Reviews for Manhasset Bay Marina
used services from town mooring. , 2014-09-19
Captain: , West Gardiner, ME (735)

Read in active captain that services available for a fee from the moorings. Road our dinghy over and staff outside seemed confused by our question for a dinghy dock and said park anywhere. After docking, another staff member seemed annoyed we were there, then after a conversation became very nice and agreed we were welcome to use the showers. Shower rooms were not in the best condition and didn't drain. Laundry was fine. Happy hour bar menu and staff were awesome. This was not the best place to walk to services from. Better at the town dock north for groceries, west, etc. at the other town dock for shops and restaurants.

Thank you Manhasset Bay Marina, 2014-07-25

Over the past several seasons, we've stopped in Port Washington to either do maintenance on the boat or dock it if we need to leave it. Last year our outboard abruptly failed to start (electric coil) that was fully repaired there. It stilll starts with the first gentle pull and no choke one year later . This season we needed parts to rebuild an older head and a new 8d battery. Pat was extremely helpful in assisting in finding parts and getting them delivered to us in a timely manner, and was able to provide us with assistance to wrestle the 120# battery into the boat. And, of course, they have a great happy hour at the bar. Service is first rate.

Great People, 2013-12-15
Captain: , Washington DC (150)

We spent the summer on a mooring and sailed the sound. Pat was great along with Mat (if you stay here more than a few days you will meet mat) and Gary (the pump out boat guy). All in all the team did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and it really was. We caught stripers and blues right from the mooring (with some tips from Mat) as well as enjoyed quite a few great sunsets. The town is very cruiser friendly with lots of great happy hours to check out during the week, grocery store and West Marine walking distance from the dinghy dock. We loved it. Great place

Accomidating with easy access to town/train, 2013-10-09
Captain: , ft lauderdale (90)

Docks are older but staff is very accomidating. Great price at $2 per foot with electric included. Main st. is fun with a great sushi resturant. Not a high end port unless you go to the disigner shops at mirical mile a few miles away but fun. Kinda reminds me of Greenport. tender or water taxi to the city dock and walk across the street to stop and shop, homegoods, starbucks. $10 and half hour train ride to the city with out the city prices.

year round marina, 2012-01-19
Captain: , New York (160)

safe, all service, excellent repairs- carpentry, gelcoat, rigging. Very accommodating in season or winter, walk to town shopping center and restaurants also one mile to RR, very protected in a blow..we took a mooring to let Irene blow buy without problems.

Probably not representative, 2011-08-02
Captain: , Vienna, VA (320)

We did not stay at the marina, but we did go to fill our diesel and water tanks and get ice in preparation for the trip down the coast to the Chesapeake. We had 2 young men who were the employees. They were both unfriendly, unhelpful, unsmiling. I expect managment was not aware of their attitude, but it certainly soured us on the facility.

Nice harbor, 2011-05-15
Captain: , Aquebogue, NY (130)

Transient moorings are $1/ft per night. Town of Hempstead has some free transient moorings but you are limited to 48 hours free. $25/night after that. $1500 for a seasonal mooring. Men's room needed to be cleaned. There was a supermarket across the street for provisioning. LIRR (Port Washington) a short cab ride away for $10.

Kept our boat here in 2010, 2010-09-30
Captain: , Baltimore (317)

We kept our boat here for the 2010 season. Pat, the marina manager, is a really good guy. He was very helpful to us whenever we needed something. He has worked in different places in the sound so knows a lot about the area. For the season for our 42 foot boat, it was one of the cheapest places to have a slip. There is an onsite restaurant and it is within walking distance of grocery stores, west marine, movie theaters, ace hardware, and many restaurants. You can also easily take a $8 cab ride to the train station at port washington, which then takes you into Penn Station in NYC. Louis's restaurant, which is a dinghy ride away (or a water taxi), has awesome seafood mac and cheese and a great outdoor deck.

There is only one men's bathroom and one woman's bathroom for the whole marina. The bathrooms are showers/heads combined, and not that nice. We had depth issues with our 6' draft in the slips we were assigned.
The owner is not very friendly. A whole season there and he barely said a word or looked to us.
Getting work done on your boat is pretty expensive there, but I am assuming anything around there is expensive.

There are supposedly a few free mooring balls in the bay right here on a first come first serve basis. So, if you are staying for a couple nights that is a great option.
