Reviews for Larsen Marine Service
Excellent Service, 2016-09-23
Captain: , Charleston, SC (210)

Heard great things about this service yard, but experienced first hand with last minute service needs. Inverter and shorepower breaker failed at the same time. Larsen was on the boat the next morning, despite being 50 miles away. diagnosed the problem and made the repairs within hours of equipment arrival. Prices were reasonable and staff very cordial. Highly recommend.

Full Service & DIY Boatyard, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Evanston (20)

I've stored three different boats at Larsen's over the last 18 years. Prices are fair, staff are excellent and friendly. Nothing gets by Doug Larsen's eye in the yard - it is shipshape. I resuscitated a 42 foot steel schooner in the yard over two summers (and a couple long springs and falls). Everyone at Larsen%u2019s, from the third generation owners, sales staff, parts staff, to the yard staff was very supportive. I had some very %u2018left field%u2019 work they were able to do on the schooner, including welding on the masts and fashioning a steel tabernacle. These guys take boats in and out of the water for a living, and it is amazing to see how the yard functions in the busy spring launch season %u2013 a well oiled machine! I purchased my first sailboat from them, and the sales staff are great. Lilly works all the paperwork and knows the ins and outs of all the registrations, including USCG documentation. With the disappearance of West Marine from the area (only in Chicago and Winthrop Harbor) %u2013 Larsen%u2019s has expanded their parts department. Don%u2019t hesitate to check %u2013 this spring I went to two West Marine%u2019s looking for an electronic bilge switch and found it at Larsen%u2019s (a short walk from where my boat was stored). Can%u2019t recommend them enough.

Best of the Best, 2012-02-15
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (3022)

This operation may be the best of the best. I organized the shipping of 7 masts from the Chicago area to Mobile AL in 2011, and we selected (having never been there) Larsens as our loading point for this endeavor. Doug and his crew, and particularly LaDonna, are professional, courteous, thoughtful, and made everything easy%u2026they charged us nothing extra for aggregating the 7 masts and holding them for the pickup, and even had to deal with a belligerent truck driver. Pricing is nothing short of rock bottom; we spent 3 days and nights there, had a 45%u2019 mast dropped, they let me do most of the work stripping it, made excellent suggestions about what I should do to prep the mast, packed it perfectly, and my total bill was about $400. I can%u2019t say enough about this place and the way they handled everything for us.

Quality and attention to detail, 2011-06-08

Larsen Marine has been a family owned business for more than 75 years and you get the attention to detail that only a family owbned business can deliver. They know their customers and bend over backwards to please them.

Top Quality rigger, 2011-04-01

Mike in the rigging department is excellent along with Dan in the parts department and Damon in the ships store.
