Reviews for Marathon Marina and Resort
Happy Days Restaurant :-(, 2016-06-26
Captain: , Stuart, FL (40)

First time ever - front desk was helpful

Nice staff and reasonably easy in and out; NO Diesel; underestand dockage fees!, 2016-06-12
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

Some skinny water coming in, but well marked. Great staff and harbor hosts. Nice docks, pool. Careful with the dockage fees: Say $3.00/foot, but with $25/day utility fee, 3.5% submerged land fee (whatever that is?!) and 7.5 % sales tax, per foot per day cost for my 55 ft boat was actually $3.81. Oh, and elsewhere on Active Captain it says they have diesel fuel; they do not.

marathon Marina, 2016-06-12
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

Stayed one night. Upon arrival the office has harbor hosts help with docking which was helpful. Be aware the charge for a 50 foot boat was $195 for the night. They added tax, power and a Fl lease payment for the marina like a restaurant passing through a portion of their rent on your check. Only seen one other do this, Crows Nest in Venice, Fl. Only a 10 by 10 grass spot for dogs in this RV and working boat yard. Restaurant was very good. Clean heads and laundry. Captains lounge looked nice. Docks are concrete and old. They are replacing an entire dock with floating docks but the construction noise was awful. Hug first two green markers as shoaling on red. Pass this one up for Faro Blanco much better value for a transient.

Surprised by Current, 2016-06-10
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (111)

We've been here before & like it, but in mid-May 2016 we were assigned a slip on the outside / west dock -- and arriving at low tide with the current ripping in from the bay side was a bad idea (my fault). It was too much for our single screw Nordhavn 47, so we backed out of there and headed for an anchorage. There was construction in progress on the docks inside the basin where I'm guessing current issues would have been less, and that limited slip availability.

Old Florida at South Beach prices, 2016-05-29
Captain: , Tampa (93)

All in, after fees and extras, I paid right at $4.00 / ft for a transient slip. OLD marina in a semi-industrial setting, reminds me of when I was last in the area (1978). No wifi is also a problem for us. Resort is quite a stretch.... I think $1.25 / ft would be about right given the state of facilities.

Lots of live aboards, so obviously the long term rates must be more reasonable. People in their boats were very friendly and welcoming.

We Love This Place, 2016-05-06
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach (31)

Great people. Great docks. Great service. Clean restrooms and showers. Captains lounge, titi huts with shade and tables, walk-in pool. Good restaurant with happy hour and events.

I'm trying to figure out how to live here.

Highly recommended.

Simply the Best, 2016-04-13
Captain: , Marathon, FL (10)

We couldn't wait to get a slip in this marina and we are SO glad that we did! This marina is so well kept...clean and there is attention to detail everywhere you look. The pool is absolutely awesome and with Lazy Days right on the premises that has a great happy hour, it sure helps after a stressful day. Judy, the manager and Caroline, Jules, Rosie and Ryan are absolutely so helpful and friendly. I see them treat everyone here so kindly and they are always willing to help and to make your stay wonderful. By far, this is the best marina I've ever stayed. Well done Marathon Marina! We don't ever want to leave!

Good Necessary Stop, 2016-03-31
Captain: , Houston (130)

From the Dockmasters office to the Fuel Dock staff everyone was very helpful and hospitable. The restaurant was the perfect atmosphere with a great bar and drinks. The pool was nice and the showers were clean. Changing out the docks this summer to floating and hopefully adding some grass for puppies would make it perfect

Overpriced, 2016-03-28
Captain: , Grosse Pointe Michigan (51)

The rates shown in Active Captain as of 3/2016 as $3/ft are wrong.
We were charged $3.50/ft. Plus utilities are charged extra, not included. We were charged $30. We used no water, and by comparison, many days at Galleon Resort in Key West on a meter, cost us about $3. Then on top of that were some Florida taxes. All inclusive was closer to $5/ft.

The pool looked nice, but small, and we arrived too late to use. The restaurant prices were relatively high.

For all of that, no one came to help us with our lines (the office attendant just said she had "asked" someone to help and didn't seem surprised no one showed up.

The Perfect Place at the Keys, 2016-02-17
Captain: , Springfield, VA (130)

Do not pass this Marina up. Clean and well kept, this is one of the top marinas on the east coast.
You get full length finger piers, pump outs at your slip, trash and recycling close by, dock carts plentiful, beautiful pool, camera security, excellent restaurant and bar on premises, latest movies shown at outdoor theater, very pet friendly, secure parking, haul out and competitive fuel prices. However, the best part is the staff and management. You will recognize immediately that this Marina is well-operated with attention to detail.
Judy Carey is an outstanding manager and the staff, Caroline and Jules, are the best. These people treat the Marina/resort guests with respect and kindness, all pointing back to the leadership.
You will love this Marina...don't pass it up!

Nice place to stay, 2016-02-01
Captain: , Liberty landing marina (60)

I needed a relatively deep water port for a couple of months and this fit the bill. Judy, Jules etc al. were helpful and cooperative, even kind. There iis a yard, nice clean facilities as well as an active friendly clientele.

Unlike most marina in the keys, this can handle deeper draws (7' plus for me) but be sure to come in and leave at high tide and hug the green channel markers.

Turning into slips can be a little tricky because of the thin water, especially on the the west side. Still, there are not many other options, just be careful.

Great marina and visitors, 2016-01-27
Captain: , Knoxville (103)

This an an awesome spot. We visited with our 26 foot regal and had to stay an extra night due to a break down. The pool is brand new and pretty. The restaurant has a great happy hour. If you are into paddle boarding DO NOT miss the trail map of the island by the marina. It is awesome. Cant wait to go back to marathon marina!!!

A wonderful place to stay, 2016-01-11
Captain: , Sailing (280)

I was there in the Fall of 2014 for three months. Very friendly staff..very helpful. Docks were nice. Pool was great...perfect place to watch the sun set. Easy in and out for sailing. Highly recommended it.

Fast and friendly fuel stop, 2015-12-20
Captain: , Everett, WA (939)

We stopped here briefly to fill diesel while headed to Tampa Bay. We found the access/approach extremely straight-forward, and fueling easy and efficient. The best part, however, was Kevin providing us with accurate local knowledge concerning crabpots north of the bridge and good anchorages in Boca Grande. Thanks, Kevin!!

A late review of a great place., 2015-12-19
Captain: , Charleston, SC (136)

Stopped here for only one night while transitting south to Key West three weeks ago and loved this place. The staff was super friendly and a small army appeared, staff and neighbors, to catch lines. Clean and well maintained marina with clearly marked slips. Good food within walking distance. Definitely a return stop.

A great stop!, 2015-12-15
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

We were far behind our planned schedule so could only stay one night but wish it could have been longer. They have that strong sense of community here that Marathon is famous for. The staff is great. The boaters are friendly. The facility is clean and well maintained. Stores and restaurants are an easy walk or bike ride away. There are ongoing events. It is easy to see why so many boaters make this their winter home. It's also a great place to wait for a weather window to the Bahamas... or Cuba! We look forward to our next visit and hope to stay for a spell.

Truly a place to visit where you never want to leave., 2015-11-22
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (153)

We came from Key West a year ago to get bottom paint and we're still here. Our initial plan was to have our bottom paint redone at Marathon Boat Yard (Not to be confused with Marathon Marina and Resort) because the bottom job we have done at Marathon Boat Yard didn't last a year, but upon learning that Marathon Marina could do our bottom paint, we scheduled the job for December of 2014. Friends wanted to visit us in Marathon, plus we learned that the marina we had been staying at in Stock Island had raised their rates by 50%, so one thing led to another and we stayed.
The marina is protected in all but winds from the west which are rare, but shoaling on the outer edge of the flats keeps waves to just a chop. We lucked into a slip on the "west dock" where a 5% premium is added to the monthly $23.50 rate plus tax for the awesome sunset view. Worth it. Electric, cable and wifi is included in the rate.
There is a beautiful pool on site, plus an excelent restaurant, Lazy Days, and the resort has a smattering of very nice condos for your out of town guests or if you need to have your boat hauled for work. (No staying aboard while on the hard.)
The grounds are kept clean and the landscaping gets regular maintenance. The docks are clean as are the restrooms. The laundry contains four each of washers and dryers at a buck a load.
Fuel prices are competitive and the marine store has ample supplies too, but a West Marine and other boat services, groceries, and more restaurants are nearby. Marathon is a town where a car is not needed because the taxis are only $5 a ride. Go ahead, tip 'em an extra buck and live it up.
The marina is quiet, very quiet, and is mostly liveaboards, so we felt that security was good even though there is no security patroling at night, although marine theft is rampant in the Keys, Marathon is no exception. Keep the dinghy hard to take off with and your electronics stowed away.
Bad behavior is not tolerated and we've seen people get asked to leave and they deserved it. Use common sense and throw in some courtesy whenever you can, never a bad idea.
If we were gonna gripe, it would be that our bottom paint job in December of 2014 didn't hold up. We used Prop Speed on our running gear and the product needs expert application that wasn't used in our case. The actual paint also showed some signs of early failure, so we had Marathon Marina and Resort do the job again. I've never seen any warranties given out with bottom paint, but the marina held themselves somewhat accountable and was more than fair in the pricing, not only for the labor, but the ten gallons of paint that was used was sold to us at their cost. We'll have to see how it holds up, but we took a trip to Key West and back and the paint is still on, so we're already ahead of the game.
To be honest, I'd say the name of the place says it all, it's more of a resort than a boatyard. For serious work, I think we'd patronize Marathon Boatyard next time if only for the fact that they have a bigger staff and hopefully more experience.
Having said all this, I think we are heading north to take advantage of some cheaper dock rents in the Tampa area. This says nothing about Marathon Marina and Resort. We have really enjoyed our stay here, but there is no sense in living on a boat in order to be able to move around if you don't, well, move around.

Convenient access. nice facility. friendly and helpful staff. Excellant tiki bar and restaurant on site. Dockmaster very helpful with recommendations for service tech.

Catamaran slips available, 2015-10-18
Captain: , Chelsea, NY12512 (481)

Fixed docks, the narrow finger part made of wood, lots of large cleats to tie to. Gorgeous south west views of 7 mile bridge. Very clean. separate bins for recycling. ample number of dock carts. Friendly helpful staff. A bit pricey.

great marina, 2015-08-22

Second time we have stayed here. Another warm welcome, friendly staff, good facilities and a great location. We like it!

Very helpfull staff, cean place! Blew an engine and was towed in from Cape Sable, they called me and made everything ready prior to arrival. I arrived late being towed and they still met me at the dock!!

good marina with a friendly staff, 2015-06-20
Captain: , New Orleans, La (70)

bought my sailboat here while she was on the hard. staff was friendly and accommodating. Note: they do not allow liveaboards while the boat is on the hard, liability thing. overall was a nice marina

Nice Marina, 2015-06-07
Captain: , Colorodo (317)

Had to come in here to get engine work done as a transitent. Super nice people. A lot of liveaboards so I wasnt worried about safety but it seemed like a safe marina. I will come back there if I need to be in Marathon again. Nice docks and restaurant on property.

Rainy in June, 2015-06-04
Captain: , Honolulu (531)

Spent three nights in June of 2015, nice facility, friendly staff and local residents. Pool, numerous showers and laundry facilities all clean and well kept. Restaurant and bar were reasonably priced and busy.
Diesel $3.55, slip fee $2.50 per foot + $10 utilities per day.

Comfortable Marina, 2015-05-01
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1055)

We stayed here for two nights and had a nice slip on the East Pier which was a long walk to the facilities but did not have the sea grass that washed in floating around the dock like some of the Northern slips. The staff was friendly and the marina is pet friendly (but not by the pool). The restaurant has great food, but they are not really pet friendly even though a majority of the seating is outside. The Turtle Hospital and Crane Point are within biking distance, but there is also a cab service that charges $5 for anywhere on the island (one way). The Turtle Hospital is very educational (not pet friendly), but the guided tour is approximately 90 minutes long. Crane Point was interesting and they are pet friendly. We hired a local pet sitter (Joyful Pet Sitters) to sit on our boat and watch our dog and the rates were reasonable and the sitter was friendly and nice.

Great facility, 2015-04-23
Captain: , Kemah, TX (20)

Friendly and welcoming staff, clean facility with all the amenities you'll need either on property or a few blocks away. We've stayed twice in the last two years.

On Ocean view, Solid Wide Concrete Docks, pump out at slip,Great Pool, 2015-04-09
Captain: , Montreal Qc., Canada (100)

Like so many we came for a couple of nights and stayed for two weeks. Wish we would have known about this place prior to going to Key West. One of the best marinas we've stayed at . Good people running the place, reasonable price if you stay a week and better yet if you pay for a month and stay only 2 1/2 weeks. Garbage at front of boat on docks, emptied daily, Pump out in slip weekly, Diver on site to clean bottoms,Positive attitude of all staff. I even bought a set of 2'' cutlas bearings for spares cheaper than I could have got on the net. The dock neighbors are a great set of people and the Pool is laid back, not crowded. It is true one of the laundry machines does not work, but 4 do ,and the laundry room is one of the cleanest we've seen , there is even a tiki hut just outside the laundry room door where you can sit in the shade if you wish while your laundry gets done. Acces is restricted to general public cars and we get a gate flicker to open the gates if we have a car or visitors. There are men there and they do work ! A subtle security is always on the look out with manageing staff on site 24/7. One Sunday night a 60 foot sport fish tied up for an overnighter at the dock began to blast his version of music at 9;45 pm. Complaints werre made and he was advised to correct his action by a resident Marina Manager to 99% of the Marina's guests satisfaction. Small things , but these things add up.
A great place to enjoy the Keys after 6 weeks in Key West this was the laid back Keys we needed, we will spend the season there in the years to come.
Dog friendly , many boats with dogs on board, and excelent quality of dock neighbors. The pool gives it a 5 star.

GREAT STAFF, 2015-04-07
Captain: , YORKTOWN, VA (293)

This Marina is run by a crew of dedicated women who will try to do everything for you and don't seem to get any help from any rmen. The docks aren't that hot and a least one is horrible. This is the reason for the last poor rating. Whatever you do, don't let them put you in 49 as it now stands. Great restaurant.

High Prices - Lousy Management, 2015-03-25
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

We spent four and a half weeks in this marina while having friends and family visit us on our boat. First, let me say that the dock and maintenance staff are fantastic. They work hard and always had a smile. That, unfortunately, is where it ends.

Upon arrival we were put in slip 49. DO NOT accept this slip if they try to put you in it. To call it a "dock" is an extreme exageration. It is a pie-shaped pain in the &$$ that offers little access to the main dock (to reach the dock, we had to climb over our lifelines). When I complained about the dock, management told us that they would move us to a better slip as soon as possible. Even though we asked numerous times, and slips opened up daily, they never made good on their promise. They don't care, they have your money and it shows.

The WiFi is usless. It goes down frequently and is slow when it works. Again, the management does not care.

The "showers" were only marginally better than the WiFi. The showers in the laundry area were obviously constructed by the same genius who built slip #49. I'm not a large person, but I could barely turn around in the dressing area when opening the shower door. The shower in the "captains lounge" is laughable. I used it once and when I tried to turn off the water, the faucets just turned in circles with no result other than scalding hot water followed by cold water - no off. I felt like Curly in a Three Stooges episode. The shower in the fitness center is the best option, but everyone knows this and it's often occupied.

The laundry area had a broken washing machine that was never repaired or replaced during our stay. The "Resort" portion of the marina does laundry in the same facility(!), so the wait for washers and dryers could be ridiculously long.

The restaraunt (Lazy Days) has decent but overpriced food. Happy hour is the best deal. Learn to cook a burger to order, folks. How difficult is it?!

The people we met who were staying in the marina on their boats were great and very friendly. Many of them had the same complaints I am posting. The pool is actually very nice.

Maybe, one day the management of this place will change and start caring about the customer's experience. I won't hold my breath, nor will I be back.

Good marina and reasonable price for the Keys, 2015-03-09
Captain: , Nashville, TN (290)

We stayed there for 9 days in May and enjoyed the facility. The restaurant and bar was good, excellent pool facilities, multiple rest rooms and a large laundry. The captains clubhouse was a great place to meet other cruisers. We will be back.

Short stop on way around Florida, 2015-02-08
Captain: , palm harbor (160)

We stopped here after a 45 hour run from Daytona in November. It was good to tie up and get a breather before heading north. The bar/restaurant was good and staff was very nice although no one on the docks when we pulled in. It is a good walk to most things as the shower house is far from the dock as is the trash. Good stop. WIll stop again.

A Well-Deserved #1, 2015-01-13
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

The pool alone would warrant a 5 rating for Marathon Marina, and then you add Debbie at the fuel dock, Judy up front, clean facilities, a good ships store, and the avaliability of Lazy Days, and it all adds up to wanting to stay longer, which we did, but not long enough. We'll be back, hopefully after they build some floating docks for thoise of us with pets on smaller boats.

Great Place, Great People, 2015-01-05
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (651)

We have been docked here since the last week of October. Marathon Marina is a great place to:
Meet Cruisers
Eat Dinner at Lazy Days
Get fuel, Debbie, Em, and JD are aweseome
Get Local advice
Watch Manatees
Go Fishing
The pool is super nice
The bathrooms are clean
The WIFI is awesome

All in all this marina gets our vote, we'll be back again!

Very nice marina, 2014-12-19
Captain: , Galesville, MD (993)

The facility and the folks are very nice and accommodating here. We needed to come in for an unplanned stop to have an engine repair done. Fortunately they had room and worked with us while we got the repair sorted out. Marathon Diesel did the work on our Yanmar promptly and fairly. This place has it all in a friendly atmosphere.

Great Stay, 2014-08-28
Captain: , Marathon, FL (70)

We had an extended stay here making some repairs and waiting on a new dodger. Judy and her staff were great and keep the place nice & clean. There are a good amount of ammenities with Wifi, laundry, showers, pool, cable etc.. makes it the best overall value in Marathon. We met some really cool people here during our stay and the sunset view from our west dock slip never got old.

nice marina, a bit expensive, 2014-07-24
Captain: , Houston (110)

stayed here for a night. there is a gym and a nice lounge but only two bathrooms. they have hotel rooms available. Wi-Fi signal was not very good at the end of the dock where we our slip was. facilities were nice but a bit expensive for what you get.

Expensive - just ok, 2014-07-17
Captain: , Toronto (80)

stayed one night .. 38ft sailboat $125. ! wifi was very weak bathrooms ok. on site restaurant was expensive and just ok.
we needed a power cable and they offered to get one for us as the local west marine delivered daily to marina and we would benefit from their discount. arrived as promised , however it wasn't from west marina and 10.00 more than the same at west marine. they dropped price to match once questioned. we moved to mooring ball at marathon city morning fields next day.

Nicest place in Marathon, 2014-07-09
Captain: , Placida, FL (276)

A bit more expensive than others, but we think it's wotrh it. Great facilities: docks, showers, heads, etc. A few reviews have commented that there are only a few bathrooms, but there are actually 11, they're just not all in one place and not all close depending on your slip location. They are: Fuel Dock (1), Captains' Lounge (1), Workout Room (1) Laundry Building (2), Building by Travelift (4), Pool area (2).

Slips on the west side (where we are) are exposed in SW/W winds, but the shallows break up some of the waves when it does blow from there. East side and inner slips have more wind/wave protection, but also some bugs from the mangroves. West side has great views (and no bugs).

Marina has a really nice pool and well kept, resort-like grounds. Also great happy hour at Lazy Days (restaurant on site). We looked at a couple of other marinas here and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Great Layover, 2014-05-03
Captain: , East Greenwich RI (504)

We were in Marathon with our sail boat last year. Stayed on a mooring in the City Marina--ok but basic! Showeres were institunial!
Stayed here at Marathon Marina this year with our new boat. Grand Banks 42 and wanted the convience of a dock and power for airconditioning! This was a great choice of marinas --the other collection are just a bit too 'Conch Republic" and not the least bit helpfull in docking. Ponchos tried to put us in a 20' slip --said just tie it up well!!!! You get the point I'm sure.

2nd stay, Would stay again, 2014-04-20
Captain: , Perry, Kansas (317)

Date of stay 11 April 2014. Stayed here last year. This time it was again excellent. On site restaurant was outstanding with great happy hour specials. Great protection if you are on the inside, not so good if on the outside with a westerly wind (which we did not have) Laundry and showers and restrooms were nice and clean.

Nice, nice, and nice, 2014-04-16

Thank you to Judy and all the staff for making our month in Marathon so enjoyable. This place and the staff are wonderful from dog treats for our new and skittish rescue dog, to smiles and listening ears for our daugters, and to clean grounds with low key rules. We enjoyed Marathon tremendously.

Long time live aboard, 2014-04-12
Captain: , Marathon (90)

We have stayed at Marathon Marina for 4 years as a full time liveaboard on our cat. Then returned in January of 2014.
We love Debbie at the fuel dock. Also Judy the dockmaster is very attentive and knowledgeable.
The Marina is very friendly with movie nights, cook outs and dock parties.

Not our favorite, 2014-03-20
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (82)

We only spent 1 night. They worked hard to find a slip for us, which we appreciate. The pool area and the bar/resturant were great. 1/2 price happy hour drings (3pm-6) as well as reduced price appetizers. We were assigned slip 9. As you enter the Boot Key Harbor Channel, this is the first marina on the left. To reach slip 9, turn to port just before the fuel dock. The slip numbers begin at "1" on the dock to your starbord side as you travel down the fairway. Slip 9 is a port tie if you stern in. The 50 amp plug on the pedestal as well as the 30 amp circuit breaker are not secured to the pedestal and push into the body of the pedestal with just the slightest pressure. We had to use some small stuff and duct tape to make this remotely safe. There is 1 bathroom / shower room out at the fuel dock. The other 2 are all the way at the back of the yard in the main parking lot. We don't mind a bit of exersize, but the entire marina is VERY dark at night. There is no security here. As we walked back to the marina from dinner, 4 Sherrif's cars were trying to get a loud, drunk group of neer do wells (?)(as politically correct as I can get) to leave the area. It did not feel comfortable.

This Place Grows on You., 2014-03-16
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

This is not your typical marina with amenities. It is more a working yard that specializes in smaller boats but does have plenty of long term slip users with larger boats. Transients get what is left over which for me was a face dock near the haul out station. Had to come down a very narrow fairway to get there and was not sure how I would get out. I am 53 LOA and the fairway was about 65 feet wide. I had just enough room to spin around. People are very nice and helpful. Facilities are very good and the restaraunt is quite nice. $5 cab ride gets you to anywhere you need so reprovisioning is easy. Saturdays, there is a great farm stand across the street from the Publix. Everything is picked within days of sale but go early. They open at 10 or 11 AM but sell out almost withing 2-3 hours. The good stuff lasts about 15 minutes.

Marathon Marina, 2014-03-05
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Mary & I have spent several months at a time during the last 4 winters at Marathon Marina. During this time the management has made many changes, all for the better! New help at several key positions, the yard equipment has been upgraded, new amenities such as tiki huts, captains' lounge, exercise room, upgraded bathrooms and laundry, and a great new "beach" pool have been added for boaters enjoyment.

The latest "new" item that has been enthusiastically supported by management, added at our request, is recycling of aluminum cans specifically to provide eyeglasses for Marathon's less fortunate and to provide dialysis for children cancer victims. Other used items are also being collected to provide help for armed service personnel.

The marina is in the process of becoming a "clean marina" and was developing their own recycling program, but will allow our own "local" program to co-exist.

This is a great place to spend time!

Good fuel dock and yard but worst administration ever, 2014-02-27
Captain: , Newport (20)

My opinion is shared by many clients that left the marina before I did. The problem is the marina management (Fuel dock and Yard peoples are great). Here some examples:

- When a Topical storm hit in 2012, I ask them to hull out the boat and keep it in the yard. Instead, the management put it back on water in order to charge me more money per month and crash it! After 1 1/2 year of intense negotiation, they give me some parts and I have to repair everything myself?

- Went to the Bahamas in the middle of January 2013 and still have half month paid and they told me, "Don't worry". When coming back a month after, I stay 2 nights on a slip and they charge me full daily rate that cost twice the amount of what they give me for my half month in credit!

- When I was back in autumn of 2013, my new dock box (they make me buy a fancy gel coated box when others had cheap plastic one) was missing and they told me "We are not responsible"... What kind of marina let a 6' dock box disappear without any surveillance?

- Each end of the season, they bill me an extra month by error so I have to show them all payments in order to have a correct invoicing?

- When I left the marina, I had a credit balance and they told me %u201CWe have to prepare a check for you%u201D. After 3 months and many emails/calls, they didn%u2019t have time to prepare it yet%u2026

Again, this rating concern the office people, the Fuel dock and the Yard is managed with all possible effort to satisfied client.

good stop, nice staff, clean, 2014-02-02
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Clean bathrooms, community grills and lounge, Fixed docks, for keys good fuel prices, $4.80/gal diesel. Great heated pool, exercise room with TV's older equipment but OK, really good restaurant on site, try the Lionfish really great. Budget car rental on Marathon, $32/day for economy car. West Marine less than a mile, great dingy cruising through anchorage and to look at million dollar homes. Canal leads to Atlantic at both ends. Could anchor in canal towards Atlantic about 2 miles from Marina. Publix 3 miles, taxi cost $5 for one way most places on Marathon. Be sure to eat at Fish Company on Bay Side, really different neat place with great food. Home Depot 3 miles, Walgreens and Cvs 3 mikes.Marathon airport 3 miles.

Adequate Marina, 2013-07-24
Captain: , St. Teresa, FL (60)

Marathon Marina has decent facilities, but the docks could use a facelift. The current runs through the marina and is strong at times, so make sure you're tied up well to avoid the concrete docks. The store is not well stocked, but there is a pool and restuarant (we did not use either, so I cannot comment on them). Overall, we would stay here again but this is not the nicest marina we've been in.

Great marina, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Indian Rocks Beach (296)

We only stayed one night because we were passing through but everything about the marina was top notch! The only thing that could have been better would have been floating docks. The facilities are very clean, the pool is nicely landscaped, the staff extremely helpful, adequate little store at the fuel docks, great cable TV, and they have a very reasonable taxi service that can take you to one of a dozen nearby restuarants if you don't want to eat at the one on site which is good too. They also do repairs on site if you need them. We will definately return for a longer visit.

Perfect Winter Hideaway, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Jersey City, NJ (190)

Well maintained, well run facility with a great staff. Good on-site restaurant, really nice pool, lounge, fitness center. Marathon has everything needed for reprovisioning, maintenance, and boat stuff all within biking distance. There are rental car agencies on the island. We highly recommend it.

Captain: , marathon Fl (10)

All the services that a boater needs, are around and even more. You will find plenty of restrooms with showers, dock carts, a hugue laundry, a gym, a very splendid pool, a resto-bar, etc. etc. and everything is very well maintained and the employees are very nice and friendly. Renting by day, week or month. Marathon Marina, 2013-06-15
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (144)

The marina is well maintained although a bit to commercial, too much concrete and little landscaping for our taste. The transit rate is $2.75 plus taxes etc so it is on the pricey side given the amenities. The laundry is very nice, new gym and lounge. With an east breeze the no-seeums are unpleasant. The pool is nice although when we visited just a couple of days ago the water was not so clear. The entry channel, favor the green markers and mid tide or better is recommended.

Good option for haul out and summer storage, 2013-05-25
Captain: , Utica, Ohio (245)

Great facilities here (laundry, restaurant, docks, restrooms, showers - it's all very good) and friendly staff. It's expensive, especially versus the city moorings, but if you're coming and going from the boat it's generally necessary to be in a slip rather than a mooring. Haulout and storage on the hard is comparable to Harbortwon in Ft. Pierce, which is where I was going to haul out but decided to stay here. Haulout $10 ft (includes launch) and storage is $11 per month (summer 2013 rates). If you want to work on your boat, they will move it to working yard where you can bottom paint or perform repairs, althought there is some added costs for that but it's reasonable. When you launch you're in the middle of the Keys. Perfect.

Perfect All Around!, 2013-05-13
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

We planned to stay 1 noght on our recent cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Key West & back. Ended up staying 2 nights and would have extended even more if we had the time. From the staff to the facility to the location this was a great experience. We needed a pup out and while our pier was not on the schedule the day we called, the marina made arrangements and the crew took care of us. Local taxi service was inexpensive and efficient so re-provisioning and a stop at West Marine were super easy. The onsite restaurant is very good and worth including in your stop. The pool is exceptional and the view was fantastic. We also walked up the street and had a fun night at a local favorite called Salty's. Good food, no pretense and a decent band. Definately would go back!

Judy, Valerie and Dennis go out of their way to help you. They offer pump outs right at your dock by hooking up to a central system. Cable TV was unsuccessful, but that may be our wiring system because we have not used it since last Fall. Read Tomfoolery's review for more, and we agree.

A 5 Star Marina - Marathon Marina and Boatyard, 2013-03-25
Captain: , Bristol, RI (240)

If we could give MM a higher rating, we would! 5+ Marathon Marina is absolutetly the place to dock your boat as a winter liveaboard! The marina's professional, dedicated, and hardworking staff keep the marina resort clean and manicured for its many guests. The knowledgeable staff is extremely helpful whether it be a boat repair or a question about local sites. The fuel dock offers discounts to those who dock. The pool, workout room, laundry, and captain's lounge are available for use at anytime. Judy, Dennis, and the friendly, exceptional staff host many events, impromptu get togethers, and movie nights where many lasting friendships are made. MM is truly a home away from home where everyone feels welcome. There are shaded tiki huts for relaxing, reading, and spending time with family and friends. We visited nearly every marina facility in the area, and know we truly made the best decision.

Captain: , Panama City (20)

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Fixed docks. Clean marina. Dog friendly but you have a little ways to wallk to get to grassy area. Enjoyed our stay. Diesel was $4.49 a gall. About 2.5 miles to Publix.

Awesome Marina, 2013-02-04
Captain: , Seattle, WA (414)

This marina is awesome. It has a great swimming pool, a exercise room, plenty of showers/bathrooms, captains lounge and great laundry facility. And the rates are great. Judy the dock master is fantastic and always willing to help. West marine is a short walk away and you can take a taxi to anyplace in Marathon for $5, wow. My opinion this is the best place to watch the sunset in the Keys, better than Key West. One of the best marinas we have ever stayed at. Must do while in the Marathon is the Turtle Hospital, great experience.

Very Expensive, 2012-10-19
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1836)

Including tax and extra charges dock ended up at $5.04 per foot, most we have paid in 3500 miles. Stayed on alternate fuel dock, fixed and dock was in good shape, had 100 amp power and it was good. Restaurant was excellent and pool was nice. 4-5 miles from town. 12' water at low. Approach was easy and well marked.

Not impressed, 2012-08-12
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (231)

We stayed here 8/9/12 as one leg of our 2,200 mile trip up and down the ICW. We've stayed at a couple dozen marinas along the way and would rate this at the bottom. No staff assisted us in docking (no problem but a first for the trip) and we tied to a wobbly wood finger pier that clearly needed rehab. We tripped the 50-Amp breaker (also a first for the trip) making me suspect of dock power. No comment on the restaurant as we decided to stay on board and move-on the next day. At nearly $3 a foot all-in we won't be back, especially since there are some first class marinas in Key West at that price. Fuel price looked pretty good although we didn't need any. Favor the greens when transiting the channel; we had no problem with our five foot draft at mid-tide.

If you need fuel in Marathon, 2012-08-09

As time passes, I found myself coming back here for fuel... They had the best price on diesel fuel each time I BOUGHT Boot key..They kept track of the current market.

First class boatyard and restaurant, 2012-06-26
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

As the Keys go - this Marina is first rate. State of the art travellift with remote control operation. Docks are nice and so is the pool. Lazy Days Restaurant is our favorite eating place in Marathon. You can come by boat to the restaurant if you so choose. there are slips available for patrons. There is no dinghy dock per se, but you could scramble onto an open guest dock.

Great staff, 2012-06-24
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

We spendt a week here. Exposed to south/west winds, but docks are easy to get into and out with plenty of protection. I would rate it much higher, but the off-season price is too much. We will return however.

Fantastic Pool, 2012-06-11
Captain: , Halifax Marina Daytona Beach (300)

fantastic pool, very good restaurant with huge portions!, very good marina, not so dog friendly

Nicest marina I have seen in a long time., 2012-06-01
Captain: , Port Orange, FL (95)

It's a little pricey at $2.50/ft per night, but it's certainly worth it. There are currently no specials here (I asked about the third night free and Boat US discount). The staff was very friendly and polite. The only small thing was they said they would send me someone to come catch my lines at my slip and no one ever came. They have a really nice pool, decent wifi, the fuel dock is very easy to get to with diesel and gas, free ice, very clean showers and restrooms. Nice laundry room. The monthly rate off season is very reasonable for the amenities you get. Slips are nice and not too close to each other. It's an easy walk to a couple of restaurants and a very cheap taxi ride to everything else. Be sure to go see the Turtle Hospital a couple of miles away ($4 taxi ride).

Great Marina, Friendly and Competent Staff, 2012-05-08
Captain: , Houston TX (348)

We pulled in for two days, discovered we had an engine problem and stayed a month. Very nice amenities -- cable, reasonably fast WiFi, large laundry facility, air-conditioned showers, a gym and a great pool, plus pump out in your slip. Other reviewers have complained about being moved during their stay; we did not experience that and we only saw one other boat moved after arrival and it was becausse they decided to stay longer than initially reserved and the slip they were in was specifically reserved for someone else. The restaurant on site, Lazy Days, is very good and has a good happy hour menu and drink specials. It is a comfortable bike ride to Publix (about 4 miles) and there are several other restaurants along US1. Judy, Dennis, Mike, Debbie and all the others that work there went out of the way to help us with everything we needed. Not much grass to walk the dog until you get across US1 to the walkway towards 7 mile bridge, but they are very dog-friendly at Marathon Marina. We will certainly be back!

Great pool, free ice, 2012-04-14
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Pulled in for fuel only, but stayed when we noticed fuel discounts with overnight slip. Just average docks (good condition) no help docking as our slip was long way from fuel dock. Above average (expensive) restaurant on site plus noisy grille accross the highway. This marina has one of the nicest pools we've used.

Beautiful Pool, 2012-03-18
Captain: , Doylestown, Pa. 18902 (414)

Spent a night here fixed docks stayed towards the rear of the marina near Lazy Days restaurant. Kind of tight once you are inside the marina proper. They have nice showers but low water pressure in the showers. The swimming pool is beautiful and you can bring your own beverages, just no glass containers. Many restaurants after short walk to route one. The seven mile grill is a favorite of ours and reasonable.

Locally, the best for fuel (and FREE ICE), 2012-02-10
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (2982)

Price for daily dockage is pretty high, but it's a bargain at the monthly rate, and their fuel prices are FAR better than anyone elses, and they actually GIVE away ice. (by the bag!)

Musical Chairs, 2012-01-20
Captain: , bristol, ri (31)

If you are a transient boat looking for a spot for 2 days to two weeks and are less than 35 feet do not stay here. You will be treated like a second class citizen.
If however you are a large Yacht looking to grow roots beneath your hull. this is the place for you.
In 10 days we were told to move 3 different times. This included our arrival when we were told to take a slip that was given to another boat at the same time and put us in a precarious position. Although someone was to be there to help us tie up, it did not happen due to the disorganization. Next, we were told someone else needed the slip we were on at which time we were moved to a floating parking lot. In front of us was the office and in back of us was a big imposing 50 foot RV.
There was not a breath of air and each morning we woke up to 2 people on beach chairs behind our stern gazing in to our boat. Apparently the yard is expanding to accommodate a trailer park.
The worst mishap was when our spot could not accommodate our dingy. We were given a separate spot for the dingy and told to climb up on someone elses boat to get into it. My husband fell onto the other boat and with just a few bruises.
I fell right into the harbor and banged my head on the dock. Exasperated, I complained to the woman in charge who instead of apologizing just said "You should never have to climb on another vessel to get to your boat"
The best and only good part of being there was leaving it. In my 15 years of sailing and experiencing other marinas, this was by far the worst ever.

Easy stop for fuel or the night, 2012-01-19
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

We have stayed at Marathon Marina a few times usually due to a late arrival and stopping for fuel. The marina is easy in and out, and the new restaurant Lazy Days has awesome food. I undertand they may be putting in a pool in 2012.

Enjoyed the stay, 2011-11-05
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (533)

Good marina, friendly folks. Several restaurants within easy walking distance. The only thing I can think of that's negative is that the slip they put our 38' boat in had some short finger piers and it was a little difficult to get on and off the boat.

Great Marina!, 2011-10-11
Captain: , Clearwater, Florida (141)

I agree with all the below positive comments. Many marina live-aboards came here from other local marinas, and agree this is the best marina in the area. We had 2 diffferent marina "residents" offer their cars to us the 2nd day we were here. There is a 3-year waiting list for year-round dockage. Regarding the bad fuel review, I have not had the problem nor has anyone at the marina I have spoken with.

All construction (pool, heads, laundry area) is complete. $2 for wash and $1 for dry on new laundry machines -- a real bargain! The pool and pool area are easily the nicest I have seen in a marina of this price range. The management spent a lot of money on the pool -- $25K in furniture alone. The pool, restaurant, and half the slips face west toward open water and beautiful sunsets.

The Lazy Days restaurant has delicious entrees, but the real attraction is the daily 3-6 pm happy hour. $2 for 6 large wings (10 different flavors to choose from), conch fritters, jalapeno poppers, etc; $2.75 for 16 oz premium (Sam Adams, etc) COLD draft beer. Two beers, two glasses of wine, and 4 appetizers was "dinner" for 2 for less than $20. Many folks here seem to have "dinner" during happy hour several times per week.

The only negative I have is that the pool closes at dusk due to not meeting state illumination requirements. This is not a problem now (7 pm sunset), but when daylight savings time expires and the days shorten it will mean the pool is closed early during the marina's peak season (Nov-Mar). After spending so much money to create a very nice pool area, it is a shame not to invest in the lighting to keep the pool open after dusk. Perhaps the reason is more complicated than illumination, but that is what managemant told me.

great overnight, 2011-08-04
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

Stayed here overnight for first time in late June. Friendly staff and clean facilities. Most bathrooms were being remodeled, but that will soon be remedied. Restaurant on site was very good, try whole fried yellowtail -- a little pricey but yum. Good gas dock and small discount for staying there. We needed a diver, and as we cleared the seven mile bridge radioed in and they had a diver waiting for us. great service.

Fuel Concern, 2011-07-09
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

This is a nice marina. Helpful dock staff and friendly people. But, took on 100 gallons of diesel and four running hours later had plugged fuel filters. Would stay there but won't buy their fuel.

Clean and comfortable!, 2011-05-13
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

I have never stayed in a cleaner marina. Trash is picked up at least 3 times a day. All the boater facilities are maintained to a high degree. You are well protected from all but West winds and there is no waking. The marina is the located far from Publix but within walking distance to West Marine and Home Depot.

The fuel prices are the best around and if you're staying you get an additional discount. All the staff is very friendly and the on-site restrauant is excellent.

Marathon Marina, 2011-04-12

Excellent stay here -- we had several service items that needed to get done and they were quick and reasonably priced. Everyone is friendly. The local restaurant (LazyDays) is great. Only negative is the gnats from the mangroves.

We Will Be Back, 2011-04-06
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

First Trip to Marathon and spent entire winter here at this marina Great Staff Judy, Dennis and Shana do a super job of making you feel at home. Being not so close to everything is an advantage. You can get where ever you want. The bus is convenient. New Swimming pool just about finished, great Lazy Days Resturant. Many activities with community groups. A congenial group of people in the marina. Best Sunsets in Marathon. M/Y ALLEZ!

Good Friendly Facility, 2011-03-16
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

We stayed one night between Key West and Marco Island. The staff and other boaters were extremely friendly although the facility definitely needs updating in the bathroom area, we would stay again. It was the most clean worn out bathroom I have used with the shower stall bottom cracked and water running underneath making it rather spongy.

The restaurant was full and the pool was further along than past reviews stated but still a way away unless someone has a magic wand.

Great location

Good Marina in Marathon, 2011-03-09
Captain: , Macatawa, Michigan (80)

This is a well run marina with 117 slips and is full up in January and February. Advance reservations are a must. They are building a pool which may be ready for summer but will most certainly be ready by next season. The new owners seem intent on operating a first class facility. The laundry is fabulous with 5 new washers and 5 new dryers. The bath/shower facilities, however, rate probably only a 6 on a scale of 10 in terms of physical plant. They are however, VERY clean. They are thoroughly cleaned every day. The boater garbage around the marina is picked up at least twice day. The marina provides good protection except from westerly blows. But during the season the winds are largely from the east and north and the boats ride easily here.

FUEL STOP ONLY, 2011-02-25
Captain: , Cincinnati (1800)

We could not get a slip at the marina. We did get fuel and the staff was very nice and friendly. The fuel dock attendant was so good we even called the management to comment on the service. Price was the best in boot key that we found.

LazyDays restaurant is excellent, 2011-01-31
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5610)

This is a review of the restaurant, not the marina. LazyDays is easily the best restaurant in Marathon. The fish sandwich is outstanding. Everything we had was piping hot, cooked just right and the service was very attentative. And, the prices were reasonable ($11 for lunch sandwiches with all the trimmings) All this comes with a great view of the sunsert, hard to beat.

Great marina, 2010-12-08
Captain: , Cruising (3259)

This is a well-run marina with a friendly staff. New ownership in late 2009: new washers and dryers, exercise room, tiki huts and nice seating around. Electric and weekly pump-outs are included in monthy rate and pump-out is now running better than in years past. Lazy Days South restaurant is really excellent. The marina has an unobstructed view of the sunset from the docks and a pretty quiet atmosphere. It's a little far from some of the stores and shops in Marathon - you'll need your bike or you can take a local cab. Biking in Marathon is easy, with a bike path on the north side of Rt. 1, and wide shoulders on the south side.

great facility, 2010-08-27
Captain: , Marathon, FL (121)

great facility, slips for multihulls, lazy days restaurant onsite has a very inexpensive happy hour.

You Can Almost See to Key West, 2009-03-24
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

I couldn't get a mooring so I took a slip for three days, loved it so much that I expanded the three days to a month at a very reasonable rate.
Bit of a walk or bike ride to stores and restaurants, but the sunsets and accompanying Conch Seranades more than make up for it.

Location, location, location, 2009-03-22
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1288)

First marina on your port side going in, Marathon Marina has what it takes: a good location, sturdy concrete piers, well (but not perfectly) maintained facilities, good water and electric, and a friendly staff. It's a bit of a walk to everything in town except the on-site restaurant. Lots of friendly yachties winter here and they gather each evening on the west pier, conch horns in hand, to help the sun set.

Marathon Marina, 2008-04-05
Captain: , Prior Lake, MN (14)

$2.50 per foot today. It's OK but one would expect nicer showers and dock accomodations at that price. We just came from the Marco Island Marina two days back and paid only a few dollars more for 5 star accomodations. This is my first time in this area so maybe the market price is just higher. Great dinner at Frosties in the marina.

Could be a great marina, 2007-03-15
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

This is a good facility but seems to be going thru some sort of reincarnation. No one seems to be in charge.
It is rather expensive but cheaper than Key West. There is a good restaurant onsite but there are great restaurants within walking distance. Try the Fried Chicken at Dion's in the the gas station around the corner. Ask anyone.
