Reviews for Miamarina at Bayside
Suprisingly good, 2016-10-21
Captain: , currently Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4407)

We stopped here for one night on our way back to the Keys as the weather made anchoring unattractive. We didn't expect much, but were surprised at the service offered by the staff; from making our reservation, to responding on the radio with directions to our slip, to docking assistance, it was top notch. We were also worried about the noise from the bridge, railroad and the shopping mall, but found our mid-week stay very pleasant. And, it is hard to beat being in the center of Miami, especially with the secuirty offered by electronic locks on the gates at each pier, and the roving secuirty after dark. Will place Bayside on lur list for a return visit.

Great Day stop, 2016-04-28
Captain: , Newport, RI (330)

Clear communications and dockhand waiting on bulkhead - $14 for 3 hours - enjoyed lunch and a stroll through the mall

Took the "day" rate, 2016-04-13
Captain: , United States (2538)

We needed to get someone aboard to look at our watermaker, but did not need overnight dockage. Miamarina has a three-hour "day" rate, which four our length boat was $30 (it's a sliding scale, not per-foot).

Even though we were only going to be here for three hours mid-day, they insisted on squeezing us into a slip on dock 4 (the one without the locking gate). The marina staff seemed confused by what slips were or were not available.

The marina itself is in decent shape and I would not hesitate to stay there based solely on that. However, it is encircled by the enormous Bayside Markey complex which is a busy and chaotic place. Even at lunch time it was noisy; I can not imagine wanting to stay here on a weekend night.

The pumpout ($5) was useable but not convenient -- you need to wrestle the hose all the way down the dock. We did not need one, but if you do not have the quick-connect fitting on your boat, you'll need to get the fitting adapters from the office along with the key to the pump.

The Marketplace is basically a mall like you'd find in any major city suburb, but with a handful of additional restaurants along the waterfront. Every one a tourist trap.

We would return on the day rate again if we needed to visit downtown Miami, but I'd be hard pressed to recommend this for an overnight stay unless you are a real night owl who likes the club vibe.

The marina basin was easy to access from the ICW, but you should make a Securite call before entering or exiting -- lots of big tour boats using the channel and it can get tight. All the tour skippers do give a call before using the channel so listen carefully.

We like it,,,, not for everyone, 2016-01-27
Captain: , Knoxville (123)

We love this marina. When we make it to Miami we want action and location. Bayside is definetly a tourist trap but the live music at night, some fun shopping to pass the time and having a fat tuesdays I can visit when I like are awesome. We do not find the noise to be a problem but we are usually up past the band. I think the restrooms are probably rough but we do not use them. I think this place would be tough to manage and handle all the personalities and desires of people otherwise I think it would have a higher rating. Personally we are not afraid to stay here.

Location is only redeeming factor, 2016-01-20
Captain: , Point Edward (428)

Showers/washrooms are as bad as previously reported if not worse. Little cleanup on a daily basis.
No assistance with docking until we had already started tying up so no point.
No security gate on dock we were assigned to but same price.
Noisy with loud music as expected with location.
This marina caters to the big boats who don't use their shore facilities. Little value for price for smaller boats.

Great location but lousy facilities, 2015-10-18
Captain: , Tempe, AZ (240)

Facilities are filthy and in disrepair. Staff are lazy and are unwilling to help. Typical government worker.

Excellent night spent, 2015-08-05
Captain: , Hollywood, FL (30)

Called ahead and reserved a slip (pier 3 slip 2 if memory serves) - we had a fantastic time there, the marina is so much more roomy than our home port at Loggerhead. All the shops in the world to visit, restaurants etc. We went to a concert at the AAA and strolled back for a comfy night onboard our lovely sailboat. Had a fantastic time. Circle of life moment for us too - I used to work at Bayside (working 2 jobs back then!) and used to look out at the boats on anchor and dream. So for us this meant something more than just a safe anchorage. Loads of traffic coming in and out of course but that didn't phase us and with the air conditioning and fans on in the boat neither did the late night festivities at Bayside. We had a wonderful time and will be back for sure.

Meh... Expensive but convenient to downtown. Dock staff ambivalent., 2015-07-07
Captain: , Key Largo (392)

Brought the boat up for the 4th of July o and booked two nights. Called in and announced arrival and was given our slip assignment on B dock. No assistance offered or given in docking from the staff.

Transient dockage was expensive for what ammentities were offered.

Mixed review, amenities were good docks were below average., 2015-05-14
Captain: , Melbourne, FL (232)

Saturday May 9th, 2015 %u2013 Stayed here one night with relatives in town to see. Marina was a typical Miami City marina. No help offered coming in. Tried the TV cable, didn%u2019t work. Office staff was friendly enough taking my $3 per foot cost. Took a shower, a nice building but the bathrooms were atrocious. The grout in the stall was full of mold and the cheep shower curtain was black with mold. I would not go back in after this. Bayside shopping and food was a big plus, very nice. I did feel secure behind the locked dock gates, lots of people walking around Bayside after dark. Hard Rock Cafe only a few feet away from the docks. %u2013 Had a talk with one of the dock masters and was told the office and bathrooms were to be torn down in the next few months with no estimate in time on the replacement. This is an ongoing 3-year renovation on the facility I was told.

Convenient, good staff, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Coconut Grove, USA (121)

We had to stop here on a windy day, the staff was very accommodating. It may be loud with all the boats going in and out.

Very Urban experience, 2015-03-09
Captain: , Nashville, TN (290)

Stayed for 5 nights waiting out weather and enjoyed our stay. Excellent location to enjoy Miami.Transportation was easy with free shuttle. Little Havana was a cultural experience. Docks were in good shape and dockhands were helpful. Good protection from wind and waves. Limited laundry. Docks were very secure.

It is what it is, 2015-02-07
Captain: , Wickford, RI (550)

As prior review notes it's right downtown; within walking distnace to many attractions and to cheap ground transportation (bus or train) to most any other place you want to go. The food in the surrounding mall is tourist variety - you'll get much better at much less a price if you get away and into the town, particularly Little Havana. Showers and restrooms work well and are what you'd expect of a municipal marina. Staff was friendly and helpful.

If you like it you will love it, 2015-01-27
Captain: , Lewes, DE (424)

We spent 4 nights in Miamarina because all of the Dinner Key area options were full. I read all the prior reviews so we went in with our eyes open. The marina is right in the heart of downtown. The city vibe and access to anything is great! We walked to te arena one night for a Heat game, biked to South Beach, rented a car and shopped all over. Living was cool. The cable didn't work but we had tons of channels and many of them in English! Slips are well protected from wake or weather and you can sleep peacefully. Yes, tehre is lots of musicaround the marina but it adds to the ambience. There are however 2 big negatives. The first is the construction project currently being developed at the Marina. Miamarina is the site of Skyrise Miami that is being constructed from now until about 2018. So the marina and all the grounds will be in some state of repair or disprepair until then. The other major negative wasthe birds. I'm sure some brd watcher will attack me, but the birds trash the place. Every morning about sun up and every evening about sun down waves of grakels, black birds and ravens descend on the marina as they pass through between roostings and City hangouts and leave their marks on everything in place. They not only land on the horizontal surfaces but on vertical surfaces as well to leave their droppings for the unsuspecting boat owner. Except for these 2 major issues we loved the marina.

Depends on What You Want, 2015-01-13
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

No better place if you want to be in the thick of the nightlife and central to Miami. But if you spent a miserable weekend day crawling down the ICW ditch to get there and just want to have a quiet meal and turn in, look elsewhere. Ongoing construction interferes, but promises to provide improvements once complete.

OK if you must stay, 2014-12-14
Captain: , Colington Harbour (20)

The music from the stage at center of docks BLARES all day and some nights until 0400, others, 0200. All ports were closed and the heat pumps running to try to dround out the incessant pounding of the rythum. Even wore ear plugs Sat. night. Marina is under heavy renovation with concrere sawing and other noise and dust. The little harbor is filthy. This for $2.85 a foot. The ladies rom smelled and the first mate would not use it. The marina is adjacent to down town and across the water from South Beach. Very touristy, but not in a bad way. Do not recommend this marina based on the incredible noise and construction. Oh, no wifi, no fuel, and no TV. Air TV stations are mostly blocked by the high rise buildnings and could not receive any network channels.

Helpful Dock hands and great place in the middle of Downtown Miami, 2014-11-14
Captain: , Charleston SC (733)

Wwe stayed one night to meet visitors from Overseas. The Marina staff was great as was the guy than helped us dock. We are not really dock people but it was nice to clean up and have a/c for a night. They are in the midst of a large reconstruction project so the area is somewhat torn up but not enough to spoil the downtown ambiance. Staff was extremely accomodating to our guests and we had a lovely quiet night after their departure.

I think I would rate this a five if not for the present construction issues. We did not use the showers or other facilities ashore.

Boat show location, 2014-09-01
Captain: , Oriental,NC (327)

Cool during the boat show, and has a lot of restaurants, but a pain in the ass otherwise.

Good stop, convenient location , 2014-01-25
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Stayed two nights on A dock hitch is least scenic but quiet at night. No bother with night time noise.Power and water good on fixed docks. Pump out was not working properly, parts on order. $2.75/ft + electric. Wifi only near office. Great location near public transportation, many restaurants America Airline arena right next door, home of Miami Heat NBA team, went to game lots of fun. Publix about 1.2 mikes North very nice store. Can take public transportation there and many places. Water taxi on site going to Miami Beach, $10 each way per person. Many shops in Bayside complex. Safe area for walking. Noise will improve once new tunnel to Port of Miami opens.

great for short stays, 2013-05-25
Captain: , Utica, Ohio (245)

Put in here for one night to recover from sailing straight from Freeport. Marina is in the midst of a shopping mall with every kind of store and numerous restaurants just steps from the boat. We arrived two days after the Miami Sailboat show and the slips were half empty I suppose because the regulars hadn't yet returned. Easy access in and out and convenient to Govenmnet cut and Biscayne Bay. Great for a night or two but then the 'action' would probably get old for me.

Not a good place for overnight, 2013-05-12
Captain: , San Antonio Texas (46)

We stayed in May 2013 for one night passing through Miami just for the downtown experience. While the entertainment is interesting, the facilities for the marina are inadequate. The restrooms and showers are poorly maintained with tiles missing and filthy conditions. They looked more like a public restroom rather than a pricey marina restroom and shower.Would not go back there.

Fun Place For a Change of Pace, 2013-04-21
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

We chose this marina for a convenient start to our key west cruise. We we here on a Saturday night and had a great time. Dock hand helped us tie up and was helpful giving direction for getting to the publix that is close by. Then we walked the waterfront "mall" that is bayside checking out the shops and entertainment. We had dinner outside at a Cuban place with terrific people watching, decent food and good Mojitos.

As others have said, this is right downtown and very active at night. There is outdoor music, lots of people and it's a city center but that's not bad, just less typical for marina stays. For what it is, we'd come back.

Enjoyable stay, 2013-03-27
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL. (90)

We have been here before but had never stayed overnight. Pulled in on Thursday and stayed 1 night. We were met at the dock and given help tying up and with electric hook up. As others have said, great shopping and food with Band's playing until 11:00. Shower rooms and rest rooms were ok. For longer stays would give up the shopping for a location with a pool.

great fun, 2012-08-09
Captain: , cocoa (130)

We staged here to get ready to cross to Bimini. It has alot of music and food. Fun Fun Fun. Everyone had a great time...No fuel---No Pool. Your are right down Town...We took a Taxi to the Grocery store..close 1 mile.

Great Place to Get Out and Enjoy Miami, 2012-05-16
Captain: , Houston TX (348)

We were somewhat hesitant to go here based on earlier reviews of it being so noisy but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, there is a lot of commercial traffic and you are docking inside a mall, but the docks are nice and having all the shops and restaurants right there was a lot of fun. There are at least two very good Cuban restaurants at Bayside. We were on C dock, the closest dock to the mall. There are live bands every night so we were unable to have a quiet evening in the cockpit, but when we went down below we did not hear the music and had no problem sleeping. A city worker came out and helped us tie up and they were helpful and friendly in the office. On the down side, the finger piers are fixed concrete and very short. We had trouble getting the dog off the boat for her walks. If you can back in, it won't be a problem. The bathrooms were old and a bit tired, but kept very clean. We did not use the laundry facility, although there is one there. They list WiFi and cable as amenities, but they don't work and they do not have pumpout at the slip. They do have a pumpout boat, but it appears that it only goes to mega yachts. The rest of us have to go to the pumpout station by the office. We enjoyed our stay there and will go back if we are in the Miami area. Although it is hectic and noisy during the day, we enjoyed being able to get out and see the city and did not have any problems with the music and noise during the evenings.

Not for the faint of heart., 2011-05-18
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (91)

This place rocks. Which can be good or bad. If you want boat traffic, live music, loud parties, and lots to do right on the premisis, than this is the place for you. Like one of the other reviews said if you want a good night sleep dont go here. Gloria Estefans place across the street goes till about 3:30 am with loud music and beats. But this is the place to shop. listen to music and party. Have fun!!

A Destination Marina, 2011-04-20
Captain: , St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (404)

One of the few great waterfront shopping malls with tons to see and do. Lots of restaurants and bars and specialty shops. Many chain stores like Victoria Secrets, Wet Seal, Rave, etc... lots of clothing and shoe specialty stores, gift shops and touristy shops. Great themed restaurants like Bubba Gumps and Hooters and Hard Rock Cafe. Live music nightly with big bands on Friday & Saturday nights. A Must See destination spot. Come for the day, and spend the night.

A destination, 2010-04-24
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

Went in with 7 boats. Lots to do. Not the place if looking for one night of good sleep! Get out and see the city.

Noisy but entertaining location, 2008-03-04
Captain: , Miami, fl (3544)

if you're looking for a quiet peaceful marina... this is the wrong place! try Dinner Key instead. Bayside is a tourist place, with dozens of shops and restaurants, music, etc...

It's also close to the bridge going to the Port of Miami so you have to deal with truck noise, but for one night, it's not bad if you run the AC!

They have temporary dockage along the wall for the restaurants and shops, $24 for a 58 footer (3 or 4 hours). Busy on week end though...

In the Heart of Downtown Miami, 2007-06-25
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (258)

This city marina has new docks and is inside a large entertainment complex full of bars, eateries, dance clubs ... something for young and old alike. Miami is more a like a latin country and the more Spanish you speak the more you'll enjoy the community, although English is the first language, you'll quickly see what I mean. The marina is quiet in the day and loud in the evenings. Best spot for the party minded.

Close by is the shopping center of old Miami, a short stroll to the east will take you to shops and the business city center. The American Airlines Center where major concerts are held is a block away. The Intercontential Hotel is just 2000 feet to the south and their bars and restrauants are fantastic.

Sunrise is special along the warf to your east as the sun rises over Biscayne Bay. A gambleing boat departs the Marina Complex nightly for cruises to no where and games of chance.

This is a great CITY experience and a jumping off spot to work your way south along the ICW to the Keys. I like this spot for a party week end ... but not a place for the quiet relaxed get away .... Dock master services are nominal and I mean that as stated. Bring what ever you're going to need with you and just hang out eat drink and scoot.

Go for the entertainment, 2007-01-28
Captain: , Miami (53)

Bayside is a retail, restaurant, and entertainment complex and that is what you get. Lots of restaurants some good and some not so good, Bubba Gumps is my favorite here. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe and many others.. Lots of shops for clothing and just about anything else except a Marine store - go to Miami Marina for that. I have never spent the night here but have gone for the afternoon for lunch and in evening for dinner. The dock hands were friendly and helpful to me. The office did not seem to care if I was there or not. They were not ugly but these guys are not driven by customer service either.

Worst Marina Ever Visited, 2007-01-20
Captain: , Oriental, NC (7)

We spent 1 night here in Dec., 06 and will never return. The staff is lazy, rude and refuse to help with docklines, etc. All they care about is that you pay. The Marina is next to Bayside with 3 loud, different beat bands playing constantly until 11 PM.
