Reviews for Lock 26 Lakefield
both quiet and close to town, 2016-07-13
Captain: , Hallowell, Maine (240)

Enjoyed swimming off the boat above the lock, very pretty spot, but also very close to charming town with great bakery and two very good food stores ( the Market is farther down the main street than the supermarket, but has great prepared and local produce) . Wifi at the close by library

Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We camped out here from 6-28-14 to 7-1-14 to avoid all the traffic associated with Canada Day. Really Nice Stay. Quiet, Convenient to town. Short Walk to Gourmet Market and interesting town. Had our share of rental House Boats coming and going through banging steel into the lock wall. . The usual beautiful part/picnic like setting with our own picnic table right next to the Boat. We had a very relaxing time while the world flew by. Capt Helen & Chief Engr Bob Onboard M/Y ALLEZ!

A pretty town and narrow tree lined canal, 2014-07-10
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

We liked this town and recommend this town for a stop. Easy walk to town, very pretty flower lined Main Street. Good breakfast at white restaurant, about 2 blocks past the post office on the south side of the street.

Nice long wall in a quiet neighborhood. No electic but there are restrooms; get key from lock attendants.

Upper lock #26 wall, 2013-06-24
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

Above lock #26 on the long wall. Quiet. No vehicle traffic, some walkers. Easy walk (perhaps 1/4 mile) into town for Kawartha ice cream in containers at the Food Land market (to the right off the bridge) - it is a nice, bit market with everything you'd expect, but who cares about anything other than the Kawartha ice cream. Kawartha ice cream also available in cones and cups at little place at end of bridge. Friendly and helpful lock staff. No hydro or water.

Excelent stop over, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Mystic (909)

Very quiet, only dogwalkers from town come thru there. Town is very close by with groceries, resturants, bank, library, hardware store, etc.
