Reviews for Marina El Cid
Best place to resupply, 2017-03-14

The marina is part of a resort time share set up,Its clean and convienient. There is a charge fo wifi but cable tv is free with about 12 to 15 stations in english mostly from New York. This is the place to buy your Mexican treasures it is the cheepest and the bargining is fair. I was supprised to find as i went further south everything got more expensive for the same treasure.the bus system is great the food is great location is greate.

Nice place to kick back, 2017-01-09

Jan '16 update - We returned here for a 2 month stay, waiting to transport our boat from Mazatlan to Florida. No change to our previous experience. Super accomodating staff, well managed marina, overall great facility. The most comfortable long term stay we've had in Mexico. Provisioning is an easy bus ride to ($10 MXP)/pulmonia back ($80 MXP) from WalMart. In fact $10 pesos is the standard bus fare to any place in the city. Great public market in the Zona Centro.

We spent two weeks here after crossing from Baja (4/15 - 4/29/15). Just about all the ammenities and services you could want. Very accommodating staff. Similar to all other Mexican marinas we've visited, wifi is very iffy. We'd wind up having to go into either the hotel, or outside the marina office to get consistant connectivity.
Unique to Mazatlan are the pulmonias (open air mini-cabs). A great way to see the sights and get around.
Provisioning requires either a cab or bus ride, but the fares are reasonable.
As noted in the earlier reviews, there is a noticable surge because of the proximity to the breakwater. Because of the incessant shoaling, a dredge works the harbor entrance daily. If you're uncertain, contact the marina office.

This is a great marina with good set of pools to stay cool ...excellent staff willing to accommodate your every need we highly recommend this as a stopover.

Very upscale facility, 2016-05-11

Marina El Cid is a very nice "resort" environment - excellent security and lots of services, pools, etc. The only negative is the surge, which can test your lines and fenders.

Mazatlan Early July 2015, 2015-08-16

We pulled into El Cid thing of going to Isla Mazatlan, but we were tiired from the run from topolobampo and it was near the fueld dock so we just took the first slip they offered us. After spendng a week here we were glad we did. El Cid has more swell but nicer facilities. They have hotel facilities that you can use but we did not take much advantage of them. The Swell was irritating and I could never get the boat quite tied down enough to keep it from moving but other than that docks are in good shape, good power, WIFI , Potabale water. Unfortunately we had to use the hospital for an illness and I found Marina Hospital and the doctor at the marina to be excellent and quite affordable. Would give El Cid 5 stars except for the swell , but from what I saw of Paradise Isle I would prefer El Cid being a power boat with a wife who likes the air on at night and having kids who really like the wifi. I thought the price was very reasonable. Although it was hurricane season and if a big blow was coming through I would have moved for the better protection.

Very nice marina..., 2015-02-22

Very nice marina... wifi available for a charge, but at least it's available in the slip. Water is potable and free...

Wonderful Marina, 2012-12-29

Very beautiful marina with amazing iguana population, pelicans, coconuts, and most of all the people.

Excellent marina, 2012-12-20
Captain: , Kirkland, WA (4478)

El Cid has everything you might need for a wonderful stay in Mazatlan. Staff are wonderful and helpful. Good location with a noticable surge but not a problem. Watch the current when entering/leaving, it can be rather strong. We stayed a week and enjoyed the stay. Bus ("Sabalo-Centro" green bus) stops just outside the marina and for $10 pesos will take you into Mazatlan central area. Mega Foods and Sams Club are taxi or bus ride away. Restaurants and laundry service withing walking distance.

Helpful Staff, good pricing on Diesel, local grocery within walking distance, but take a cab back for 50 Pesos. Also accross from the Market is a Small but well stocked Marine Supply Store that carries many West Marine Branded products. Nice Pool and outdoor Bar. Only negative is the food in the restaurant is not very good.

Great people, 2012-09-19
Captain: , Edmonton (150)

Narrow entrance, sometimes breaking waves and at times a lot of surge in the marina. The resort is very nice and the staff, especially Gladys, go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Bus ride into shopping but you can take the free shuttle to Il Morro which is in the middle of the Zona Dorado. The only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is the surge which can be a problem at times.

Depths in Marina & Channel are less than 9 feet, due to poor dredging practices. Once commited to entering the channel there is almost no ability to bail out. Expensive marina, indifferent WiFi but staff are helpfull

Long Term Moorage, 2011-08-03
Captain: , Mazatlan (30)

El Cid is a 5-star resort in Mazatlan and the only moorage with purified water. As a long-term resident (6 years) I can attest to the quality, safety, and price of the moorage. 2 swimming pools, hot tub, free cable tv, free internet, laundry services, clean facilities are just some of the benefits. You can even have room service to your boat! Also, the bellmen in the lobby will take any luggage, groceries, etc. to your boat. Highly recommend. Capitan George

You must enter a channel that is a bit treacherous. No turning around until you've gone all the way back. El Cid is on the right (South) as you come in. Beautiful marina with first rate facilities. Willing to help with paper work if necessary.
Watch out for night visitors on all Mexican docks (la cucharacha) and the dock water may not be potable.
