Reviews for Melbourne Harbor Marina
Very Nice Location, 2017-07-10
Captain: , Oregon (386)

Just off the ICW this marina has a shallow entrance (stay to the red side) that is made easier at higher tides. The dockmaster was helpful and knowledgeable and our two day stay went pretty well. Ichabods is a great boaters hangout at the top of the docks. The town has plenty of places to visit as well, whether you need cold adult beverages, cigars, bead/sewing projects, hardware stores, the place has it! All with a low-key atmosphere. We'll be back.

Great Place But ...., 2017-06-10
Captain: , Brunswick, GA (301)

Have to agree with previous comments about Dock master. Contacted Marina (we'd made reservation) when we were in the channel, but cut off and no further docking instructions until we saw someone waving arms by slip. Dock master standing by office radio on belt but not helping. When we checked in he was so apathetic I'd think he was on something. Took several tries to get signed up for two days (he kept charging us for one day and when we finally did pay for two days he later said we only paid for one until he checked records -- just weird). We wanted to fuel going out, but dock master was "helping" another boat by standing around while they skipper tried to get the pump started. We just left.

The good points are a well protected Marina (some shallow slips) with a nice restaurant/bar "Icabod's" on site. Great town. Highly recommend Seafood Station, a casual outdoor place - an old gas station - right across from Nomads just north of Marina.

We would stay again but with proper expectations.

Great Stopping Point, 2017-04-13
Captain: , Palm City, FL (10)

Stopped here for 2 night stay in mid-March. First "big" ICW trip on our boat. Called Phil in advance for local knowledge. He was very helpful - favor the RED side. Met us at the fuel dock to fill up and then with dock assistance. He was very patient & helpful. On shore, helped with reservation at The Chart House - great spot. Old Town Melbourne is quaint place to walk, dine, & shop. We will definitely return.

Great Stop - Phil was a pleasure, 2017-04-10
Captain: , Chicago (660)

We came into Melbourne a little worried about depth in the channel, worried about wind with docking and having read all the reviews about how awful the owner can be. Thankfully for us Phil was working! He was helpful when we called to reserve and again helpful and waiting on the dock for us when we pulled in. He got us tied up. When my husband checked in he asked about the reviews. Phil said he knew about them. We thanked him for being so easy to work with.

Town is cute. Lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. We ate at La Vela for pizza and The Mansion. And we got shrimp from the new Melbourne Seafood Station a block from the marina.

Nice stop for us, 2017-03-13
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (40)

Efficient, helpful young dockmaster (Phil) took good care of us.
Facility is sheltered; bath house is aging but maintained. Slips at end of basin are silting in to 3-4 feet.
Historic section of town with restaurants, boutiques, etc. is adjacent. Locals recommend Ichabod's, The Mansion, Matt's Casbah, Nomads and all are good.
Need a bike or a car to get to Publix, etc.

Arrived after dark, left before sunrise, 2017-02-07
Captain: , High Springs, FL (848)

We stayed here on 2/3/17 during a delivery trip. Talked with Phil and explained we would be there several hours after closing. He gave us simple directions and contcted a local guy to assist us in tying up when we arrive.

Other than electrictiy we didn't use anything else but found the overnight easy enough to deal with.

3 star facility, arrogant dockmaster, excellent town, 2017-01-26
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (3189)

3 25 2017 Transient price$1.75' Facility average. Dockmaster is big deterent to staying here with his attitude. Its a shame as town is definateley worth visiting. Lots of shops and places to dine.

Sheltered, tight channel. EZ access to town., 2016-12-12
Captain: , Oriental NC (239)

On a t-head. Very sheltered. Young Mann on duty was great at helping us tie. Short walk to Old Melbourne shops and restaurants. Clean, spartan shores and laundry. Saw 6.7 near R 4 on our way out a foot above low tide.

Don't ruin your day, 2016-12-01
Captain: , Port Credit (10)

Came here for fuel and also ask for some water. I was asked how muck water I need and I said about 25 galons. Then I was told that I have to pay 10$ for the water, which translates to about 40c a galon. The caribbean countries that desalinize water dont charge this price.
I just left without water and fuel.
About the dock master / owner attitude read the other reviews.
If you can stay away from this marina. The anchorages are excelent.

Grumpy dock master, 2016-11-30
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Shallow entrance channel. Dock master is grumpy, bossy and condescending. Made the whole docking experience very unpleasant. Dock master had arguments about docking with other boats that pulled in after us, so I know the problem was not us, but him! He refuses to fuel boats after 4:30, even though he said they close at 5:30. Great location very close to downtown area with many shops and restaurants, but the whole experience with the dock master makes the area not worth the stop. Would never come back again.

Lousy harbourmaster, 2016-11-16
Captain: , Melbourne, Fl (50)

Came to Melbourne Harbor for lunch at Ichabod"s Resturant (food good). Called harbourmaster for docking instructions. Minimal verbal instructions on slip location. Finally found the slip, trying to back 15.5 ft beam boat into 16 ft slip. One piling had 2, 4" spikes protruding. Harbourmaster standing 50 yds away chain smoking cigarettes and never offered or came to render assistance. When asked why he did not render assistance he said "you were just here for lunch and I don't help". Terrible attitude.

Nice overnight stop, 2016-10-21
Captain: , Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4686)

We had planned to stop on oour way to the Keys at Cocoa Village but Hurricane Matthew altered our plans and we stopped here instead. While the docks were ok [we were placed along the fuel dock], the real treat was discovering the charming downtown just a few blocks away. Many nice looking restaurants and bars. We will definetly consider staying here again to take advantage of Melbourne's charms. Otherwise, the marina is just ok, with workable docks and electrical hook-ups. Nothing special, but an easy in and out.

Poor service, bad attitude, transient dock in need of repair, 2016-10-17
Captain: , Grant (10)

No help getting into the slip. Dockmaster was apparently having a bad day - very bad attitude. Loud early morning boater - continous loud engine running for over half any hour before leaving the facility and loudly berating the facility as they left - said they were never coming back. Also, the transient dock is in poor repair.

functional but not pleasant!, 2016-06-09
Captain: , Lakeview Park Marina Windsor ON (366)

we came in after a wet and stormy passage from Fort Pierce. watch out for the entrance channel. we draw 6' and my depth sounder, calibrated to show 0.0 at grounding, read 0.0 for the last 100 yards. we didn't ground so I guess the bottom is low viscosity muck. the dock master is somewhat taciturn but helpful. the harbour is well protected on all sides. a good spot in a big blow. the real negative here is the on site restaurant "Ichabod's". it's a watering hole for locals who know not to eat the food. we ordered " local" grouper and were served "garbage" regrettably each of us felt it was "just me" and so kept our comments until after we left. not a good idea. none of us were ill from the experience buy all meals should have been returned.

Cocoa Much Better Stop!, 2016-04-30
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (640)

Usually when coming into a marina we are met by friendly welcoming dock staff. This was not our experience at Melbourne Harbor. The man who came out to help us did a minimal, but adequate job in getting us into a slip. He was not friendly or welcoming. We did enjoy a fabulous dinner on the rooftop deck across the street at The Mansion restaurant. There is a small deli with a huge selection of beer and a smaller, but nice selection of wine. Their dinner menu (available online)is varied and well executed.

Nice place to stay., 2016-04-28
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

We read all the reviews and decided to try it out. The proximity to Town is great. We were having some problems with our a/c and thrusters and the owner gave us the name of a guy to use. It was after 5pm when I called and he came right over. Was very pleased with his services. Did what he could tonight and will be back in the morning to finish after getting necessary parts. Owner certainly doesn't smile much and does seem grumpy but he did provide us with great service and that is what really counts. Would definitely come back.

Update 4/24/16 - We stopped again for a night. Dockmaster (not owner) was great. Very helpful. We stayed right on the fuel dock as we were leaving early the next morning. Warned us off from buying fuel as it would have taken it to the bottom of the barrel. They had a run on fuel and were very low. Really appreciated that advice. Don't want to chance bad fuel. Not a bad walk into town and had a great meal. I have problems walking and it was ok for me. Water is shallow coming in at spots. Saw around 6-7 feet but deeper once you get into the harbor. Dock in good shape. Didn't use the facilities this time so no update on that.

cranky, condecending manager, 2016-02-12
Captain: , Tall Timbers (10)

shuffles slowly down dock, won't catch line unless it falls at his feet, cranky, "why did you disturb me" manner.

Safe Place to stop, 2016-02-08
Captain: , Racine, WI (525)

Docks are somewhat old, but harbor master was right there with good directions and there to assist with lines. Not much within walking distance if you are looking for groceries.

Stopped for fuel. Diesel is $2.25, 2016-02-02
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (908)

Stopped for fuel. The attendent was just short of rude, definately unfriendly. He did not help untie us to get off the dock.

Unexpected stop, 2016-01-09
Captain: , Shinnecock Bay, NY (610)

Was trying to get from Titusville to Ft. Pierce in one hop but needed fuel and got lazy so I came in here. Nice place, a little low on the water coming in (I saw <7' and I need 5.5', but 1 inch above necessary is fine with me.) Got deeper once I was in the harbor. Docks are fixed, but fingers are acceptible. the outside piling is a bit far out for me (34' sail) so I had to tie up before my gate got to the dock. Showers are acceptable, seen plenty worse. Icabods had a great Tuna Club Sandwhich. WiFi is shared with the resturant and the antenna is inside so reception in the marina is almost nill. I did see the signal once, but couldn't connect, using my phone right now. The wifi is keeping this review to 3 stars.

A very OK place to stay, 2015-12-28
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1146)

They are dredging the channel in, so it was hard to get by, but once they are finished there should be no more depth problems. The DockMaster got us in stern in all OK and that's all I ask. Fixed docks so be prepared with bow lines on Port and Starboard as well as stern lines on both sides as well. Good restaurant right by the boat and we had some food and drinks there. Didn't walk into town, but there are several grassy park type areas good for walking dogs if you have them. The shower was just a tad bit on the dirty side which kept this review to 3 stars. I don't require perfection, but it sure is nice when they are super clean.

Surprisingly pleasant, 2015-12-14
Captain: , Melbourne FL (120)

We booked here for 3 months Dec to Feb. Our initial reservation was lost but all was sorted when we phoned. Its very protected up Crane Creek, you hardly feel the wind, and only ripples on the water). Only 150 yards to nice downtown and Ichabods bar/restaurant on site is a very pleasant local. Highway 1 runs close by but its above yacht level, and you forget it after a while. There isnt a big liveaboard community but Ichabods makes up for it, and its pleasant to talk to people who arent live aboards as well as liveaboards.

Good service, 2015-12-03
Captain: , Charleston, SC (364)

We have stopped here half dozen times and have read reviews about DM.
Our experience today was very good. Rain and fairly strong winds but dock master was very knowledgeable and helpful and we had no problems.
As said entrance is shallow but DM gave clear instructions and we had no issues ( 5.5ft draft )
Nice facility with good restaurants on site.

Not first on my list, 2015-11-27
Captain: , New Bern, NC (73)

We have stayed here twice in the past, though the latest was 8 or 9 years ago. We have bypassed it lately due to all the reports about shoaling. So when we were recently in the area (by car) we paid the marina a visit, 11/22/2-15.
These are two observations, based on a cursory walk through:
The fixed wooden docks are becoming quite rough and uneven, and may be treacherous, especially at night.
The electrical system on the docks I observed was in such poor condition I was surprised how it would withstand code inspection. I would be not connect to this system.
I hope that improvements can be made to this enetrprise.

quaint marina, 2015-11-12
Captain: , Jupiter, Fl (140)

Made a reservation a day ahead, took three tries before phone was answered. Had read mixed reviews, but we had a good stopover. DM is no nonsense straight forward old salt. 63 foot yacht 18 beam drawing 5 feet followed directions carefully coming in and thought I would ground, showed 2 inches under keel. Stern into a very tight slip but no issues. Town is OK, shopping and restaurants are good. Not a first class resort but nice enough, I will come back.

dock master, 2015-11-10
Captain: , Savannah ga (10)

I've noticed a lot of the reviews are from several years ago so I thought I'd make a comment something i never do but felt necessary.
I'll start by saying that I stayed here a year ago to the day and had a great experience but....
Around noon Today I decided I'd come back(chart house on site is very appealing) big mistake! Called and made a reservation. "Dock master" seemed confused on the phone like I was bothering him. Told him i would need a 40 foot sleep and 250+ gallons of diesel. "Ok we close at 5:30 what's your eta" Little before 5 I explained
he enforced i close at 5:30
I was tied up with power etc at 4:45
Dock master refused to fuel us until 7:15am. When I asked why he simple said "I'm tired I've been here since 7"
I'm a delivery captain and in the 12 years this is a first. I'd avoid this place until new management/owner

Very Good Location, 2015-08-15
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (280)

Courteous and professional service. Clean showers, laundry and bathrooms. Great restaurants within walking distance. Wifi was non existent. Did not try to get it resolved. Would come back here again for sure.

Only sometime grumpy, 2015-08-07
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

03/07/15 - We called in here for our crew change. We were told in advance to make a reservation, which we did.
Little dicey getting in at low tide (6' draft), but no problem.
Initially i found the DM a bit abrupt and business like, but good at his job.
Later in the bar, after work hours, we got to know him and he is a very warm and wonderful person.
Good service, clean docks, however the head and laundry facility need updating as it is an oven in there, when doing laundry.

dock master rude, 2015-06-07
Captain: , Dallas (30)

We called to reserve a slip the dock master asked the info on our boat, and our info after that he asked for our eta. I told about him 6pm he said no they close at 5:30pm. So I asked can we still dock and settle up In the morning he said no they had to be there for us to dock. He then asked if I wanted to make reservation, said no cause I could not gauratnee our eta. Even if I could get there before 5:30 we will not patron this place just from the rudiness of the dock master, we would rather anchor out than give any of our money to a place that can't simply provide good customer service.

Great Marina, 2015-06-01
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This is a great little marina. Well protected and close to the old downtown with restaurants etc. Docks are in good shape, bathrooms are clean and in good repair. Marina staff were extremely helpful and responsive to phone and channel 16. Pump-out on arrival was easy.

Dock master, 2015-04-21

Nice marina for short stay. Didn't care for dockmaster

There are better places to stay, 2015-04-17
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (960)

Unsecured dock where the public walks by. Garbage dumpster behind the restaurant, where I needed to search for. The dock person was good to help us dock, but unhelpful otherwise. I had to pull the information about the marina from him---bath/shower/laundry need a key with deposit. Wifi--read the packet sir. The wifi did not reach our dock so did not have any service. Marina is old and needs updating. One wheelbarrow locked at offce, so I did not do laundry as too much of a hike. Should have some at the docks. Ichabods on site is a nice venue and given a $5 coupon when docking, besides a local newspaper and map in the welcome packet. Chart House also walking distance, and the downtown has many nice dining and shopping venues and a short walk.

April 2015: Returned over Easter holiday. Dockage on main dock near office--much better experience. Dock crew very helpful in all respects. Bath/shower/laundry house locked, so stays clean from any public use. Transients get a key that works fine. We felt safer this visit. Downtown is very active and good shops and dining fun spots. Meg O'Malley was great.

Adequate place for a single night stay, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Forest Lake, MN (80)

Shower/restroom could use some upgrading. Icahbod's was fun - the grouper medalions with sweet chili sauce hit the spot. El Ambia Cubano has exceptional food for a really good price.

Good place for a stop, 2015-03-15
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, FL (143)

We spent a couple of nights here a week ago. The marina is in good shape, the harbor protected, and the channel from the intracoastal no problem for our 4' 8" draft. The big plus here are the on-site restaurants and the many restaurants of different types a short walk from the marina. The heads could be spruced up a bit. A good stop.

VirginIa Lee, 2015-02-18
Captain: , Port Clinton Ohio (52)

we came in off the ICW after a vertical windy day with small craft warnings out for tonight with possible gale force wind. We decided to get a dock for the night. After reading other reviews we entered the harbor hugging the reds from #6 on in the very protected harbor where the dock master was there to greet us. He was very professional and matter of fact getting us into unfamiliar type finger docks. He was very helpful and curtious. The place is up to date and clean. A good stop.

Nice to see Melbourne, 2014-12-13
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

I would give this more stars, if the Marina was not so greedy. $159 live aboard fee (plus they double that fee as a deposit to be mailed back to you in a check) above the over priced dockage fees even if you do not use any of the facilities. I was lucky to rent from a slip owner which made it manageable. There are a lot of homeless in the area and we had one try to board the boat on the first night, so be aware. They pass out meals to them on Thursdays in the park between the Marina and the downtown area and walking this route will result in being asked for money. Two dock masters. One is very helpful and pleasant the other, well, let's just say he has been doing his job to long. You will figure it out. We came back to spend a fri and sat to visit downtown again not using a marina slip, electric or water and the Marina is making us pay a $5 live aboard fee for each day!!! I use my boat not there facilities and you would need there keys anyway. I wish Downtown Melbourne would put in a dinghy dock. This is why cruisers go from Cocoa Village/Titusville to Vero Beach and pass up a nice town like Melbourne.
Icabods dockside is a great place to eat and the bartenders and staff are great. Don't pass them up.

Rundown facilities., 2014-07-13
Captain: , Fort Pierce (72)

Sorry to say that id you have females onboard you may want to pass on this one. Tom was helpful upon arrival and did confirm my concern about the channel with a stay to the starboard recomendation. (in so doing we saw 6' of depth) Not overly friendly tho,,,,to the poimt of beimg annoyed, so don't expect any smiling faces. A very well protected marina.

Good fun stopover, 2014-06-05
Captain: , London (709)

We are a 62 ft Motor yacht drawing 6ft 3" so I had some reservations about the depth to enter the marina. Most of the way was 8 ft but just outside the entrance my two depth finders said I should be aground, both said 5ft 10" however no bumps and all that happened was the weed on the bottom slowed us down. The marina supplied a good welcome package with a map and the daily papers. The old town is fun and worth a visit, used Yelp to find a retaurant and went to the mansion house, wow, realy good food. A little bit of dredging and some WiFi would make this a 4 star stay.

3 stars with a push, 2014-05-21
Captain: , Boothbay Harbor, Maine (310)

Nice protected harbor. Saw around 5.5' just as you round the corner into the harbor. Favored the reds. The fuel dock can accommodate boats over 50' but there is only room for one. The slips are a bit tight with a stern in entrance. The concrete floating piers are nice. The town is a short walk from the marina and is very pleasant, but my wife got quite turned off by some sketchy characters who frequent the small town park just around the corner from the marina and on the way to town. Ichabods restaurant is fun and right at the marina. The dockmaster Phil needs a few lessons in customer service. He is arrogant and only slightly helpful with docking. One very nice Grand Banks had an unfortunate encounter with the cement dock when backing in while we were at the marina. The boat sustained some serious damage to the teak swim platform. Somewhat later, we mentioned to Phil how this was such a bad break for the owner, and he replied, most sympathetically, "that is why we have cement docks". Dockage at $1.75/ft. is not justified for this expereince.

Good Stop - Highly recommended, 2014-03-01
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, Fl (570)

We asked for an easy in-out slip because we would be coming & going working on electronics. They accommodated us & assisted us docking each time. The restaurant onsite has excellent food & you get daily coupons for $ off food. Chart House at end of dock. Dockmaster made us reservations & a gave us a discount coupon. A short walk to downtown shops & restaurants. Bathrooms old but clean. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay here again. We have a 3' draft and had no problem with the entrance.

Nice but shallow entrance, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (80)

I have a 6ft draft and I end up sliding over the mud near the entrance to the harbor, doesn't matter which side you try. WiFi will work from your boat if you have a direct line of sight to the restaurant. Heads needs upgrading

A small sheltered Marina, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Newcastle upon Tyne (533)

We moored bow in to a slip (we have no thrusters) and were helped by the dockmaster (owner?) who is a man who doesn't waste words, possibly the only person in Florida who hasn't told me to have a great day. I don't mind that. Facilities fine, restaurant on the dock popular in early evening. Railroad line nearby but out of sight, but not many trains. Not a cheap stop, but dockage is limited, so they don't need to be.

Concerns Unwarranted, 2014-01-22
Captain: , Savannah, GA (160)

Mimi & Larry, s/v Sweet Amelia 41', 5'6" draft we were a little worried reading previous comments about entrance channel, but had no problems. Only a couple of inches of tide here, followed instructions to favor the reds, and saw 8' of water all the way in except for one small spot at the dogleg entrance. Dropped to 5'1'' but quickly returned to 8', never felt a bump - we may have cut that corner a little too close. Easy fuel dock, got a slip for 3 nights and stepped right off onto the finger pier without steps. Ichabod's at the docks is fantastic - great New England Chowder. Easy walk to historic downtown antique shops & restaurants. Nice park adjacent to marina for pup. Sign pained on bench outside office directed us to trash, showers & laundry. Cable located along dock fender boards, worked fine. Deposit for key, but not charged if key returned. Helpful staff, good info packet and map. Coupon to Chart House. We got what we paid for, and more.

As marina patrons, we got excellent service, excellent facilities and good times all round. As others have noted, Phil is a gem. We didn't arrive looking for freebies, but we actually did get some - a coupon for a discount at the little restaurant, Icabods (which was very good), some effective help locating a mechanic - on Sunday, no less - and some good suggestions on finding some parts we needed.

And our water was "free" with the slip.

We understand that marinas are businesses, trying to make a living for those who work there. They aren't in business to provide free anything to those who aren't their patrons. Let's not get carried away with the transparent greed for the profits on 60 gallons of diesel, either. (If there are any profits on 60 gallons of diesel, it ain't much - probably not much more than the cost of the 100 gallons of water.

New Melbourne Harbor Marina Water rip off, 2013-12-20
Captain: , Whortonville Nc (91)

Melbourne harbor is now charging $.25 per gallon for city water to "anchor outs". It ws a $5.00 flat fee 3 weeks ago. Now $20 for 80 gallon. I used to buy fuel here before heading futher south. Never again. The guy that serviced us identified himself as the owner. he complained to me that "You anchor outs expect all thes services for free." Yes I do anchor out in Melbourne. This complaint was from the owner of a marina that does not even have one slip wide enough for a 19 foot beam cat. No T docks either. The last two years I spent a month in Melbourne visiting family. Both years I got two pump outs and water from the MHM and then filled fuel tanks before heading to the Bahamas. Both fill ups were over $300, but I guess he's only interested in fueling megayachts as my business must not matter to him. I went there because it was convenient and a nice friendly place. I find that I had only been dealing with employees before. I guess if your an owner you can be as nasty to customers as you want and still keep your job.

We just returned from a cruise to Deerfield Beach, FL. We needed 2 overnight marina stays going and returning. We stayed at Melbourne Harbor Marina 2 nights. Dock Master Capt Phil guided us in on VHF and was ready to handle lines as we docked. Our power cable didn't reach the power pedestal so he provided an additional cable. Capt Phil stayed with us until all lines (to include a spring line) were secure and all systems were operating. He returned several times during the evening to ensure that all was well with Gone Coastal. On the return trip, Capt Phil again ensured that our needs were expertly addressed. Capt Phil's attention to detail is greatly appreciated and we would return to Melbourne Harbor Marina on future trips south.

Thanks Capt Phil

Off the ICW tucked inside cove like area on Crane Creek. Bath/shower/laundry facilities were clean however the harbor water was dirty with oil/fuel slicks. Two onsite restaurants make for easy dining and walking distance to historic Melbourne with lots more restaurants and shops. 2-mile hike via sidewalks up Hickory to Publix and BOA. Worth the stopover.

Great Stop, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Lizella GA (1826)

Dock Master met boat and helped tie up. Many good eating places nearby. Virtually no tide ( a few inches) so no current and is well protected so not much wind either. Interesting shower experience, had to share women's shower due to men's shower being retiled but tiling is almost completed. I will stay there again.

Visited Melbourne Harbor in April of 2013. Been there before and was a good stop. However, present owner is not putting money back into the facility. When radioded, never mentioned staying on red side of entrance channel, which is very well marked. Waited in entrance channel for my friends to dock their boat first, as asked by dockmaster/owner. Never mentioned staying to red side. While drifting out of gear in entrance, ran hard aground. Towboat US when called, said he knew exactly the sand bar I was on since he towed many vessels off bar in past. Why didn't owner warn me? Will not go back

Another great stop over, 2013-09-04
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (162)

Just spent 2 nights at this marina exploring Melbounre, great location to explore downtown with unique shopping and restaurants. Marina offers good protection and not much of a tide change. Friendly staff - favor the red markers in and out

Follow dockmaster's instructions to enter harbor, 2013-06-17
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (268)

I like this place, and love the easy walk to town. Marina is accomodating and staff is friendly. Be sure to follow dockmaster's instructions when entering the channel as shoaling is an issue. Honor the reds but don't 'hug' them.

Needs Upgrading, 2013-06-06
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (115)

The only thing this marina has to offer is location and protection from open water. The docks and showers need maintenance and upgrading. The dockmaster is excellent at helping you dock and efficient with registration, but offers little other information unless you ask. Grocery store is 2 miles away and a cab ride is recommended. The Chart House Restaurant a few hundred feet down the dock is the primary reason for stopping at this marina, otherwise I would recommend looking for another marina.

i would like to see the marina upated but working with what they however, we found the tide to be zero as displayed. back in to promote ease of access.

we also had a wonderful experience eating at the chart house just down the dock. looking out on the i.c.w. and watching the manatees playing was a treat.
As to the staff; listen to the dockmaster- he knows his stuff!

Pretty much the same as previous review, 2013-05-17

Marina needs a refurb. Dockmaster needs a personality transplant. Wind has been out of the east, so we had 6 ft going in and out, although local told me there seems to be generally a foot more water than last season.

Loud Rowdy Drunks Ruin the Place, 2013-05-06
Captain: , Stuart (10)

The place itself is not new but it's nice enough, Dockmaster Phil was very helpful and professional while he was there. Our good time in Melbourne Harbor ended when it got dark though, because of the rowdy drunk young couple staying on a Bertram with no name on the main dock. Loud music, yelling and arguing (with each other and also with other people around the place), and general rude drunkeness from these two is all we heard, ALL NIGHT LONG. The little blonde female (I will NOT call her a lady) was actually worse than the ugly little jerk she was with, but they were both pretty bad. She has a nasty sailor's mouth. I can't belive the things I kept hearing her say (scream really). Some people should not be allowed to drink alcohol. I kept hoping one or both of them would stumble off the docks into the water, and they did come very close several times, but we weren't that lucky. Finally we decided that we couldn't take these two anymore, and so we untied our boat and left the harbor around 10:30 to anchor in the river. That's right we LEFT the harbor in the DARK, after paying to be there for the night, because we couldn't take these obnoxious annoying loud drunk people anymore. They were that bad. They looked to be long term marina residents, not transients, so I will not repeat Melbourne Harbor. Businesses should monitor their customers and facilities better than this, as in hire some security to chase away the riff raff when they've had too much to drink

Captain: , Port Charlotte, FL (694)

- No problems with depth in the channel (min was 6.5 ft, we draw 5 ft).
- Dockhand was ready to help us tie up, very nice when we arrived. Welcome pkg was ready in the office with marina and local information, today's paper, etc.
But then..
- Bathrooms were awful. Men's shower control turns on and off but does not control water temp = cold shower only.
- Wifi was not turned on. Went to Ichabod's to ask about it and they were clueless, didn't even know if the router was on, or where it was. Ended up paying for wifi from "Brightworks" so we could check weather.
- Fuel docks were out of commission, so we couldn't refuel for our next 3 days between marinas.

If you need to tie up or have a good meal at the Charthouse or the other restaurant there, go for it. Tired looking. Rusted power boxes that made us look twice before touching them, bathrooms that need major work (if you like rust....and faucets you can pull out of the wall)...well lets say we won't be going back. Charthouse was good by the way. Next time we'll dingy in.

Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We were just passing through on our way south (January 2013) and stayed only one night, but we would consider returning here for a longer visit if we had a better slip. It was an extremely tight fit for us and would have been impossible if my husband was not so familiar with maneuvering our boat. The dockmaster was helpful and guided us in and provided lots of useful information. There is a resident osprey that hangs out here who is fun to watch as he/she chases away other ospreys. We enjoyed a great meal at the Chart House on site as well.

Stopped here to take on crew that was arriving from Melbourne Airport, Ichabod's was decent for a pub 'n grub. Facilities a bit tired and seems to be mostly locals and liveaboards.
I'll try somewhere else next time.

We like the proximity to historic Melbourne to get there on foot. As mentioned in another review I too had very low depth readings in and out (lower than 5 ft) in spots around the turn in the entrance. While my slip was perfectly deep, our friend was placed at the North Wall and sucked mud docking stern in.

Other than that, dockmaster and team are very prompt and helpful - we like the Ichabods with casual food and entertainment. All in all a great place to be for us.

Harbormaster was great; rest of it just ok, 2012-05-29
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Well protected spot, but with a very shallow entrance (less than 6' mostly, some places 4.5'). The facilities are tired and in need of refurbishment, but the docks are OK. Little to no tide. Showers and laundry are poor. Phil the harbormaster was very helpful.

Dockeds at the wall, far south end of marina. Offer to help docking, staff was busy with fuel up on another boat. Two restaurants on site, others close. Clean, rooming restrooms/showers. Wi-Fi was weak, need to be close to Icabods for best reception. Nice fixed docks.

Nasty restrooms, 2012-04-24
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

The lock on the restroom needs to be replaced. Lightfixture over the men's room mirror needs to be replaced. Men's room toilet needs a new flush valve it runs and waste water every two minutes.
Shower is in very bad condition, ceiling is full of mold. Exhaut fans in shower room and restroom not working. On the bright side we had strong winds for two days and were well protected. Enjoyed several great resturants in a short walk.

If your travels take you past Melbourne, put this marina on your sure stop list. The location , just down the hill from historic Melbourne, is great. Ichabods Dockside is a great little bar/restaurant that fronts right on the marina boardwalk. Good food and drinks, great wait staff and just a fun place to hang out for a while. The marina has nearly no tide to deal with and offers all the services that you need. Plenty of service people in the area make it easy to get work done. The marina staff is professional in every way. The old man who operates the marina is very knowledgable a ready to help anyone who needs it. I've stayed there every year for the last ten years and plan to return in the future.

2012-01-09 The dockmaster was the most efficient we've experienced. He had us securely tied in no time and none of our dock lines had to be retied or adjusted. I would agree with all the good points already written, however there is no discount for MTOA, or Active Captain, or BoatUS, or being old! Be sure to check out the happy hour for drinks and hors d'oeuvres at the Chart House, an other wise nice, but very expensive restaurant.

Nice marina. Be aware of the concrete finger piers so take your time coming in. Also, watch your approach into the marina after the last three markers. It shoals to 6 ft. Once in the harbor you are good with 10 feet. Ichibod's Restaurant at the marina, very casual, but good food and service. Like your neighborhood "Cheers", with the locals.

The dockmaster was very helpful docking. Diesel was $4.34.9/gal on 5/25. We would definitely stop there again.

Captain: , Beaufort, NC (531)

Based on reviews, we stopped here for the night. Perhaps we picked the wrong time. The dockmaster was in a bad mood and offered little help, basically we dock ourselves in the slip he pointed to.

There were no discounts or cupons offered, in fact there was not even fuel available. On the plus side, the facilities were clean and the food was pretty good at the dockside Tiki bar. The entire marina looked well cared for.

We left early the next morning. As I said, perhaps we just got there on a bad day. But with other choices available, we will not be back.

Captain: , Melbourne (62)

You pay the Dockmaster $5, he gives you a coupon, you give the coupon to your server at Ichabod's Bar N Grille and she takes $5 off your bill. But to go downtown or leave the marina property it is a $20 deposit and $5 an hr. To go to The Chart House on Property it is $10 to the Dockmaster and you get a Free App. or Dessert Coupon. But all are very much worth it.

Phil the Dock Master was great help in tying up and gave us a warm welcome and a nice departure. He is the best we have seen so far on the Intercoastal and will for sure make it back due to his help. Had to take water and power off bow. Only charged us for 50 ft @ $1.75/Ft. Asst Dock Master Phil is Ex USCG very personalable and helpful. Do Not Leave Melbourne without visiting Meg O Malley's Resturant and Irish Pub. Just a short walk from Marina. Super food and drinks and reasonable. We will definitely be back to Melbourne Harbor Marina. Enjoyed our stay. Convenient to Everything Note Short Fingers are 24 ft long. We had full finger in 60 ft slip. Something always goes wrong at Melbourne Harbor. We have stayed there 4 or 5 times, but never again after the last time.

One day in October 2006, we called in the morning requesting dockage on the %u201CT%u201D for that evening. They said fine.

When we arrived they said they do not let anyone on the T docks. Put us in some one else%u2019s slip so we had to move. Then they put us in a slip too small for our boat scraping up the paint. Finally they moved us to slip for the evening.

We take our boat north from South Florida every year, but we will NEVER go back to Melbourne Harbor again.
