Reviews for Suntex Marina at Vero Beach
Stars We'll Earned, 2017-07-30
Captain: , Venice, FL (170)

Jim & Karen on "Karen M"
Pleasant, helpful staff make a great impression. Ben and Steve are good dockpersons, but they showed their metal when during a particularly bad storm that was blowing and raining, they docked a large catamaran whose owners needed extra help. When all was safely tied down, Ben and Steve were soaked, but in good cheer.
We'll be back. Great facilities and great folks.

Very pleasant stay, 2017-07-12
Captain: , Daytona Beach (30)

Well managed marina with nice facilites and bicycles available so you can easily reach the Publix about a mile away. Spent a couple months there and it was quiet, friendly, with excellent staff and manager. Well protected, laudry, and a pool.

Bad Review Bad Boater, 2017-05-06
Captain: , Vero Beach (10)

The previous review states of a hazzard in the channel. He forgets to state that his vessel was out of the navigable channel. Suntex Marina the new owners of Loggerhead Marina gave Mr. Ellor directions to stay center channel which were ingnored. Please email me at shaigis@suntexmarinas for a clear picture of his vessel ageround outside the markers. This marina prides itself on great customer service and has hundreds of vessel in it's channel with no incident.

BEWARE!!!!!!, 2017-05-04
Captain: , taylor lake, texas (80)

We entered the channel to the marina. We had to slow down for a rowing crew that cut in front of us. We were pushed to the south edge of the channel by a strong current and NW wind. All of a sudden we hit something and were unable to move. It was the submerged concrete daymark # 11. We had to be towed to Ft. Pierce having sustained a bent prop. Evidently the marker has been down for some time . There is nothing to mark this hazard, nor did anyone warn us of its existence. The maximum depth of the channel is 6' with solid rock under the layer of silt. The daymarks have been tipped over twice in the last year because there is no way to anchor the posts on the underlying rock. We will NEVER stay here again. Marina took no responsibility whatsoever.

Very nice, but..., 2017-04-23
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (415)

This is a very nice marina surrounded by upscale homes. But, the Publix that was referenced in a previous review as being just outside the gate is actually a mile away out the community's gate and not just outside the marina. And, if you are planning to enjoy all that Vero Beach has to offer you will need a rental car.

The staff were very helpful getting us tied up in our slip and the marina has a nice swimming pool, captains lounge, and laundry facities.

Good place to stop, 2017-04-06
Captain: , New York City (91)

The staff are very helpful and friendly, the pool is lovely, and the laundry room is clean. The loaner bikes make it easy to get to shops for anything you might need.
The showers are WONDERFUL.

Very good overnight stop, 2017-03-25
Captain: , Charleston (130)

Stayed for 3 nights waiting for weather to calm down. Very nice facilities with excellent pool and captain%u2019s lounge. Convenient fuel dock with pump out there or at your slip. Marina is well-protected. Publix, CVS, Walgreens are less than a mile away; see marina's comments for other places at the plaza. Easy walk or use a marina bike. Located in the Grand Harbor development with nice walking/biking paths.

nice place to stop, 2017-03-16
Captain: , Milwaukee, Wi. (798)

Publix's is a long 1 mile walk, but got a hair cut at the Barber for 16 bucks...I really look good now! Liquor store right next to Publix's & McDonalds. Pool and two washer/dryers...

Management of a problem, 2017-01-28
Captain: , Bay City, MI (730)

Last night we, along with the boat next to us, we had issues with our shore power. The power would not stop surging. We were concerned it would damage our boat.

Steve was solicitous to resolve the issue the next day. Thank you

Management response:
Dear Captain Glo,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience at the marina and we apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered with shore power. We are so glad to hear that Harbor Master Steve was able to address your concerns and hope next time we will earn 5 stars! Again, thank you for your feedback and we look forward to serving you in the future.

Great quick fuel stop, 2016-12-17
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (513)

Great stop for cheap fuel...2.40 with Boat US discount. Showed 6-7 once we turned into the channel all the way to the fuel dock.

Good stop but check docksize, 2016-11-21
Captain: , Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH (400)

We called for dockage, and when we arrived were placed in a 5 ft finger for our 52 foot trawler. Hadn to try to stern in with severe winds, and ended up bowing in. We could not get off the boat all night. So when you make reservation, specifically ask about the dock you are being assigned. Otherwise everyone was sympathetic and helpful, facility looked good. All Loggerheads are nice!

Come On Down!, 2016-11-19
Captain: , Stuart FL (758)

Having stayed--and enjoyed--previous stays at the VB City Marina, we decided this time to try Loggerhead. It's a different experience but every bit as enjoyable if not more so. Friendly, professional staff; well-protected basin; gorgeous residential (golf communities) environment. Fixed wood piers are weathered but stable. Finger piers are +/- 20', so sufficient when stern-to. Nice pool, nice head. Only down side is distance from town, dining, beach, etc. but Uber can solve that. We look forward to visiting again!

Not a 4 or 5 star marina., 2016-11-06
Captain: , Bristol, RI (386)

They did not answer on VHF channel 16 or 68. Only one dockhand and he had his radio off. The slips have very short finger piers with difficult tying to pilings. The docks are badly warn, the wooden planks are splitting.
The "onSpot" wifi is difficult to log into. The marina handout includes a card with many paragraphs of instruction on how to log in including two passwords. I had to call tech service in order to complete the log in.
If you want to go somewhere after 5 PM, th gates are locked and taxis can not get in without you calling and alerting security. Unfortunately the marina's handouts do not explain this and do not specify the security phone number.
They do have a very nice swimming pool, boater's lounge, and restroom facilities.

This place is awesome!, 2016-09-06
Captain: , Not Currently Applicable (71)

There is a pool and all the services listed in the service tab. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The bathroom/laundry/shower facility is 24hr and excellent Wifi. I believe one review may have indicated these facilities are locked after 5pm. This was not true during our two night stay. Limited domestic beer options are available in dock office along with ice and some frozen treats. Would love to stay here again.

Great protection, surrounded by high end condos, 2016-05-24
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1164)

Very pretty spot just north of Vero Beach. Excellent fuel prices. T/hey believe they will sell more fuel if they keep the price down. Lots of good shopping near by. Friendly dock staff, good docks and strong power. Management wants to marina to be a destination and it shows!!

May 2016 update: Same great place described above. Unfortunately maintenance of the physical plant is slipping and capital needs to be reinvested. Dock planking is deteriorating to the point where wood is splintering badly. Electic boxes are full of bug nests. Same great staff who go out of their way to please.

Still the same great atmosphere, fuel prices, and helpful staff. I'm down grading the stars to four due to the condition of the docks. Planks are splitting and full of splinters. Some planks have been replaced, but most are in dire need.

Love This Place, 2016-05-07
Captain: , South Padre Island, Texas (30)

A well protected basin, easy-in & easy out, located inside a beautiful friendly gated community. Picturesque swimming pool with first class Captains's Lounge with morning coffee and occasional breakfast and pot luck parties skillfully hosted by Harbormaster, Steve Haigis. Along with a great staff (Harry & Derrick), this marina is one of our very favorites. we will be back!

Response from Management, 2016-05-05
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (32)

Dear Captain Satch,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience at our marina. We value your business, and would like to address your concerns as quickly as possible. We work hard to offer exceptional and friendly service, and I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations. Loggerhead Marina - Vero Beach is located in the lovely Grand Harbor community with nature trails and sidewalks provide areas for jogging, walking, and bicycling. We are also less than a mile from the new Publix Shopping Plaza. I hope you will give us another chance in the future and again, thank you for your feedback.

Out in the middle of nowhere , 2016-05-04
Captain: , Tempe, AZ (240)

I was looking forward to seeing Vero Beach, and chose this marina because they said they had bikes. This is 3 miles north of Vero Beach close to nothing. Very few boaters. This was our second Loggerhead marina in 3 days and they seem to be mostly marketing. Good protection and nice shower. Everything is locked up at 5:00. If you do a load of laundry after 5:00 you have to sit outside with the biting insects. Nice people on staff.

stayed 2 nights, 2016-04-11
Captain: , Kent Island, Maryland (115)

Marina staff is very friendly and facilities very clean. there a Publix about 2 miles away. Entrance to canal to enter is well marked we had 7.5 feet in the canal. wish we could have stayed another day to enjoy the heated pool. Marina is well protected. S/V. 5FT draft.

Great Place to stop, 2016-04-07
Captain: , Woodstock, Georgia (409)

We stayed here on March 26, 2016, and as with all the Loggerhead Marinas, our stay was fabulous. The swimming pool, laundry and shower facilities are top notch and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Another marina for you must stay list.

Best Safe harbor on the East Coast of Fla, 2016-03-15
Captain: , Darien Ga (125)

We sailed in and spent 2 months here to stay warm over the winter. The facility is absoutely gorgeous. Add to that the staff is super friendly and helpful, and then there is the harbor protection that is second to none.

This all adds up to make a spectacular experience. During our time they had a Chili cook off, a cruisers pot luck, and several cocktail parties, and the marina staff put on a cruisers breakfast. All unexpected and very appreciated.

Great place to make friends with fellow boaters. And it is very dog friendly. We had two beagles onboard and all the staff made friends with them.

Free pump outs at the slip, ValveTec diesel, excellent heated pool, clean bath house, high speed WiFi that allows streaming of Netflix, Hulu, ect... friendly people, excellent protection, what more could you ask for.

We will definately return for a night, a week or even a season.

Great Harbor is a winner, 2016-02-25
Captain: , Coral Gables (10)

Good value. Helpful staff. Clean. Pool. Protected harbor. I would return in a heartbeat.

*THE* place to be, 2016-02-23
Captain: , Crisfield, MD (70)

Probably the best protected public marina we have ever seen. The basin is totally enclosed and surrounded by condos and substantial houses, offering excellent proteection from winds and waves. It is located in a gated community with security officers and literally hundreds of cameras. It's also halfway betweeen Sebastian and Ft. Pierce inlets so tidal currents are nil.

The staff is exceptional and will do anything reasonable to accomodate. The staff also hosts free weekly social events for guests. The showers, bathrooms and common areas are squeaky clean and modern. There is a REAL pool, not just a hole with some water in it. Wifi was recently updated and is strong and reliable.

The only downside is that it is at least a mile from the docks to the front gate which can be inconvenient if you need supplies and don't have access to a car. But that makes it a whole lot harder for unwelcome visitors or other nefarious persons to access your boat.

We literally checked out every marina from St. Augustine to Palm Beach before settling on this one. It really deserves six stars but the website won't let me do that.

Welll Proected Marina, 2016-01-05
Captain: , Hull, MA (720)

Very nice marina with fixed docks in excellent condition located just off the ICW in a well protected cove surrounded by residential condominiums. The marina has a very nice heated swimming pool, modern and clean restrooms and showers, lounge area with wide screen HDTV, laundry area, etc. The only negative is you definetly need a car/taxi. to get to Publix, restaurants, shops, etc. The property is very big and the front gate is about 2 miles from the marina.

Outstanding Marina, 2015-12-07
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Great stay, we keep our boat here for about 17 months only leaving due to selling our vessel. The proximity to Publix is not as convenient as it used to be since the back gate is now closed due to some extended construction and expansion of Grand Harbor.
Steve and his crew of dock hands, in the time of our stay have been exceptional. The newly purchased waste tank has also made this a plus. The pool and restrooms are always in top knotch shape. The marina is very well protected from the harshest of the winds. We did experience some large tides swings, but that not the marinas doing. Every month there are pot luck dinners and happy hours, not to mention the impromptu dock parties in the middle of the walk ways. You also don%u2019t ever want to miss a hog roasting by Steve or dock master. The marina can be a little boring during the summer months, but once the Canadians return watch out. We look forward to return some day.

Good stop - nice area, 2015-09-13
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Very nice facilities and good access to Publix and many other stores. Management and dockhands very accomodating and competent. Good fuel prices I hear.

The neighbors could've been friendlier! Tho alas, I'm a young guy with a dog, and after a long day on the ICW I probably didn't look like Mr. Rogers.

Great Stay, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (286)

We were here four nights. Great place very clean and well kept. All facilites were top notch and staff very helpfu and on the ball.

Best Choice for stop in Vero Beach, 2015-06-02
Captain: , Deerfield Beach, FL 33441 (60)

Great location, helpful fuel attendant and dock hand, nice facilities. Easy access to slips with wide finger piers. Clearly a step up from the city marina. Close to a few restaurants (nothing fancy) and a Publix for re-supplying essentials.

Fuel and Grocery, 2015-04-07
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

It's just off the ICW so it's an easy choice to make if you are going north or south. Finger piers are only 20' so plan on backing into your slip.

Excellent fuel stop, 2015-03-29
Captain: , Port Canaveral, FL (10)

Coming up the Ditch, found their low fuel price, stopped in. Extremely helpful and courteous, free hot coffee in the Captain's Lounge, best diesel price we could find in the area. We'll definitely stop in next time we're in the area and need fuel.

Great Marina, 2015-02-19
Captain: , Portsmouth (553)

The marina is well protected with easy access from the ICW.
The marina staff is very friendly and helpful. Marina is very clean, good laundry and fuel services. We will stay here again.

Great place to stay, 2015-02-08
Captain: , Mayo, MD (10)

This well protected basin offers more than just a nice marina. The staff are first rate. Not just helpful, but downright friendly, Steve, Harry, Rick and Neal make staying here a real pleasure. Docking assistance whenever you come or go. From morning coffee and afternoon popcorn, to help with mail, printing, etc. they go the extra mile. Not to mention the weekly happy hour and monthly parties.
The only downside might be lack of TV reception, but with everything around Vero to do, who needs to watch TV!

Friendly and very beautiful, 2015-02-06
Captain: , Port Dover, ON (137)

The marina is very friendly and quite beautiful. it is located in a gated community so security is good and it is well protected on all sides. It has a very nice Captains Lounge and a lovely heated pool. Like many marinas, the office closes at 5:00 so don't expect to get fuelled or pumped out if you arrive late. Docks have 30 and 50 amp power and water. slips are only about 16' long making getting on and off difficult unless you back in. do not walk barefoot on the docks as most of the boards are old and splinters are abundant along with protruding screws. Lacking is cable t.v. and the internet is not strong enough to permit streaming though they charge a fee for wifi.
Washrooms and showers are nice however there is only one WC in the men's causing painful lineups in the morning. Using on board facilities is not really a good option since to have the holding tank pumped it is necessary to move your boat to the fuel dock. In principal this is OK but doesn't really happen very often so, back to the lineup at the loo.
The staff are friendly and there are monthly functions as well as ad hoc get together a on the dock and Captains lounge.

this is a nice marina but does not go much beyond minimum amenities. It falls short in a few areas so I cannot give it more than an average rating of 3 stars

Love this place, 2015-01-30
Captain: , San Diego (60)

Loggerhead Vero is one of our favorite places on the east coast. The staff goes out of their way to be accomodating. The grounds are beautiful and a delightful place to take some good walks. Excellent shopping is close by. Very friendly atmosphere on the docks. They do have non-ethanol gasoline for the tender. We draw a full 6 feet, and we have come and gone several times with no problem. The marina showers and restrooms are upscale and clean, and the cruisers lounge and pool area are very inviting.

Loggerhead--Vero beach, 2015-01-30
Captain: , Henderson Harbor, NY (431)

I pulled in for a night and the next day signed up for a month. A very quiet and serene marina, within an elegant gated community. The marina has a first class staff, starting with the manager Steve and filtering down to all of the very polite and helpful dock team at Loggehead. Its a quiet marina and not close to resturants or stores, without using a cab or renting a car. But if you want to unwind and stay in a first class facility....Loggerhead--Vero Beach is your place I will return and stay at least a few weeks. They have a great pool, laundry room and top knotch rest rooms.

Captain: , Dallas (10)

After our third time returning to VERO LOGGERHEAD, we decided to stay and make this our boats home. Steven, Harbor Master, has always been very knowledgable and helpful with nautical info, both on the boat and on land. The pre planned social activities keep the marina very active and inclusive. The pool is lovely and the Captain Lounge is vey comfortable. The staff of Harry, Richard, and Niel, could not be more accommodating and hospitable. Being a novice boater myself, seasoned, or an older boater needing the little extras, this is by far a delightful place to be. In the short 14 months we have enjoyed being here we have made lasting friends and many more acquaintances. I highly recommend giving them a visit.

still gruff staff, 2015-01-18
Captain: , Wiscasset, Maine (290)

Nice facility, 'tough-guy' attitude from one or two of the staff.

Tax on Fuel is NOT Included, 2015-01-16
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

I thought it was just a fluke, but after reading the recent review I should add that I was charged tax of $27.25 on 120.1 gal of diesel purchased at this marina when stopping on 12/4/14. So much for truth in advertising. Everything else about the marina was great. Maybe this is a failure to communicate.

Came up short., 2015-01-11
Captain: , Charleston, SC (91)

Planned stop according to Active CAPT fuel price page only to learn that their pricing shown did NOT include taxes as they are supposed to. I think loggerhead management knows this. With taxes they are NOT the cheapest fuel around.
Facilities are very nice but women's shower did not drain properly. Washing machines are tiny and always occupied.
The fixed "fingerling" docks, as I like to call them, are short, getting worn and are slippery. I think next time I'll do what the loggerheads do...just keep paddling....

Unexpected pleasure, 2015-01-08
Captain: , Annapolis (3379)

We stopped in here with little notice. They found room for us. It is a beautiful protected facility. Staff is about the best anywhere. They want to be the best and they work at it. The friendly staff are always busy keeping things neat and clean. Bathrooms are excellent and very clean. We found it to be a very short bike ride to a large grocery store. Propane exchange is at Walgreens. It was so relaxing after several long days on the ICW, that we stayed another day. As luck would have it that had us there for one of the staff organized pot lucks. Staff provided roast pork we all brought the fixings. Highly recommend this marina when you need a rest!

Great Home Port, 2014-12-09
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (10)

We came for a week and are now into our third year! The protected harbor makes heading north for hurricane season unnecessary. The setting is beautiful, the staff is competent, friendly, and helpful, and the facilities are top notch. For long stays the rates are very reasonable, as is the price of fuel. We feel right at home here, enjoying our fellow dockmates, plus the numerous get-togethers, including monthly events sponsored by the staff. Having a car is helpful (especially for long term stays), but shopping is within reach by bike (your own or loaners from the marina). The pool is heated in winter to 84 degrees. We love it here!

Convenient and Courteous, 2014-11-20
Captain: , Galesville, MD (1341)

We stayed one night on the fuel dock, arriving late in the afternoon and leaving early the next day. Convenient for chores - fueling, water, pumpout, and laundry. FYI - No electricity at the fuel dock which wasn't an issue for us.

Well-Protected and Welcoming, 2014-10-31
Captain: , Auburn, Maine (447)

Kathie M.

Entrance is a little narrow, but plenty of water and very well marked. We've stayed here twice. Crew loves this place. Friendly people, large contingent of Canadians (Do those two things go together? I believe so.) One offered use of his pickup truck if we needed to shop. And, the best pool we've seen at a marina. Really, it's tempting just to end our trip and stay here.

Loggerhead Marina overnight, 2014-10-27
Captain: , Hudson (274)

Well protected marina with nice docks and pool. Publix is close enough for a bike ride and the marina provides free bikes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great place to relax.

Another 5 start Loggerhead Gem, 2014-10-19
Captain: , Jensen Beach FL (40)

Spent one night there going north and another going south on the ICW. We utilized the Loggerhead reciprocity agreement for tennants and it is a real great deal and pleasant suprise to see that all of the Loggerhead marinas meet the same excellent standards as ours does. Vero Beach sits in a protected area in a very exclusive condo complex. No rocking no current to speak of and a very competant staff. Internet is fine and OTA TV stations gets you a few networks.
What makes this facility special is the staff, and group of people that actually stay there. This is a NO ISSUES Marina, in a Condo Complex. Great area to walk, ride your bike and enjoy.

Quite place to stay, 2014-08-25
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

Nice place to sit back and do little. Easy to shop at the Publix with free loaner bikes. Not much close by, took dinghy south to explore and visit beach. Pool was very nice. Found electric to be the most expensive in the last five years of traveling, metered.

Two Months at Vero, 2014-05-03
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (115)

Our stay here was only going to be for a month, but as time went on we wanted to extend our stay. We enjoyed the marina and its facilities, especially the pool and the Captain%u2019s Lounge with its coffee, tea and popcorn. We found the staff (Steve, Harry, Neil & Rick) to be very helpful during our stay at Loggerhead. We made many new friends while at the marina, and took advantage of seeing the local area utilizing the free GoLine Bus Transit System. We were able to ride our bikes to the Publix (just out the back gate) and ride either north to Sebastian or south to the Vero Beach area. The beautiful neighborhood around the marina provided 3 miles of walking sidewalks where you can stop and view the manatee%u2019s and a variety of birds. We already have our reservations for 2015 and look forward to our return.

Loggerhead Marina - Vero Beach, 2014-03-22
Captain: , Danville, NH (10)

This has been a great little find and I am sorry that we only have one night to stay here. We on Dream Chaser will definately come back. Very clean, great pool and awesome people both working here and living here.

One of the best anywhere, 2014-03-13
Captain: , Christmas Cove ME (150)

We have been at Loggerhead for varying lengths of stay for four years now and cannot say enough good about the facility, the personnel and the surroundings. Five star ammenities and reasonable prices. Steve, Harry and Richard make sure that everything here is bristol fashion and friendly.

Vero's best kept secret, 2014-03-10
Captain: , baltimore md (644)

Though we had not planned it we really enjoyed our months stay in February. The heated pool was great. The boaters room was great, along with the grill it provided the setting for many impromptu get togethers. The laundry faciilities are top notch and the marina and surrounding grounds are beautiful. We had a car while we stayed here that made trips to town easier and you don't want to miss Vero Beach! We dealt mostly with Steve Haigis and found him very accomdating. Over the air TV is a challenge but you can get ABC and CBS with a little antenna adjusting. Pump outs are free you just drive over to the fuel dock and help yourself. Valvtec fuel there too. Warm weather, nice town, great marina and fun people. We enjoyed it.

A clean marina, but they could offer more..., 2014-03-09
Captain: , Ocracoke, NC (70)

It was a very clean marina, but the dock master kept us at the fuel dock our entire stay which didn't offer shore power, but charged us for the service anyways. Town was not very close, it was a 5 mile bike ride into town and though they offered courtesy bikes, but the seats weren't the most comfortable. If you decide to take a cab I guess it wouldn't be as bad, if you're willing to spend the money on one. We didn't see many employee, so service wasn't the most available. Not horrible, but there could be improvments.

Hard to Leave, 2014-02-08
Captain: , Oxford MD (10)

The facilities are spotlessly clean, attractive and very functional. Wonderful pool and Captain's Longe. The other boaters were friendly but respectful of your privacy. The Marina staff could not be more friendly, accomodating and helpful. Fuel and pumpout access is easy. Necessities are a short bike ride away and the neighborhood is pleasant and attractive. We stayed for two months having delayed plans to move on for several weeks. Very Comfortable.

Excellent!, 2013-12-20
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (250)

Stayed here 4 nights to troubleshoot an engine overheating issue. Great marina! Harry and Steve were very friendly and helpful. Gave me number of excellent mechanic to call (Daryl Harmon 772.480.2543). Local livaboards friendly. Loaner bikes rigged with front and rear baskets available to ride to Publix, CVS and other stores about a mile away or just cruise the area (golf course nearby). Amenities are the nicest you will find anywhere, clean and new. Great lounge, big TV, free coffee. Lovely pool. Well marked channel off ICW, easy on-off face dock, easy on-off fuel dock. Fuel reasonably priced. Will stay here again.

Good place to stop for fuel, 2013-12-01
Captain: , Oriental, NC (150)

We needed about 80 gal of diesel and wanted Valvtech so we stopped here. So easy to get in and spin the boat to come right to the fuel dock. High speed pump that fit nicely into our diesel port so we were in and out of there quickly. No mess and a good price with BoatUS discount.

Great choice instead of Vero City Marina, 2013-11-20
Captain: , Where ever the hook is (573)

Vero told us they were full and could only accommodate us day to day, way to expensive so we found this place and tried it. Having stayed at Vero before (Twice) I think this is a better choice. Facilities are nicer, docks are nicer, pool is great, and the shopping is closer for grocery and pharmacy. To top it, you can dinghy to Vero if you want to walk the area nearer the beach. Pricewise, this is comparable to Vero when you stay a month (as we are) so I'd choose this again. Also, fuel prices are lower here.

Loggerhead Marina Vero Beach, 2013-11-19
Captain: , Sandwich (722)

Loggerhead Marina Vero Beach is a Florida paradise. The dock attendants are attentive, friendly, and accommodating. The facilities are spectacular. Hotel quality clean bath/shower area, laundry facility, Captain's Lounge, pool, gas grill, bicycles tucked inside a gated golf/resort community with miles of places to walk or jog directly off ICW. Short distance to a Publix supermarket, Walgreens, and CVS. A great place to relax for an extended stay.

Captain: , Tracys Landing, Maryland (350)

This is a wonderful marina with exceptionally friendly management by Harry, Steve, Neal, and Rick. It is well protected from the elements and kept in pristine condition. This was to be our hurricane hole, but thankfully we didn't need to test the hurricane protection. Thank you everyone for a great summer!

Great stop over, 2013-09-04
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (162)

Just spent 2 night here. Clean marina, great staff with Harry and Neil, enjoyed the swiming pool to cool down. Borrowed the bikes and rode to Publix a 1/2 mile or so away. A little removed from town but we launched the tender and had burgers at the Riverside Cafe one night and a great lunch at the Dockside Grill - just a couple miles away. We will definitley go back for some R&R in the future and explore more of Vero Beach

A First Class Marina, 2013-08-24
Captain: , Merritt Island, FL (556)

This marina is in a quiet and relaxing environment. The staff is very professional and friendly. The lounge, bathrooms, and pool are very nice. There is good WiFi on the docks, and coffee and popcorn in the lounge. We visit this marina once each year and have always enjoyed our stay.

A Real Gem, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Acworth, GA (225)

I can't add anything to the other reviews that has not already been said. The new Publix is open and we took the marina bikes (too lazy to use our own) for the approximate 1 mile trip out the back gate. It looks like there are other new businesses opening in the area so check with the Harbormaster for what is open when you arrive. The facilities are top notch, the boaters lounge has coffee all day and popcorn in the afternoon (an addiction of mine) plus the only place that has cable TV if you want that amenity. Decent fuel prices, 24 hour pump out at the fuel dock, and a great pool make this a can't miss stop.

Excellent getaway, 2013-08-12
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (369)

As a Loggerhead member (Stuart) this was a great getaway for a weekend trip. Facilities are very clean and maintained, and the staff are courteous and very helpful. The reciprocity that Loggerhead has is a wonderful benefit.

We will defnitely be visiting again!

High quality, 2013-05-19
Captain: , Hamilton (348)

Stayed here for several weeks in May 2013. Very well protected excellent port to ride out a blow. Fixed docks with piles were quite a squeeze for our cat (22' beam). Great service and facilities. It is a ways out from downtown so you will need transportation to get anywhere. We rented a car. It is more expensive than some but the price is consistent with the quality of service.

A Different Perspective, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Vero Beach, Florida (118)

We have kept our boat at this marina for four years and will soon return for hurricane season. We're glad to hear that nearly all of the transient visitors give this marina a favorable rating and are pleased to have met some of you during your travels.

As a owner and as an extended stay visitor we frequently encourage other boaters to consider Loggerhad - Vero as a place to consider for longer term, secure storage. Not only does the lagoon offer exceptional wind and wave protection the nearest inlet is roughly 15 miles away limiting average tidal swings to one foot. And, being in a gated community with a narrow ICW entrance, security to our knowledge has ever been an issue.

One of the advantages of this marina is that since many of the boaters have been here a number of years an informal list of good, qualified tradesmen can be found simply by asking some of your dock mates.

True, shopping was not readily available before but, a new Publix has just opened near Walgreens and CVS less than a mile from the marina. The people who are keeping their boats at Loggerhead for months at a time typically have transportation making proximity to shopping a non-issue.

Vero Beach is a low density, easy to drive in, carriage trade community with a number of pleasant restaurants with a wide range of shopping within five or six miles. It also has cultural activities such as concerts, arts & crafts events, an art gallery and theater.

Last but not least, the Loggerhead dockmaster can arrange for free overnight dockage at another Loggerhead location if you are an extended stay guest (a month or more). Only the electrical/water charges are extra if you need to get away.

Whether you are planning to stay over night or you are looking for dock for an extended period, I would highly recommend Loggerhead Club & Marina Vero Beach.

Two stays in Feb were very enjoyable, 2013-03-06
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

Will not repeat the other favorable comments made by others, other than to say that we stayed on 2/20 and 2/27 and found Loggerhead Vero Beach to be a very pleasant marina. First arrival was a bit tricky in somewhat crowded slips fighting the wind, but had superb help from the professional dock staff. Second time was a breeze at the outside face-dock (and because you are well off the ICW there is no wave or current action to worry about).

New Grocery Store Coming!, 2013-01-06
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

This is the place to come and relax away from the hustle and bustle. Everything is upscale with a heated pool, a beautiful captain's lounge with free coffee, popcorn and a large screen TV, nice wide docks, great staff, clean showers and heads, and tons of landscaped paths to walk or bike. The residences that surround the marina are lovely to look at and the gated community means that your stay will be peaceful and secure. It would be the perfect place to leave your boat for a spell with no worries.

As others have mentioned, there was not a grocery or restaurant nearby but that is about to change. There is a large shopping center being built just outside the back gate which will have a Publix, several restaurants, a place to have your hair cut, and other stores not yet announced. We borrowed two of the bikes and rode to the site. It is an easy flat ride on wide sidewalks to the back gate, about a mile total with the last 2/10ths of a mile on a road with a bike lane. The construction was quite far along with the building already up. It will be a terrific addition making this stop even better. We look forward to visiting when we return.

nice Marina but nothing else in walking distance, 2012-12-08

very nice and well maintained, nice pool but there is nothing to do close by, you can walk your dog and thats it

Quiet, well maintained marina, 2012-10-05
Captain: , Tampa, Florida (243)

The staff here are superb. Friendly, helpful in every repect, and knowledgeable. The marina itself is super quiet and is located in an upscale, gated golf community of seasonably occupied homes. We left our boat here for a few months and never once worried about its safety. Nice pool. There are a handful of liveaboards in the marina and all are very friendly. The marina itself has periodic parties, cook outs and the like so if you are lucky enough to be there when one is planned, don't pass it by. The downsize to the quiet atmosphere at the marina is the absence of nearby restaurants, grocery stores and the like. I would return and recommend the marina to others.

Second Choice Marina, 2012-07-16
Captain: , little river (269)

Came in on June 28 about 30 min after closing. No one to meet us. Very shallow in the marina saw 5'. Well marked approach. Dock in good shape. Some minor maintainance issues nails protruding. Bathrooms were very nice, clean and well maintained. The pool was nice. The staff were friendly but no extra service to rate 4 stars.

Nice and QUIET., 2012-06-30
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, Fl. (200)

The staff was very pleasant and helpfull. You could hear a pin drop in this marina, so if you are looking for a quiet place to relax, for a day or two,(which we were) you won't be disapointed. On ths down side, only one sink and one toilet in the mens facility and NO cable. :(. Would recomend the place though and would stay again.

Excellent Facility, 2012-04-24
Captain: , Blaine, WA (70)

Very nice, well maintained, great staff. Well protected. Stay in center of entry channel, especially at low tide. Touched bottom near marina entry (6 foot draft) departing at low tide.

Great folks and super protection., 2012-03-14
Captain: , Vero Beach Florida (235)

Heated pool, near shopping with a great staff.

Great Facilities, 2012-01-29
Captain: , New Bern, NC (180)

The marina is sheltered and very well maintained, staff is very courteous, showers/laundry very clean. Pool and Captains Lounge are top notch. They offer free internet for up to three days. Great walking trails.

Downsides: The marina is located in a very secure gated community and a mile or more form the gate. You can arrange rental car from nearby airport to reprovision.

We will stay here again.

A Hospitable Gated Community, 2012-01-12
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1422)

The peace & quiet of a private community comes at a price -- absent provisioning: no groceries nor restaurants nearby. But it beats the hustle of Vero Beach as described by those using that venue.
Dog friendly, great ammenities and facilities. We'd go back unless the rucksack needed filling.

Gated community, 2012-01-08
Captain: , Greenville TX (580)

The dock and marina facilities are first rate. The pool is nice. The condo folks that live around were generally nice also. However, it's far far away from anything which limits it's value to cruisers. If you don't need to provision - great place to stop for a while.

our favorite home away from home, 2012-01-05
Captain: , Charleston, SC (101)

We have made it a habit to stay over at this marina on the way to or from the Bahamas or South Florida. Great staff, quiet and beautifully kept up facility with pool and Captain's lounge. A friendly and happy contingent of Canadians "overwintering" always have some fun stories for visitors.

Fuel dock and pump out are very convenient and there is always someone to help with lines.

Highly recommed it.

First class marina, 2011-12-05
Captain: , Stuart FL (835)

Dec 7 2011

There is a narrow channel in to the marina/ You do not want to get our of this channel. There was strong cross breeze as we approached. No problem but had to pay attention to not get blown out of channel.

Once in the maring the pumpout and fuel dock is very easy to get to. Staff friendly and quite good at line handlinhg. Laundry and captains lounge first class. Very nice pool.

The marina is inside a gated community and we were there for the night only so did not do any exploring in the area.

Certainly recommend this marina and its staff.

Great place to stop., 2011-02-17
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (531)

When we are in this area we always stop here. It is a lot less hectic that the popular City Marina in Varo Beach. The entrance channel is very narrow and can be a challenge in a strong blow. Look before you enter, you really do not want to have to pass someone coming in the opposite direction, if you can help it. In fact, there are some very large boats in this marina and passing one of them may not be possible.

Once you get into the marina, protection is excellent. The fuel dock is just to port as you enter and there will be plenty of friendly help to get you tied up.

Should you decide to stay for a while you will get full access to the club, This includes a wonderful heated pool, a clubhouse and the best bathrooms that I have seen in a Florida marina.

Wi-fi service is not great, but I was able to get a pretty good Verizon air card connection.

The marina is located within a large gated community and is a long way from anything. Do not plan on shopping or finding a restaurant within walking distance. The ships store has a limited selection. If you are looking for more attractions, you are better off in Varo Beach.

This place is not cheap, but if you like friendly people and some peace and quiet, it is well worth it. Highly recommended.

Very friendly very clean, 2010-05-28
Captain: , Saint Cloud, Florida (108)

Uniformed staff are there from the moment you tie up to the fuel dock. Ready to help tie you off and are very helpful answering any and all questions. Ships store could use a little more diversity and depth, but other than that my wife and I had a very nice overnight stay here. Had use of the showers and pool. Plugged into 30amp service and enjoyed a nice air conditioned stay aboard our yacht. Prices very reasonable.

Great place to keep your boat, 2010-01-27
Captain: , Lake Wales, FL (20)

The harbor is very well protected, the docks are very well maintained, good security, the staff is excellent, the showers are the best I've seen in 10 years of cruising. There is a nice heated pool and a captain's lounge with coffee and popcorn open from 8am to 5pm. Free wi-fi in and near the captain's lounge and sometimes on our boat on B dock. Laundry and a small ship's store also on site.

It is a great place to keep your boat, but may not be the best transient stop. The marina is located in a large gated community with no restaurants or shopping nearby except a new Walgreens and CVS a little over a mile away. If you need a laundry stop, this is a great place to hang out by the pool and do laundry.

Nice Marina, 2008-05-03
