Additional info:

Approach

Access to and from the marina is via teh fully computerised lock system situated to the south end of the Brunswick Dock. The lock is available to 2-2.5 hours either side of high water with a level of 2 metres or more of water over the sill. A table giving the locking times is set out in front of the tide table section but these should be used with caution as the actual times can be affected by local weather conditions.

Normal operating times are from 06.00 to 22.00 daily including week ends dependent on H.W. times. Requires 24 hours notice to operate outside these times and there is a surcharge for all out of hours locks.

When using the lock call up the lock keeper on VHF Channel 37(P1) using the call sign %u201CLiverpool Marina lock%u201D and the lock keeper will call you in as soon as possible. The lock entrances are controlled by signal lights and these must be obeyed at all times unless directed by the lock keeper.

Craft maneuvering in the confines of the marina must keep their speed below 5 knots.

Groundings have been reported just inside the marina entrance with a draught of 2.1m. Lock and entrance slowly sitling up due to the fact that it is not possible to free flow water in/out of the lock.

The marina claims to have 3m depth, however this depth is reported to be patchy with shallows of less than 2.2 to 2.5m.

Reviews for Liverpool Marina and Marine Services

Access to the marina is restricted as you have to pass through the lock, so plan your arrival and departure times with care - see the separate ActiveCaptain lock marker for full details.

The service at the marina was pretty good - we knew we were arriving after dark so called ahead by phone, the nice lady put together the welcome pack with access card and left it behind the bar. The staff at the marina were friendly and although the electricity wasn't working on the pontoons when we arrived, we mentioned the problem and it had been fixed by the same evening, which was a Sunday over a Bank Holiday weekend.

The location of the marina is excellent, being just 10 minutes walk from Albert Dock and all the museums, restaurants and bars. The bar at the marina itself was fine, though we didn't eat there so can't comment on the food - with the exception of the pizzas, it did look expensive though.

The facilities are what let this marina down. Communal, unpleasant and grubby changing area and cubicle showers which are well past their sell by date. Also, there are only two ladies showers with only one having working hot water.

The huge problem here is the price - 3.30 GBP per metre, plus you have to pay 13 GBP for each lock in and out, plus electricity is on top. For these prices I expect utter luxury from start to finish, and the facilities fall woefully short.

In summary, this was verging on a 1* review, only rescued by the staff and the location. I urge the management to take a step back and a serious reconsideration of what you're offering here.

A friendly and welcoming marina, you do need to check the tides carefully as it is lock access and depending on the height of tides locking times vary between only about half an hour to over 2 hours either side of high water.

Marina owners are currently upgrading the power supplies to the berths. Really need to do something about the silting problems in the marina, the locks and the lock approach
