Reviews for Marina Chahue in Bahias de Huatulco
Standard stop when passing by, 2017-03-23
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (605)

This is my standard stop when passing along the coast here for years. I really like the town, it is inexpensive and a fun place to visit. The main grocery store just had a major upgrade and is huge, much like a Walmart. The marina staff is outstanding and very helpful especially Ezequiel the Harbor Master/Marina manger. The fuel dock is easy to access and deep and I found the fuel prices here cheaper then PV. There is a bit of surge at times and the marina could use some maintenance however. According to Ezequiel they have the materials for the upgrade/repairs but need the money from the government for the labor since it is a government run marina. This will continue to be my regular stop on deliveries.

Marina was a very nice stop. Fuel dock is up and running with easy access. Rates were reasonable. We didn't stay long because we were headed south and we had a good weather window. The Marina does have some surge but was not a problem.

Marina Chahue at Huatulco.

We stopped there to re-fuel and took a cab into town to fill our jerry cans. The marina has all the fuel equipment installed but it is not operational yet. You are not allowed to fill your tank in the marina and any spill will get you a 500 pesos fine. Word is that you still pay the fine even if you don't spill.
The marina is clean and well protected, security is high. It is a good stop to re-provision. There is a tienda to the west of the marina within walking distance but if you take a cab to get your diesel there is a large supermarket (Super Che) on your way onto town.
If you just need diesel we suggest to go straight to the fuel dock in town. That way you avoid any penalty. The Port Captain is in town, opposite of the fuel dock. You can go there to receive that day's weather, only after 10.30am though.
We wanted to cross the Tehuantepec that same day so, unfortunately we didn't have any time to spend in town.

Nice marina, wonderful town, 2013-05-23
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

The marina is reasonably well maintained and has excellent security. It's a 1+ mile walk into town, but taxis are only $25 pesos each way. Our biggest gripe was that the bathrooms regularly didn't have toilet paper. The water was potable.

We ate at the Viena restuarant in Tangolunda 2 times and had excellent meals. Highly recommended.

We can also recommend the day long tour at Hagia Sofia botanical gardens. Contact them directly through their web site to arrange transport as the owner lives nearby.

Good shopping in the downtown. The Super Che grocery store is nearby and is well stocked.

Good marina, small amount of surge, worse at docks inline with entrance, try and get to the back row.
The small town is clean and interesting to visit. Ther is a Mayan site about 20 kms away that is worth a visit. Make sure you visit the Vienna Cafe in the next bay it is a good restaraunt.

Marina Chahue 2011, 2011-08-19
Captain: , Seattle, Washington (285)

Clean and great security. Surge makes tying without excess wear and tear difficult. Entering or leaving Mexico from here is difficult without some Spanish. Immigration, Customs & Agriculture will come to the boat but need to go to port captain and no English there. Marina office on short hours and no response on 16 when closed.

Excellent stop for transient boats, 2011-06-08
Captain: , San Francisco (409)

Very clean marina with helpful friendly staff and excellent 24 hr security. The town of Huatulco is nice, pleasant, clean with friendly people - our favorite stop in Mexico.

Marina Chahue at Huatulco (2005), 2007-08-31
Captain: , New Port Richey, Fl (231)

A very pleasant and well kept marina. Depth is good. Entrance might be a little tricky to see. Call Enrique on vhf 16 and he'll give you directions. Visiting in Huatulco is well worth the effort. A charming little village with an interesting blend of modern and traditonal. At the Southern edge of the town is a small air conditoned mall. More in the center of town is a beautiful little park with the village surrounding it. If you're lucky enough to be there during festivities there is music everywhere and it is wonderful. If not there is a cantina at the Northeastern side of the park where a marimba is played in the evening.
