Reviews for Maryland Yacht Club
Worked perfect for our needs, 2016-06-24
Captain: , Blanco, TX (420)

We needed a good place to leave the boat for several family events. Nadine was extremely helpful and very pleasant to deal with making our reservations and plans. The facility was gated so very secure, protected very well from the weather as well. Would def return here for a stay.

VERY DISAPPOINTING 7.27.2015, 2015-07-27
Captain: , Texas (130)

Don't do it..tried to reach via phone no answer. vhf answered about the 10th hail. Power issues low voltage, burned up our plugs could not power A/C without blowing their breakers. Restaurant closed only open Wed - Sun, no other places close, except for Michaels Crab-it was closed too. nothing close by to see or do. Gated community but acess cards where issue aswell they ended up giving us some other guys info for any thing but the bar several miles up the road. Did offer the name of taxi but said it's expensive.."sorry Google might help"... the people were very polite as we spoke with maintenance supervisor and Jimmy but could not help. No discounts except for Baltimore Yacht Club, which we were not members of. It was advertised as much more....Will never come back.

Oldest Club on the Chesapeake, 2015-04-26
Captain: , Maryland yacht Club, Rock Creek, Maryland (60)

New improved management and an upgrade with a dynamic professional chef, have changed the atmosphere of the MYC as well as improved the facilities. Tired bathrooms redone this winter, grounds being attended to, and members and guests treated to professional customer service. Lots of social events coupled with safe wide piers make this a great stopover. The previous poster complained about the long term dockage rates which still remain the cheapest around at less than $20 a day.

Extremely well protected slips in a "hurrican hole" with protection 360 degrees and large hill blocking the slips from the wind.Blue collar club with professional staff. Large clean wide docks with 30 ft long side piers make docking and safe acccess to your boat easy. Members are freindly and have a lot of good information regarding restaurants, as well as repair individuals. Maintains reciprocity with all othe Chesapeake Yacht Clubs. Nice pool on the hill with a view of the Patapsco and a huge covered pavillion with picnic tables and BBQ pits for family get togethers. I have kept my boat here for 7 years.

Modern, well equiped club and facility, 2015-02-27
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

MYC is my home club. In 2008, I sponsored a discount program for AGLCA and MTOA members, later extended to others. I announced that discount to the cruising community, and put my name on it. The 2015 Board of Governors and club leaders are no longer making that discount program available. The club is a safe location. Local shopping access requires ground transportation. Before planning to stay in 2015, be sure to understand the current rate structure, which is nearly double the plan that I sponsored and that was in place for many years.

Welcoming Hurricane Hole Club Near Baltimore, 2013-08-20
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

This is a very protected gated facility with well maintained structures, nice pool, bathhouse and very nice club house with restaurant(albeit with limited hours ). The membership is great and welcoming. I booked a week and got a great Looper discount a real bargain if you need to get mail packages or just relax for awhile. Heck if you need a car rent one and the discount savings almost offsets the rental. Within 30mins. of
arriving I was offerred rides by two members. I see no problems with electric or docks and pilings. All are sound and servicable.I had no problem with the fairways (I'm in a 16' beam boat).
Nice Club

Nice Place To Visit With Your Club Or Group, 2013-06-27
Captain: , Annapolis Md (280)

We stayed at MYC for two days over the memorial day weekend with other members of the Back Creek Yacht Club. The club house, pool and grounds are very well kept. MYC catered two dinners for our group of 40. Both meqls were good with pllenty of good. You cannot bring your own alc0hol to events but the bar service and wine prices were quite reasonable.

The docks are reasonable but not in the best of shape. This is kind of unusual considering the rest of the facility. The views of the creek and the Patapsco are beautiful. Access to the c;ub is very easy from the river.

2013 April 29 nice visit, 2013-05-07
Captain: , greenwich cove (120)

Very nice facilities, friendly helpful folks. We enjoyed our one night stay. Lovely views from the clubhouse.

Disappointing, 2012-08-08
Captain: , Charleston, SC (422)

Great location but that's about it. Finger piers are in poor shape, pilings are weak, fairways are on the narrow side, electric receptacles are hanging loose, wires in the water. Take white rocks to port and look out for red #2...hard to see except from the east. Advertise looper discount....yeah, but gotta stay for a month to get it.

It's a cheaper place to stop, 2012-06-24
Captain: , Key Largo (5304)

stratigically worked for us headed south from Chesapeke City.
Fixed docks, pool, clubhouse was closed on a saturday for a pvt. function. Absolutly NOTHING to do, see or go to near by.
No transportaion, one trash can per dock?

Wish we could rate it higher, 2012-06-18
Captain: , Bowleys Quarters, MD (160)

We recently stayed here as transients for a few nights as part of a group of six boats. The folks who met us to identify our slip and get us situated were very welcoming. Unfortunately it took a downward turn shortly thereafter. At check in we were told they do not accept cash, only credit cards. When asked why they do not accept cash, we were told simply that it had "something to do with a former employee", not very comforting when handing him our credit card. Their only ice machine was broken and when asked if it would be back in service anytime soon the response was a simple and unconcerned "I doubt it". Dinner in their restaurant was less than inspiring; quite frankly one of the worst meals we've ever had at any yacht club which really surprised us given previous reviews. VERY dissapointing. The marina grounds and pool area were well kept however. In summary; the marina area was okay but I just cannot recommend the restaurant.

Captain: , Maryland Yacht Club, Pasadena Md (81)

We were so impressed with our stay that we joined in 2009 while doing the Great Loop. The club has all the facilitiesy you would need to leave your boat safely while cruising. After finishing the loop we became Harbor Host for the AGLCA. Looper Discount still available.

Great place to just stop or to stay awhile, 2010-10-16
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Very friendly stopover, especially for Loopers wishing to stay longer term (1 month or more). Good resturant with a relatively new (in 09/2010) chef. Good docks, but be sure to get a dock that your overall length will fit in. Some members can be picky about boats sticking out into the fairway between docks (BTW, not a bad idea for protecting your own boat from damage.)

Great Friendly YC, 2010-09-19
Captain: , Boca Raton FL (274)

The people here couldn't be friendlier. Food in the restrauant is first class at resonable prices. Great choice near BWI.

FANTASTIC!!, 2010-07-08
Captain: , Delray Beach, FL (327)

The friendliest, most gracious and accommodating bunch of folks I've seen in a long time. They took us in, treated us like family and we had a wonderful time. Beautiful grounds, pool, bar and restaurant. Very reasonable transient rates with no yacht club affiliation required. Though you'll want to join after spending time here!

Great spot for medium term docking, 2008-12-23
Captain: , Key Biscayne FL (3048)

We left the boat here for a month in 2008 as a guest of the club. Great facilities and accomodating management.
