Reviews for Liberty Landing Marina
Quick and neat, 2016-10-10
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (450)

Stopped here 10/6 for the night and once again we were treated to a nice night in a great, mostly wake-less location. Dock were nice, staff were professional (especially Libby) and we felt welcome.

Doesn't get much better, 2016-10-02
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Stayed seven nights due to weather on southbound tirip. Left Sunday AM 9-28-14. Good floating docks, power a little weak but dockmaster made financial adjustment, 15' water on approacch and at dock. Terrific view with ferry to Manhatten, outstanding shower & head facility, terrific marine store and staff is great. Loads of good reataurants in Jersey City. Staff is terrific. What else can you want.

Stayed 9-25-16 Power is weak, depth is great, view is great, location and nearby all you can ask for. The place to be.

Great people and facility, 2016-10-02
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (627)

We had a great stay. Walking distance to the Statue of Liberty ferry, old CNJ railroad terminal. Ferry on site to Manhattan that drops off near World Trade Center and subways to the rest of the city. Clean facility, staff very helpful and courteous. Well equipped ships store. Can get West Marine products next day. Highly recommend.

Liberty Landing Marina, 2016-09-22
Captain: , Kennebunkport (10)

Excellent facility, nice people and convenient location with the ferry stop at the marina. I plan to stay there each time I take my boat north or south.

Harvest moon stay, 2016-09-17

Liberty house restaurant great food but not very nice hostess when we asked to make reservations they did get us in though with out a reservation. Will be back this loved it.

Great Marina!!!, 2016-08-31
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (50)

No one likes to pay $3.00 per ft but if you want to be near NYC this is the place to stop!! Very well managed, dock attendants are skilled and polite, docks are very nice, the showers were clean and newer. There is a store onsite that offers many basic needs from marine supplies to groceries. Definitely stay here again!! Easy ferry pick to access NYC on the property.

Perfect Marina Experience, 2016-08-30
Captain: , East Greenwich, RI (222)

We recently spent two nights at Liberty Landing and had a wonderful time. The grounds and the staff exceeded all of our expectations. The onsite restaurant had quite a varied menu and the food was delicious. The bathroom facilities were beautiful and well maintained. The location allowed us to visit the 911 Memorial as well as Ellis Island and Lady Liberty by utilizing the onsite ferry system

FANTASTIC Stay!, 2016-08-29

Maybe the best Marina on Active Captain, 2016-08-12
Captain: , Patterson NY (50)

I made a 40 mile trip down the hudson to spend a few days sailing around Manhatton. I read reviews of other Marinas in the area and decided on this one....so glad I did. I sailed around the other marinas that I declined and the boats were rocking violently which goes on to 8pm from the rushing ferries and then they still had rocking from late night cruise tours....i saw this during my late evening sailing around the upper bay area. ***Liberty Landing Marina is perfect.*** As soon as you enter the canal basin the washing machine effect of the upper bay deminishes to calm still water! protected from wind too which makes for extreamly still water in your slip. Zero rocking/movement as you sleep!. Your slip has electric and water. There is Gas and diesel....self serve after hours too. *VEIWS!: you have the awesome veiws right from your slip. It's best to see NYC from NJ...you only see NJ if your docked in NY :( ...also, you have an extensive walkway right at the marina that gives you access to liberty State Park which offers more views with awesome paths along the river and a 9/11 memorial...awesome for night walking. *Bathrooms: 2 for men, 2 for women....all in the main Octagon building. They're all clean and modern and theres a locked private access lounge with huge 5 star hotel type showers and nice bathroom stalls...you will have the key Located in the main Octagon building you have a ships store that offers FREE COFFEE! :) ....and a resturant (didnt give this restaurant a try) and a nice laundry room. We tried the Liberty House Restaurant a very short walk away from our slip. The grounds are very pretty with private seating areas to sit and be served drinks....also a very nice fire pit for roasting mashmellows. Our dinner was nice and the views better. *Ferry: we took the ferry to NYC which is right there at the marina. cost $7 each way PP. departs every 1/2 hour. You have an amazing river walk right at the NY side ferry docks which seems to go on for miles and its pet/skateboard/bike friendly..the Freedom Tower and memorial is two blocks in from the ferry dock. Our entire experience at this Marina was perfect, what it has to offer makes it unbeatable. Look at the number of reviews and its rating. I'm trying to find another marina on the Long Island Sound that rates as well....disappointing :(

Great Spot, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Fall River, MA (10)

We stayed here for 2 nites. Terrific spot to stay for a visit to NYC. Just a short ferry ride, which runs every 1/2 hr. Ate at Liberty House Restaurant; excellent food, service, and location.

Liberty Landing - What a wonderful time!, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Bayshore NY (10)

Could not ask for anything more. Our most enjoyable stay this year began with the assistance docking at the gas dock and at our slip. The showers, bathrooms and lounge were top notch. The restaurant was terrific as well as the ships store. Definitely will be coming back next year!

Liberty Landing, 2016-08-05
Captain: , Chesapeake YC, Shady SIde, MD (101)

Easy access from NYC harbor, very attentive dockhands and office staff. Two great restaurants within walking distance.

Great Marina in NY Harbor, 2016-08-02
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (160)

Exceptionally well maintained. Everything worked perfectly well. Carolyn and the dock staff were super polite, very helpful, and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Packages shipped in and out, walked our dog 3 days while we toured NY sites, advice on timing of sites.

Great ship store on site that is basically a mini West Marine with no pricing markups.

New lounge and bath facilities.

Best views of NY are from NJ and this marina has them all.

Perfect stay, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Edgartown, MA (40)

Would not change a thing

Expensive but Good Location, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Southport Queensland (300)

No need to go into the location and the eassy of access to Manhattan. However we found it difficult to reserve a slip by phone and on line the day before and the next day after three calls in the space of three hours and a VHF call entering the channel confirming the slip and a stern in starboard tie, when we arrived we were directed to a port side bow in tie in a very tight spot next to the jet skis, fuel wharf and office. This invloved backing out of the marina and rearranging lines fenders etc and reversing back in to a difficult spot. OK if there were no other vacant slips but we could see four vacnt within 100 feet. Even the dock crew didn't know what th eoffice was up to.

Nice place, expensive fuel, 2016-07-06
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (69)

I bought a boat on Long Island and began my trip home to Chesapeake Bay on a Saturday morning, stopping here after transiting Hell Gate to fill the tanks. It's a nice place, but very busy on a nice Saturday morning. The fuel is very expensive for New Jersey, but they have a monopoly for marine fuel as there are no other marinas with fuel for many miles so they can charge what they want. The dock hand was friendly and helpful, and he pumped the fuel for me which was nice.

Very Professional, 2016-07-02
Captain: , Racine Wisconsin (161)

First class Marina. Greg is on his game. Great ships store and two restaurants on site. Valvtect diesel. Walk to Manhattan ferry and Statue ferry.

great facility nice people, 2016-06-27
Captain: , Sodus Bay, New York (220)

quiet calm location up the beginning of the historic Morris Canal. despite a lot of traffic in and out, very calm. great store with many west marine product. lounge and showers fantastic. 24 /7 self serve gas and diesel. Statue of Liberty ferry very short walk. great place. pricey compared to most but great for this location .

Expensive but worth it., 2016-06-21
Captain: , Bedford, NH (645)

This is one of the nicest marinas we have stayed at. Yes, it is expensive but it has everything. Docks are like new and secure. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Surprisingly quiet and calm. Easy in and out. Ferry to Manhattan or Statue of Liberty operate out of here. 2 Restaurants on site. Food is Excellent. Ship's store is very nice and well stocked. Nice selection of paper charts as well. Bath facilities are top notch. Fuel dock open 24 hours. After hours, pump your own with credit card at pump. We spent 2 nights here and will certainly stay here again. Love this place!

Fantastic and Helpful, 2016-06-08
Captain: , Lake Burton, GA (120)

As I approached Hell Gate, my engine decided to slow down. Was thinking dirty fuel. Fortunately at 1500 rpm still going 11 knots. Pulled into Liberty Landing Friday 6/4 for one night, stayed until 6/7 for maintenance. Called Volvo and they recommended repairs there. Since nothing could be done over the weekend we enjoyed Jersey City. Jason, Director of OPS, Mike the mechanic and the entire dock staff were professional, helpful and made our extended stay very pleasant. With two sea trails and clean tanks departed for Atlantic City. Mike checked with me later in the day to see how it was going. Great customer service and the location is nice. Quiet and no action from the river traffic. Presently in Cape May and headed to C/D Canal tomorrow.

Another great stay at LLM!, 2016-06-02
Captain: , Cape Porpoise, Maine (240)

After avoiding this place for many years due to some bad experiences 10 or so years ago, we decided to try Liberty Landing Marina last year and loved it so much we decided to return this year.
The facilities are excellent and the staff very experienced and friendly. The ships store has many hard-to-find items as well as some nice clothing. Fuel and Pumpout are available and reasonable for the NYC area.
The location cannot be beat. Steps away from our slip, we found the ferry to Manhattan that leaves every half hour. Very convenient. Also, Liberty Park is a great place to walk or jog.
We shall return!

Lovely marina, Great staff, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Mystic, CT (40)

This was a great find. My husband was looking for a place to lay up for a few days after single-handing from Norfold to N Y Harbor. This was perfect. An accomodating marina staff led by Greg was the icing on the cake. We were minutes from the World Financial Center and Jersey City's water front services and restaurants (Lighthorse Tavern - a great recommendation by Greg). We stayed an extra day waiting out stinky weather - the marina was so convenient and nice, this was not a hardship.
We would highly recommend this marina to anyone passing through New York harbor.

VERY well run with eveything you need, 2016-05-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

This was my first time at Liberty Landing and I was most impressed. Excellent dock staff, easy fueling, well protected, and a GREAT view accross the Hudson to lower Manhattan. Very clean and modern head and shower facilities and a ships store that rivals a full size West Marine. Be sure and make advance reservations for dockage as this is a very popular place to stop.

good marina, 2015-10-20
Captain: , Mystic,CT (202)

Full service marina. Artistic beautiful bathrooms, but only one toilet in the mens bathroom. Great lounge area and security staff in kiosk. Arrived on Weds. 10/14 callled around 4pm phones not answered for reservations. Tied up on our own and check in with security around 6pm.

Way better than I thought, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Norwalk, CT (82)

Ok, this is in NYC (next door). This was great! As a single srew and NO thusters, they brought me into a slip that I thought I needed a shoehorn to get into. Dockhand (Keene?) was amazing! Went to Manhatten for dinner via water taxi that leaves from the marina. Great stop over to wait for the currents at Hell's Gate. Very attentive staff and very nice (and clean) lounge area (just for the boaters) and showers.

Great Marina-Great Location, 2015-09-15
Captain: , Hull, MA (700)

We stayed here a week to visit family who live in Brooklyn. The marina was the perfect spot to tie up your boat ( well protected) and also to explore the city ( NJ and NYC). The staff is very helpful and the marina floating docks are in excellent shape, the restrooms and showers were excellent and they have a well stocked ships store. There are 2 restaurants on site bit the water taxi from the marina can get you to the jersey side and NYC side were you will have plenty of dining options and will be accessible to all the NYC attractions. If you haven't visit the 911 Memorial Museum. The light rail train also leaves from liberty park so that is another source of transport. They also sell Diesel and Gas. They were selling diesel for $ 3.05/gal. There is also a pump station and pump out boat.
This is our second time staying here as we head south. We wil definetly be back

What a View, 2015-09-14
Captain: , Racine, WI (515)

Very easy to get in. Staff right there to catch lines and assist in tying up. Lots of traffic, but the views far outway any wakes. We felt pretty small in our 45' sailboat, there were huge motor yatch's everywhere.

fantastic, classy place stop over on our way home., 2015-08-31
Captain: , Marlboro Yacht Club, NY (10)

Liberty landing is a top notch marina, very helpful staff that is eager to meet all of your needs. Bathrooms were clean and large, the marina itself was both spotless and secure. We dealt with Greg on the docks and he was very friendly and helpful during our stay. very close proximity to NYC by ferry or path and the marina itself is well protected from NYC harbor so no rocking and rolling all night long. I will stay again and look forward to a longer stay next time.

Repair work competed = free dockage, 2015-08-28
Captain: , Lizella GA (1414)

I came to thei marina to have some work done on my boat and sightsee NYC at the same time. While the work was being performed there was no charge for the dockages which for my boat would have been about $140/day. So I got the work done and stayed for a week for same cost as staying at the marina a week and this included a haulout and wash. Only downside was a long walk to the restroom and laundry but I was able to live on the boat and I rode bike to Ferry and then around NYC. This was a great way to see NYC.

Prime location, 2015-08-24
Captain: , Oriental, NC (231)

We stopped here for one night 5 Jul 2015 on our way to Maine. Could not ask for more helpful crew. The location is fine for doing the city, as ferries and trains get you across the Hudson in a few minutes. Here you are protected from the strong currents and big wakes of the river. But you pay for it. If you can show you've stayed at another Suntex Marina within the past year, you get a 15% discount. At least we did, and the dockmaster spent time and made phone calls to make sure we got it.

Our Home marina, 2015-08-20
Captain: , NYC - Liberty Landing (182)

We use LLM as our home marina and it's the best option near or around the city. Lots of protection and docks are quite friendly. Diesel is $2.96/gal

we always stop here, 2015-08-07
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

As a previous poster says, location, location, location.
This is a must stop for us.
in past years we have had repair work done here, whcih was quick and excellent and have stayed for over three weeks while we did work in the city.
Although a bit pricey, and the fact that it is far from provisioning, this is a great location.
Ferry to NYC is right there, showers, although not totally private are clean and spacious, docks are stable and in good condition.
Fuel is available as well as a well stocked, but pricey, boating store on site.
Staff is friendly, sometimes a bit forgetful (as in scheduling the pumpout boat), but always helpful.

Right in front of New York, amazing view, 2015-08-05
Captain: , Montreal (20)

Location, location location...
Right in front of NYC lookg at the Trade center.
There is an amzing restaurant a few yards away front the main building with gardens, jazz musicians except on Wednesday and Sunday, this place is a must.

I stayed there on 2 occasions going south and going north.

Second time we stopped on a Friday afternnon because we lost an engine while being offshore. These guys add a friednly mechanic that found a clogged fuel filter and the next day we were ready to go.
Bathrooms are very clean, NYC is just a few minutes away on the Ferry

Exceptional Marina Staff and Service Dept, 2015-07-31
Captain: , Mystic, CT (112)

Arrived on Tuesday evening with a reservation made on Tuesday morning. During our travel to the marina had and engine temperature issue. Work order submitted and Wednesday had a service tech on board to help diagnose the problem. Heat exchanger issue and tech did the right the to consult a co-worker to help him.

We left Friday morning only to have a water pump burn out. Returned to the marina on one engine and they were more than accomodating to find us a slip last minute. Another work order submitted and being taken care of by the service dept.

Super clean bathrooms and showers. Great staff and very accomodating. Highly recommended as a stop in NY/NJ area.

Urban strawberry place, 2015-07-07
Captain: , Jamestown RI (32)

Have stopped over twice in this marina on transits up and down the East coast. Compared to the bumpersticker shock you will get in Sag Harbor, the slip fees are reasonable and the staff is very friendly. After navigating the busy East river where Cecilie Viking had to deal with Seaplanes on takeoff two boatlenghts on our Starboard Liberty Landing Marina offers tranquility in the middle of the city. The entrance can be congested with traffic and you need to be careful if you draw more than 10 feet. We arrived on July 3rd and still found several available slips. The "Maritime Parc" restaurant in the marina offers as spectacular dining as the views from the cockpit. Never miss this place if you are in transit or as a destination in its own right... after all it is the big apple... and Liberty Landing is an urban strawberry place

Good Service, 2015-06-30
Captain: , Palm Beach Fl (20)

Greg and his crew took good care of us during our stay, they kept up with our parts we had shipped, good marina store, nice restaurant, great showers and bathrooms, very friendly folks, great view of lower Manhattan at night. "Kings Odyssey", Nordhavn 64

Awesome urban experience, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Silverthorne, CO (373)

We stayed May 9-12, so off-season rate was $2.50/ft. Fairways are a bit tight but many of the slips were emtpy this time of year, so not a problem. Awesome views of NYC. Adjacent Liberty Landing Park has extensive riverfront walking paths, 9/11 memorial, historic train station (still recovering from Sandy and not open). Very convenient to ferries to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Luxurious bathrooms, well-stocked marine store, great dock hands. Not sure we would have stayed at in-season rates, but an awesome urban experience.

First Class Operation, 2015-05-15
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Stayed a week May 8 - 14, 2015. Another great Suntex marina experience. Staff was on the spot to answer any questions and assist. Facility is clean and well maintained. Showers and Laundry are very nice. Marina Store is well stocked and reasonably priced. Convenient connections by the ferry service to Manhatten, grocery store within bike distance. Beautiful views of the NYC skyline. Liberty State Park is adjacent. Dog Heaven. Suggest you time your arrival and departure to the marina to off peak passenger ferry commute times, really lessens the lumpy water out in the Harbor. We arrived mid morning and timed our departure northbound at 6 am with the current. Had no problems. The wave action at the docks was not bad at all. The great variety of yachts coming in and out to the fuel dock made for interesting views.

Great People and Good Location, 2015-05-10
Captain: , Seattle Wa (200)

We were there in early May so the price was pretty reasonable. The people are ALL very helpful. The store (basically a small WM outlet) is well stocked and the manager (Ivan) personally programmed a new Navionics chip for me. This marina has very little swell compared to the NYC side. The "Yellow" Boat runs every half hour until 8:30 at night

Great Overall Experience, 2015-02-21
Captain: , Summerlin, NV (350)

In August we launched our 23' C-Dory at the nearby State Park ramp and then stayed at Liberty Landing Marina for 6 days before cruising up the Hudson. We stored the car/trailer in their yard. We were warmly welcomed at the marina, which was top notch with great staff. Nice store, clean and large restrooms/showers, and having the water taxi nearby was wonderful. Our berth was well protected from wakes - as all are - and provided an incredible view across to Manhattan, especially at night. A pricey stay for a marina, but considering the location it was well worth it. We would definitely stay here again!

Awesome view, clean facilities, really helpful, expensive, 2014-12-20
Captain: , ann arbor (120)

We stayed here a night after going all night from Newport, RI. It offered a beautiful view of NYC skyline and a short easy ferry ride away. The dock had was really helpful as we got over 100 gallons of fuel. Being from the Great Lakes though we were floored at how expensive it was for a slip - $270 for a 54' sailboat.

Great Stop, 2014-12-10
Captain: , St. Michaels, MD (53)

Great location directly across from downtown NYC. Commuter ferry departs every half hour for 15 minute crossing. Large, well-stocked marine store and nice shower facilities. Floating docks in well-protected harbor. Internet signal weak and cable TV not working on docks.

A New York State of mind, 2014-12-03
Captain: , Montreal (96)

When you have a choice there is the Pit Stop to choose across from Manhattan. The people are not just "new-york-friendly", they make sure you are confortable with doing business there.

And they are in no need to rush you away, letting you use a transient dock to check your mails.

For a small town boy, this sort of friendly welcoming counts.

Great Stop, 2014-11-14
Captain: , Ludington MI (70)

Arrived 11/3/14, Mon night. Staff was helpfull and check in went smoothly. Restaurants was closed on Mon, but took ferry across canal to eat. Pleasantly supprised by $2.50 per foot, but did not need fuel. Nice nighttime view of city... Liberty Park (huge) just across street with plenty of open space to walk dog. Excellent jumping off place to head South the next day.

A newfound gem, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Kent Narrows, MD (200)

I've delivered boats from New England to the Chesapeake and back several times and never went into Jersey City. This time we did so to enable one of our guests to go back to his car left at Penn Station, Newark. What a pleasant surprise! This is an excellent marina with shower/head facilities and lounge area with TV that are worthy of my five star rating. It is under new management and the staff are friendly, well trained, and very helpful. We were there late October on a Monday, so the Bistro and restaurant were closed. The marina has undergone upgrades after hurricane Sandy and is in top shape with new floating docks. The views of Freedom Tower and the NYC skyline are breathtaking! We took lots of pictures. Fuel prices are much lower than in CT or NY in Long Island Sound because of the lower fuel taxes in NJ. It was my son's boat, but I think we paid $3.79 for diesel, whereas Essex, CT, was $4.07.

Liberty Landing Sept 2014, 2014-09-24
Captain: , Toronto (40)

Fantastic marina. Maybe a bit expensive (4.50/ft I think) but the facilities are excellent. Two amazing restaurants on site, with the best view of Manhattan. The restrooms are better than in my house. Slips are a bit tight, so take care in a wind. Greg and the team are very helpful, they will meet you at the slip to help dock. All facilities you could need... gas/water/power/showers/restaurant/store

Still Overwhelming the second time around!, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Avondale, PA (448)

August 2010

The views of the surrounding area are overwhelming and awe inspiring. It's certainly not the usual surroundings for a marina.

The staff was exceedingly helpful and the facilities first rate. We arrived late but the Dock Master stayed to ensure we got in and tied up with no problems.

This was a delivery trip so we only stayed one night but I'll be back when I have more time to sightsee in the area.

9/16/2014

Well, I made it back but still didn't have time to sightsee from shore. This marina is still a great place to stay - aside from the price - which is normal for the area but way too high for most other places.

Once again the staff was very helpful and didn't seem to mind that we arrived just as they were closing for the day. The heads and showers are finished like in an expensive hotel or home. A bit of overkill perhaps, but it felt good! Getting the interior slip with my single engine trawler was tight but certainly doable.

We had had a rough day and were looking forward to a restaurant dinner, but alas, both on site restaurants are closed on Monday. That was a disappointment. It seems like the two restaurants could have different nights off.

And, the views were even better this time than last because of the presence of the new World Trade Center Tower.

All pleasure - no pain. Beautiful marina, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful view, walking trails and state park dockside. We'll certainly return.

Friendly staff, immaculate premises, great restaurants on-site and the best view of Manhattan bar none. The canal was dead calm at night.

Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

That is the most that I paid for a slip at $4 per foot. That was not going to stop me from giving it a 5 star rating. We arrived on the holiday weekend with a lot of boat traffic. I don't think the boat rocked all night. If you want a great restaurant, restrooms and awsome view this is for you.

Great View and Nice Folks, 2014-08-29
Captain: , Marathon, FL (376)

Very easy to make a reservation. Our slip was ready when we arrived and it was very easy to dock at. Everybody was very friendly with quick check-in. Awesome view of downtown Manhattan.

Only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is the ferry boats that don't slow down soon enough coming into the marina fairway. They end up bringing a nice wave in with them which sends all the boats rocking.

Liberty Landing has been one of our top marina destination stops since leaving New Orleans.
The marina is top notch. The staff is professional, friendly & very accommodating .
When we arrived, it was our. Dockhand's first day on the job and we couldn't tell! He was well trained.
Surf City, across the cut is a great place to eat and enjoy a cocktail. Either dinghy across, or walk around the bridge (quite a walk though)
We liked this place so much, we stayed for several weeks.
The Liberty State park is huge. The $7.00 ferry to NYC can't be beat!

Best place to stay near NYC, 2014-07-20
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (404)

Port Cove is very convenient to NYC but very expensive and the rolling is extreme.
Liberty Landing gives you 2 good local restaurants, a good night's sleep, wonderful views of the city and an 1100 acre Liberty State Park at your doorstep. Plus, a cheap water taxi to NYC right from your marina every half hour.
Very well run marina with excellent staff.

LIBERTY landing Marina... we loved it, 2014-06-19
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (110)

A spectacular view. Just a short ferry trip across the river to the new Freedom tower. Close to the boat that goes to Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. Two great restaurants and the Liberty House has a wonderful setting with a knock out view of Manhattan. Friendly helpful personnel and staff that cleans the facility throughout the day. They have a mini West Marine ship store and complimentary coffee and tea through the day. Floating docks new and well maintained. We were there for a week and got the weekly rate so by NY standards affordable. This falls in the category of "we want to return".

Good marina great location, 2014-06-15
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

Would definitely stay here again but beware you do rock during the day due to the ferries but the wake usually subsides at dark.
The music on the weekends does not subside and last night it was loud until around 2am.
Very convent to NY city via the yellow ferry service, the bathrooms were very clean and they just replaced the washers and dryers while we we're there. Not sure why they made them credit card only as I don't like running $2.50 every time on the credit card to do laundry.
The weekly rate is a much better deal than the daily and people were very friendly.

Very Professional, 2014-06-05
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (983)

How can you not give them five stars. I know they are expensive, but the facilities are excellent, the two nearby restaurants excellent (and reasonably priced) and the view is unique, and worth the price.
They had the Clipper Race Series yachts in and were especially busy, but service and attention did not suffer. An excellent experience. If they could just curtail the ferries ....

Beautiful location , 2014-05-22
Captain: , Deltaville, va (101)

Our first trip to NYC in April. We requested dockage away from the ferry landing and it was worth it. Staff was helpful and NYC friendly. Docking and fuel were straightforward. Each dock has its own electric gate card that you have to remember to return. We took off with ours and had to FedEx back from Va. If you are on the outside dock, there is ferry boat wave action. Morris canal is busy but calm water otherwise.

Bathrooms and main common rooms are wonderful. There is a reasonable chandlery. They are updating the wifi system.

The setting is simply excellent! Liberty Park is a national park with running/walking trails and makes for a nice contrast with the concrete jungle across the river. The Liberty House restaurant is highly recommended with a beautiful view and there is outside dinning.

The ferry runs every 30 mins to Wall Street and there is also a Path train. There are separate ferries to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. There is a Offshore sailing school housed in an old large boat. It is quite easy to go to Manhattan and you are on Vessy street and the 911 museum/memorial.

Great Access to NY, 2014-05-07
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

It's the perfect place to go if you are planning to do the Statue of Liberty and NYC.

Very nice floating docks, staff was on the ball getting us in and tied up. Rates were good, they had a discount, ask about both BoatUS and AGLCA.

It's a 15 min walk to the ferry for the two islands. When you leave the statue, take the Battery Park Ferry which will take you to the lower end of Manhattan. The 4/6 line is close by and it will take you Uptown. Recommend stopping off in Chinatown for "Soup Dumplings" or Xiao Long Bao.

To get home go to the Manhattan Financial Center and take the $7 ferry back. It's a 5 min walk back to your slip.

I'd go back there in a New York minute!

WOW !!--Great Marina with a Great View, 2013-09-23
Captain: , Henderson Harbor, NY (431)

I chose this marina based on other member reviews and some needed minor repairs and it turned out to be the highlight of our two week trip to NYC and Chesapeke Bay. The Marina has a breath taking view of the NYC Skyline, especially at night. There is a lot of commercial boat traffic during the day, but not enough to cause any experienced cruiser a problem. The Liberty Landing staff members are very helpful and friendly. It has the best restrooms I have seen on the water (as well as being very clean), and a very nice ship's store on site. They can handle all repairs from minor to major and even with the marina being within the NYC limits the pricing was high but fair. The Water Taxi will pick you up at the Marina and from there you can travel within a few minutes to downtown Manahattan and within walking distance of the World Trade Memorial. I will certainly return to Liberty Landing for another stay

Captain: , Amityville, NY (282)

Wonderful facility in a protected location, attentive staff and easy transportation via water taxi. Both restaurants on site are closed on Mondays so took $2 ferry across the Morris Canal and walked to Light Horse Pub--best burger I've had in recent memory. Marina accepts MarinaLife discount.

Perfect spot for stopover in NYC, 2013-08-09
Captain: , Montreal, PQ, Canada (560)

Freindly staff, great facilities include excellent showers with lounge, laundry room, and marine store. Adjacent restaurant (didn't try it). Liberty state park is across the street, huge park for walking or biking. Jersey City to Manhattan ferry runs on the 1/2 hour right nextdoor and gives you access to NYC, that's what we were there for. Subway sations not far from 9-11 memorial.

A good place to stay, 2013-08-08
Captain: , Galesville, MD (192)

Friendly staff, luxurious shower and toilet facilities. Restaurant was closed the evening (Monday?) we were there; recommend Amelia's Italian bistro in Jersey City, easy walk from the ferry dock on north side of canal. Last ferry return across the canal is at 8:50pm; you should really try to make this as the trolley line alternative includes a very long walk at the end.

Fantastic View, 2013-07-01
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (570)

Liberty Landing is located in a park with amazing views of NYC. The bathroom area and boaters lounge are very nice with two seating areas each with a TV. A short walk up the sidewalk will lead you to a set of parallel walls with a walkway between them. The walls are a moving 9-11 memorial and well worth a visit. If you walk in the other direction the sidewalk continues for quite a distance through the boatyard and beyond providing a good chance for some exercise.

Excellent Experience, 2013-06-29
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (161)

We stayed here June 22-24, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were on "D" dock. Dock hands were knowledgeable and accommodating. Dock master was super in talking us into the dock and handling our check-in. Very convenient pump out arrangements at the slip. Huge plus is the water taxi/ferry at the marina that takes you to the Financial Center ferry dock in Lower Manhattan. Marina is on a canal off the Hudson, but still has some rock and roll from wakes. At night, a huge Statute Cruise boat tied up on the dock behind us. On Monday night of our stay the Marina Restaurant was closed for a private party, which was disappointing as there were no other eating places within walking distance without using the ferry. The transient docking rate on the surface appears high, but compared to hotel rates in the area and considering it is New York City, we thought the value was OK, especially considering the reasonable cost of ferry service to the City from the Marina. But, this was overall a great experience.

Great Marina to Stay, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

This marina is beautiful. The views of the City are spectacular! The ferry picks you up right there and takes you across arriving near the 9-11 Memorial. The bathrooms are so clean, showers are wonderful. We loved our stay here. The staff is so pleasant and helpful! Would recommend you staying here.

Great Marina if wanting to spend time in NYC, 2013-06-18
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (90)

We found this marina situated for easy access to NYC. The Liberty Landing Ferry takes you to a ferry terminal near the World Trade Center (WTC). Within about three block of the terminal is a Whole Foods Market, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Barnes and Noble, McDonalds, Subway, and subways, buses, etc. It is a little confusing now (June 2013) because of all the construction surrounding the WTC to find your way to a few of the subway stops. The ferry costs $7 per person per trip but is reliable, clean and terminal on NYC side is nice. The only problem we had with the marina is the poor internet/phone service from our own WIFI and cell phones. Almost any call we made on the cell phone was dropped at least once and internet via our WIFI was 2 bars at best. Maybe this is a holdover from Sandy. The facilities were very good, lounge, laundry, showers - and the dockmaster Michele was very helpful. Since we were staying for a week, we ended up in someones slip whose boat was still being repaired from Sandy so there no other transient boaters on our dock (G). The transients seemed to be kept more near the fuel dock. Docks were nice and secure - key card needed to get onto the dock so felt very safe. Ship store is well supplied and we used the services of a rigger who was on-site recommended by Selden.

Liberty Landing, 2013-06-11
Captain: , Newport, RI (230)

Stayed here enroute from Norfolk to Newport. Staff was very friendly, facilities were like new and spacious. A great jumping off point for the East River heading to LSI. The view of the Freedom Tower is fantastic. Worth the price for a night. The marina office is like a mini-West Marine but it is light on food and drink so you have to take the $2.00 ferry across the channel to a little bodega for beer. The same ferry will take you to lower Manhattan if you want.

This marina has everything!, 2013-06-10
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

Cannot say enough about what a great stop this was. Planned on one night and stayed three. Harbourmaster Michelle was terrific, given that the marina was very full. Great ships store and two restaurants. Very pet friendly. Easy access to NYC via ferry, and if you want to catch a late show its an easy late night return via taxi and subway. Highly recommend Michelle and her team!

Can't beat the view!, 2013-05-26
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (90)

We had not planned to stay at Liberty Landing, but the tide through the Hell Gate dictated a mid-day passage as we came down from Connecticut. Atlantic Highlands (our usual stopping place) had not recovered from Sandy (as of 9 May), and at the helm of a new (to us) boat, I was not yet ready to head directly into the ocean and make a night passage south along the Jersey coast. Needed a few days to get familiarized with all the systems, so we chose Liberty Landing to spend the night, allowing a dawn start south. We were lucky%u2014the off-season rate was but $2.50 a foot. Even though off-season, the marina was humming! The location and facilities were superb%u2014wide fairways for backing in our sailboat. There are a couple of restaurants on site, but we went to the one at the end of the marina opposite the site where the new World Trade Center is under construction across the Hudson. What a view! We only had a drink, but everything was more than up to snuff. Facilities at the marina were excellent as was the attitude of everyone we ran into. The slips are far enough off the river that there is no slosh or surge, and it is very quiet. At night, we sat in the cockpit, enthralled by the view of Manhattan and the opposing Jersey shoreline. Awesome. At dawn, we sailed past Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, both bathed in the sun%u2019s rays. Stirring. The summer rate is $4.50, a lot, but spring for it! You won%u2019t be sorry. The view alone is one of a lifetime.

Short stop over, 2013-05-21

We did not stay at the marina but only stopped for fuel. The fuel dock personnel were very freindly and extremely helpful during tie up. The facility appeared nice however we were only on site for appox an hour.

Impossible to work with/ Active Captain Intervention, 2013-05-08
Captain: , Ft Lauderdale FL (20)

Last June I sent in a dockage request which I mistakenly transposed the month and day on the form. I called a few days before my arrival in August to make sure everything was okay. They could not find my request. They finally found it and told me it was for November instead of August and they had no room for me. I was not that upset about that as I understood it was a busy weekend. I asked if I would be credited my dockage, as I had paid for the entire stay and was told yes.
After a few weeks, I called back to find out about the refund and was told by the female Dockmaster that there would be none and the employee that told me that had no authority to issue refunds. This was still over two months from the unintened dockage in November. I asked for a Supervisor to discuss the situation. She said there was no Supervisor and she was the only one that I could deal with.
She basically said that after I signed the request form and paid the dockage, there was no refund for any reason. Not even a credit for future dockage.
So, I encourage, if you stay here and I will never, you double check any dockage request before you submit it. Once you pay your money, IT IS GONE.

10/27/12
Jeffrey Siegel of Active Captain contacted me and spoke to Ron TenEyck, General Manager, on my behalf concerning my situation. Mr TenEyck instructed his Accounting Dept to issue a refund. I got no explanation but I did get a refund thanks to Active Captain%u2019s intervention.

Expensive Marina, 2013-01-13
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

This is a good marina, bu the most expensive in the area. The gas dock is rather difficult to tie up to for boats smaller than 30 feet due to the spacing of the pylons. There is cheaper gas 1/4 mile further in the canal on the north side. You can not due ANY of your own work here including painting. The onsite restaurants are very good.

A protected spot after Sandy, 2012-11-23
Captain: , Brooklin, ME (1081)

We came here to dodge the Nor'easter that hit right after Hurricane Sandy and to catch a weather window down the Jersey Coast. We're not normally marina guests, but the usual anchorages were dodgy (or off limits) after Sandy and we needed good shore access. This marina survived the storm relatively well and was the first to open after the storm providing us with a safe harbor. We were greeted well and they even had working showers, laundry, and fuel pumps running off of generators. Jersey City is a great place to provision or bar hop and just generally nice to walk around. Everyone we met was surprisingly friendly. Aside from getting snowed-on, the Nor'easter was mostly a non-event in this well-protected basin.

Excellent Service in Spite of Sandy, 2012-11-15
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1533)

Upscale, convenient, expensive, great, 2012-11-06
Captain: , Roseville MN (398)

We stayed here in mid September 2012. Is as well protected from the Hudson River as possible, with convenient access to Lower Manhattan. The crew, especially Liz and Michelle, were very helpful and friendly. The docks are TOO CLOSE TOGETHER; almost impossible to get into or out of our assigned transient slip. Good restaurant on-site. We stayed a week. Would return if we could afford it.

Great but Very Expensive, 2012-10-14
Captain: , Southport, ME, USA (1158)

Stayed here in early Oct 2012. It's a very nice place w/good people and NYC prices. The rate is $4/ft (not the $2.50 noted in Active Captain). The $2.50/ft is off season Nov 15th through Mar 15th. 30 amp service is $16.00/day.

Another great stay, 2012-09-19
Captain: , Miami (40)

On our way to and from Maine from Miami we look forward to our time at Liberty Landing Marina. Dockmaster Michelle insures that her team team is well trained and ready for us on arrival. Michelle and her team are always responsive to our inquiries and requests (including last year during the hurricane). The floating docks are well maintained and power reliable. The marina is located in a huge park with a great view of Manhattan accross the Hudson River. The ten minute ferry ride to Manhattan is much better than rocking and rolling when docked in the City. There are two very good restaurants on the premises and dozens in Jersey City accross the canal. We will be back next year.

Great marina, 2012-09-18
Captain: , Wickford, RI (937)

Wonderful marina with helpful, friendly people. The views are stunning!! Michelle, the dock master is knowledgable, professional and always smiles.
The showers and facilities are better, more attractive and cleaner than any 5 star hotels I've been to.
This is our third time stopping here in two years and have always enjoyed the stay.
Already looking forward to the next time.

Liberty Landing Marina, 2012-09-17

Well-stocked store, excellent dock facilities

A Great Marina with a Great View, 2012-09-06
Captain: , Charleston (241)

This is one of the best marinas we stayed in during this trip. Everything is first class including the staff who goes out of the way to please. Michelle, the Dock Master, was great assisting us with every request. The marine store is well equiped and the boaters lounge is clean and modern. We ate at the Liberty House Restaurant at the end of the island which has a spectacular view of Manhatten at night. Biking and running at Liberty Park fit right into our routine since we like to shake the cabin fever that goes with boating. The ferry to New York is steps away. A must stop on my next visit to New York.

"New" Facilities , 2012-09-05
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1104)

We had planned to stay over Labor Day weekend but because of the havoc from TS Leslie, we are probably going to the monthly rate which is considerably cheaper. Will update with actual figure. Having read the prior reviews, I just wanted to clarify that the "new" marina building with check-in, marine store, laundry (3 new washers and 3 new dryers), marble bathrooms (think Ritz Carlton), crew lounge and restaurant (Maritime Parc) is fully completed and fully functional. The marine store can place any order with West Marine and have the item delivered in one or two days. There is a second restaurant, Liberty House, closer to the Hudson, which was reasonable (for NYC) and the food was good. They pump more Valv-Tech fuel here than any marina we have ever been in because the ferries and other commercial boats buy from their fuel dock. We found the staff to be very helpful and the facilities wonderful. A visit to the New Jersey state monument to the Jersey citizens that died on 9/11 is touching and beautiful, especially at night. Walk past the Liberty House restaurant (keep it to starboard) and toward the Hudson, along the entry channel, and you will see it off to your right when you get to the Hudson.

Good Marina in New York, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Seattle, WA (414)

Calm, clean marina with very friendly helpful staff.
Great bathrooms and lounge area. Also easy to get to Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island plus a lovely park to walk around right by the marina. Not cheap but nothing is cheap in New York. No place to eat there on Monday night (both resteraunts on premise are closed on Mondays) think it would make sense to keep one open so boats arriving on Monday had a option other than going across the ferry. Only real negative is the WiFi is unreliable to none which is why we would not go back there. We live on our boat but need to be connected.

Great Marina, 2012-07-19
Captain: , Horsham, PA (110)

We had 10 boats there over the fourth for a rendevous. Michelle, the dockmaster, and her staff were very curteous helpful. We were there for the fourth of July and went out on the Hudson to watch the fireworks. The dock staff was there waiting to help us dock when we came back.

The shower/ bathroom facilities are the nicest I have seen in any marina.

There is a ferry which comes right to the marina and goes over to Manhatton every half hour.

There are two very good restaurants on the premises.

Gracious hosts, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Brick, NJ (193)

We held our annual 20+ boat rendezvous here and things went great. Some issues with power at one dock but they were resolved promptly. Voltage was low on some fingers but it was 99 degrees.

We were allowed to use the Lightship on premises to host an outdoor event, which was a lot of fun. Michelle (dockmaster) and her staff are on the ball and worked with us to keep 23 boats in close proximity.

Fairways are pretty narrow so you better be a pretty good skipper to get a larger boat in, or you better be the first to arrive.

Really NOTHING (groceries) within walking distance but a good shipstore and two restaurants. Ferry to World Financial Center and Statue/Ellis easy to get to.

10% discount for groups of 10 or more boats.

Calm marina near NYC, 2012-07-15
Captain: , Huntington (455)

We prefer Liberty Landing as our stop over point whenwe are going up the Hudson. All of the NYC Hudson River marinas (79th Street Boat Basin, Chelsea Piers and North Cove) have severe rolling from ferry wakes (I have had a few guests get sea sick while at the dock). We like seeing the city lights and the statue of liberty. The marina is well maintained and it adjacent to a state park with a very good restaurant. It is a short cab ride to Jersey City which believe it or not is worth visiting (take the cab and not public transport).

As an update, we stayed there for the Fourth of July which required a 3 day minimum stay. They should have been upfront that you cannot see the Hudson River fireworks from the marina and that you would have to walk to the end of Liberty Park with a thousand other people to see them. We probably still would have done it but it did leave a bad taste. The power was insufficient the last day so I had to run generator and wifi did not work. Also the two restaurants are closed on Mondays so you need to anticipate that. Otherwise marina remains well maintained and evidences recent investment. The Fourth of July is crazy wherever you go and Liberty Landing is the calmest marina on the Hudson. Easy in and out.

Mediocre service, broken equipment, 2012-07-09
Captain: , Edgewater, MD (101)

We had a 4 days stay, nice looking showers and quality docks. Their clothes dryer broke, atm out of money, out of ice, 24hr fuel dock machine broken (bad for us b/c we didn't fuel on way in with numerous boats waiting and left before 8a), pump out broke. Dock hands were good but in the office they had attitude and were not interested in stopping their personal conversation to cash out waiting customers. The quality of service -vs- pricey slips did not add up for us.

Convenient NY stopover, 2012-06-29

Great NYC View, 2012-06-12
Captain: , Port Lavaca, TX (441)

Great location for NYC skyline views. 5 minute bike ride to Exchange Place to catch Path Subway to WTC. Just a note, we did not receive help for docking when arriving. Although we didn't need help, at $4.00/ft, you would expect it. We also didn't use the bathroom/shower facilities while here. They were probably great, just didn't need them. The laundry room looked great, but we didn't use it either. Folks in the marina office were very friendly and helpful. Had a great meal next door at the Liberty House Restaurant. We will stay here again on the return trip.

Would stay here again, 2012-05-29
Captain: , Kettle Cove (30)

Great location with the park there and easy access to Jersey City and to NYC (either the ferry from the marina which goes to the financial district or the same ferry across the Morris Canal followed by a 10 minute walk to the PATH (subway) station. From this station you can go to either the World Trade Center or to 34th ST.
Only drawback is the price, but the view of the city is amazing

Would stop here again!, 2012-05-12

Super clean restrooms. Helpful staff. Laundry worked fine. Great view of Manhattan. No wakes & floating docks. Valvtech Diesel.

BIG city marina, 2011-11-02
Captain: , Tropical Tip of Texas (145)

Right across the Hudson River from Manhattan. A great location if you want to do NYC. Definitely expensive, but the weekly rate made it more liveable. Fuel and pumpout available. Friendly (for a big city) folks in the office. Service / lift available at the back of the HUGE marina. You can easily walk or bike to the ferry for the Statue of Liberty. Take the water taxi across to Jersey City for easy walk for restaurants. Take the water taxi across the Hudson for all the NYC stuff. We enjoyed our stay here.

Overpriced and doesn't deliver, 2011-07-17
Captain: , Salt Spring Island, BC (50)

We chose this marina over the Liberty Harbor thinking it would be more convenient for water taxi to NYC. Not so, taxi services both. Marina neglects to advice you when booking a reservation that water taxi's last run from city is at 7:45p.m. Therefore, you must take Path train back and the station is a $10 taxi fare to marina. Also, All machines in laundromat both washers and dryers, were broken. Staff very slow to aid in docking and leaving. We felt the $4.40' including power was too high for what we got. We left after only one night.

best marina near Manhattan, 2011-07-06

This is the only marina I know near to Manhattan where your boat can rest comfortably during the day. It is well sheltered from weather and boat waves. There are 2 excellent restaurants within a short walk. The location is part of Liberty State Park, which provides tour access to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, also within a short walk.
Be sure to also check out the gardens just east of the restaurant which is nearer to the Hudson River.

It is New York, and everything is very expensive. $6.50/ft!!! Maybe some rich folks are prepared to pay this for just OK services, but for that money you think they would treat you like royalty. Unfortuantely NOT. Location for the Statue of Liberty and the ferry to Manhattan is very good, but you pay for it. No wakes. Never again.

One of the few marinas in the area where you don't get seasick in the slip., 2011-05-30
Captain: , Roseland, NJ (21)

Well protected in the Morris Canal. beautiful facilities. Excellent, helpful staff. Beacon wifi included. Now with 2 restaurants on the premises, in addition to the ferry to Manhattan. Only drawback; it ain't cheap!

Great Stop / Location, 2011-05-09
Captain: , Cleveland (30)

Excellent location to meet up with crew flying into Newark. Nice restaurant on site. It's a hike to supermarkets. Great locale for viewing lower Manhatten / upper bay / Ellis Is. / Statue of Liberty. Very nice facilities.

Great Manhattan Views, 2011-03-06
Captain: , Waretown, NJ (344)

Visit here 3-4 times a year, dockhands are helpful and facilities are fantastic if you need them. There always seems to be a party going on with the locals, good times. Your docking skills need be honed due to tight spacing.

. . . but the water main had broken and had no dockside water when we arrived or during our visit. Showers and marina building brand new, paint and carpet still smelled fresh. Really outstanding facilities and excellent staff. Gas, Diesel and pump-outs all available.

No wake, great protection., 2011-01-26
Captain: , Bristol, RI (766)

Spent two weeks here. Very peaceful compared to other NY options. Nothing in walking distance. Strong keycard locked gates down to the docks. The ferry is great but shuts down early in the evening. The on site restaurant is expensive but has good food. Also, quite a show - one Sunday they were doing three large wedding receptions at the same time. Fantastic view of Manhattan especially during sunset.

Easy acess to NYC. Yard service is competent. Transient price per foot is high. Ferry to downtown NYC.

Pricey but nice, 2010-09-22
Captain: , Morehead City (160)

We stayed here for 2 nights as we wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The ferry to those places was an easy 1/2 mile walk away. The staff was very helpful. The facilities are in a new building and the bathrooms are spectacular. The washers/dryers all looked brand new. You can't beat the view. Had pizza from Stella's which I wouldn't recommend.

Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

I had been here in 2001 and wasn't impressed, but they've really got their act together now. I could only stay for one night but will be back next year for an extended stay. Lots to see and do.

Liberty Landing Marina, 2010-08-31
Captain: , charleston (761)

Wow - what a spectacular place to stay (prices match the quality). Terrific view of Manhattan with a sensational restuarant. Good protection from all the busy harbor boat traffic. Never been in shower and bathroom facilities as nice. Staff also very good. It cost $4.00 a foot, however.

Primo Marina stayed 8-22--8-28-2010, 2010-08-29
Captain: , Tequesta, FL (20)

What a view!!! Lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island--all right there. Not much movement from all the boat traffic in the Hudson--quiet. A lot of activity in the marina. New marine Center w/ brand new restrooms and showers, and laundry.

Liberty Landing Marina, 2010-07-01
Captain: , Newport R.I. (78)

Well run marina near NYC $4.50 per foot. No cable TV, WiFi did not work, 50 amp power was 206-208 volts. Ferry to NYC in marina. Staff professional & friendly. Restaurant near marina with great view of NYC. Generally good protection from vessels in Hudson

Forget the Rock & Roll, 2010-06-14
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

If you stay in this area you're going to pay top dollar anyway - so why put up with the ferry wakes. This marina has very nice docks, friendly staff and a new bath facility that looks like a country club. In the adjoining state park you can take exercise walks on the miles of walking paths. In the evening you can stroll and get a view of the NY skyline for which Donald Trump would charge you both arms and legs.

For only $15 you get a round trip directly to NYC across the river and it only takes seven minutes (and you get to wake the boaters who stayed in other marinas.)

Decent Facilities, 2010-03-08
Captain: , Looking for a Home (180)

The docks are in decent shape, though those to F dock receive NY Waterway ferry wake. The new facilities are coming along (showers, ship's store, etc.) but the laundry is still only two washer/dryers in the old lightship. Ensure a clear and concise understanding with marina management, as the rules of engagement change constantly.

Tight fit but what a view!, 2009-10-13
Captain: , Port Ontario, Lake Ontario (410)

The slips are tight and we arrived in a hard wind. however the dock hand gave me excellent guidance as I backed up and it went very well. The people here are very friendy and knowledgeable.
The dog walk in the park is wonderful and the city skyline, especially at night is truly amazing.
It is expensive but it's NY city or at least Jersey City.
I would definitely go back again if the opportunity arises.

Just spent a week here, 2009-09-01

Friendly, helpful staff. Liberty State Park is well worth walking or biking. Plenty of great restaurants in nearby Jersey City. Check out Marcos and Pepes on Grove St.

Has a lot to offer, 2009-08-14
Captain: , Whitby, ON (794)

A quirky place in many ways - we lived aboard here for almost two years. The location is great with the park there and easy access to Jersey CIty proper and to Manhattan (either the ferry from the marina which goes to the financial district or the same ferry for $1 across the Morris Canal followed by a 10 minute walk to the PATH (subway) station. From this station you can go to either the World Trade Center or to 34th ST. The new building will be a real plus but it has been under construction for 4 years. Liberty House restaurant is very good but expensive.

Staff are very helpful and friendly.

The boats used to take people to the Statue and Ellis Island now dock at night at the east end of the marina which takes away from the view. Ferry wakes are also a problem although the marina is wonderfully protected even in winter gales.

Stay here for the view, it's like Oz..., 2009-07-23
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay, MD (311)

The view here of the city is awesome, especially at night. Floating docks, minimal wake (compared to the harbor), water taxi service to the financial district run every 1/2 hour. Staff was friendly to us with helpful dock hands. For unique experience, they have an old lightship converted for their laundry and shower facilities....interesting and cramped but unique. There is a new building being built on the property that we hope will be for the marina and updated facilities. Overall we like this stop and would return again.

Stopping spot from Sound to Open Water, 2009-07-22
Captain: , Oyster Bay, NY (74)

whenever I head from the North Shore of LI to the Sotuh shore, this marina makes a good stopping spot. It does have an easy entry but gets very tight inside. A lot of traffic makes it a little noisy at night and staff are scarce. A nice marine for those you want to spend a day or two sailing the NY harbor.

good NY stop, , 2009-04-14
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

but bring your wallet! $4.40 a foot, well protected (one of the few that is in this area), water taxi available to NY .

Just a touch short of Awesome, less call it an A-, 2008-09-14
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2310)

Easy to make reservations, greeted by talented dock staff, slips in excellent condition, location very scenic, free concerts on Summer Sunday Nights, short distance to three major attractions (Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and (forgot name) historical train station), running path, national park, 5 star resturant and bar, ferry to downtown NYC.

Very likeable place. Facilities are on a converted lightship while a new main building is being built. When they are done all that will be missing is a swimming pool and beach bar.

Swimming Pool might be nice, as the water around the marina is very undesirable.

ferry boats !!!!, 2008-08-13
Captain: , Cranes Creek, VA (40)

A number of ferries dock here. We hit it at rush hour. Obviously you have to spend several years driving NY taxi cabs to qualify as skipper on the ferries. Think survival of the fittest as the rule of the road!

Very good facility, friendly staff 24X7 self service diesel.

Would be nice if the tour boats didn't idle 24x7 too.

Good protection, 2008-06-04
Captain: , Old Saybrook, CT (1021)

Doesn't seem to get the surge from the river that some of the other marinas do. A litle pricey for what you get and a little difficult to get into NYC except by water taxi.

Excellent city marina, 2007-08-26
Captain: , Oxford, MD (4)

A beautiful facility with spectacular views, especially at night, of NYC, the Statue of Liberty and the rest of NY Harbor. I would have given a 5 star rating if the staff, while helpful, adopted a friendlier attitude.

Good Marina.., 2007-06-28
Captain: , Annapolis (160)

It has a water taxi that will take you to the financial district for 5 dollars, 4 if your a senior, military, or student. Floating docks that are well kept, great dock hands that will run you ice or anything you want by calling them on the radio. The restaurant was awesome but expensive. There is a slight bug problem in the afternoons, but nothing candles won't take care of. I guess the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is there is a ferry which comes in near there that will throw a small wake. FYI Eddie Murphie was tied up here in his mega yacht last weekend.

Protected location with great views of NY/NJ, 2007-01-29
Captain: , Palm City, FL (113)

Great location, just minutes from Manhattan. Excellent location, with the Morris Canal the best-protected in the area. Very good metal docks and amenities, good restaurant on site
