Reviews for Louisbourg Recreational Wharf
"Recreational" Wharf????, 2013-07-06

While both our cruising guide and Activecaptain reported that this wharf was for recreational vessels, there was absolutely no room here, due to commercial fishing vessels occupying every available spot on both sides. We anchored and dinghy'd in.

Less traveled spot, 2010-08-20
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (1057)

This is a less-frequented cruising spot, but an easy and deep approach, suitable for any size boat since cruise ships call here on occasion. The recreational boat wharf is 8 ft high at MLW, and there's 4-5 ft of tide so it can be cumbersome. We tied stern to the adjacent floating dock that was occupied by local boats, and were able to use it for access. Local folks are friendly, the folks at the RV park behind the dock drove us out to the Fortress and picked us up when we called, said we could use their facilities no problem. Only 20A on the wharf and it was dead. But you stay for free, and very convenient to things in town. The Fortress is a must-see, allow a full day. We enjoyed a show at the playhouse featuring local talent, very entertaining. Not sure I'd come by boat again, would come from Baddeck with a rental car, but we enjoyed our stay and spectacular weather had much to do with that! For a run from Sydney southwest, it's a great stopover.
