One night stay, 2016-08-18
Captain: , Monmouth beach new jersey (10)

The marina is a dump. Staff was really nice but docks need to be demolished .

Very Poor Experience, 2015-08-27
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

We had made reservations by phone several days in advance for our 42' Catamaran. Over several conversations, I was assured they had one slip that would be available for me and would accomodate our 24'7" beam. When we arrived, the dockmaster acted as if he knew nothing about the reservation. I had to practically beg him for information as to what was going on. He finally told me he may have one slip available on the outside dock, but he didn't know how wide the slip was. He requested I try to enter. I would think a dockmaster should know the widths of his slips. Upon entering the marina, I had to constantly ask for more specific directions to the slip. It turns out the slip is about a foot or more too narrow for us to come in. With the bouncing of the docks from the river, this was a dangerous exercise. He then told us he could not accomodate us. How disappointing! Besides the unprofessional manner in which our reservation was handled, the docking experience was handled horrificly. A boater should be given clear instructions upon entering a marina on how to proceed, especially after having to ask two or three times. In the end, it turned out well that they could not accomodate us. The place was run down appearing. There was so much noise (creaking, groaning, and clanging) coming from the bouncing docks that it would not have been pleasant. We were happy to call on the phone and obtain a reservation at a nearby marina. I could not recommend this place, even as a last resort.

Not what was expected, 2015-08-25
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

We stayed here on August 22, 2015. View from Marina is spectacular and great restaurants a very short walk. Staff very helpful. Now for the bad. The wakes from the ferry traffic are a good 3 feet high when they enter the marina. The damage from Storm Sandy has not been fixed. There is no fuel dock, it sunk. Not only is it a rough ride all day long at the dock, can barely stand up at times, but the way the docks are built, the noise they make is like a freight train. The docks vibrate so much it sounded and felt like our engines were started up. Ferry traffic slows down some in the evening. We went to bed around 10:30 and it was still rocking some. Once the ferries stop, water was dead calm and no noise at all. Docks need some repair, watch your footing. I probably wouldn't have been so disappointed if the advertising didn't say a calm location with fuel. Long walk for pets to releive themselves as you can only go out of the security gates at the end of the piers but to re-enter you have to walk all the way out to the end. Their security cards/keys don't work. Would wait till they address the seawall, fuel and dock issues before I would stay again.

WEEKEND STAY OK, 2015-06-15

Great View but oh my, 2015-05-31
Captain: , Haiku, HI (251)

This is a terrific location and quite secure. The problem is that they got hit hard by Sandy and haven't recovered. Some of the docks are sunken or flipped, pilings canted, power stations knocked over, etc and their wave suppression system went bye-bye. We have been here 3 days and it has been rougher at the dock in calm conditions than it was offshore in the same weather or in the NJ ICW in a gale. If you are off the boat each day running around NYC it's not as much of a factor, but it makes cooking onboard diffiult and sleeping before 11pm, when river traffic slows down, a challenge. We have not been at Liberty Landing/Morris Channel marina but we would definitely stop there if we were to do this run again. If you have a very big heavy boat, movement wouldn't be as stressful but for a 36'/10t boat it's been annoying.

is this a joke, 2014-06-15
Captain: , staten island (521)

went on a friends boat we didnt even stay so much wake disturbance it was nutz

I kept my boat here for about a month..., 2013-04-09
Captain: , San Rafael (389)

Most of the marina is very shallow, maybe 4.5%u2019 at low tide. Their solution is not to dredge, put to put a high powered boat in your slip and crank a pit. Well, that only last as long as the Hudson current doesn%u2019t refill your pit, that is if they don%u2019t crank a pit in front of you before first. The floats are steel and make a huge racket as the ferry wake enters the marina unchallenged. The views are stunning, but everything else terrible.

Good stop- request an inside dock, 2013-01-19
Captain: , Bayboro, Fl (40)

We stayed here right before Hurricane Sandy last year. If you are lucky enough to get an inside dock, the rocking and rolling isn't all that bad. Outer docks are definitely affected by water taxis, and ferries. Amazing view of the Empire State building from here. Diesel only. No gas. Helpful and friendly staff

Rough but Nice, 2013-01-13
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

This marina is very well run. Nice staff and facilities. There are quite a few restuarants both fancy and casual within walking distance. There is a small mall with everything from drycleaning to a drugstore across the street. Security is very good and there is ample parking if you need it. The only draw back is the rock and roll when the numerous ferries go by. They have diesel and pumpout but no gas. The view of NYC is incredible.

Great View, 2012-10-07
Captain: , Stoneledge, Cayuga Lake (60)

This marina has a great view of NYC and the staff was very nice. The Chart House restaurant was right next to the marina and fabulous. However, the rough waters at low tide and with ferry made this an unpleasant stay.

Keep my boat there, very happy, 2012-08-23
Captain: , New York (21)

Currently keep my 22ft sailboat there for this season (till Nov-120 and may extend for the windter of '12-'13 too, the registration process was a bit chaotic , seems understaffed. However after the registration, I am enjoying it here. Have a outer slip so it gets VERY rocky sometimes, the GM of the Marina himself offered an inside slip, so will be moving there this weekend! :) Glorious views of the city with the Emprie State building smack in the center of the view.

great view of NYC Skyline, 2012-07-18
Captain: , Marlboro Yacht Club, Marlboro NY (515)

we stayed recently, it is rough until the ferry traffic stops around midnight. Docks are high and long. people were very nice and helpful, clubhouse has shower and laundry available. resonable dining within walking distance and a few places deliever.

great docks even better views of nyc, 2012-06-29
Captain: , West shore Marlboro NY (825)

we stayed here after irene last year we called on short notices .. and they said no problem we ended up on an inside slip so rocking and rolling wasnt bad.. i'm sure outter slips would be. lots of water taxi and river traffic, many good resturants are within walking distance, also some take out places deliver to the docks also pet friendly. excellent views of empire state they only have diesel no gas. Gated and 24hr security very safe

Very rocky during day, but incomparable view and easy ferry to nyc, 2012-06-15
Captain: , Palm Harbor Marina, FL (32)

Except for the surge from the ferry and river traffic, which is exceptionally bad, this is a great stop. Found it easy to catch ferry into Manhattan right next door, good restaurants close by - Chart House, Ruth's Chris, Italian, and more. Stellar view of the NY skyline with the Empire State building directly across the river from us. If you stay here, expect to have rocking and rolling (waves) until dusk, but it was worth the stay to us.

Bouncy but secure, 2012-06-10
Captain: , santa barbara (696)

Sometimes serious current at entry, inside is bouncy when ferries are active, settles down about 10. Good security, some facilities nearby, ferry across river is very close.

Rock & roll, 2012-05-25
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Great location, docks ok, 3 great restaurants within walking distance
great view of the city and great access. Constant roll from river traffic is difficult. Roll is what lowers rating.

Rocky and rolling place, 2011-10-02
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (680)

This is our third visit in two years. Even with the bad rocky and jecking from ferry boat waves, its very easy to buy groceries and visit the city from there. Haner and his staff are first class, and will do anything for you. Some great restaurants right nearby, and they have diesel.

The Surge is truly amazing, 2011-09-26
Captain: , jackson, TN (884)

But for the surge from the river traffic, which is horrendous, this is a good stop. Easy ferry into Manhattan right next door, good restaurants close by - Chart House, Ruth's Chris, Italian, etc. Great view of the NY skyline with the Empire State building directly across the river.Friendly staff and reasonable rate of $3/' (reasonable for NY that is- not anyplace else)

I came pretty close to being knocked off the finger pier it was pitching so badly. Of the 400 + marinas we've stayed in over three years of living aboard, we've never seen surge like this. It is serious, big time and at times dangerous. A major trade off for the great location. If you stay here, plan on being uncomfortable on the boat.

Has diesel fuel but difficult entrance, 2011-08-23
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (748)

Good place for refueling in NYC area, but if the Hudson current is at max, it is difficult to enter. With a single screw, no thruster, 42 foot sailboat when we entered the harbor we had to enter sideways under power to counteract the strong current and stay off the walls. Once we got inside the current settled down and we were able to lay up on the fuel dock with ease. Diesel was $4.35 gal which at the time was higher than other marinas further up the Hudson. It is not a place I would want to stay to visit NYC.

Great place, 2010-07-19
Captain: , Weehawken, NJ (10)

This is my home marina. It is well run and the staff are very helpful. The view of NYC is unbeatable. The ferry traffic causing rock and roll during the day is the only downside. It does qquiet down at night, though.

There are several restaurants nearby and getting to NYC is no problem.

Highly recommend this place.

best location, 2010-07-05
Captain: , Stockton Ca. (142)

marina staff were friendly and helpful, docks are new and very nice.Beautiful view of New York and Empire state building. Frerries dock next door and although it is convenient, the harbor is very rolly during the day. It calms down around 10 pm each night.Best place to see 4th fireworks. Free coffe and donuts in am.

OK by me, 2009-09-23
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

A good, but not great marine. Great views of Manhatan, and only a short walk to a bus that goes to Times Square via the Loncoln tunnel. But make sure you know that NJ Transit accepts only coin or one dollar bills to pay the fare. Marina attendants didn't know much about bus fare structure

NY Place to stay, 2009-07-22
Captain: , Oyster Bay, NY (74)

I often spend a week at this marina in the summer. It is a little far up the Hudson coming from the LI Sound but worth the trip. It has great facilities and is also an easy walk across the street to a few nice places to eat. It does get a little bouncy at night due to the tides.

Great location... rough waters, 2009-02-04
Captain: , Weehawken, NJ (3)

Very rough waters from ferry and other traffic. Make sure you have long strong lines and big fenders! Easy access to NYC (via Bus, Ferry, or the Lincoln tunnel). I've meet several NYC commuters live on their boats here. You can't beat the the location. For those wanting to see the NJ side (and the great views of the city) simply head north or south along the shore. To the north there is great biking and walking along safe yuppie neighborhoods (first you will pass through several parks and a "Y" intersection). To the south there is nightlife and excellent restaurants in Hoboken (bike or call a cab).

Home Port, 2009-01-28
Captain: , Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club (6)

Great place to view and get into Manhattan from. Good Rates too. Will need large Fenders and strong lines as we do deal with some rock & roll from river traffic. Be Careful as the electric rates are up for grabs if you stay awhile. Most of the dockhands are great and helpful
