Reviews for Marina Lajes das Flores
Marina not shown on Garmin chart...., 2015-06-30

Small but secure marina has been constructed by extending the western quay wall of the harbor to the North. Pass between the rock shore on the north and the extension and make a hard left. You then pass another pier on your right and enter the inner marina. Lots of medium (40ft) floating docks to starboard as well as larger floating docks to port that can take a 50+ cat. Space may be a premium, anchoring in the outer harbor and doing a scouting trip would be a good idea for a bigger boat. Locals are very friendly. Free WiFi in the harbor and faster WiFi at Biera Mar restaurant up the hill. Owners Olena and Anatolie Leonti (leontiav@hotmail.com, 913-943-539)are super helpful and speak excellent English. They can arrange car hire, diesel delivery and anything else you need. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. We were informed that the Customs/immigration will locate you but we found them, eventually, in the lower level of the municipal building (just behind the ATM machine). Check in was low key and free. The main town is behind the prominent

church on the hill over the harbor. Do not miss Flores, lovely island. p.s. In Horta we discovered the Flores isn't a port of entry, you have to redo the check in again, but it was painless. It seems that you have to check in/out of each island.

wonderful stop over, 2013-07-19

The slips are for medium and small boat but the ambiance, the atmosphere and the beauty of the surrounding are extraordinary.
The dock master is very helpful and will pack the marina to extreme capacity if needed!
The island is amazing and you can get all the necessary for your second leg if you are on a Transat voyage.

Great stop on your way through the Azores, 2012-07-07

Flores should not be missed! Spetacular scenery, friendly people, great roads and adequate provisioning and supplies. The marina itself is very nice. With the small size compared to Horta, cruisers seem to get to know each other.
