Reviews for Marina Del Mar Resort and Marina
Great spot, being in town, 2017-03-20
Captain: , Camden, Maine (110)

Dockage, pool, dive stores, restaurants and more all right near your slip. Its hard to beat. We only stayed for one night, but I can easily see ending up here for much longer. Its busy though, so plan ahead.

Great stop, 2016-01-04
Captain: , Newport, RI (360)

No need to go any further south! Great setting most slips are shaded by palm trees - as noted, Brian is one of the best dockmasters in FLA - the entrance chanel/corner are not a big deal - all of the charter captains are friendly and have the system down....we will return to this great place.

Came for a week and stayed four months, 2015-12-19
Captain: , Charleston, SC (158)

We pulled into Marina Del Mar for a week to explore Key Largo and ended up enjoying our stay well enough to stay for almost four months. No current, protected from wind for the most part, multiple restaurants within walking distance and multiple amenities make this a great stop. Dockmaster Brian was great, friendly, polite and always helpful. Good idea to call ahead to make verify times that fishing, dive and tourist boats are transitting the somewhat narrow canal and definitely securite hailings at crash corner. We would return when passing by again.

Come Backer, 2015-04-04
Captain: , Chicago (11)

Key Largo is a great place to visit and Marina Del Mar is a great place to stay while there... Restaurant is now open and very nice atmosphere... Dockmaster Brian as noted in other reviews was very helpful... Pay attentrion to unique entrance at Crash Corner... Blind corner with lots of commercial tour boats (fishing/diving)... they are cautious as well but be aware...

The beginning of the Keys, 2015-01-03
Captain: , Deerfield Beach, Florida (150)

We had a good three night stay. Dockmaster Bryan was pleasant. The concrete dock is deep to the seawall and the narrow wooden finger walkway was sturdy. It's a reach to the finger pier at low tide. Water and 30 Amp service was fine. Stern-to slips have a 12 ft. max beam. The clean keyed bathrooms and showers are in the back of the laundry room. The pool is nice. The on-premises restaurant is still under construction. You have access to the Holiday Inn pools, restaurant and Tiki bar. Sharkiys pub and Grill is not too far a walk just go East down the seawall. For a treat walk to the Key Largo Conch House which is a half a mile North on US 1. Time your exit and entry in the narrow canal to miss the professional dive and glass bottom boats. Fees Dec 2014: $3 per ft. plus a $9 day facility service fee.

Not the best, 2014-10-26
Captain: , Marco Island (242)

Overpriced for what you get $3.00/ft. Dock master very good
Watch your boat on docking with exposed finger piers. No restaurant at this time. If you are on the starboard side of the marina it is a long walk to Sharkeys.

Poor Experience 10-5-154, 2014-10-07
Captain: , Boca Raton, Fl (94)

Arrived at 1700, Dock Personnel very rude. Stood on the other side of the channel and pointed to our slip, wouldn't make the trip around to catch lines or assist in any way. Lazy. Three Power Pedestals were inop, again, no help. Concrete wall pier, security nil. $3.75/ft. Luckily, good food, beer and music a short walk away at Sharky's.

Very nice marina in a great setting, 2014-07-24
Captain: , Houston (110)

We stayed here 2 nights, one each on the way down and back from Miami to Key West. The marina is very nice with access to bathrooms and pool at the Marriot that also has coffee and breakfast in the lobby. The entrance to the Largo canals where Marina Del Mar is located is quite busy with private and commercial traffic. You will want to listen for securite calls when you are approaching the canals entrance as well as "crash corner". As you are approaching you should send out a securite of your own letting other boaters know that you are approaching and whether you are inbound or outbound.

Fantastic Marina, 2014-03-10
Captain: , LBI, NJ (42)

I have not been to the Ocean Reef club, but I am very glad I stayed at Marina Del Mar. The Marina is very well kept, beautifuly set on the Port Largo Canal, all of the slips are very deep, mine has 15 feet at low tide. It is very well protected for exteded stays, we had Manatees swimming right up to the boat. If you are saying at the Marina, it does come with contionental breakfast everyday. YOu can also take a snorkeling, scuba or fishing excursion right from the dock. Sharky's bar and grill are less than 300 yards away.

Nice place to stay, 2013-08-12
Captain: , Scituate, MA (195)

We arrived late in our Moorings 37' sailing cat but Candy, the marina manager, told us all about how we would come into a narrow channel that had a sharp left turn called "Crash Corner" where you had to let other boats know when you were coming in or going out. It was wide enough to do a 180 and pull along side a concrete wall where we tied up. The Marriott Motel had clean restrooms and a nice pool and jacuzzi which were included in the price. A continental breakfast is included but stops at 0930. Candy gave us lots of good advice for our trip down south including a stop at Molassas Reef where we dived for an hour.

Great marina in a great location, 2013-07-14
Captain: , boca raton (94)

Stayed here recently for a couple of nights. Bill the dockmaster was helpful with navigational advice and with docking. We were docked behind the Marriott so we used their facilities. Bathrooms/showers were kept immaculate along with the surrounding areas. Pool was nice but Holiday Inn pools were even nicer. There is a lot of commercial traffic but no problem if you monitor the vhf for traffic alerts. Breakfast was adequate and we had a car for trips to nearby restaurants. There are some fast food places (Wendy's, Subway, etc.) across the street. Also, the marina is conveniently located to some great diving.
Would definitely recommend this marina especially if you want a marina with pools.

A vacation from our vacation, 2013-03-01
Captain: , Racine (121)

The resort amenities allowed us to rationalize the $3/ft charge for the slip.

We enjoyed our stay and will certainly return to this spot.

The hotel restaurant is closed and made for very quite evenings.

Nice marina - Nice people, 2012-07-17
Captain: , Port Orange, FL (95)

Stayed along the wall here and really enjoyed it. Candi the dockmaster guided us in on our mobile since it was our first time here. She was waiting for us at our slip and helped to make our lines fast. After that she gave us a tour of the facilities (laundry, showers, pool etc). You hear some music from a couple of bars close by, but I actually enjoy that. It's live music and is not terribly loud so once you are in the boat you barely hear it. There is a good amount of traffic going by you during the day, but at night in quiets down a lot. Don't be surprised if you hear a steam whistle and see the original "African Queen" go by you. Lots of activities near by.

Enjoyed our stay, 2012-06-12
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (260)

Nice place for a stop over. Resort offers marina guests access to all facilties... laundry, pool with towel service, and continental breakfast. Many restuarant choices within walking distance.

Great stop on the way to Bimini From Cape Coral, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

We have stayed here numerous times. Candy has always been very helpful and almost always was able to get us a slip. The pools are awesome. The restaurant is ok.

Great Place, 2011-08-04
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

We originally were set for two nights, but stayed another one. As said earlier there are pools, restaurants, bars, free coffee, marginal free continental breakfast and other attractions nearby. No real food market within walking range, but Walgreens and CVS will have a lot of what you may need. Friendly staff, both Candi and other dockmaster super helpful. We will be back. Watch out for opposing traffic at entrance to canal and at "collission corner." Staff will recommend radio calls for you if you are new.

Beautiful place, 2011-04-26
Captain: , Greenville TX (580)

Wonderful marina - staying gives you full access to everything at the three hotels of the resort - pools, saunas, nice restaurants. The marina is active. The dockmaster (Candi) is superb. We'd come here again. Only negative is no close by grocery stores - 5 mile cab ride needed.

Marina Del Mar, 2011-03-24
Captain: , Altamonte Springs, Fl (140)

I have stayed there many times in the past. We are divers and there is Ocean Divers on premisis, a real class act. There is gas and diesel available, and two restaurants, pool. hot tub, and ice machines in the hotel. Thers a lounge for the boaters with washers dryers, and showers.
The ramp, however, does not work well with a float on trailer at low tide.
Docks are not floating, but easy to tie up to.
Never had a "bad" stay there.

REally really expensive!, 2010-01-12
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Close to resturants, and bars, 2 miles to groceries.
actually located farther in the cannal than indicated.

A MARINA THAT CARES !, 2007-07-30
Captain: , Clearwater, Fl (6)

We came in with a 36' sailboat with no problem. Candy, the dockmaster cares. The bathrooms are clean and the people so nice. A pleasure to stay there.

Crash Corners, 2007-02-21
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2311)

The Good: The best full service marina open to transients between here and Miami, great base from which to run day trips to numerous snorkling locations, good resturaunts nearby and on premis.

The Bad: Very crowded facility, boats are on top of each other and require much better than beginner docking skills. I found it a bit challenging with a 45 foot Catamaran, can't imagine doing this in a monohull. East of this location is "crash corners" at the corner that turns to the south, locals will warn you to announce your arrival there in advanced on VHF16 "Attention all vessels in Key Largo Marina, this is (boat name) a 39 foot sailboat outbound approaching Crash Corners"
