Reviews for Marina Palmira
Very Nice Marina, 2017-02-03
Captain: , Meridian (12)

The staff here is friendly and helpful, and the marina is very clean. It's about a 1/2 hour walk into La Paz along the Malacon, and there is a free shuttle a few times a day that drops you off in town, but not back, so be aware of that.

Wifi in the cruisers' lounge is good, but it's spotty out on the docks. The cruisers' lounge is nice. There is a nice restaurant and bar onsite, and a marina store with some basic boat goods and really basic food and drink items.

This could be a great marina if they just cleaned the bathrooms., 2016-07-30

f Marina Palmira. We have had our boat in a slip here since January 2016 and it is now the end of July 2016. Victor is the manager of the marina.

I will start out with the good points. The marina is well protected from the La Paz bay. The docks are in reasonable good condition. People don't start working before 8am and end around 5pm. The office staff is helpful as far as they can. This appears to be limited by the management. The wifi is marginal and not capable of streaming movies or Skype calls. Dock water is not potable but there is bottled water in the tienda.

Now for the bad stuff. The bathrooms are horrible. They could be totally fixed by cleaning them at least once a day completely. That is scrubbing the showers top to bottom, walls, floor bench. The toilets are filthy also. They are maybe cleaned on a weekly basis sometimes. I complained about them as there was human thesis on the bottom of the seat, a 2 inch glob, and I just couldn't stand it. The office staff said they would get them cleaned and in fact someone %u201Ccleaned%u201D them leaving the glob on the bottom of the seat. Very superficial cleaning.

Speaking of benches I complained to Victor, the manager, about how dirty the showers were and he said that he would take care of it. What was done is the benches were removed and now going on 4 days they have not returned.

While the bathrooms are totally ignored the marina staff have scrubbed top to bottom and painted the fountain out in front. The pool is cleaned every day without fail. The walks are swept daily and the trees are trimmed all the time.

Very good hurricane hole, 2013-06-30

Marina has a newer breakwater that looks high enough to withstand a Cat 1 (which is the highest ever to hit La Paz). Marina is clean; docks well-maintained; staff very pleasant; prices competitive. Bathrooms dirty and showers poorly designed. In summer heat, this is the marina to be in for it's openess to the breezes and protection from surging.

Excellent marina, 2012-11-27

Helpful friendly staff, good water, good power, clean docks, garbage on dock, restaurants nearby (ok), and very pleasant bike ride into town.

Nice marina, friendly staff, 2012-04-16
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

We find the marina staff very friendly and helpful. The docks are well maintained and power and water are good. WiFi is quite good.

The pool at the hotel is delightful. It's a bit of a haul to downtown, but it's very doable in a dinghy. Also, there are 3 shuttles to downtown per day. A taxi back is about $50 pesos.

The Panga restautant wasn't memorable.

Moorings boat, 2011-05-17
Captain: , Jersey City (506)

Rented a boat from the Moorings in January 2008. Great experience. Marina was clean and well run. Got most of our groceries in town and just topped off on a few extras from the marina.

New Ownership has improved their services, 2010-05-29
Captain: , Redwood City, CA (63)

Helpful staff with good english, docks, while aged, are fully functional, just re-enstated bug spraying, decent diesel prices, pump out services, pretty good Tienda with needed boat supplies, 1 mile walk or better yet bike ride on the Malecon to town, reasonable rates
