Reviews for Lankford Bay Marina
Great Stop, 2017-08-20
Captain: , Severna Park, Md. (30)

Just spent the weekend here with some 20+ members of our yacht club. The new owners, Keith and Debbie could not have been any more helpful or nice. Very clean, quiet marina with nice facilities and a great pool and pavilion. They shuttled us to Rock Hall on the marina bus several times always with a smile. Good water, nice slips, good wifi (new), makes this a weekend retreat we'll come back for.

great marina, 2017-08-06
Captain: , Severna Park (10)

We had a great stay there in July. New management seems very nice and responsive. Great pool views that our kids loved! We will definitely put it on our annual return list. Hope it thrives as they really seem to be trying!

Great place to stay, 2017-06-12
Captain: , St. Margarets, MD (30)

Made a last minute reservation, by phone, for Friday night of the Memorial day weekend. We were arriving late in the afternnon, after they were closing, but were given good directions to a slip.

Very clean grounds, clean facilities, and a friendly staff for check out the next morning. This is our second visit to this marina, and we highly recommend it for a quiet stay in a well protected setting.

When you need time to unplug!, 2016-08-26
Captain: , Annapolis (127)

Very quiet marina with some of the nicest people ever. The approach is straightforward, and slip assignment was quick and easy. Gary ran out to help get situated.

The pool and bathhouse are a little dated, but VERY clean. There is fuel onsite, but it's nearly $0.50 more than the going rate elsewhere, so we were sure to have enough to get in and out again. The shuttle into town is also convenient.

The marina is going through a change of ownership (as of August 2016), so there's a lot of talk/angst about what is happening next, but that doesn't prevent having a nice visit. Only real complain is the WiFi. You have to be sitting just outside the office to get it. There is no reception at the slips and very little cell signal. We were happy to unplug somwhat, but still need access to weather, etc kind of info. Overall, very nice visit.

Hiden Gem, 2016-08-15
Captain: , Galesville, Md (126)

Stayed two night 12-13 Aug. This place is a jewel. Barbara is very helpful and the place is VERY clean. Heads, showers, laundry all in very good condition. Her directions to pull into the Marina were perfect. If you are looking for a nice quite spot to relax... THIS is it.
Plenty of good water to get in if you follow the charts and depth lines. I draw 4.5 feet and no issues.

Quiet natural surroundings, 2016-07-24
Captain: , Middle River, MD (150)

Very nice family atimosphere. Great views from marina and pool of Davis Creek and the Chester River. Facilities were roomy with well equiped shower rooms. WiFi limited to office area - very frustrating. If you advertise wifi it should be available at the slip. Local's we met at the pool were very nice.

An excellent marina, 2016-05-22
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (666)

If you are exploring the Chester River on your way north or south or are looking for a place to lay over, Lankford Bay Marina is an excellent choice. The slips are of a generous size, no issues with power, the restrooms and showers are spotless. This is a working boat yard so likely able to accomodate repairs. There is a well-stocked immaculate ships-store.

The nearest restaurants are about 5 miles away in Rock Hall. The owner can provide transportation for a night out.

The views are great.

There is exposure to the Northeast.

Best Kept Secret on the Eastern Shore, 2015-10-10
Captain: , Bear, DE (560)

This is a wonderful family run marina which maintains high standards of cleanliness and maintenance. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Great facilities include swimming pool, picnic area and pavilion, clean restrooms and laundry, ships store, fuel and mechanics on site. Worth the trip up the Chester River and only 5 miles from Rock Hall (they have a shuttle bus to get you there).

Great Marina, 2015-06-12
Captain: , Eau Gallie, Florida (140)

Great protection, quiet, peaceful with great people. We wintered our boat here, had it hauled and wrapped. Caught a lot of fish and crabs during the fall with the help of a local slip holder. Great sailing grounds and close to Rock Hall and Chestertown. Can not say enough positive things about this marina to do it justice. The staff here are great and very professional and knowledgable.
If we lived close this would be our home port.

Very Private and nice, 2014-08-13
Captain: , Bodkin Creek Md. (227)

This is a wonderful family run marina that will not break your pocket book. Has a nice ships store and a bus that will take you in to Rock Hall for a small fee. Nice pool overlooking the creek and picnic areas with charcoal grills. If you like quiet this is the place. They even have a covered pavillion and tables and chairs are available with a very large commercial charcoal grill for large groups. We will go there again. Thanks to the owners and staff from the crew of CJ'STOO from Bodkin Yacht Club for a great weekend.

Best Hidden Charm of a Marina, 2014-07-23
Captain: , Edgewater (20)

Lankford Bay Marina is one of the best small marinas on the Chesapeake Bay! The pool is one of the nicest I have been in...the owners are a delight. The ship's store is well stocked with a diesel mechanic on staff. The baths are spotless, with several showers in their own rooms. There is a shuttle bus that will take people to Rock Hall (nice town with several good restaurants and shops) for a small fee. Just contact staff when you want to be picked up. The local seafood store will deliver crabs to the marina. This is a truly pleasant marina.

Nice and Relaxing Atmosphere, 2013-08-06
Captain: , Midland, Texas (60)

Mom-and-Pop atmosphere. Family owned with store, nice showers and nice pool. The atmosphere is very laid back and rural. Restaurants are a 10 minute or so car drive.

Great Locatiion For A Group/Club Event, 2013-07-15
Captain: , Annapolis Md (280)

Located about 20 min from the town of Rockhal, Lankford Bay Marina is a family owned and run property with very nice ammenities. These include a nice pool a beautiful pavilion overlooking the creek (always with a breeze). A well stocked ships store and a friendly staff. Slips and docks are reasonable and the restrooms are clean. All in all a very nice place to stay.l

Hidden Gem, 2012-11-07
Captain: , Woodbridge (278)

Stayed for a weekend at the end of June with a group of boats. Staff very helpful and friendly. Pet friendly. Shuttle available. Pool was great for a very hot and humid weekend. Without a doubt this will become a 'at least a once per year visit' marina.

Nice People, Dog Friendly, Wonderful Pool, 2012-10-01
Captain: , Magothy River (319)

We visit this marina at least once a season. They have a small ships store. Fuel. Vending machines & ice. Their pool overlooking Langford creek is delightful on hot, muggy days. We do wish Rockhall proper was a little closer.

Great Marina for a multiple night stay!, 2012-06-22
Captain: , Middle River, MD (31)

John Groves is the go-to guy if you're thinking of making reservations. He's very accommodating and anxious to please. The showers and heads are immaculately maintained. The pool is wonderful on a hot day! The marina will provide transportation to Rock Hall and it's environs. This is a very transient-friendly marina in a beautiful location.

Simply wonderful, 2012-06-20
Captain: , Bowleys Quarters, MD (160)

We stayed here for a few days during the 2011 sailing season and had a wonderful experience. The staff is top notch, the ships store well stocked and the pool area is amazing. They have loaner bicycles which we used to ride into Rock Hall. A great facillity!

One Of My Favorite Marinas, 2011-07-27
Captain: , Chester Springs, PA (189)

How can you beat the view from the beautiful hillside pool overlooking Langford Creek and Cacaway Island? Simply the best. Very well maintained and run marina, bathrooms and facilities. I wish all Marinas took such care. Simply lovely and relaxing.

A very nice and well run marina, 2011-07-08
Captain: , Bear, DE (197)

We were very impressed with this hidden away marina. I can't remember being in a nicer marina! The marina offers a shuttle bus (top quality too) and it was actually the owner that drove us to town and later picked us up at the local grocery store. We were able to get verizon broadband service "most" of the time.

Idyllic Getaway, 2011-07-04
Captain: , Annapolis (1465)

Well run marina in an idyllic setting. Just took 17 boat group here. Covered pavilion and huge charcoal grill for a party.

Marina-run jitney will take you to/from Rock Hall.

Great Mariina & staff, 2011-07-02
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

We enjoyed 2 days here and I agree with all the previous positive comments. The trip up river from the Chesapeake to here was wonderful. The only drawback was the marina's apparent remoteness to cell technology. We were at the furthest out dock (by the moorings) and had almost zero Verizon coverage for cell phone and Aircard. Also, my DirecTV coverage, whiich is normally great in the Chesapeake was poor (also I didn't spend time trying to really fine tune it). I could not get WIFI at the boat but I could go up to the office and get free WIFI. They also have a well stocked marine store on site.

Our Home Port, 2011-06-15
Captain: , East Goshen, PA (121)

Read through most of the reviews and I completely agree with all the positive comments so no need to repeat them. We love it hear. Another great aspect of this marina is its location. When sea conditionas are iffy to bad on the bay making folks stay home, we have great boating. Pleanty of deep water anchorages and beaches near by.

Beautiful Area, 2011-04-11
Captain: , New London, PA (302)

Kept my boat here for several years. I found it to be a nice place with friendly staff. The only downside is not much else around, but then again that's why we boat so strike that as a downside.

Another Great Visit, 2010-09-09
Captain: , Hampton, VA (423)

Spent the Labor Day weekend operating out of this great place. A little less traveled this year but the facilities - docks, pool and bathrooms - still very nice. Many boats on the morroings. Beautiful and quiet.

One of the finest places to stay, 2010-09-06
Captain: , Havre De Grace (41)

Great facilities, wonderful staff, and not to mention the pool overlooking the river. Slip pricing I thought was a bit much for the area. Everything else was great, dog walking area, free pump out and easy access to fuel dock.

Great facility, very nice people, lovely setting, 2010-08-31
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

Previous reviews are accurate. One of the nicest marinas on the Bay. The trip to get there is even lovely.
Update 8/31/10 $1.75/ft. Still one of our favorite matinas. Well maintained with a quiet, bucolic setting. The pool overlooking the creek is a highlight. Good chandlery. They will give you a ride into Rock Hall or you can call the trolley (a bunch of restaurants). Be sure to ask the owner why the marina name has a different spelling than the creek name (hint: find something to sit on).

Well run, family style marina., 2009-09-13
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay, MD (311)

Spotless and organized. Nice (small) pool with pretty, well groomed grounds. Nice pavillion, great for club cruises and events. Mooring field and dinghy dock. Nice, well equiped store. Marina office had coffee station but they charged us for a cup of joe...would have been nice to offer complimentary coffee. Otherwise...very nice place.

Very nice, friendly marina, 2009-06-09
Captain: , Manassas, VA (118)

Stayed here for 3 nights May 2009. The marina is family-run and they have had it for 50 years. You could not ask for a friendlier group of people. The grounds are clean and nicely landscaped with flowers, lights and whimsical little garden decorations. There is a large and bright marine store where you can access free wi-fi.

My only complaint regarding this marina was the store....4:30 pm seems a little early to close on a weekend. When you get back from a sail with a bit of broken gear you can't replace it till the next morning when they open at 9am. The West Marine in Rock Hall closes at 6PM so you are out of luck all around. Maybe in the summer they stay open later, I don't know.

The pool wasn't open yet but it was clean and looked great. There are picnic tables, benches and charcoal grills scattered around. The showers and restrooms were large and well-kept. Pumpouts were free, which is a nice touch. Dockhands will come to direct you to your slip and help you out. Power was reliable and CATV was available though we didn't use it. Verizon, Sprint and ATT cellphones all seemed to work. Slipholders (and all the local residents we encountered) were friendly and just great people to talk to. The town of Rock Hall is very quaint with some good restaurants. I would keep my boat here if I lived in this area.

Friendly family owned marina, 2009-06-02
Captain: , Frog Mortar Creek, Middle R., Chesapeake (420)

Very good facilities, fuel, pump out, laundry, picnic and cooking grills, ships store, and beautiful pool overlooking the water. The Rock Hall Trolly will pickup and return with mucho restaurant options there.

Great Facility and Staff, 2009-05-28
Captain: , Vienna, VA (472)

MTOA hosted a Chesapeake Cruisers event at Lankford Bay Marina in May of 2009. John and the staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. They have a pavillion available for events and you can rent tables and chairs as needed. The restrooms are neat and clean and the grounds are very nice. We will definately be coming back again and we recommend it as a facility to host an event.

Nice People, 2007-09-06
Captain: , Havre De Grace (111)

Nice out of the way marina with a fantastic staff. I was running a little late and radioed ahead to see if they could wait a few minutes past closing so I could fuel up and get ice. They had no problem with it, and were there to catch lines ten minutes past closing. You don't get that everywhere.
