Reviews for Marina Seaport IJmuiden
Very high price poor service., 2014-05-02
Captain: , New York (106)

If at all possible I would avoid this marina. Not only is the price unreasonably high but Wi-Fi is not included and is a very significant additional charge and even with that is of poor quality. However walk 10 minutes down the road and go into a bar and get free first-class Wi-Fi. When we were there in October they had closed the men's toilets and left a sign on the door telling people to use the women's toilets. The women's showers were closed and again assigned left on the door told people to use the men's showers. Everything about this marina left us with a bad taste. Completely unlike all other marinas we experienced in the Netherlands. This marina is also a significant distance from town but there is bus transportation available.

Mixed blessing, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Harlingen, Netherlands (83)

The IJmuiden Seaport Marina is in an excellent entry point for visitors that want to explore the Northern half of the Netherlands, and in particular want to go to Amsterdam or the IJsselmeer, or those who are hopping along the coast. Entrance is 24/7 as you do not need to pass any locks.

The marina has good facilities, but is one of the most expensive on the Dutch coast. There are good showers and facilities. A number of restaurants are located on the harbour front. Directly across the dunes you will find many more restaurants directly facing a huge sandy beach. Great for a day out with the kids.

On the downside:

- The city itself is quite far away
- Atmosphere is completely lacking any character as the marina is usually just half full, and surrounded by modern developments (hotel and apartments)
- Westerly winds will bring a lot of sand
- Northerly winds will bring a lot of soot from the steel works to the N.
