Reviews for Lock 34 Fenelon Falls, Parks Canada
Everything but showers, and nice town, 2016-07-13
Captain: , Hallowell, Maine (240)

We got good wifi from the visitor center, if you can get close enough which not everyone can. Very pretty, nice biking trails. S

One of the better lock wall stops., 2016-06-21
Captain: , Houston, Texas (970)

Power and water on the upper east side. Wifi at the Visitors Center right on the wall is good if you get there on one of the four days a week they are open so you can get the password. I suggested they give the lock masters the info for when they are not open. (ffccguest). They agree that the password needs to be accesssable to boaters. Also agreeded they needed to have a map of the businesses in town.
Everything we needed was close. Directions from the VC...
Sobeys grocery, bakeery, deli - Go to the bridge, right, 1 block, on the left.
LCBO - up May St. 1 block to dead end, turn left, 1/2 block
Laundromat - head toward LCBO, right on Albert 1/2 block (across from library). Best one yet.
Ice Cream - Slices and Scoops next to the lock.
Thai Restaurand - 1/2 block up May St.
Canadian Tire - head for Sobeys and keep going on Lindsey St.
Wall gets a bit bouncy in a strong northwest wind.

Nice quiet stop, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Woodstock, Georgia (359)

We stopped here on June 19, 2016. Nice long wall with power and water. Once boat traffic stopped for the day, it was very quiet. Very close to town with good resturants close by.

Don't Miss the Music, 2015-08-25
Captain: , Milwaukee WI (547)

If you are in town on a Friday night be sure to lilsten to the jam session at the Sweet Bottoms Coffee shop in town, a short walk from the upper wall. They've been doing it for 4 years and the talent is terrific!

The wall was full..we got the last opening before the blue line and there were no hookups available. Still worth it for the nice setting and lovely evening in town.

Nice stop on the wall, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

Wall was crowded so we did not get power but still enjoyed our free stay here. Wifi is free and works well if you walk to the visitor center and ask for passcode. Nice shops. Huge green space/park to walk dogs across bridge. Don't overlook the small historic Lock Master building.

Great place to stop, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Ottawa (532)

Stayed on the lower grey line. Very quiet but no power. Swimming was good although there is a strong current.

Great little town, 2015-07-15
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

The lock wall is terrific. One of the few on TSW that provides power and water. And the town is great. First of all the local laundromat (the real one across from the post office) is probably the nicest we've ever visited. Every machine worked, the owner was there and was very service oriented and even drove my wife and laundry back to the wall (a three block trip but he wanted her to be comfortable). And Sharney's diner for breakfast was fantastic. Might be some of the best potatoes I've ever had. And finally, the Thai Restaurant served food as good as any in NYC. Overall a delightful town and park.

Rain and wind, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

We arived just before the storm. The lockmaster and staff were very helpful. This is a busy lock. We got the last water and power hook up at $9 per connection or $13 for both. Morring was 90 cents per foot. Restrooms were clean however, no showers. We had strong winds but our location was protected.

Fantastic stop, 2014-08-21
Captain: , Beaverton (264)

Great place to stop. Was very fortunate to get a spot topside which has power and water (Yeah!). Location is right in town with everything within walking distance (Tim Horton's is a short 5min walk south along the main drag). Lock staff are very friendly, but the restrooms were not in the best shape... I just hope that we caught them mid-maintenance. If you're lucky to get a spot, this is a must stop on your journey.

One of the Best Stops in the Trent Severn, 2014-08-07
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

The electricity and facilities ashore make this lock wall a wonderful place to spend a night or two. Can be very crowded on weekends.

We second the recommendation of ribs at the Cow and Sow. Some of the most tender and tasty ribs we have ever eaten. Would never think of Canada as a top BarBQue destination. Got the full rack - had more than a full dinner left over. Got to enjoy them all over again. And, there is Kawartha ice cream right at the upper lock wall.

Fenelon Falls Has it ALL, 2014-07-27
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

Stayed 7-8-14 to 7-10-14 Be Careful on the approach to the Blue Line Locking Up at High Water. When you come around the corner we had to cross some very fast water and the Blue Line is not long. Lock Master gave us a ride to pick up a spare battery. The staff is outstanding. They permitted everyone to stay over due to very high 30 to 40 mph winds. Throughly enjoyed the new concrete wall with Power and water. $13.00 per receptacle. It is wired right for two 30 amp to a Single 50 Amp. Great Library a short walk open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and more conducive to checking emails and weather than Visitors Center. Capt Helen & Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ!

Great stop, 2014-07-19
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (986)

Great place to stop. Electric & water on the lock wall for a great price. Free wifi from the visitor center, stop in & ask for the code. Good restaurants close by. Many people swimming right off their boats. Museum also very close.

Fenelon Falls Wall, a place to be!, 2014-06-18
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

We spent 3 days and found the lock master (Trevor) to be a real help. $13 for power.

Very nice supermarket on the other side of the lock (10 min). It's a 7 with Wegmans being a 9.

Eat at the Cow and Sow, be warned that when they say "ribs" they mean the regular ribs and the short ribs. So the 1/2 rack will cover your plate, the full rack will feed 3 - 4.

Don't eat at the Dockside, it's badly done Sysco food served by inattentive high-school students. The place next door, Slices and Scoops IS the place to go to for sundae's. Thai place is good (2 blocks away).

The rails and trails runs through the town, so their are good rides in both directions.

Plus you have a front row seat to the houseboat action!

great place to get things done, 2014-06-15
Captain: , Naples, FL (1096)

Power, free wifi from welcome center but you need password, solar powered laundromat two blocks away. Grocery store seems to start slow in the day so it is better to shop there later in day when produce etc has been stocked. We were allowed to stay three days because of weather.

Power, Water, with Nearby Laundry, 2013-10-16
Captain: , Port Huron (423)

Great stop to provision, fill water tanks, do laundry and eat uptown. Clean and friendly. A must stop if you need replenishment or just looking for a nice small town.

Great little town, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Sturgeon Bay, WI (287)

This lock is run with real precision. There is a lot of trafficc but it is handled very efficiently by the staff. We stayed the night and hooked up to power and water. Total price for a 50 foot boat was less than $60. Best deal anywhere.

nice place for shopping and dinner, 2012-09-01
Captain: , Bear DE (694)

This is a great place to stay for max up to 2 days. Supermarket 5 minutes walk, plenty of Restaurants. Free Wifi from Tom Horten if you have a good antenna.

Nice town, lots of activity and expanding, 2012-08-21
Captain: , Mystic (909)

Nice location close to lots of things. Town and Parks are currently adding several more power stands that will be up and running by July 21, 2012.
Stayed again on our return trip. All the electric posts are now up.
Wifi available via the "Dockside Resturant" if you have a receiving antenna.

best stop yet on the TSW, 2012-07-17
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

Fenelon lock is now adding MORE electric and water to the lock walls at the top. We were here today when the crew was installing them at the very end where the tour boat ties up. The charge is $12.80 which is $9.80 for electric and $3 for water....but at least they have water at this lock !!! YEAH ! You are right in town. Everything is close. Post office and laundromat are a few blocks away, restaurants are right along the lock wall, as is pizza shop and ice cream shop. There is a bakery called the The Little Pie Shack....walk to the bridge, then left to the first light (Frances Street) and right on Frances. It is right behind the Beef and Boar/Cow and Sow restaurant.
BUT, this lock is the most popular destination on the TSW because of these great services here and the great proximity to town. Do not plan on getting a space here if you arrive late....especially on weekends. We arrives at noon on a Tues and got the only place available on the wall. So if you are planning on this stop, have a contingent plan on where to go if you cant get in here. But if you can, you will love it. Can easily walk the dog anywhere along here.

New Hydro (electricity, 2012-06-27
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Very nice place to stay. The city has installed electricity and water on one side of the canal. Cost about $12 per night for the utilities (in addition to your parks Canada mooring fee/pass). Nice laundromat 2 blocks. Library with free wifi 2 blocks. Several close restaurants. Good grocery supermarket across the bridge.

good stop to provision, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Newport, R.I. (644)

nice staff and You are within walking distance to the center of town and a short walk to the pharmacy, museum, grocery store.

Great place to stay in town, 2011-08-03
Captain: , Calgary, Alberta, Canada (854)

This prime location with power and water makes for an enjoyable stay for those who like to chat with the locals and other tourists who just come to enjoy the boats going through the locks. It's a popular stop now that it has good power, so the gray line above the lock fills up fast. Talk nicely to the dockmaster and he'll let you stay a second night too.

no room for us on the walls need more space (weekend), 2011-07-29
Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

just before the lock is a gold looper Beta Omega they called us on vhf and we rafted to them on their private dock with 50 amp service. very nice and enjoyable company.

Upper wall with Hydro, 2011-07-26
Captain: , Hampton, VA (389)

This new wall is wonderful with hydro and water at $12.80 per 30 amp. You are in walking distance to the center of town and a short walk to the beach, museum, grocery store or Tom Horton's for coffee. The Visitor Center has free Wi-Fi to use but signal strength is weak if you are at the end of the dock. We enjoyed our 2 day visit on the wall. It fills up quickly during the weekends so plan accordingly.

Now with power and water, 2011-07-18
Captain: , Wilsonville, AL (474)

You'll probably have to get here early to get a spot on the upper wall with new power/water pedestals. We got the last spot when we arrived at 11:30.

Now even better - 2011, 2011-07-12
Captain: , Whitby UK (111)

Town council have refurbished dock above lock / east side! New pedestals provide power and water (around $C12 per night)! Wifi needs WEP - free from tourist office!
Great cycle paths and small beach for swimming on same side!
Quality food store 400yds + Hardware over bridge!
Worth a 2-day stop!

Quiet and pretty place, 2010-08-21
Captain: , Elizabeth City, NC (241)

Stay on the upper side and walk across the dam /power plant to see the falls. Great place to ride bikes.

Nice place to stay, 2010-07-13
Captain: , Tellico Marina (290)

Great Wi-Fi - wonderful dog walks - laundry 1 block away - new big grocery store 4 bllocks away - great antiques - nice place in town
HOWEVER - houseboats gone wild is evident

More to see here, 2009-08-30
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

Seem so be a nice place to stay over. More shops, ice cream and couple of bars. Stay on the top.

Lots of current, 2009-08-18
Captain: , Port Ontario, Lake Ontario (410)

When we went through the blue line was taken up by tourists although that is against the rules. This left us trying to hold position in the river which was very difficult due to the high current. So be careful of the current. We were here just days after the Trent opened so currents were high.

Grreat Location, 2009-07-30
Captain: , Key Largo (5304)

Right downtown Fenelon Falls, just above the Waterfalls, close to Soby Grocery, shopping, museum, tjouristy town. Fun stop.
