Reviews for Louisville Waterfront Park Public Dock
very good spot, 2016-07-25
Captain: , Beaufort NC (500)

Louisville obviously loves boaters, we stayed here 6 days on good floating docks, free 50 amp and water, behind the island helped with the wake issues. Safe sharing the dock with the water police! A bike ride into the part of Louisville where restaurants, museums and bars are located but a pleasant ride. The city has utilized the waterfront for many events, just go online and submit the form prior to arriving.

Free, Free, Free!, 2016-07-17

John Mills, MO Seascape

Not only free, but wonderful facilities. 50 AMP Electrical, Water, Restrooms, Trash. Great walking area and views of the Big Four Bridge. Enterprise will pick up at the nearby Doc's Cantina.

A very nice free city marina, 2013-09-25
Captain: , Columbus,Ohio (256)

Docks are clean and well maintained. Close to a lot of things downtown including the ballpark.

Protected somewhat from wakes, but there was a lot of debris in the water around the dock when we visited.

Great Free Dock, 2013-08-19
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Stayed there in Oct 2009. Docks are in a public park that is monitored and maintained. Restaurants are in walking distance. Expect a visit from police asking if everything is alright and passing out info when we were there. It also serves as the police dock, usually unmanned. Free to stay with good electric service and water. There are restrooms in the park adjacent to the docks but no bathing facilities. But hey, it is free with a call to the posted phone number. Floating docks are in great repair.

Great dock, great access to city, great place to meet other boaters, 2013-07-10
Captain: , Louisville KY (387)

These are great floating docks with concrete decks. Depth is greater than 10'. First several slips have 50A hookups. Permits required from city of Louisville at 502-574-3768. Best of all they are free! Only reason no five star was given is a pumpout station is not available

Very protected and Safe Free Dock With Power and water, 2012-09-25
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Free but a hike to downtown. float may collect in the slips so beware.
Make sure to call Waterfront Development ph 502-574-3768 to get permission to overnight. No problem, they just want your name, cell number, boat name and length of stay. Enterprise will pick up here and Louisville is a great visit as well as Frankfort 45mins aways by car. Bourbon Trail, Ali Center, Churchill Downs, Old Louisville a must see with many historic homes, Art is everywhere is the City, be sure to check out the 21C Museum Hotel, Louisville Slugger Factory Museum, and Belle of Louisville is the last remaining Steam powered stern wheeler. Across the river is the Howard Mansion Steamboat Museum a worth while visit. A very nice City to Visit

Fills up early on weekend evenings., 2012-08-29
Captain: , Prospect, KY (490)

Louisville Waterfront requests that you call to make "reservations" for overnight 502-574-3768. Unattended, but convenient to restaurant overlooking. 50A electric available.

Nice dock and its free, 2012-06-28
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

We stayed 3 nights. Very busy on Margarita Monday at Tumbleweeds. Margaritas are .99 from opening until 8pm. Patrons, mostly 20 somethings, like to drink outside on summer days. Waterfront Wednesdays, live music in the park, is also a busy night. At both events the crowds were well behaved. Dock is in great shape and clean. Quite a little walk to get to the Trolley (free) to get into the downtown area. Download the Trolley's map for the closest trolley stop to the park dock and the location of the local attractions on its route. Churchill Downs is beyond the boundry of the trolley. Took a cab there. A $25 ride for 2 of us. More than we expected. Caught a bus back. The bus stop was on 4th and Central just a few blocks from the race track. We will stop at these docks again.

Nice overnight, 2010-07-23
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

This dock is very nice and free except during Ky Derby Festival Week. You are on your own docking as there is no one there to assist. Should not be a problem as this area is behind an island but current could be a factor if the Ohio River is running faster than normal.

Enter from the West and do not cut the island point short as there are submerged wrecks.

Tumbleweed restaurant at top of steps.

Have stayed here 3 times over the past 2 years. Nice area to walk around. Call the posted number to check in.
