Reviews for Lakefield Marina
Easy entry onto the wall, 2017-07-08
Captain: , Honolulu (712)

Lakefield Marina was a welcome stop after 7 locks in 10 miles, an elapsed six hours. Logan was a great help in docking to wall parallel to the current, glad we didn't try to enter a slip, must have been 5 k of river current. Goodwifi, power, water, close to restaurants, shopping, clean restrooms. About $2 a foot in July of 2017.

Very neat and clean, great docks

Nice place to stop, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

We stayed one night, Aug 8. Right on the wall in front of the office. Staff very friendly and helpful. Didn't use the facilities but they were right there. Wifi was great, of course we were right in front of office. A short walk to some stores, (Dollar Store, Drug Store and a few others) and about a 15 minute walk to the rest of the town with restaurants and groceries.

I'd give it 4 stars if the Wifi worked better, 2016-08-09

The place is really nice and sells awesome icecream. Freindly staff. We tied along long docks along the NE wall. POwer (30 amp) and water at the dock. They have wifi, but it's slow and the connection kept dropping out. There are a number of restaurants close by. They also have a NAPA store within 15 minutes walk. Great if you need spare parts (my alternator died.. ) There is a great pub in town called the "Canoe and Paddle". They have all kinds of craft beer on tap and the food is excellent. (I recommend the beef stew.. I went back two days in a row).

Much Improved Now, 2016-06-21

Showers fine. They're cleaned every day. Personnel great. WiFi good although we were on wall near office. Grocery store nearby.

Least favourite marina, 2015-07-26
Captain: , Honey Harbour, Ontario (170)

Showers not as clean as others on Trent-Severn. Check that --- they're just dated. Most expensive as well.

Shore power box had rust and cobwebs. It did work, however.

Good town for food, 2014-06-12

I was in the group behind CaptainTom (next post), got here in the rain with a 2 day stay to let the weather pass by.

We are on the wall, so it's hop off and go to town.

When you come to the main street (Queen Street) to the left is the Tim's, a frozen goods store, a dollar store all with in 5 mins. To the right is a quality meat store, produce market and a beer store, once againa 5 min walk.

15 mins down Queen Street to the right gets you to the rest of town, hardware store, Foodland and more places to eat. We took the extra effort to walk across the bridge to the RiverCompany. One of the top 5 places we've eaten at on this trip. Highly recommended

Nice stop here, 2014-06-10
Captain: , Phoenix (580)

Stayed here for a quick stop for over night after a disapointing lock cruise from Peterborough. Locks were under staffed and we had to wait for locks because too many boats and not enough staff to work the locks. Alana the dock master was great and very helpful. I give it 4 star only because there are not a lot of ammenties here but close to many, hardware, etc. Most within 5 min. walk.

Excellent choice for the night, 2013-08-24
Captain: , Calgary, Alberta, Canada (854)

Alana proved to be an experienced dock hand to get us in and tied up along the long front wall in this quiet marina in downtown Lakefield. Excellent stop if you have to reprovision groceries need a good hardware store. Many restaurants serving reasonable food at good prices.

good provisioning, 2013-06-29
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

Nice marina, fixed docks, 2 feet off water, some 50 amp mostly 30 amp. Young lady dock attendants try hard to please. iGA supermarket, beer, liquor gourmet food in walking distance. Bike trail back to Peterborough along waterway. Very good French restaurant Cassis, down the street. Small but clean shower bathroom facilities.

Good Stop Helpful Staff, 2012-06-21
Captain: , Guntersville, AL (451)

A nice marina with modern docks. Had some issues with shore power voltage being low. Marina called an electrician and determined that power company only delivers 208 volts on the 50 amp service. Marina is working to find a solution and may try to obtain boosters for boats that need a higher voltage. I was provided monetary consideration for the power problem. Did not experience any staff training problem and they were helpful and professional.

good stop for a night, 2011-07-22
Captain: , Westport,Ma (710)

nice for a one nighter, staff pleasant and brought us in ok. Real butcher shop within walking distance and pretty good Greek rest as well

Staff needs training, 2011-07-11
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

Came in with weather approaching and the two young women needed the assistance of a local boater to get us tied up. They tried hard but it does not appear that they have had the proper training to assist transient boaters. Apparently the manager had left early eventhough there were transients coming in and weather was forecast to turn.

They put us on a T dock where the bow of our boat hung over. It was the only 50 amp service available at the time. Did not inform us of this until we arrived. They did discount our docking by the cost of the electric for the our troubles.

I would not recommend this marina until the staff had been properly trained.

The overalll physical facilities are a bit above average or I would have rated the marina a "1".
