-09
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

Cost 4.00 per foot. Service was OK... nice folks. Docks are not what you would expect for the money. Close to South Beach is the attraction. If that means anything to you it may be worth the money once.

World Class Public Marina Has it all including High Prices, 2007-04-21
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (258)

Miami Beach Marina is truly world class, It is your jumping off point for the Bahamas, the Florida Keys and the Caribbean. Yachts from the world over clear in to the U.S. here as well. The setting is “salty” and I love it.

The docks are fixed concrete with Major 12-14inch wood dolphin piles. Trash, water and electric all at the dock. The piers are all secured by heavy steel gates and pass cards are required to enter, get a pass key for each in your party. Docking assignments are by radio and attendants are very helpful. The Harbormasters office is out on the T-Head at the fuel docks and they have gas and diesel (Texaco as I recall), high speed nozzles are available for the big boys.

Showers and shore side heads are available with key access as are laundry facilities.

There is a floating dock just off the Tiki Bar and this is for Monty’s guests, over nights on the floating docks are not normally permitted, but ask the dock boys. The dock is manned until around 3 pm. If no one answers your hail in the wee hours of the morning they ask you tie up to the east sides of the T-Head gas docks and wait for docking instructions in the AM. But be ready to move early!

The marina is very protected from easterly winds, but exposed to all else. The current is swift and surge on the tide change can be very "rock n roll" for 20 minutes. When docking at any time other than slack tide, respect the current. In a blow you may have to set double lines and fender boards would be recommended. The dock being concrete, begs for chain leads on stern and spring lines or at least hefty chafe gear in any thing longer than a lunch tie up or when the wind howls. I’ve seen ½ inch lines on a 32 Open parted in less than an hour during a heavy surge.

The marina complex includes a Tiki Bar with pool and restaurant (Monty's) and the food and booze good and the atmosphere casual,. Live music is generally playing on week end nights. Just a few blocks away is Joe's Stone Crab (THE JOES and they do not take reservations) and Smith & Wollensky's (and you’d better have reservations) both great but pricey. The dock boys might be willing to run you close to these in their golf carts for a nice tip ... ask under your breath though as they are not supposed to provide this service.

Located in the complex is a well stocked dive shop, and chandlery. There was a deli the last I looked, but call the harbor master for details on that. Groceries are not at hand and you'll have to venture off for those.

The marina is located at the foot to Miami Beach and the notorious South Beach area is but blocks away ... on that I'm not talking but to say your senses and sensibilities will be assaulted at every turn so take your wallet and your open mind with you.
