Operation (seasonal or year-round)
Year round

Additional info: There are often 1 or 2 liveaboards year round but no guarantees on that. The yard is usually full for winter haul-outs. Marina staff is not there on (most) weekends. Sales staff is there on most weekends. Closed between Christmas and New Year.

Reasonably well marked, but depth can be on the shallow side (in the 5 feet range) and there is little margin for error in the channel. Marina tends to be full in season and maneuvering space can be tight.

Tide & current additional info

This marina is in a protected little cove off Marshy Creek. The only current you will find is tidal, and that is minimal.

Yes - You are within 1/2 mile of some wonderful/awful restaurants. Red Eye's Dock Bar for an experience, The Narrows for exquisite (usually local) seafood prepared by a fine chef, Annie's for beef, the Crab Deck if you want crabs on brown paper (don't go there for 'gourmet' anything). Night life in two or three places within walking distance. Be careful on the walk back, the roads are dark.

Bridges Restaurant nearby is reported to be excellent. Happy hour with $6 and $7 small plates and $4.50 wines by the glass. You can arrive by dinghy and tie up to their dock free.

Hotels or motels

Yes - A few at Kent Narrows, and a nice, reasonably priced, Sleep Inn about 2 miles away in Grasonville. Best Western within walking distance as well as a Hilton.

Repair capabilities

Yes - They have the capability to do many repairs. Scheduling is problematic as their dealer boats (Mainship) always get first dibs. Better schedule them way in advance. After the work order is agreed to you will need to stay on them to meet any kind of schedule.

Yes - Make sure you know how your boat should be lifted.

Reviews for Lippincott Marine
Very helpful for rigging, 2015-07-06

Had our sailboat shipped here from erie canal. Very helpful getting it rigged

Good working yard, 2014-06-06
Captain: , Beaufort NC (69)

This is a pretty good yard to do some of your own work - no bottoms. Seems to operate on the "squeaking wheel%u201D principle. New yard manager may lend some organization to project management and focus on commitments. Facilities are good. True Value (this one carries some marine gear) and West Marine nearby.

Tight squeeze - helpful staff, 2012-09-20
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We called last minute for a slip and were accommodated but all they had was the space next to the travel lift so we did not have a quiet, scenic stay, but rather a noisy one until the yard shut down in the evening. We got to practice our seamanship skills due to a very tight squeeze getting in as we were at the very end of the marina basin, but the owner greeted us upon arrival and we had plenty of help getting in and out the next morning. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We did not use any of the amenities so cannot comment on that. If we could stay on an outer dock we would return.

Making an effort, 2012-05-08
Captain: , Kent Narrows, MD (200)

First winter in the yard I asked for mid-April launch and was put in the most remote location blocked in by many boats. Yard manager was hospitalized during the winter and replaced by the previous yard manager coming back out of retirement. Needless to say I was late being launched, but only by a week and a half. Richard Lippincott and the manager were helpful and moved boats to get me in. There was considerable grumbling but the results were quite positive. They also have a new man in the yard, Jake, who worked on my hull; a very positive, knowledgeable and customer oriented employee. I hope he takes over the yard!

Wouldn't go here again, 2011-06-28
Captain: , Delegal Marina (121)

First they told us they had a slip for us (two hours before we arrived). When we got there they had no slip for our boat, and the slip they put us in had only one 30 amp when we had requested two 30 amps. The marina ended up draping a line across the deck of another boat to get us two 30 amp connecitons. The "dock hands" who directed us into a slip, apparently on the spur of the moment, didn't know how to secure a line. When we asked about a water connection, one dock hand told us he wouldn't drink the water. The finger piers were very short and in terrible condition, and making it very hard to get off the boat. Rest rooms are below average and not very clean. Didn't use the pool so can't comment. The guide books say beautiful view. We had a view of a boat boneyard, and there was a lot of noise from the boatyard. Not a nice experience overall.

Friendly Yard, 2011-04-20
Captain: , Ambridge, PA (109)

Original Cyn spent the winter of 2010-11 here in dry storage while having her bottom soda blasted and barrier coated. Also had some prop and shaft work done. We found friendly, helpful staff, and clean, basic facilites. Prices are resonable, and they were flexible about me doing some of the work to help keep my cost down, but I would not call this a DIY yard in the true sense as there are some limitations on the kinds of work you can do. I would do business with these people again.

Decent Facility, 2007-10-16
Captain: , annapolis (183)

Lippincott offers some strong basics: nice clean swimming pool, decent bathrooms, fixed docks with poles and a sling for haulout. The facility is not particularly pretty, and there tend to be bugs. Also, there is little beyond a few restaurants in walking distance. The approach from the water is somewhhat shallow and requires close attention. But it is a nice basic facility.
