Reviews for Manhasset Bay Yacht Club
Incredibly disappointing.  Perhaps downright rude. , 2017-08-08
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (400)

Generally, if I have nothing good to say about someone or something, I will say little or nothing and just move on.  Not this time.  I will just call it as it was.  Most disappointing.  Perhaps not totally their fault as we had just come from a private yacht club that was beyond fantastic, where all the members and staff we interacted with were great.  Perhaps they had set a very high standard.  Not so at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club.

The bright spot.  The launch drivers and dock hands.  Great folks.  From arrival to departure.  For the three days we were there, we met many of them and all, to a man, were friendly, welcoming, and promptly helpful.  Best launch service we have encountered on our summer cruise.  But this is where the bright spot ends with the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club.

Reception desk.  Launch driver instructed us to check in with the reception desk at the front of the beautiful, wonderfully traditional club building.  The receptionist was immediately confused as to why we were there or attempting to check in.  Once that was straightened out, she was helpful and told us what facilities we could use and what facilities we could not use.  We were ok with that.  One of the facilities she said we could use was the club dining room, and that lunch was still being served.  Once complete with the reception, we entered the dining room.  After departure, she over charged us by a day and then told us that their policy was to charge for any portion of a 24 hour period that a boat was at a mooring.  Wow.  Thankfully the dock master disagreed and straighten that out for us over the next several days.

Dining Service Manager.  On entering the dining room, we were promptly seated.  The waitress was very nice and welcoming.  We said we were transient guests visiting the club from another yacht club and ordered lunch.  Shortly thereafter the restaurant manager came over to quickly and rudely interrogate us as to who we were, why we were there, and who did we think we were?  He directly stated that we were most welcome to find other dining options in town, but that we could complete our order and eat this time.  And, that if we were so bold, we should next time attempt to make a reservation before coming in to dine.  Well, first impressions are lasting impressions, so they say.  That was the last time we bothered with the food service facility.

More bright side.  The wifi in the club building was very good.  The toilet and shower facilities were very good, clean, and semi-private.  The club location and layout seem top notch.

Seemed strange to us, but not until the hour before we were departing, after three days, did a single club member have the simplest, friendly word or even a welcoming nod to offer.  Snooty, snobbish, you decide.  I%u2019ll just call it strange.

I suspect that after reading this review that the feeling is perhaps mutual, but we will not return to the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club.  But I don%u2019t think that they will either notice nor care.

First Rate YC, 2016-09-10
Captain: , Huntington (465)

We were looking for a nice place not too far from home port. As it turned out our friends were having dinner at the club the same night. We picked up a mooring. Launch service was prompt though we were pretty far out. Dinner was very good as was our company. We got to meet a few members in the dock and they could not have been friendlier. We will be going back.

Very nice but expensive, 2009-08-25
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (1356)

Most expensive moorings on LI Sound. For $50 you would think you would have access to the pool. No, Guests are not welcome to use the pool

Very friendly and welcoming for cruising yachtsmen, 2009-07-06

I went to the club and intoduced myself as a recip club member and the welcome was fabulous. Geat views, great pool and friendly staff. Stay away from the food at the outdoor grill....:(

Best Bloody Mary in the World!, 2008-09-29
Captain: , Manhattan, NY (171)

The bartender, Alan has been there for 15 years and makes the absolute best bloody mary anywhere. This is a traditional yacht club in every sense; the grounds are impeccable, the facility well managed and maintained. There are 6 rooms available for guests and the launch service is very efficient.
