Reviews for Longboat Key Club Moorings
Wonderful full service marinal, 2016-11-15

Have been coming here for many years. Only gets better. Couldn't imagine a better spot or friendlier staff!

Not a Resort Type of Person Review, 2016-07-30
Captain: , Apollo Beach (161)

Longboat Key Club Moorings
Reading the other reviews and I am hesitant to post mine. Perhaps it is because my wife and I are not resort people so take this into account reading my review. As resorts go this has all the usual amenities although spread out along Longboat Key. All the staff were friendly and helpful and maybe it's me or the fact it was July but it felt impersonal. The entrance is well marked and the basin is well protected. Fixed wooden and cement docks nothing fancy but with lots of maneuvering room. We were given a great slip right near the marina office and restaurant. Not much around the marina but a shuttle will take you south. With permission the shuttle will run north but you have to ask otherwise they recommend Lido Key Taxi. Beware of this service and I'm surprised the resort recommended them. The so called taxi that picked us up was unmarked with no meter. The 4 mile ride ran us $25 the excuse given was it is Longboat Key on a weekday. We ate off resort at Euphemia Haye House. Really looking forward to it but unfortunately bland overcooked duck and fish. The best part was the "Loft". Great deserts and drinks. I would come back for this but be hesitant to order a dinner. The entertainer in the Loft sang calypso songs and the entire bar laughed and sang along. We had appetizers and beer for lunch at the resorts Sands Beach facility. Again disappointed with the value. Not just my opinion. Talking with some of the resort staff they couldn't believe we ate at the Sands and not down in the Circle. I will say the conch fritters were excellent but compared to the next day when we stopped at River Reef & Grill (Manatee River) and had the best Red Drum sandwiches ever for a fifth the price of the fritters made me remember a fool and his money are soon parted. I can't review River Reef because our boat is too large to fit a slip there but I can say this is a very personable place. When going to pay for our sandwiches I discovered I didn't have my wallet on me In paniced. No problem came the response, come back with the money later. Trusting a stranger showing up in a tiny rubber boat. That takes heart and a belief in the goodness of people. Not sure why we are not resort people but I know price doesn't equal value. I wish I liked resorts more because the other reviews sound so wonderful makes me wonder what's wrong with me. I try resorts ever so often and I will visit Longboat Key Club again when the Euphemia Haye Loft and their wonderful deserts bring me back. Hoping I have a better experience and a more positive review to post.

Truely First Choice, 2016-07-13
Captain: , St Petersburg, FL (115)

First class in every way. Beautiful facility well maintained with professional staff. First time here, will be back!

Our home port, 2016-06-18
Captain: , Longboat Key FL (30)

So I might be biased. BUT, beats Ocean Reef and South Seas. Has more of everything. Courtesy van service to St. Armands. Walk to Publix, CVS, and restaurants. Complete resort with golf, tennis, spa and multiple dining options. Very Knowlegebale and helpful staff. Well marked deep straight channel directly of ICW market 15.
This is the Gold Standard we measure all other marinas against.

Management response:
Thank you for the very kind review! We sure appreciate you taking the time.

Absolutely first cabin., 2016-05-22

Great folks (Pete the dockhand and especially Anita M, the concierge). Facilities and service are impeccable.

Wonderful Weekend, 2016-04-24
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (105)

This was our first time at Longboat Key Club Moorings Marina. We have a modest express cruiser, but were treated like we had the largest vessel in the marina. Anita, Jennifer and the rest of the staff were great, starting with making the reservation, to help docking and then accessing the amemities. The marina is easily accessible from the ICW in Sarasota Bay with very visible channel entrance markers. The Portofino and Tavern restaurants offered a good variety of choices from the menu. The shuttle service was timely taking us back and forth from the resort to the marina. The slips had all the connections - shore power, water and cable. Wifi connection was also very good. We can't wait until we can get back.

A True Resort, 2016-04-04
Captain: , Dunedin (50)

We just enjoyed our 4th trip to the Longboat Key Moorings. Much has been said about the beautiful facility, location, services and grounds, all true. I will add that the Anita (marina concierge), Jennifer, Cassandra and the rest go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

We have a small family and are not a mega yacht or fancy club members, but you wouldn%u2019t know it by the way they treat you here. There is something for everyone. Though I sadly forgot his name, the dockhand that helped us was so patient with us and gave us a great tip of exploring the channel that runs south from the marina entrance (kayaks or idle speed dinghy). It is protected, beautiful and worth exploring.

A shuttle ride to the beach (it would be a hike to the gulf side property which is actually pretty far south of marina) gave us a nice taste of the beach and sand before happily returning to the quite of the marina. Free bikes and great paths a nice treat as the grounds are expansive and beautiful, and there%u2019s a Publix is right at property entrance if the well-stocked and reasonable marina store doesn%u2019t have what you need.

The only regret staying here is having to leave%u2026but can%u2019t wait to return.

The best we have ever stayed, 2016-04-03
Captain: , Lakeland (10)

We have been to the Moorings several times, alone and with groups. The facilities are excellent and staff is very freindly and helpful. You are not stuck at the marina as at most places. They have loaner bikes and a shuttle. We compare all other marinas the Longboat Key Moorings.

World Class!, 2016-03-16
Captain: , Oxford, MD (610)

This is our second review and third stay. We did return last year for 3 nights. This year we booked for a month and overlapped with Gratitude. There is almost nothing to be added after their review. Perhaps the easy walk or complementary shuttle to Publix and CVS. The shuttle will also take you to some of the area restaurants off-resort property (including St Armand's Circle). And again, kudos to the staff who add the icing on the cake!! Our first review: We only stayed one night on our way to Tarpon Springs. Will definitely be back. We have stayed at other marinas this expensive but none of them comes close to the level of service found here and the beauty of the place. Other boaters were welcoming and the staff is world class. Had good handmade pizza and caesar salad at Portofino - very enjoyable. We took advantage of the free coffee and muffins which were very good and the free Sunday paper. Did not get to use facilities but we will, in future, because we will definitely return. THANK YOU s/v Laura Louise, we will stay three nights next time and mention Active Captain!

Outstanding!!, 2016-02-26

"Gratitude"

We originally planned on staying here a few nights. By the end of the first day we extended our stay for two weeks, and wished we could stay longer. This is not your typical marina, it has so much to offer: Right at the marina there is a beautiful pool, hot tub, impeccable bathrooms, showers a sauna, a great restaurant "Portofino" and "The Tavern". And if you golf, there is that too, 16 tennis courts, and complimentary bicycles. Pump out at every slip upon request. Complimentary concierge service.

Drive 3 miles (or take the complementary shuttle that runs from 7:00am to 3:00am), to the Longboat Key Club Resort, and you have available a fitness center, full service spa, another golf course, and three more great restaurants. Have lunch and dinner (until sunset) by the pool, or spend the day on the beautiful private beach where lunch can be delivered to you, while you lounge on the complimentary cushioned loungers with umbrellas.

St. Armonds Circle is a bustling town center with rows of shops and restaurants.

Can't wait to come back for several months next year.

At last, but not least: Everyone at the marina, from dockhands to the office staff: Jennifer, Dennis, Barbara, Anita and Tina, all extremely friendly, helpful, kind and always greet you with a smile.
This is paradise.

Wonderful Staff, Great Amenities, Great marina facilities, 2016-01-27
Captain: , Houston (130)

We have 6' draft and had no problems within the channel approach or marina. Great help with dockhands! Great amenities, Jennifer, Tina, Anita and all of the staff went above and beyond for anything. Our dog was treated 1st class with special homemade treats every morning! We would definitely come back when on this side of Florida!

Great Stop!, 2016-01-05
Captain: , Harrison TN (50)

We echo all of the previous positive comments. And to confirm, they will honor the "buy 2 and get the 3rd night free" deal if you mention Active Captain. As well, if you cannot stay 3 nights, a looper rate of $2.25/ft is available to Loopers. Great service, terrific facility.

First time - won't be the last, 2016-01-05
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (20)

We were here for five nights from 12/30/15 until 1/4/16. This was a first time here and we had a great time. Facilities are top-notch and the staff, especially Anita Muheljic, is outstanding. The only change I would make is a snack-type eatery at the marina (ice cream, burgers, sandwiches) like at the Resort down the road. That's a minor item, and does not detract from this first-rate facility.

Looking for a Resort?, 2016-01-02
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

While everthing is in good repair, easy to get in and out of, uniformed staff to catch your lines, none of that is the primary reason to spend time here. Long Boat is about the resort experience. Lots of restaurant and ammenity options all within the resort. The included transportation to St Armonds Circle was a nice touch. When looking a cost remember you are getting way more than just a slip.

Great Service, 2015-12-31
Captain: , Tarpon Springs Fl (10)

This our second time here and it was as good or better than the first. The facility is awesome and the staff is unmeasurable. would highly reccomend.

Excellent Choice!!!, 2015-12-18
Captain: , Crystal River, FL (21)

We stopped in for two nights to let inclimate weather pass. It is a luxury marina in a resort setting! The staff was exceptionally helpful and accomodating... and extremely pet friendly, including the gourmet dog treats prepared daily by one of the restaurant chefs! Longboat Key Club Moorings will definitely be a frequent future stop for us. And if you stay two nights, mention ActiveCaptain and a third night is complimentary!

Fantastic spot, 2015-11-02
Captain: , palm harbor (160)

A nice protected marina with great staff on the docks and at the ships store. Clean and maintained on the entire property. Shuttle runs to beach and st armands. Decent wifi. Tina at the service desk can get you parts or arrange service through their staff or others as needed. This is our new permanant location for our catamaran. Keep up the great work.

The best we have seen on the Gulf, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Winter Park, Florida (103)

Very nice staff and clean. Full bathouse and an outdoor pool. There is a shuttle to the Longboat Key Club where you have access to the facilities there. We will definetly dock there when heading back this way.

Very impressed with the marina/resort facilities and staff!, 2015-08-23
Captain: , Venice (208)

We were here for 3 nights a few weeks ago and would have stayed a week or more if we could. It is truely a world class marina and resort. Great restaurants and there is golf, tennis, beach, pools (two of them) and shopping.

Awesome Get-Away!, 2015-07-02
Captain: , St. Petersburg, Fl (11)

Beautiful Marina and Resort with great amenities. Jennifer, Tina and staff are fabtastic. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a touch of class while on the water.

Very Enjoyable, 2015-04-23
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (675)

Really had a good time here. Great Marina with deep water and easy access off the GICWW. Very well kept, nice pool, and good restaurant. More restaurants in other section of the resort 3 miles. Marina provides great shuttle service to and from other resort area, various places to eat and shop throughout the area. God bikes to use included in your resort fee. There is a very nice laundry. Great place for dogs. A lot of places to walk the dog and convenient pet waste bag stations. Great bike trails to all areas inside and outside the resort.

Great Marina/Resort!!, 2015-04-20
Captain: , Annapolis (1465)

WOW!! There's not much to add to all the previous 5 Star reviews. Had a wonderful two days here.

The $20 resort fee is well worth it... Free shuttle service anywhere, pools, towels, beach cabanas right on the Gulf, etc.

Wonderful staff both at the marina and the Resort. Thanks Jennifer and everyone else!

More than a 5 star marina!, 2015-04-02
Captain: , cruising (591)

We cruise full time (mostly from the Chesapeake in the summer to Florida in the winter) and have just returned for our 4th season to Longboat Key Club Moorings. We feel like family coming back, staff is the same every year and we have some great boating friends here as well. Jennifer and her staff are helpful both before and during our stay. A couple things I would add to the recent reviews are the terrific loaner cruiser bikes (which were brand new last year), pump outs are right to your boat (only cost is a tip), the terrific bocci ball court, warm pool and warmer hot tub, and we also enjoy "burger night" on Mondays at one of their site restaurants, the Tavern.

Simply wonderful!, 2015-03-29
Captain: , Zanesville, Ohio (100)

We spent two nights here on March 26 & 27, 2015 on a chartered 50 foot trawler. The staff was very helpful and put us at convenient slip 04 on I dock. The pool, hot tub, bicycles, shower room and wonderful restaurant were in super close proximity. The staff shuttled us to St. Armand's Circle for shopping and other dining options. The permanent residents on the premises were friendly. We will most certainly return. On Midnight Star, from Ohio.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 2015-03-23
Captain: , Paris Landing TN (636)

all can say is wow! expensive, but wow! $2.75 a boat foot(35ft min) plus $20 a day resort fee. but you are treated like royalty. shuttle service to where you want, when you want. make sure you mention active captain and you stay 2 nights and get the 3rd night free. Pool, hot tub, showers, laundry, numerous restaurants, shuttle to the beach and other clubs, publix at the front gate. nice bar onsite and free coffee and muffins in the morning.

Long term stay, 2015-03-03
Captain: , Chicago, IL (998)

Beautiful marina within walking distance to Publix & CVS, public beach, post office, tennis & golf. You can lease a slip directly from the marina and take advantage of the resort amenities, or if you plan on stying long term you can lease directly from an owner (but you will not have access to resort amenities). Fixed docks are in good shape, wifi is OK, Comcast cable TV available. Easy access from Sarasota Bay with 6-10' depths on approach. Shuttle van will drop you off & pick you up from just about anywhere on the island (no charge, available to anyone in the marina, just tip your driver). Coffee, newspaper & muffins available in Ships Store every morning. Roomy laundry facility with big folding table & laundry carts. Trash cans on dock, staff empties them out every morning. Bike paths line Gulf of Mexico Drive. We love it here!

Management response:
Thank you for the kind words! We are glad you had an enjoyable stay...enough to share it! Best, Jennifer

Extra Nice!, 2014-12-07
Captain: , Destin, FL (160)

If you want a very attentive staff this is the place. Not cheap but they tie up your boat, hook up your shore power, and look nice while doing it. Free loaner bicycles. Publix and a drug store within walking distance. The place is extra nice!!

Management response:
Thank you for the kind words! We are glad you had an enjoyable stay...enough to share it! Best, Jennifer

Beautiful facility, 2014-11-23
Captain: , Ottawa, Ont Canada (10)

Good docks--great service--but be warned--there is an additional $20 resort fee/per day --on top of your mooring fees. When we reserved we were not warned about these--and checking in at the desk when we arrived we were not warned either--would have gotten a shock with an additional $60 charge after a 3 day stay---but iot is a beautiful resort with lots of amenities.

Management response:
Thank you for the kind words. Very sorry that you were not told about the resort fee. We have reviewed with our staff. Thanks for the heads up. Best, Jennifer

Great Staff & Super Facility, 2014-11-19
Captain: , Palm Harbor, FL (30)

This is a well run, top notch facility with a friendly and helpful staff. From the moment we arrived and were helped settle into our slip by eager and responsive dock hands to the wonderful pool and super clean bath and showers. On-site restaurants and a fully stocked ships store to complimentary shuttles back and forth to shopping.

Management response:
Thank you for sharing your experience. Best, Jennifer

Longboat Key Moorings best in USA, 2014-09-27
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Great spot. Heated pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, bike storage, within a gated community, Publix supermarket, Bank of America, public library, public clay tennis courts, great walking, beach access, 12 mile concrete footpath follows road, city bus service and CVS all within easy walking distance. Marina has 50 amp service, fuel dock, cable TV, telephone options, very good free WiFi, good cell phone and Att broadband connectivity, very clean restrooms, great place for walking, biking and running. Small marine store on site. Office will order parts and have them delivered next day from West Marine which is located on city bus route located 12 miles away at Anna Maria Island. Very secure safe 24X7. Slips are a condo but can be rented daily monthly seasonally or annually. Expensive but well worth the price.
Only negative is no floating docks other than that the best Marina we have ever been in. Entry channel about 6 1/2 ft at a normal low tide. Easy entry from ICW.
Free coffee and muffins each morning, free paper, free bath towels , free shuttle to Resort facilities as well as St Armen's circle and all the restaurants and great shopping there . $2.48/ft daily includes electric, after 10% Boat UU discount. Terrific help docking boat, great staff attitude, they are a resort and treat you like you are at a resort.

Management response:
We are speechless! Many thanks for your detailed review of our marina. Smooth sailing to you! Thank you.

A litle bit of everything with a super staff, 2014-07-06

Like so many other reviewers, we love this destination. Great staff, reaturants, courtesy shuttle, chilled pool (biggy in July Aug!) golf, bike trails, close to beach, Publix/CVS within walking distance, very quite calm marina, big marina has a nice variety of boats to ooggle :>).

TRULY FIRST CLASS, 2014-03-17
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1533)

This is a resort with all the amenities. The service is fast, friendly and thorough. The docks are in excellent condition, well lit, secure, and very wide. There is a beautiful pool with hot tub and showers. Golf, tennis, restaurants all on site. there is even a shuttle to St Armand's Circle and the Gulf beach. The only thig lacking is dockside pumpout, but they offer a pumpout boat for a $15 fee to pump you out at your slip.

Resort style boating, 2014-03-11
Captain: , Nashville (260)

First class layover in every way. All facilities clean, employees pleasant and helpful, activity choices virtually unlimited. Dockhands helpful and compliant, shuttle compensates for occasional long distance from slip to restaurants and shopping, resort like amenities at every turn. Deserves a prolonged stay for peaceful relaxation and pampering.

A must stop and incredible value, 2014-02-06
Captain: , Hilton Head, South Carolina (533)

I was made aware of LKCM only here on Active. This place is absolutely top drawer and when you factor in the use of the resort and the available discounts, it is the finest stop you can make. Service is truely 'club like' and facilities are ****+. This is a must if you are in the area and are looking for a place for 3 or more nights. Its not going to get better than this. The marina is in top shape, heated pool, golf/driving waking distance, top restaurant, beach, gym..... need I say more. Be here.

Luxury, Luxury, 2014-02-05
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2997)

This is not an overnight stop or a place to fuel up and go. This is a place that needs to be savored and lingered over. The marina facilities are first rate with two excellent restaurants right on site - one casual and one fine dining. There's tennis courts and a pool. If you like to walk or have canine crew that needs to stretch their legs, there's miles of wide walkways, much right along the water. The staff is professional, friendly, and willing to do anything for you. They even have a service department so your boat can be pampered too.

But to really pamper yourself you need to take the shuttle over to the main resort. First, this is not some stand at the corner hoping to get picked up shuttle. You schedule it with the office and you get picked up and dropped off. It'll even take you to a large shopping center nearby for a retail fix.

The resort has everything you could possible want to relax and have fun. Professional tennis courts, a large fitness center with machines, weights, classes, you can even have a personal trainer. The spa is beautiful if you want to really pamper yourself. And of course more restaurants. And if you do decide to eat onboard there is a Publix nearby.

We could only stay a few days due to scheduling but are already wanting to come back for a week or month or maybe the winter! Do not pass this by.

Longboat Key Club Marina, 2014-01-16
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Superb facilities. By far the best laundry facility with 6 brand new Speed Queen commercial front loader washers for $1.25 and dryers that dried in 45 minutes! The bath shower facilities were huge, well lit and clean. The pool was pristine, warm and towels for the asking. Walking trails in every direction along the waterway, golf courses, marina, and neighborhoods. A Publix/CVS/Bank of America at the gated entrance. Stayed 8 days and returned for 3 more! Just wish here were non-community restaurants in walking distance.

Absolutely terrific, 2013-10-19
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2709)

I won't repeat all the things mentioned in the previous 5-star posts. Our location on H dock was closer to the pool and showers than we have ever been - so convenient! Not cheap, but a terrific marina/resort!

First Class Marina, 2013-09-10

Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (195)

Easy in/out; fuel dock; free shuttle to beach resort and St. Armand's; nice docks; pool; everything top notch; somewhat pricey but worth it. Stayed here 3 nights again July 2013. Summer special 3 nights for price of 2. Had dinner at the restaurant, outstanding! Beach facilities the best. Staff extremely helpful and attentive.

Captain: , currently Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4407)

Agree w/ previous comments and rankings; best Publix store I've ever seen just outside the gate [my wife wants to move here just for that!] My only reservation is that it is not closer to Sarasota/St. Armand's Key with their wonderful restaurants and shops.

One of the best on the Gulf, 2013-05-15
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

Longboat Key Club Moorings is one of the finest marinas on the Gulf coast. The docks, while fixed, are in excllent condition with solid finger piers, and in a very well protected basin. The bath facilites are clean and modern, along with a beautiful pool and grounds. The staff is top notch (especially Tina in the service department) -- helpful, friendly and competent.

While many of the slips are privatley owned, staying at Longboat Key Club Mooring in one of their slips, gives you access to the entire resort facility including golf, restaurants and beach. They have a shuttle that runs to and from the resort as well as St. Armand's circle for excellent shopping and terrific restaurants.

Not a cheap place to stay, but first class.

True 5 star resort, 2013-05-04
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

You will definitely be pampered and looked after here, but be prepared to pay for it. On the other hand, you deserve to live like a king for a day or two at least once in a while.

Tony and not a leaf out of place, 2013-01-28

This is a lovely place. It has a golf course. The heated pool, tub, and sauna are great. They have a minimum $100 for transients. That covers boats up to 35'. The staff are very helpful and friendly and they run a shuttle into town for shopping. The place is spotless. There are three restaurants on site, all very high end. This is a resort with all the comforts. I lived in the hot tub during a cold front.

Five star all the way, 2012-11-26

You get what you pay for and this facility is built for the high end with all the services and class that you'd expect for the price. Even if you are the value shopper like we are, this oppulent stop must be experienced now and then just to see how good it can be. You will find yourself feeling very spoiled with all the possibilities at this 5 star marina. Not our normal overnight but certainly worth the visit. Call ahead for details.

Confirmed a great place... leading the way is not only a well protected, designed and maintained facility, but a staff with outstanding attitude throughout a three day stay.

A Helping Hand When Needed, 2011-12-12

Coming out of Long Boat Key anchorage we picked up pot warp and were only able to idle in gear.

Tina, the Service Manager, arranged for a few hours of dockage and a diver to remove the offending float and line. Very reasonable dive charge and no dockage fee!
We were under way again in a few hours.

Had a chance to view all the facilities which were superb! Price was beyond what we would pay for transient dockage

Unfortunate -- Smell, 2011-03-30
Captain: , Isle of Palms, SC (311)

Narrow entrance to a large, concrete-bulkhead lagoon. Lack of circulation, even with bubblers, results in a 'black water' stink, especially along the entire length of the western side. Slips on this side are on piers A through G. Slips are numbered from the bulkhead. If you can, arrange, get a higher numbered slip. Bring $.

Awesome Facility, recommended without hesitation, 2011-01-26

One of our favorites on the West Central coast, 2010-04-18

Long Boat Key Moorings is a first class marina. Bubblers in the basin maintain a slight moving tide which keeps the water clear and clean. Docks are fixed concrete with all of the amenties- 30 and 50 amp service, water and cable TV. Excellent service from the marina staff. The heated pool and hot tub is located adjacent to the docks. Showers are large, private and most important, very clean. An excellent restaurant, Portofinos, is located beside the ship store. A shuttle can take you to the main resort where you wil lfind more pools, restaurants and the beach. Publix is within walking distance. I highly recommend Long Boat Key Moorings if you are looking for a high end resort experience.

Great marina. Everything is first rate. Clean, nice pool, friendly personnel. Port-A-Fino Restaurant on-site is good. They offer a shuttle to Sarasota restaurants and shopping.
The marina is calm and protected. Easy access and departure.
