The Fish House Grocery Store is a small but well-stocked grocery store rarely mentioned in the cruising guides but known through the locals. The name implies it is just a fish market (which is how it started out many years ago). It has larger quantities of items (e.g., gallon cans of baked beans, 10 pound tube of frozen ground beef, 10 pound bag of frozen chicken breasts) as well as more normal quantities.

It is located at the approximate location:
26.55116118/-077.04949121.

The store is part of the Skagg's Import/Export Company in the industrial area of the eastern shore. Seeing the working boats and warehouses from the water side, you would not think to dinghy into this area looking for groceries. Just pick an empty space at the docks (stay away from the industrial wharf) and walk 100 yards to the store.

Most cruisers go to Maxwells, an American sized supermarket a short walk from the public dock (which is locally known as Union Jack dock after a bar that used to be there but burned down). If you buy too much to carry back, take a taxi ($8, 2013).

Reviews for Marsh Harbour Public Dock
Nice Dock, Loitering "Boat Boys", 2013-04-10
Captain: , Vero Beach (527)

This is a good dock when the wind is not NW and strong. Loitering boat boys are there asking for money to watch your dinghy. They are not as aggressive as farther south in the Caribbean, but we have started using Tupps dinghy dock next to Mangoes instead. It's a longer walk to services, but that's life.

dinghy dock, 2012-02-26
Captain: , shoreham ny (333)

The old dinghy dock that was provided for the boating community by the Royal Marsh harbour Yacht Club was destroyed by hurricane Irene. We are happy to report that the RMHYC has built another bigger & better dinghy dock for the transient boaters to use.

Public dinghy dock alongside ferry dock, 2011-04-30
Captain: , Clearwater, Florida (141)

A small floating dock. Shoreside portion has just inches of water at low tide. If cruisers were more considerate of each other (use stern anchor and long bowline) the dock could hold a dozen dinghies, but usually is maxed out at 8. Dock is always very busy serving all the boats anchored in the harbor.

Closest dinghy dock to Maxwell's Grocery Store ($6 taxi ride each way; easy 3/4 mile walk). Call for "Any taxi near Maxwell's" on VHF 06 and 3 taxis will immediately respond.
