Reviews for Marina do Porto Santo
Nice but remote, 2017-04-03
Captain: , Kopstadso (40)

+ super nice, looong beach
+ friendliest people ever
+ interesting pricing. Per day it is quite expensive; 48 Euro for our 48 ft monohull, but if you pay for a month, it's only 152 Wuro, so if you stay for more than four days, you already gained on paying the monthly rate!
+ really nice showers with as much hot water you want, and good pressure too.
+ FREE laundry room with one washing machine and one tumble dryer. (When we used them, the lady in the office took out our clothes from the machine, dried them and folded them for us while we were away!!!! "Why not help, if I can?" she said. ?
+ You can anchor inside the marina for 6,50 Euros per day and use all the services.
- The nearby town (10-15 mins walk along the beautiful beach) is quite sleepy. Not much there (but a decent Pingo Doce supermarket, which is a plus of course,).
+ Couldn't have our camping gaz bottle refilled or exchanged. Or, we could, but would have had to wait a week.
- There is quite a surge in the marina, especially after a storm, and when the wind is strong from the northeast, it's quite gusty even in the anchorage and the boats in the berths are moving around a bit. Nothing serious though.
- The space for heavier and bigger, 45+ ft oats is very limited. The finger pontoons are rather short and weak.

Secure anchorage inside harbour walls, 2017-03-27
Captain: , Monreal (2871)

anchored in 4.5 meters with very good holding and no swell was able to work its way in.

Very dry area with evidence of lots of terracing used for farms in the past.

Nive hiking trails

You CAN anchor here, 2014-10-09
Captain: , St Marys City (105)

Nice harbor, seawall has many paintings from boats passing through. Some surge, but not bad. 5-6 boats were anchored outside the harbor in about 15' along the beach and seemed to ride reasonably well. Watch for ferry which arrives mid-morning and leaves at 1800. Not much at the marina itself, just one snack bar. Great internet though. Easy walk to town, Pingo Doce and many restraunts to choose from.

nice people and nice island, 2013-09-11

Its possible to anchor in the harbour behinde the wavebraker if its full in the marina. Long beach of 9km and friendly people.

Fell in love with Port Santo, 2013-05-20
Captain: , Westport, Ireland (511)

Charming European island of Portuguese heritage. Most magnificent beach that stretches for miles. Sweet village with church and home of Christopher Columbus. Was a Nato port hence the great marina/ harbour. When the airport came to Madeira, Porto Santo drifted into the background and became a wonderfully quiet community accessible by boat from Madeira. The amenities are in town which is a decent hike from the marina. Bikes are very useful here. There is a hardware store, supermarket, restaurants, and an internet hub.
