Reviews for Marine Max Yacht Service
not friendly or helpful, 2017-06-16

in the area and needed to dock for 20 minuts to run to the very convenient ace hardware... they wouldn't accomodate us in a 25' boat. Too bad, we weren't a customer before and now due to the folks i spoke too, we definetly won't ever be in the future. take your business elsewhere.

Extensive running gear work, 2015-07-29
Captain: , St Petersburg FL (20)

We brought Charisma in for a routine bottom job only to learn that it had been over zinked by the previous owner and an extensive refurbishment of all running gear was going to be needed before the boat could be safely relaunched.

We immediately realized that a $3,000 bottom job was going to become a $35,000 running gear replacement, as one problem led to another. And as a result my level of skepticism ramped up greatly as the solution to one problem led to new problems

But the MarineMax service manager, Jeff Sanders and Wes the technician would proactively take pictures and provide an estimate and offer alternative solutions. As a result my skepticism would be overcome and jointly we developed a plan that fit within our budget and time frame.

As the projects progressed I recieved a regular e mail complete with photos detailing the daily activities. New shafts, bearings, seals, through hulls and seacocks - an extensive and expensive project. Never once did I feel that I was being upcharged or having unnecessary work addressed.

As a result I now have a detailed record of each and every step that was completed and the confidence the work met the highest AYBC standards. Furhter I have the confidence that a national service organization stands behind the work.

I would highly recommend MarineMax of Gulfport and the staff that serves its customers

Large Sailboat Short Hauled on Short Notice, 2013-02-09
Captain: , St Petersburg (120)

I know MarineMax is most predominantly considered for powerboat sales and service. I had an urgent situation with a parted centerboard pennant on our 42' sailboat that needed a short haul on their travel lift on a quick time schedule. We also had to work around the tides as I now had a boat with the centerboard stuck in the down position with a draft of over 8'. The yard manager was very accomodating. Their costs for the haulout were quite reasonable. Got the job done. I was impressed with the yards capabilities.

Old and worn out marina, 2007-01-20
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (35)

This marina was purchased by the 800 pound gorilla Brunswick/MarineMax about a year ago. The docks and pilings are old and tired...a few pilings were replaced after the purchase but nothing else obvious has been done. This would be an excellent hurricane hole if the supporting structures were up to par.
