Reviews for Liberty Yacht Club and Marina
Convenient Gas Stop, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Oakton, VA (349)

Right off the channel at the Route 2 bridge, this is a good place to stop for fuel. With competitive prices, the only downside is that the fuel dock is exposed.

Currently upgrading all Docks., 2015-08-12
Captain: , Edgewater, MD (75)

While this was a rather weathered marina, they are currently expanding and upgrading the entire marina. Adding more mooring balls, new Pumps, pump out stations at each slip, New decking and more slips. The employees could be more friendly though. All in all a nice Marina.

Not coming there ever, 2014-12-14
Captain: , Ft lauderdale (20)

Got my catamaran there for 5 month, at first all was good, then with no warning they raised there price from $400/month dockage that was agreed to $550!

I have an hybrid boat so it has to be connected to the electric power when at the dock! To keep the drive battery bank in good condition.
When I came pick up the boat, she was unplug the battery where down to 5 volts, so damaging 12 x12 volt battery bank, locally the house bank didn't suffer to much, but the drive bank that's an other story. I have to replace now, and the 2 boat next to me where using my electric power cord to recharge there battery!
So they park 3 boats in one dock and charge 3 electric fees for one only outlet.
When I ask why do I have to pay the 53 dollars fees they told me there are not there to police the electric outlet!

Maintenance ! I had some issue with a generator, I ask to get it fix! It took 2 month to get to it. An 3 mechanic to get to the bottom of it.
Winch: they told me I have to replace the electric motor and clutch for $2700 a bargain for in fact just a set of damaged Paws that cost $45!
So management is incompetent, maintenance it's a lottery you may be lucky! And if you agree to a price be aware that that's the price of the day! An if you are like me living far away you will be an easy prey!
So be aware! If you are not a local avoid this place!

Fuel Dock re-opened, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Annapolis (104)

Fuel dock - gas/diesel/pumpout is up and running. Pilings could use more padding, but the lines are new. they are having pilings replaced for docks. Good to see improvements!

Fuel Dock still under repair, 2014-06-10
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (465)

Marina management advises new fuel infrastructure is weeks away from being operational.

Good place to stop for fuel, water and pump out, 2013-09-07
Captain: , Annapolis Md (280)

Directly on the busy South River this marina has some slips for transiants but is not well located for travel to Annapolis. The busy river makes it a bit rocky during weekends. The staff is good and the docks in good repair.

Bad repair service experience, 2012-10-08
Captain: , Port Charlotte, FL (684)

Had to stop in to have my throttle/ shift assembly replaced at the start of a 2-week boat trip. Service mgr ordered parts without checking to see if they would fit in the pedestal. A new (large) hole had to be cut to move the throttle lever over and up, as it was too large to be a direct replacement. Hole was cut incorrectly in the pedestal, throttle lever is installed now with the trim plate overlapping a bolt head on the pedestal guard. Unsafe practices by yard worker who "has worked here 40 yrs and is very good" - cutting a hole in the pedestal with a bent blade on a jigsaw, held out from the work area like a recip saw, no eye protection, no respiratory protection while cutting fiberglass, dust and shavings everywhere inside the pedestal, minimal cleanup, without regard for the hydraulic steering lines and electrics on the backside of the cut. Service manager topped it off with a comment that I could just buy a new throttle and replace it later if I wasn't happy with what they did - when I told him that it was an expensive repair and I expected it to last, he implied that they were doing me a favor to have done the work at all. For over $600 spent, I don't consider it a "favor".

Decent place, 2011-08-17
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

Chris is the best thing about this place. Lived aboard here for five months and kept my boat here for two years. The place is a bit of a "truck stop" but the docks are good, the pool is nice, and there are many liveaboards here. The gas dock is good and staffed by bikini-clad girls (bonus). The marina is four miles up the South River, so it is a ways from big water. It is also a ways from anything shoreside except YellowFin restaurant. What sets this place apart is the attitude. It is not stuffy or resorty. A real place with real people.

Great people and service, 2011-05-05

Have had slip here for 3 seasons now, very happy with service. Local mechanics are very good too.

Liberty Yacht Club Marina, 2007-02-02
Captain: , Florida Keys (129)

Gen'l Manager Chris goes out of his way to acomodate boaters needs. Mostly floating docks, somewhat exposed, but generally not a problem. Easy access fuel dock, plenty of water depth, reliable electric at slips. Nice swimming pool, good restaurants nearby. Good place for live-aboards or long term dockage of your boat.
