Additional info:

Tricky. Do not count on the buoys, cross the sandbar when aligned with the east edge of the Island where the distant bridge intersects the island. Caution: 4.5 feet on the sandbar in low tide. There are some other markers on the east side of the channel. Approach only in high tide. Follow local charter fishing or sail boat in, if possible. Go towards the bridge, the marina on the west just before the bridge, not visible until right there. Stay to the starboard side of the marina by the fuel dock to avoid the sandbar from the south. Update September 2015.

Reviews for Marina Guillermo
worth a visit, good staging for Exumas., 2017-05-14

Much better and bigger marina than we were expecting . Can hold 10-15 boats. Diesel , water and 30/50amp power available .we check out of Cuba and headed for Green Cay/Staniel Cay in Exumas from here.
Not a bad trip from here to Staniel Cay. The Navionics charts were good for this passage. Once in Exumas Navionics charts are terrible and garmin are good.
Beautiful beaches to explore near Marina. 5$/day hop on hop off bus will take you to Guillermo resorts. Best resort is closest to Marina about a 1/2 Mile walk. Can buy good internet/wifi for $1.50/1hr at resort but not at Marina. Bar near marina will sell cases of Cuban beer for 24/case. Can use pool at fancy resort for a fee. Pool at bar right next to restaurant.
Entrance from offshore was straight forward but required visual piloting. The charter boats come out at 9am and you can watch their path. They turn north at a large round fender moored in the water. From the bumper on in is a well defined 6-8 ft channel.
There is a bar at the entrance to marina, cross in middle. Was 3-6 ft at bar. Marina was 6-10 ft. Marina let us stay for a partial day for $20 with electric to wait while we toured the island and got ready for our overnight passage to pigeon Cay south of Andros.
The Navionics charts were very accurate for this passage regarding shoaling and coral heads. The only heads we saw that were within 6 ft of surface we near the days south of Andros. Could be seen easily in daylight. Would do the trip by night again just not the last 20 miles at night.
The entrance described on A/C is not entirely accurate. We had a 3 ft draft and got in ok but deeper drafts would need to be careful. Hazards are mostly sand although there are reefs near the drop offs, they were accurately marker on charts.

Sept 2015 visit, 2015-09-12

Very friendly staff, officials, and also the other "Local" Boat Capts who run the sailboats and fishing boats for Tourist from hotels. Marina Mgs fluent English and can arrange car/driver or get to local Hotels to rent Cars (no savings as cars avg $120 a day to rent). Med-Moor docks, no pilings, back down to seawalls with bumpers. This is a tourist zone, lots of hotels, no dinghy use allowed, so very limited on what you can do on water, and the Hotels are generally "all inclusive" so you end up buying day or night passes for access, and then only to the "buffets" as the more private restaurants are for hotel guest reservations usually. We did one day get approval to use dinghy for back water area (mangrove islands behind Marina) and found a nice little bar/restaurant tucked away in them with nice ownership.

Not much room here. Med Moor for 3 or 4 monos. courtious Gaurda Frontiera and staff. Meteres water and power. Walk down the beach at low tide to the hotels. Look for my route to get thru the reef and channel
