Reviews for Manitowoc Marina
Ez In Convenient, 2016-06-01
Captain: , Huntington Harbour, CA (317)

We had traveled 90+nm across Lake Michigan (from Grand Haven) and this was an easy in and convenient stay for the night. $1.60/ft. The town is .6 to 1 mile away. We didnt' do any exploring. There was no restaurnat at the marina. Office and marina staff nice and helpful.

Not a fan. City needs some love., 2015-08-31
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Manitowoc needs some TLC. It's a real pity. Other than a wold class marine museum there's not much more to the place. It seemed more of the store fronts were closed than active. We did find the Italian deli which was fabulous -- but the rest of the city can't be propped up by one deli! The marina was ok -- but in the end our planned four day layover turned into departing the following day and running down to Sheboygan.

Great stop, 2015-08-28
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (392)

Very good protected harbor. Deep water at the docks. Friendly and helpful attendants to tie up. $1.50/ foot. 30/50 amp at each dock. Good water quality also. Great wifi reception at the dock. Boater's lounge is very relaxing. Laundry is good, $1.00 to wash, $.50 to dry. Facilities available 24/7 with keyed entry. Wisconsin Maritime Museum and historic downtown within walking distance. Much to do for a multiple day stop.

Great Place To Stop, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

First visit was a day trip from Ludington, MI on the SS Badger. Checked out Marina and made a reservation We were there for five days 9-7-14 through 9-12-14 Rate is $1.25 ft for five day stay which Includes Electric 50 Amp which is 250 volt NOT 208. FREE Wi-Fi on docks good signal strength. Facilities and staff energetic and efficient. Nice Lounge and restroom/showers. Two dock hand came to receive our lines. Depth on approach through Breakwater 11 ft. Slip E-35 has 8 ft. Took a road trip with Enterprise to Door County, Washington, Island and then Green Bay Wi. and took the Champions Tour of Lambeau Filed, Home of Green Bay Packers. Felt comfortable leaving the boat for 3 days at Manitowoc. You have to visit the Manitowoc Maritime Muesum next door. quality through out and also don't miss the tour of the Submarine SS COBIA it is afloat. Fantastic restoration. The Marina has Great Facilities and Staff. introduced them to Active Captain Website. Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ! MT50 AGLCA, MTOA USPS

We hit a great weekend to stop, 2014-09-09
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

We got to see both Sputnikfest and the End of Summer Block Party. We were here Sat/Sun.

I had an alternator issue that needed to wait until Monday. The mechanic was onboard by 8:30 and we were moving off the dock at 9:30.

Best part was Saturday was Customer Appreciation Fish Boil and they were nice enough to invite us! Had a great time and met lots of interesting people.

Fuel prices were also reasonable.

One of our favorite transit stops., 2014-09-02
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (146)

As has always been the case, a great to stop for a night or two. Clean facilities, well stocked parts house, skilled mechanics willing to help a DYI mech.

Plenty of food & beverage places within easy walking distance. Our favorite is Harborside at the corner of York & 7th. Classic 1940's Ice Cream Parlor in Beernsten Confectionary at 8th & Maritime.

Good marina with everything necessary. Must visit the Maritime Museum. The Courthouse Pub has excellent food. Easy to rent a car from Enterprise

All services marina with some counter help issues and good dock help, 2014-07-05
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Everything a cruiser needs except a courtesy vehicle. Can be a real hike to the facilities if on the northern end of the marina. "A" dock is the perferred location infront to the bathrooms etc..
Enterprise will ;pick up and you can leave the car at the Marinia to be returned. Enterprise will come to pick it up at the Marina offce. Convenient to make an early departure next day. The Door County is worth the drive around, very beautiful.
Returned again 7-04-14. this is still a 4 star marina. The dock help are enthusiastic and very responsive. That said the office help is not quite knowledge. I called twice to reserve a slip and second time to verify all was inorder stressing that we have a 16' beam which they assured me would not be a problem. Upon arrival and again advising them that we had a 16' beam they assigned us a 15.5' slip which wjould not fit us. The dock help called the office and we were assigned an 18' slip. There were many open slips that could have accomdidated us. The power is only 120 dgree sine wave 208volt for those with sensitive 240volt motors and the power pedicstal serving our slip had the circuit breakers upside down so that "on" was "off" and "off" was "on"? Hence I am downgrading this otherwise nice stop to a 3 star.

Needs updating, 2013-02-06
Captain: , Lakeside Yacht Club (250)

Older marina. Walk to town and see the museum. No pool. Gathering area wiht showers, coffeee etc. Town doesn't have much to offer.

Very Good Full-Service Marina, 2012-08-04
Captain: , Maryland Heights, MO (314)

Has everything you'll need and is close to town and the excellent Maritime Museum (don't miss it). Well-sheltered from the harbor with very well-maintained restrooms and showers. Friendly and helpful staff.

Manitowoc Marina, 2011-09-25
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (141)

Thought the facility was very nice with decent rates ($46/nite for 42 ft boat.

Manitowoc Marina, 2011-07-13
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

The Staff was friendly and helpful. The transient docks were a little run down and the walk to the bathrooms and shower was rather long. The town is almost completely closed on Sundays and Saturday evenings. There are a number of small shops and restaurants to choose from when they are open.

Manitowac Municipal Marina, 2011-03-09
Captain: , Macataw, MI (435)

We kept our boat here for four years when the Marina was first remodelled in 1987. It is still one of the most secure harbors on the WI side and a great value. The Maritime Museum (easy walk) is a definite "must" and I think one of the most well-done maritime museums in the US. Lots of restaurants within a half-mile walk.

OK Marina but needs to get with the times regarding Internet, 2010-09-16
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

I'm not sure who the people are who gave this marina 5 stars, but it takes an amazing marina to get that rating, and this marina doesn't make that mark in my book. Four stars maybe, but when you throw in the fact that they want to charge $10/day for Internet, I'll drop them to 3 stars. Get with the times folks, this in included for free at the vast majority of marinas that we've stayed.

The docks are in OK shape and the staff is friendly. The showers are bathrooms are very nicely maintained.

There's a fair amount to see in town (see the other reviews). We completely agree with the other review recommending Maretti's on Buffalo St. We had lunch there and could easily have had a good dinner.

We also suggest that you stop in the court house and check out the rotunda.

Winter stored there for years..., 2010-03-20
Captain: , Waukegan, IL (20)

Stored and serviced our sailboat at MM for years even though is was over 100 nautical miles from our home port. Very competent service crew who can fix most anything; Fred and Gary especially recommended.

Nice Marina, 2009-09-10
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

They have everything you may need. Nice place. Try the small Italian place called Marettis Deli, it was great and very reasonable www.marettisdeli.com The submarine museum was good too.....

Very clean, well run marina.

Get Close to the Sub, 2007-07-12
Captain: , Winthrop Harbor, IL (60)

A very well-run marina with friendly, competent staff. Fairly well- stocked ship's store at check in point. Nice lounge for boaters with cable and coffee; fire pit near lounge. More than a mile hike to town, but worth it as you'll pass the maritime musuem (home of a WW II submarine moored on the river) as well as a pizza place other restaurantsand bars, and old-fashioned ice cream parlor certain to raise your cholestoral level as much as it did ours. On the way back out to the harbor, take a slight detour and cruise by the sub at the Maritime Museum, it's even more awesome from the water side view.
