Reviews for Mariner's Lakefront Marina at Sawmill Creek Resort
Very Quiet Marina, 2016-07-05
Captain: , Cleveland, Ohio (130)

The harbor entrance is very hard to spot. Some cruising guides and charts list nav buoys outside the entrance. Don%u2019t look for them - there are none. Just head for the Shell sign, you'll spot the entrance when you're close. Do not enter this harbor on a rough day. There is very little margin for error. The entrance was reported to be dredged to 10%u2019 and I was pleased to find that it was. We were told the transient docks had 6-8 feet of draft. We found just deeper than 6%u2019. The docks are concrete %u2013 get out all your fenders. The bathhouse was really far from the docks and it was more reminiscent of a state park shower room than a resort marina. The resort itself, while a pretty far walk, was very nice. We had an excellent dinner in the resort at the Salmon Run restaurant. The Harbormaster, Rob Mey was very helpful and pleasant. Probably the best thing about our stay was how quiet it was. Very peaceful.

Nice Resort, terrible Marina, 2013-10-30
Captain: , Catawba Island, Ohio (610)

The entrance to the Marina is shallow and difficult to find. The cut is very narrow, I am glad that there were not any other boats trying to leave or enter while I was in the cut. The docks are fixed concrete. The bathouse is a long walk from the docks, it?s curious that it?s not more centrally located. The bathouse is not very nice, and was not cleaned the entire weekend. When there is a northerly swell, it enters the marina and rocks most of the boats. The staff is unfriendly and shockingly unknowledgable. No one answered my radio calls. I called on my cell phone to ask whether I had a Port or Starboard tie if I stern in to the slip. The person thought I was speaking Klingon. They had no idea what is Port, Starboard or Stern. It?s not shocking to me why this Marina was so empty.

The resort is very nice, although it is a VERY long walk from the Marina, over 1/2 mile. The hotel rooms are really nice, with an excellent restaurant/bar and a very nice indoor swimming pool. I attended a business conference and a wedding at the resort, the food and reception facilities were very nice. It?s a shame the marina is such a let down.
